Traffic stop leads to large drug arrest

On April 12, 2013 at approximately 4:20PM Officers stopped a motor vehicle for an expired inspection sticker. As a result of the stop officers came across evidence of marijuana being present. A search of the vehicle also lead to the discovery of over a pound of hashish estimated street value of over $10,000. Also recovered was an automatic weapon magazine with nine rounds of nine millimeter ammunition. Seized were two cell phones, a grinder and a small package of marijuana and over $1,900. in cash. Subject is being charged with Possession of ammunition, Possession of class C and Possession of class C with intent to distribute.

Break and Entering arrest made.

On 4-12-13 at approximately 9:05 PM Officers responded to a residence on Summit Av for a reported breaking and entering. As officers were in route, a suspect description was given out. Upon the arrival of the officers the suspect was seen fleeing from the rear of the building in a motor vehicle. The vehicle traveled on Summit Av to Beacon Street. After the vehicle turned onto Beacon Street, in the area of 1440 Beacon Street, it struck a motor vehicle that was in traffic stopped at a red light. The victim’s vehicle sustained damage to its left side, none of the passengers were hurt. The suspect’s vehicle sustained damage to its right side and believed to have popped it’s right front tire. The suspect did not stop, and continued west bound on Beacon Street. The suspect traveled, about two blocks and tried to make a right hand turn onto Lancaster Terrace. The vehicle was unable to make the turn and crashed head on into a street pole causing major damage to the vehicle and the pole. The suspect was able to get himself from the vehicle and take off on foot. The suspect was spotted a short distance away in the rear of 1600 Beacon street. He took off running across Beacon Street through the Washington square area, he was running through the traffic and was eventually stopped in the area of Beacon Street and University road.


As a result of the investigation and from all the evidence the suspect will be charged with

Attempted Burglary (2 counts)

Operating a Motor Vehicle to Endanger

Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Revocation

Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident ( 2 counts)

Resisting Arrest

Disorderly Person

This suspect is believed to be responsible for other break and enterings and the investigation is ongoing at his time.
He should be arraigned in Brookline District Court.

Police Reports 4/10-4/11

Sector 1

Operating after Suspension: 4/10 at 9:45 PM- Harvard St. / Beals St.

An officer observed a vehicle take an illegal left turn from Centre St. onto Harvard St. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Harvard St. at Beals St.  A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 4

OUIL: 4/11 at 1:38 AM- Harvard St.

A query of a vehicle’s registration revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. As the officer continued to observe the vehicle it drifted into a left turn only lane, nearly colliding with another vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. Upon making contact with the operator the officer could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Based on the observations the driver was placed under arrest for Operating under the Influence of Liquor and Operating under Suspension.

Operating after Revocation: 4/11 at 1:21 PM- Park St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on a one way street. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Park St. A query revealed that the driver had a revoked license. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation.

Police Reports 4/9-4/10

Operating after Suspension: 4/9 at 5:05 PM- Harvard St. / Beacon St.

An officer observed a vehicle make an improper left turn from Beacon St. onto Harvard St. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 1

Receiving Stolen Property: 4/10 at 1:29 PM- Freeman St. / Amory St.

Officers observed two male subjects traveling on a moped without helmets. The officers initiated a traffic stop on Amory St. A query revealed that the driver did not have a valid license. The operator did not have keys for the moped and it appeared that a panel covering the ignition area had been broken off. The operator was placed under arrest for Receiving Stolen Property and Not Duly Licensed.

Sector 2

Arrest: 4/10 at 12:19 PM- Harvard St. / Marion St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling with a rejected inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query revealed that the driver had a warrant out of West Roxbury District Court. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrant.

Sector 4

Package Theft: 4/9 between 12:07 and 5:45 PM- Foster St.

An individual reported the larceny of two packages from a Foster St. residence. The victim stated that two packages were confirmed delivered to her address at 12:00 PM. However when she returned home she discovered that one package had been ripped open and its contents stolen. The other package was missing altogether. The victim’s roommate also reported that she had a package stolen from the vestibule in the same time period.

Police Reports 4/8-4/9

Operating after Suspension: 4/8 at 7:15 PM- Freeman St.

A query of a vehicle’s information revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Freeman St. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 2

Operating after Suspension: 4/9 at 8:53 AM- Kent St.

An officer observed a vehicle illegally passing other vehicles in the wrong lane. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Kent St. A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 3

Burglary: 4/8 between 7:45 AM and 3:50 PM-Beacon St.

An individual reported a breaking and entering of a residence.  The victim stated that when he returned to his residence he discovered that unknown person(s) had entered his apartment and removed several items. Taken from multiple rooms were a laptop, a Kindle Fire e-reader, a camera, jewelry, and spare change. It appeared that the suspect(s) pried open the apartment door.

Sector 5

OUIL: 4/8 at 10:32 PM- Washington St.

Dispatch received several calls for a MV accident at Washington St. and Gardner Rd. Upon arrival, officers observed a MV on Washington St. Upon making contact with the driver, officers learned that the MV had driven over two traffic islands and taken out several street signs. Officers could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver. Based on the observations the driver was placed under arrest for Operating under the Influence of Liquor.

For spectators and travelers make sure you plan accordingly

Beacon Street in Brookline to be closed from 9:30 AM-4:30 PM.
Chestnuthill Av through Cleveland Circle will close at 9:00 and open at 4:30PM.
A Parking Ban will go into effect for Beacon Street (East Bound). Check for the signs that will be posted by Sunday evening. Cars will be towed from Beacon Street starting at 8:00AM
Once Beacon street closes it stays closed from Cleveland Circle to Kenmore Square. Cars can’t get through and Pedestrians will have no crossing places. If you have appointments plan on being on the proper side of the street by 9:30AM. Stay tuned for any traffic updates,


Traffic stop leads to Drug and Gun charges

At 1020 PM last evening an Officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of 830 Boylston St., He stopped a vehicle occupied with two males, both parties extremely nervous in appearance. While interacting with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle's interior. While the driver reached into the glove compartment for the registration, the officer continued to closely monitor his movements. Inside the glove compartment, visible to the officer, was a clear container with what was believed to be marijuana. Based upon further investigation, both parties were taken from the vehicle. Additional packages of what is believed to be marijuana were found. Also found under the driver’s seat was a loaded 9MM firearm. Both are to be arraigned today in Brookline Court.

Police Reports 4/7-4/8

Sector 2

Package Theft: 4/5 between 2:20 and 3:30 PM- Kent St.

An individual reported a package theft. The victim stated that a package was confirmed delivered to his residence on 4/5. However, the package was never recovered by the victim.

Sector 4

Operating after Suspension: 4/7 at 4:32 PM- Washington St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling without an inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Washington St.  A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 5

Operating after Revocation: 4/8 at 10:37 AM- Channing Rd. / Chestnut Hill Ave.

A query revealed that a vehicle’s registration and the registered owner’s license were both revoked. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Channing Rd. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation.

Sector 8

Tire Theft: 4/7 between 3:00 and 11:15 PM- Holly Ln.

An individual reported the theft of all four tires and rims from her Honda Accord. The victim stated that she parked her vehicle in her garage at approximately 3:00 PM. When she returned she discovered that someone had stolen the tires and rims and left the car on cinder blocks.

Police Reports 4/5-4/7

Drug Arrest: 4/6 at 11:13 PM- Kent St.

An officer observed what appeared to be an illegal drug transaction between the operators of two vehicles in the area of Station St. The officer initiated a traffic stop of Vehicle #1 on Kent St. Officers initiated a traffic stop of Vehicle #2 on Washington St. Officers recovered a bag of marijuana from Vehicle #1. It was determined that the operator of Vehicle #2 had sold the marijuana to the operator of Vehicle #1. The operator of Vehicle #2 was placed under arrest for Distribution of Class D and School Zone Violation. The operator of Vehicle #1 was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana under One Ounce.

OUIL: 4/7 at 2:23 AM- Beacon St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling on the Green Line MBTA tracks on Beacon St. The vehicle then left the tracks at the intersection of Beacon St. and Pleasant St. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Beacon St. Upon reaching the driver’s window the officer could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Based on the observations, the driver was placed under arrest for Operating under the Influence of Liquor.

Sector 1

Shoplifting: 4/5 at 6:07 PM- Commonwealth Ave.

A CVS employee reported a shoplifter. The employee stated that she observed an individual conceal items and leave the store without paying. A search of the area yielded negative results. The suspect was described as a white female, approximately 5"2", with dark hair and wearing sunglasses and a leopard print vest. The suspect fled in a blue Mustang.

Operating after Revocation: 4/6 at 6:25 PM- Green St.

An officer observed a vehicle make a prohibited left turn from Harvard St. onto Green St.  The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Green Street. A query revealed that the driver had a revoked license. The driver was then placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation.

Sector 2

Arrest: 4/6 at 12:16 AM- Parkway Rd. / Brookline Ave.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling with a rejected inspection sticker. A query revealed that a passenger had a warrant out of Wrentham District Court. The passenger was placed under arrest for the warrant.

Burglary: Between 4/5 and 4/6- Beacon St.

A Beacon St. reported a breaking and entering. The victim stated that she entered her bedroom and discovered a large amount of gold jewelry to be missing. There were no signs of forced entry.

Sector 3

Burglary: 4/6 between 9:30 AM and 11:59 PM- Summit Ave.

A Summit Ave resident reported a breaking and entering. The victim stated that sometime between 9:30 AM and 11:59 PM, someone entered her residence and removed an envelope containing a large amount of cash from a dresser drawer.

Sector 7

Operating after Suspension: 4/5 at 6:69 PM- High St.

A query revealed that the registered owner of a vehicle had a suspended license. The officer conducted a traffic stop on High St. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 9

Burglary: Between 4/5 and 4/6- Bonad Rd.

A Bonad Rd. resident reported that sometime between 6:00 PM on 4/5 and 8:00 Am on 4/6, some unknown person had crawled under his back deck and entered the unlocked basement door of his house. This subject then stole a bicycle from the basement.

Police Reports 4/4-4/5

Malicious Damage: 4/5 between 1:40 and 2:06 AM- Freeman St.

Officers responded to Freeman St. for a report of loud talking and music. Upon returning to their cruiser the officers discovered that the spotlight attached to the vehicle had been broken off. The investigation is ongoing.

Sector 1

Assault: 4/4 at 2:39 PM- Harvard St.

An individual reported that he had just been assaulted in the area of Harvard St. The victim stated that he was handing out newspapers when a male suspect struck him in the hand/wrist area. An individual was located on Beacon St. and the victim confirmed this to be the suspect. The suspect will be summonsed to court for Assault and Battery.

Sector 2

Shoplifting: 4/5 at 11:14 AM- Harvard St.

A Walgreens employee reported a shoplifter. The employee stated that she observed an individual concealing items in his jacket. The individual then left the store without paying for the items. An individual matching the description was located in the vicinity. The individual was confirmed to be the shoplifter and he was placed under arrest for Shoplifting and a warrant.

Sector 5

Breaking and Entering Arrest: 4/4 at 8:30 PM- Blake Rd.

Officers responded to a residence on Blake Rd. for a report of a live breaking and entering. The resident heard glass breaking and called the police. A responding officer spotted an individual walking away from the scene. When the subject was approached he took off running on Stanton Road.  Units searched the Stanton, Somerset and Greenough Street area. Brookline officers were assisted by a Boston K9.   A short time later the subject was spotted coming out of an alley at Cypress Street and Washington Street. The subject was seen getting into the passenger side of a vehicle that was parked on Cypress Street near Washington Street. As a result of the investigation, a twenty year old male from Boston was arrested and will be charged with Breaking and Entering in the night time with intent to commit a felony, Malicious Destruction of Property and Resisting Arrest.
