Thursday, February 14th

6:44PM: There were reports of found keys on Babcock Street. Brookline Fire Department was given a set of keys found by an anonymous person. There are no identifying objects or marks on the key ring that could help us identify the owner. The keys are safety locked up in an evidence locker until someone comes to claim them.

8:00PM: Officers were dispatched to Winchester Street for two reports of hit and run motor vehicle accidents. Both of the reporting parties were not present when their cars were damaged. Both vehicles had driver side damage and one of the car’s mirrors had also been damaged. Because of the proximity of time and physical closeness of the vehicles, it is possible these crimes were committed by the same person. Police are investigating.

9:02PM: There were reports of shoplifting on Beacon Street. The reporting party described the man he saw steal from their business. Upon arrival, officers noticed a man on the corner of Harvard Street that matched the description. When they approached him he eventually admitted to taking the items. He then returned the items to the store and conversed with the manager about no longer being allowed in the business. The suspect is being summoned to court for shoplifting.

Burglary Arrest Report

On February 7, 2019, two officers were advised by dispatch that a residential breaking and entering just occurred at Colbourne Crescent. The officers then advised Brookline Police Dispatch that multiple unmarked police units were following the suspect vehicle involved. The vehicle was described as a Silver Honda traveling on Jamaica Way at Brookline Ave. One of the officers requested a marked unit to start in the direction to assist the unmarked units.

Traveling on Washington Street in a marked unit, an officer let dispatchers know that she would respond to the call. As she was traveling on the Jamaica Way, traffic backed and became congested due to vehicles stopping at the red light at the intersection of Jamaica Way at Willow Pond Road. At this time four unmarked cruisers came from the direction of Byner Road and Willow Pond Road, and conducted a felony car stop. At this time the officer and a Boston Detective approached the operator of the suspect vehicle and advised the suspect to exit the vehicle.  The suspect exited the vehicle and they placed him in handcuffs without incident.

Prior to transportation to the station, officers searched the suspect. One officer located a red Buddah statue and a $20.00 bill in the suspects right front pants pocket. The other located many pieces of jewelry, a stack of US currency, and two keys in the man's left front pants pocket.  Due to the investigation involving a residential breaking and entering, all jewelry and US currency were placed in evidence bags and brought back to the Brookline Police Station and deemed as evidence.

The officers then inventoried all jewelry, the Buddha statue and US currency that was in the possession of the suspect.

The total US currency that was located on the suspect was $886.75 US Dollars.

A breakdown of the US currency was:   

44 US $20 bills, totaling $880 US dollars 

27 US quarters, totaling $6.75 US dollars.

The officers present photographed all property and US currency that was taken for evidence. 

Saturday, February 9th

12:19PM: There were reports of a past larceny on Beacon Street. A woman told officers that she had three packages stolen from her foyer between 1/4/19 and 1/6/19. All items were delivered from Amazon. Police are investigating.

2:22PM: A father and son came into Brookline to report a larceny of a bike. The boy rode the bike to Brookline High School on Wednesday, 2/6, and locked it on the bicycle rack at 8:30am. On 2/7 at approximately 8:20am, the boy went to retrieve the bike and found it missing. The bike lock was left behind and still intact. The bike is described as a black Trek FX2 bicycle with blue lettering and a rack on the back. This case is being investigated.

Friday, February 8th

11:21AM: Officers responded to reports of a past attempted theft from a mailbox. The reporting party stated that a few days ago he noticed the lid of the mailbox bent. When he asked his wife, she told him she noticed the condition roughly 2 weeks ago. The reporting party also recently noticed some fraudulent activity on his bank account. At this time it does not appear any mail was stolen from the mailbox. This case is being investigated.

11:46AM: Units were dispatched to the area of Harvard Street at Longwood Avenue for a report of a past shoplifter walking in the area. A month prior, the manager of a store noticed a man leave without paying for some items. She took a mental note of the man and his attire. On 2/6, she saw the man in the store again. When she checked the surveillance tapes, she noticed him steal several items. At approximately 11:50am, the manager saw the man again, in the same jacket, and called police. The suspect was positively identified and summons into court for shoplifting.

5:29PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon Street for reports of shoplifting. An employee notified his manager after recognizing a man who had previous incidents of suspicious activity in the establishment. The suspect entered the business with a paper bag and began placing items into the paper bag. He placed his jacket over the bag, and proceeded to checkout. He did not pay for any of the items in the paper bag. The reporting party stopped the suspect as he tried to flee and officers arrived on scene shortly after. The suspect was arrested for shoplifting.

Thursday, February 7th

1:16PM: There were reports of malicious damage to an automobile on Sherman Road. The reporting party stated that she parked her car at 9:30am and returned at approximately 12:45pm that afternoon and found her left rear window smashed. Police are investigating.

5:17PM: A restaurant on Harvard Street reported they found several baby clothes items in a plastic bag behind a trash can in their men’s room. The clothes still had price tags on them. A check of a nearby store confirmed that they did not sell that particular brand of  clothes. The items were placed into evidence for safe keeping. The case is being investigated.

6:45PM: Police were dispatched to Colbourne Crescent for reports of a breaking and entering which has just occurred. Officers arrived and noticed a broken window and signs that the home was ransacked. The son of the home owner confirmed that cash, jewelry, and electronic devices were stolen from the home. Police are investigating.
