12/21-12/22

MV Crash:

Occurred on 12/21 at 7:54 PM – Beacon St./Kent St.

Officers responded for a MV crash. A witness stated that a taxi was traveling on Kent St., and it entered the intersection of Beacon St. on a green light. Another vehicle then entered the intersection on a red light and struck the taxi. The cab driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Occurred on 12/21 at 5:21 PM – Hammond St./Rt. 9

MV #1 was pulling out of the parking lot of Star Market, and struck MV #2 in the rear. MV #2 then struck MV #4, and MV #1 then struck MV #3. There were no reported injuries.

Larceny:

Occurred on 12/21 at 6:01 PM – CVS (730 Commonwealth Ave.)

Officers responded for an attempted shoplifting at CVS. Dispatch broadcast a description of the suspect as a white male with dark hair wearing a black jacket and carrying a red bag. The Loss Prevention officer stated that the male entered the store with a stack of receipts, and went through the aisles, attempting to match the products to one of the receipts. He then selected an item off the shelf, and headed to the register to attempt to return it using one of the receipts. When approached by the officer, the suspect fled the store.

Occurred on 12/21 at 2:40 PM – Gap (306 Harvard St.)

Officers responded for a shoplifter that had been stopped by store employees. The Loss Prevention officer recognized the suspect from a prior incident at the Copley Square store. He decided to follow her around the store, and he observed her place items in a clear, plastic shopping bag.

The suspect was placed under arrest, and a criminal complaint was filed with the Brookline District Court.

Suspicious Package:

Occurred on 12/21 at 12:21 PM – Longwood Ave./Chapel St.

Dispatch received a call from Boston regarding a suspicious package under the bridge in the Longwood and Chapel St. area. A section of Longwood Ave. was shut down from the Boston Line to Longwood and Kent. The package was 2 Styrofoam blocks attached to a couple of rods at the bank of the Muddy River. There was also a blue canister that was attached. The Boston Bomb squad arrived and X-rayed the item. After further investigation, it was determined that the package was not suspicious.

Burglary:

Occurred on 12/20 at between 3:30 and 7:30 PM – Brookline High School (115 Greenough St.)

Officers responded for a report of a past breaking and entering into the school store. Entry was made through a window, where the screen and the metal frame were cut. It did not appear as though anything of value was stolen and the safe was intact. There was a basketball game, so more students than usual were in the school until 7:30 PM.

Receive Stolen Property:

Occurred on 12/18 – CVS (1195 Boylston St.)

Officers responded to speak with a person regarding a lost iPad. The victim was shopping at CVS and mistakenly left it in her shopping cart. The next day she was contacted by someone who had found it and stated he could return it for a "Finder’s Fee". The victim decided to contact the police, who were able to locate the suspect based on his phone number and an RMV check of his name. He will be summonsed into Brookline District Court for Receiving Stolen Property.

12/20-12/21

Larceny:

Occurred on 12/20 between 11:38 AM and 4 PM – Longwood Ave.

Officers responded to take a report of a package larceny. The tracking revealed it was delivered at 11:38 AM, but when she checked the foyer at 4 PM, the package was missing.

12/19-12/20

Larceny:

Occurred on 12/17 between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM – Littell Rd.

Officers responded to take a report for a package theft. The victim stated that when he arrived home he discovered the box had been ripped open and a camera had been removed.

Another resident on Littell Rd reported an attempted larceny. The box was ripped open and there was a children’s toy inside, but it was left behind. That package was delivered at 1:06 PM and was discovered ripped open at approximately 4:30 PM.

MV Crash:

Occurred on 12/19 at 3:24 PM – Cypress St.

While traveling north on Cypress St, MV #1 drifted to the right and struck a town tree. The operator, admitted to being distracted by his GPS just prior to striking the tree and knocking it to the ground. He was issued a citation for marked lanes violation.

Graffiti:

Occurred 12/19-12/20 – Wulf’s Fish Market (409 Harvard St.)

An employee of Wulf’s reported that overnight, someone had tagged the front plate glass window, by etching unintelligible graffiti on to it with an unknown instrument. Upon further investigation of the surrounding area, it was found that several businesses had similar damage, some which had been there for a while and were never reported. Temple Beth Pinchas also reported seeing new graffiti on their doors. All of the businesses have been advised and encouraged to report future incidents to the police.

12/16-12/19

Malicious Damage:

Occurred on 12/18 – Longwood Ave.

Officers responded to the area for for a report of suspicious activity.

The victim reported at 10:30 AM he found his front living room window damaged. A bb pellet was found stuck in the door jamb and it appeared to have been shot from the street or the opposite sidewalk. The victim did not report hearing any suspicious noises or glass breaking over the night.

B&E&L of MV:

Occurred on 12/16-12/17 – Brookline Ave.

Officers responded for a report of a B&E&L from a motor vehicle. The victim stated he parked his vehicle at approximately 4:30 AM, and when he came back at 8 AM, he noticed the passenger side window was smashed. A GPS, a winter jacket, and a box of tools were stolen.

Occurred 12/16-12/17 – Chapel St.

Officers responded for report of a B&E&L of a motor vehicle. The victim left her car parked at approximately 11:35 PM, and when she returned back this morning the window was smashed and her bag and belongings were taken.

OUI:

Occurred on 12/17 at 12:58 AM – Harvard St./Longwood Ave.

Officer M. Lee was monitoring traffic at Harvard St/Longwood Av when he observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Beacon St, cross the stop line and go through the intersection of Beacon St/Harvard St on a red light. The vehicle was stopped a short while later by Sergeant Paster, who also observed it go through the red light. Paster also observed that the vehicle was swerving within its lane and crossing the white dotted line. The vehicle nearly struck the sidewalk/handicap accessible ramp at Beacon St./Summit Ave.

After further investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for Failure to Stop, Red Light, Failure to Stay within Marked Lanes, and Operating Under the Influence (Liquor)

Shoplifting:

Occurred on 12/17 at 5:30 PM – TJ Maxx (525 Harvard St.)

Officer Mayer responded to T.J.Maxx for a report of 2 shoplifters that were being held by security. A winter hat, 2 shirts, and 2 bottles of nail polish were taken. A register receipt was made listing theses items and placed into evidence.

A check of one of them revealed and confirmed that he had an outstanding default warrant in effect for his arrest for traffic offenses, and he was subsequently arrested. The other suspect was issued a verbal no trespass order by a Loss Prevention officer.

Larceny:

Occurred between 12/10-12/18 – James St.

Officers responded to take a past larceny report. The victims stated that on 12/10 she removed two luggage bags out of storage and left them unsecured in the basement storage area. On 12/18, she could not locate them. All the residents have access to this area, as well as meter readers and cleaners.

Occurred on 12/17 at 3:45 PM – Beacon St./St. Paul St.

A victim reported a larceny of her cell phone. She had a party in her apartment and noticed the phone was missing afterwards. She activated the GPS and discovered it was at an apartment on Commonwealth Ave., but could not locate it further than that.

Occurred on 12/16 between 9 AM and 5:45 PM – Sterns Rd.

Officers were dispatched for report of a stolen package. The victim left his apartment at 9 AM, and when he returned at 5:45 AM he discovered the package ripped open at the top of the stairs.

Occurred on 12/16 between 11:30 and 4:30 PM – St. Paul St.

Officers responded for a report of a larceny of a package. The victim stated his package was delivered at 11:30 AM, and when he arrived home at 4:30 PM, he noticed that the package had been opened and its contents missing.

The same individual was also a victim of a package larceny on 12/7, between 10:30 AM and 6 PM.

MV Crash:

Occurred on 12/16 at 1:45 PM – Coolidge Corner

Officers responded for a MV crash. MV #1 was travelling eastbound on Beacon St when MV #2 made an improper left turn from Harvard St onto Beacon St and struck MV #1. MV #1 was towed, and the operator of MV #2 was issued a citation for an improper left turn.

Occurred on 12/16 at 10:47 AM – Clyde St./Country Rd.

Officers responded for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The operator of MV #1 reported that he was traveling southbound on Clyde St. approaching the intersection with Lee St. He then attempted to turn left onto Country Rd. from the left lane on the southbound side of Clyde St. MV #2 was traveling in the left lane southbound from Lee St. onto Clyde St. They crashed, and the operator of MV #2 was transported to the hospital.
