M/V Crash, Two arrest, Injury to child
Based upon the information the officers had the Driver was arrested and charged with OUIL , Leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with injury and Operating without a license. Also as a result of the preliminary investigation an ICE detainer has been requested by this Department.
The passenger has been arrested and charged with Allowing through wanton or reckless conduct substantial bodily injury to a child and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The passenger is the owner of the vehicle.
The child passenger was taken from the scene to the Children’s Hospital, where they underwent surgery. The child has been listed as critical but in stable condition.
Traffic investigators have taken over the investigation which is still ongoing, part of which has led to the request for a search warrant for the vehicle.

Police Reports 1/12-1/13
Arrest: Occurred on 1/13 at 6:14 AM- Longwood Ave.
Officer observed a white BMW travelling on Harvard St. that was not operating safely in a marked lane. The operator then failed to signal when switching lanes. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Longwood Ave. A query of the operator revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, Marked Lanes Violation and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.
Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/13 at 12:17 AM- Boylston St.
Officer was monitoring traffic on Boylston St. when she observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that her diver's license was suspended. The driver was issued a citation for speeding and operating after suspension and she will be summonsed to court for those offenses.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/12 at 10:10 PM- Washington St.
Officer was traveling on Washington St when he observed a red SUV. A query of the vehicle indicated that the registered owner had an active warrant. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Washington St. The driver was confirmed to be the person associated with the active warrant and was placed in handcuffs. The officer could detect a strong odor of fresh marijuana emanating from his clothing and the arrestee told the officer that there was marijuana inside his jacket pocket. The officer located a large bag of what was believed to be marijuana.
Officers could detect a strong odor of fresh marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A passenger consented to a search of her backpack which revealed what was believed to be more than one ounce of marijuana. The passenger was then placed under arrest.
The driver stated to police that he buys marijuana from the passenger. The driver was issued a By-Law citation for Possession of Marijuana Less than One Ounce, and criminally charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law, Possession of Class E-drug and his warrant from West Roxbury District Court. The passenger was charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law, Drug Free School Zone Violation of Controlled Substance Act and Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute.
Shoplifting: Occurred on 1/12 at 4:36 PM- Harvard St.
Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at CVS on Harvard St. Employees identified the 3 individuals who were involved in shoplifting in their store. A CVS employee told police that she observed one suspect bend down to take something from the bottom of a shelf, open up her bag and then quickly walk behind a second individual for concealment. The suspect consented to a search of her bag which revealed an item from CVS. She could not produce a receipt for the item and an inventory check confirmed that the item was missing.
Based on these facts she was placed under arrest for shoplifting. Also in her possession were two pairs of earrings that were confirmed stolen from a Mint Julep store on Beacon St. in Brookline. She will be charged with 2 counts of shoplifting. The other two individuals were also placed under arrested for shoplifting- joint venture.

Police Reports 1/11-1/12
Attempted Robbery: Occurred on 1/11 at 10:30 PM- Beacon St.
Officers responded to the Washington Square Trolley Station on a report of two women fighting. Upon arrival officers located a male witness and a female party, who described another woman that had been involved who fled towards an alley across the street. The officer located the woman and asked her where she was coming from. She was unsteady on her feet and her answers did not make sense.
Officer then spoke with the victim, who stated that she had taken the trolley to the Washington Square stop. After departing the trolley, the victim felt someone pulling at her pocketbook, which she identified as the other woman. The victim began to yell for help and the two women struggled over the pocketbook. The two women ended up on the ground, with the offender on top of the victim, choking her. The victim was finally able to get the attacker off of her, at which time the offender walked away. The offender was placed under arrest and charged with one count of Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob or Steal.
B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 7:30 and 10:30 PM- Toxteth St.
Victim reports that sometime between 7:30 and 10:30 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle and removed his GPS unit.
B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 8:00 and 9:30 PM- Kent St.
Victim reports that sometime between 8:00 and 9:30 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and removed her GPS unit and a hand bag.
B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 8:30 and 9:15 PM- Stearns Rd.
Victim reports that some time between 8:30 and 9:15 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle and removed a GPS unit.
Motor Vehicle Pursuit: Occurred on 1/12 at 1:01 AM- Beacon St.
Officer was on patrol on Beacon Street when he observed a vehicle operating without headlights. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver produced the registration, but stated that he did not have a license. The driver then suddenly shifted the vehicle into drive and rapidly accelerated on Beacon Street.
The officer returned to the cruiser and pursued the vehicle on Beacon Street. The officer observed the vehicle turn onto Strathmore Road and lost sight of it upon reaching the fork. At this point the officer terminated the pursuit. A query of the suspect revealed that his driver’s license is revoked. The suspect was issued citation for Failure to Stop for Police, Operating to Endanger and Operating Without Headlights at a Time of Darkness.

Police Reports 1/10-1/11
Arrest: Occurred on 1/11 at 2:47 AM- Harvard St.
Officer traveling on Harvard St. noticed a Toyota Camry not staying within the solid marked lanes. At several points the vehicle swerved from the right to left, crossing over the white line that separates the lane from the shoulder. Several times the vehicle traveled over marked parking spaces. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the driver indicated that his right to operate a vehicle had expired. The driver was then placed under arrest. He was issued a citation for Marked Lanes Violation and Not Duly Licensed.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/11 at 12:04 AM- Beacon St.
Officer observed a Toyota Corolla traveling on Beacon St. driving over the painted lines separating the lanes in the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop for failure to operate safely within a marked lane. A query of the driver revealed that the vehicle had a suspended registration and that the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest. During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers found a small bag containing marijuana. The driver was issued a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration, Marked Lanes Violation and Possession of Marijuana.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/10 at 10:30 AM- Cypress St.
Officer was conducting traffic enforcement when he observed a sedan turn from Boylston St. onto Cypress St. without signaling. The officer initiated a traffic stop. A check with the Registry of Motor Vehicles revealed that her license was suspended. She was then placed under arrest. The driver was issued a citation for operating after suspension, failure to use turn signal, and no license in possession.

Suspects in B&E Arrested by State Police
A Toyota Corolla taken from a Kent Sq. residence during a breaking and entering on 1/9 was recovered after a traffic stop by the Massachusetts State Police in Arlington. A state trooper made a traffic stop of the vehicle in Arlington, and the two occupants of the car were arrested. Several others items taken from the Kent Sq. residence were found inside the vehicle.
Police Reports 1/9-1/10
Burglary: Occurred on 1/10 at 2:00 AM- Kent Sq.
Officer was dispatched to a Kent Square residence to take a report of a Breaking and Entering. The victim explained that she had arrived home in the early morning of 1/10 after being away from her home for several days. She noticed that some of her possessions had been moved around and that dresser drawers had been opened. Several items were reported missing from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and office areas. It is believed that the perpetrator/s entered through a window.
Burglary: Occurred on 1/9 between 4:30 and 5:00 AM- Kent Sq.
Officer was dispatched to a Kent Sq. residence for a Breaking and Entering report. The victims heard footsteps on the stairs and in the hallway between 4:30 and 5:00 AM., but they believed it to be another member of their family. It was also noted that the door to the back hall stairs was open. When the residents of the home awoke to go to work, they realized that one of the cars that had been parked in the driveway was missing. Throughout the house, several items had been moved about and several items were reported missing, including the automobile. It is believed that the perpetrator/s entered through the basement door.
Motor Vehicle Accident: Occurred on 1/9 at 4:23 PM- Harvard St.
A vehicle was turning left into TJ Max parking lot when a cyclist was traveling on Harvard Street. The vehicle struck the cyclist with its front bumper. The cyclist was knocked over and transported to Beth Israel Hospital for a foot injury. The operator will be cited for failure to yield.

Police Reports 1/6-1/9
Officer was observing traffic in the Coolidge Corner area when she observed a white Lincoln Towncar merge into the right “Straight Only Lane” and then make an abrupt left turn from the right lane. The officer then observed this vehicle swerve several times to both sides of the travel lane. This vehicle came to a stop at a red light while in the right lane with the left turn signal activated. As the light turned green the operator quickly turned right onto Beacon Street which is where the officer initiated a traffic stop.
While the officer was speaking with the driver, she could detect a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from the inside of the vehicle, and the operator had slurred speech, and glassy red eyes. The driver agreed to partake in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver was impaired due to alcohol intoxication. She was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor. Her license was seized and destroyed and she was notified that her license would be suspended.
O.U.I.L: Occurred on 1/8 at 4:05 AM- Cypress St.
Officer was parked in the driveway of the Pierce School when she observed a hatchback style vehicle drive past her at a very high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Cypress St. While talking to the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. The driver agreed to take part in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired due to alcohol and he was placed under arrest. The driver was issued a citation for Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and Speeding.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/6 at 10:15 PM- Boylston St.
Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Boylston St. when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the outside lane. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that his license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension and speeding.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/7 at 1:08 AM- Washington St.
Officer was monitoring traffic on Franklin St at the intersection of Cypress St. The officer observed a grey colored SUV travelling on Cypress St. come to a complete stop without illuminating a directional or hazard warning lights. The vehicle was stopped for a short time and then continued on Cypress St. The officer then initiated a traffic stop for impeding flow of traffic. A query of the operator revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
Arrest: Occurred on 1/9 at 2:00 AM- Boylston St.
Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Boylston St in Brookline. The officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Boylston St. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that the driver did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle. The driver was placed into custody for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/8 at 5:29 PM- Boylston St.
Officer was traveling on Harvard St. when he noticed a black Nissan Frontier with a 2011 sticker showing. A query indicated the vehicle's registration status was expired and also indicated that the registered owner had an expired license. The officer then initiated a traffic stop on Boylston St. Upon talking to the operator, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer observed in plain view a pipe in the center console with burnt residue inside. The driver then voluntarily turned over a case which contained a substance believed to be marijuana and more drug paraphernalia. The driver was informed that he was going to be summonsed to court for Operating with an Expired License and Operating with an Expired Registration. He was also issued Town By-Law Citation for Possession of Less than One Ounce of Marijuana.
