5-19 thru 5-22 Accidents / Fraud / Malicious Damage

5-19-17

On May 19, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Newton Street for a multi-vehicle crash with injury. After investigating the scene it was determined that the vehicle in traffic had collided with several parked cars. 2 vehicles were towed. Minor injuries reported.

On 5/19/2017 an Officer was involved in a motor vehicle accident with police cruiser while attempting to make a traffic stop. No injuries were reported.

On Friday 05-19-2017 Officers responded to an address on Beacon St. for a report of a gunshot victim down with an abdominal wound.  After an investigation it was determined that no one had been shot, nor had any shots been fired. The caller was subsequently transported to the hospital for an unrelated reason and will be summonsed to Brookline District Court for Possession Class B (94C/C).

On May 19, 2017, I, Officers responded to the area of  Dudley Street and Lee Street on reports of an accident involving a bicyclist. After an investigation it was revealed that the accident occurred in the rotary. The bicyclist suffered a few minor scratches and minor damage to his bike.

On 05/19/2017, Officers responded to the Brookline Police Station on a report of a fall on Town Property.  Photos of the side walk where the subject reported falling were taken and appeared to have no defects.

On 05/19/2017, Officers were dispatched to an address on Boylston St.  for a report of found credit cards with possible suspicious activity. The reporting party informed the officers they had found numerous credit cards. The found property will be stored in an evidence locker, and a follow-up will be conducted by the Detective Division.

On May 19th, 2017, Officers responded to an address on Francis St for a report of Identity Fraud via the United States Postal Service. The victim reports receiving a letter from the United States Postal Service confirming a change of address however they had not requested a change of address. The FTC Identity Theft Division was alerted. The victim reports that a package has already been shipped to New York.

On May 19th, 2017, Officers responded to an address on Holden St  for a report of a broken window. The victim states her kitchen window had been damaged sometime during the night.  Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. Photos were taken of the damage. No access was gained into the house.

5-20-17

On Saturday May 20, a Brookline Officer turned in a key he had found in the area of Harvard St and Steadman St. Attempts to locate the owner on scene were made but were unsuccessful.  Later that day the owner of the key responded to the Brookline police Station and retrieved the key.

On 05/20/2017 Officers responded to an address on Park Street for a report of a stolen phone. The victim reports that when she realized her phone was gone, she tried to locate it with the Track My Phone app. She was able to track it moving from the area of Longwood Avenue and eventually stopped at the intersection of Beacon Street and Strathmore Road. At that point the phone had been turned off. Officers responded to Beacon Street and Strathmore Road but were unable to locate the phone. There are cameras in the area where the victim believes the phone was taken from so a follow-up by the Brookline Detectives will be conducted.

5-21-2017

On 5-21-2017, Officers responded to Harvard St. at Fuller St. for a report of a man wearing only an American flag running in traffic.  After an investigation the subject was transported to the hospital for assistance.

On May 21, Officers responded to an address on Strathmore Rd. for a report of malicious damage to multiple motor vehicles.  One vehicle had damage to its windshield, which appeared to have been caused by a brick which was lying nearby. A second vehicle had significant damage to the passenger side mirror and a 2x4 piece of wood was located on the ground in close proximity.  Detectives were called to the scene for photos.

On May 21, 2017, A citizen walked into the Brookline Police Station to report a past Hit and Run Accident. The victim reports he was parked at an address on Boylston St. Chestnut Hill and when he returned to his car he noticed damage to the front right side of his vehicle. It is unclear how the vehicle was hit or what caused the damage but most likely another vehicle made contact with his vehicle when parking. The victim reports there were no witnesses to the accident and nobody left a note on his vehicle.

On May 21, 2017  a citizen contacted the Brookline Police to report finding a men's wallet at the corner of Coolidge Street at Winchester Street. Officers arrived and took custody of the wallet. The wallet has been placed into evidence for safe keeping and attempts have been made to locate the owner.

5-22-2017

On 05/22/2017 Officers responded an address on Harvard Street, for 2 patrons that had just left the restaurant without paying.  A staff member was following the 2 parties walking down Harvard Street towards Beacon Street. The Officers were able to stop all parties on Green Street. After an investigation half of the bill was paid, and one party will was summonsed into Brookline Court for  MGL (140/12) - Fraudulently Procuring Food for Credit.
