Police Reports 6/14-6/15

Arrest: Occurred on 6/15 at 1:41 AM- Harvard St./ Beacon St.

A vehicle was traveling on Harvard St. without any headlights. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Harvard St. and Beacon St. A query revealed that the car had been reported stolen from Lynn earlier in the evening. The query also revealed that the driver did not have a valid license. The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License.

Shoplifting: Occurred on 6/14 at 10:06 PM- Beacon St.

A Trader Joe’s employee reported a shoplifter. The employee stated that she observed several items from the store in a female subject’s personal bag. The employee then observed the subject leave the store without paying for the items. The subject was placed under arrest for Shoplifting.

Road Closures for Flag Day Parade

The following is a list of road closure for the Flag Day parade, Sunday June 17th.

At 9:45 AM Cypress Street will be closed from Rt 9 to Washington.
All cross roads off there as well will be closed for the Kids road race to CVS and back. (Davis to Cypress to Washington and back)

At 10:15  The parade route will be closed. Harvard Street from Washington street in the village all the way to the Town line at Brainard will be closed. All  roads that intersect to Harvard  along the parade route will be barricaded a block back from Harvard Street.
At 10:30 the adult race gets underway and runs the parade route ( cuts up School Street.)
At Approximately 11:15 AM Harvard Street from Washington to  Beacon Street will open to allow traffic to pass. No side streets will be opened except Longwood AV. and Station street, during this time frame the whole lenght of Washington St will be open.

AT 11:45 Harvard and Washington street will close again for the parade. All streets will be closed  until approximately 2:00PM

Police Reports 6/13-6/14

Shoplifting: Occurred on 6/13 at 4:12 PM- Beacon St.

A CVS employee reported a shoplifting. The employee stated that he observed a female subject take items from the store shelf and place them in her purse, then exit without paying. The subject was placed under arrest for Shoplifting.

Larceny: Occurred on 6/11- Freeman St.

A Freeman St. resident reported the theft of a package. The victim stated that the package was confirmed delivered on June 11 at 10:56 AM. When she returned at 6:00 PM that same day, the package was not present.

Police Reports 6/12-6/13

Arrest: Occurred on 6/13 at 5:56 AM- Woodstock Rd./ Belvista Rd.

A query of a vehicle’s information revealed that the registered owner had a straight warrant out of Brighton District Court. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Woodstock Ave and Belvista Rd. The operator was confirmed to be the registered owner and he was placed under arrest. He will be charged with the warrant as well as Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License.

OUIL: Occurred on 6/13 at 1:00 AM- Harvard St.

A vehicle was operating at night without headlights. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Harvard St. Upon reaching the driver’s window, the officer could detect an odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. Based on the observations, the driver was placed under arrest for Operating under the Influence of Liquor and Open Container.

Arrest: Occurred on 6/12 at 6:00 PM- Boylston St.

A vehicle was traveling without an inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. A query of the driver’s information revealed that she had an expired/ non-renewable license, as well as a straight warrant out of Lynn District Court. The operator was placed under arrest for Not Duly Licensed and the warrant.

Car Seat Inspection Checkpoint 6/16

Brookline Police Department will be hosting a child safety seat inspection checkpoint on Saturday June 16, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The checkpoint will be held at 22 High St. Certified technicians will be available to install and inspect child safety seats. Appointments are suggested, to make an appointment please call 617-730-2603.

Search Warrant Produces Cache of Weapons

Within the last 4 days the Brookline Police had developed information that a large cache of weapons was inside a residence located at 181 Harvard Street in Brookline.  The Police Department applied for and received a search warrant for 181 Harvard Street.  The warrant was issued by the Brookline District Court and executed at 5:00pm on Monday, June 11, 2012. 

Richard Becker of Brookline was subsequently arrested and charged with numerous firearms violations.

Recovered were 36 firearms included 14 high powered weapons, several silencers and a large collection of high powered ammunition capable of penetrating bullet proof vests.

Mr. Becker is due in Brookline District Court today Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

Police Reports 6/11-6/12

Arrest: Occurred on 6/12 at 12:49 AM- Washington St.

A query of a vehicle’s information revealed that the registered owner had a warrant for her arrest. The officer conducted a stop on Washington St. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, and she was placed under arrest for the default warrant.

MV Theft: Occurred between 6/10 and 6/11- Village Way

An individual reported the theft of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle on Village Way on 6/10 at approximately 5:00 PM. When he returned the next day at approximately 4:30 PM, he discovered that his vehicle was missing.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred between 6/10 and 6/11- Wallis Rd.

A Wallis Rd. resident reported the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle in his driveway at approximately 5:30 PM on 6/10. When he returned the next morning he discovered that the front passenger window was smashed. A radar detector was stolen from the vehicle.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred between 6/10 and 6/11- Beverly Rd.

A Beverly Rd. resident reported the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle in his driveway at approximately 5:00 PM on 6/10. When he returned the next morning he discovered that the front passenger window had been broken. A GPS unit was stolen from the vehicle.

Police Reports 6/8-6/11

OUIL: Occurred on 6/10 at 1:55 AM- Hammond Pond Pkwy./ Boylston St.

A vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Boylston St. The vehicle continued driving, weaving back and forth and swaying off the roadway. The officer was able to conduct a traffic stop on Boylston St. Upon reaching the driver’s window, the officer could detect an odor of alcohol emanating from her person. Based on the information, the driver was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor.

Arrest: Occurred on 6/9 at 1:50 PM- John St.

A vehicle failed to stop for pedestrians in the marked crosswalk on John St. The officer conducted a traffic stop on John St. A query of the driver’s information revealed that he had a warrant out for his arrest. The operator was placed under arrest for the warrant.

MV Theft: Occurred between 6/6 and 6/9- Thatcher St.

A Thatcher St. resident reported the theft of her motor vehicle. The victim stated that she last parked her vehicle in the rear of her Thatcher St. residence on 6/6 at 8:20 PM. When she returned on 6/9, she discovered the vehicle was missing.

Arrest: Occurred on 6/9 at 6:44 PM- Cypress St./ Stanton Rd.

A query of a vehicle’s information revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license as well as a warrant for her arrest. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Cypress St. and Stanton Rd. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, and she was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension and the warrant out of Brookline District Court.

Arrest: Occurred on 6/9 at 3:23 AM- Harvard St.

A query of a vehicle’s information revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Harvard St. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.
