O.U.I.L: 09/19/2013 at 5:38 p.m. – Beacon St./ Carlton
An officer was dispatched to Beacon St. after receiving a report of an erratic driver. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer saw the vehicle in question had struck another vehicle and both were parked in the left travel lane. While speaking with the suspect, the officer noticed the suspect had trouble focusing, slurred his speech, and had bloodshot eyes. Based upon these observations the officer concluded the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor.

An officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the driver’s information revealed he had a suspended license. The driver was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension.

Larceny: 09/18/2013 at 6:30 p.m. – Harvard St.
An officer was dispatched to Harvard St. after receiving a report of larceny. The officer was met by the victim who stated she left her unlocked bicycle in the parking garage. When she returned for it several hours later, the bike was missing. A request to view the garage’s video surveillance has been filed.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Boylston St., right before Hammond St. A query of the driver’s information revealed he had a suspended license. He was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension. An inventory of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing over an ounce of marijuana. The driver was also charged with Possession of a Class D Drug.

Larceny: 09/18/2013 at 5:49 p.m. – Kent St.
An officer was dispatched to Kent St. to receive a report of a past larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated she only recently discovered two valuable pieces of jewelry missing. The items were placed in a drawer in May, and the victim had not attempted to retrieve them until this time. The only people to gain entry to the apartment unsupervised were maintenance workers. The management company is currently working with the victim to produce a list of those who had access to her apartment.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. to take a report of a larceny. The officer was met by the store manager who stated the store had received a shipment of furniture earlier in the day. The items were briefly left on the street in front of the store unattended. When the employees returned they saw several items were missing.

An officer received a report on September 17, 2013 while on the desk about a stolen cell phone. The reporting party stated he believes he accidently left his cell phone in the laundry room of his apartment building. By the time he realized his mistake and returned to the laundry room, the cell phone was gone.

Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle: 09/17/2013 at 4:00 p.m. – Colchester St.
An officer was dispatched to a residence on Colchester St. for a report of a Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. The officer was met by the victim who stated his vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence all day while he worked on the property. When the victim returned to his vehicle he noticed several items were missing amongst them a GPS and work tools.

Burglary: 09/07/2013 at 4:00 p.m. – Codman Rd.
An officer was dispatched to a residence on Codman Rd. after receiving a report of a Breaking and Entering. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated she noticed dirt tracked into the guest room of her home and damage to a window. Further investigation of the scene revealed the screen of the guest room window had been cut. According to the victim, the area of the house where the guest room is located is not often used and she could not be sure when the window may have been damaged. No property appears to be missing at this time.

Several officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who stated she saw the suspect take a bottle of alcohol and place it in a bag before walking out of the store. Two employees followed the suspect to Sewall Ave. Officers were able to locate the suspect and he was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Thorndike St. to take a report of a past Breaking and Entering. The officer was met by the owner who had been informed by a workman that the side door of his home appeared to have been broken into. The house was under construction and uninhabited. An officer was dispatched to Goddard Ave after receiving a report of a potential fraud. The officer was met by the victim, who stated she had been contemplating a loan but had decided against it, since then she had received phone calls from someone claiming to be from the State Investigation Department. The officer made contact with the man claiming to be from the State Investigation Department and identified himself as a police officer. The man was vague and would not disclose his location. He was asked to call Brookline Police Department, but did not do so.

Not Duly Licensed: 09/12/2013 at 6:22 p.m. – BU Bridge
An officer observed a vehicle operator repeatedly honking his horn at other vehicles in an attempt to get them to move despite heavy pedestrian traffic. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the BU Bridge. A query of the driver’s information revealed that he was not duly licensed. He was issued a citation.

Drug Possession: 09/13/2013 at 1:29 p.m. – Babcock St.
Officers were dispatched to Babcock St. after receiving a report of drug use. Upon arrival, officers met the party in question. Officers asked the suspect to empty his pockets, which revealed a capped syringe and a prescription pill bottle. Along with prescription medication, the pill bottle contained a cotton ball with brown residue on it, which officers believed to be heroin. A query of the suspect’s information revealed he had two warrants out of Somerville District Court. He was placed under arrest for the warrants and Possession of a Class A Substance.

Officers were informed that two suspects, a male and female, left the store with several bottles of Tide without paying. A canvas of the area revealed the male suspect, who was carrying several bottles of Tide. A review of video surveillance confirmed the suspect was the same man from the store. Officers continued searching the area, but were unable to locate the female suspect. The suspect in custody was placed under arrest for Larceny.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Pleasant St. for a past larceny. The officer was met by the victim who stated she had a package delivered on August 30th, but found when she arrived home the package was not there. The victim had spoken with the landlord and neighbors, but no one reported seeing the package.

An officer received a report of larceny where the victim stated she left a large bag containing assorted clothing and items outside of her apartment to be collected by the organization Big Brother, Big Sister. After several hours she noticed the bag was missing. She called the organization to see if they had collected the bag and discovered they had not.
Larceny: 09/11/2013 at 7:50 a.m. – Mason Tr.
An officer was dispatched to Mason Tr. after receiving a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim stated his bicycle was stolen between September 6th and September 11th. His bike was unsecured and underneath an enclosed porch. A neighbor also reported her bike stolen from the area.
Arson: 09/15/2013 at 4:14 a.m. – Coolidge St.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Coolidge St. after receiving a report of arson. Upon arrival, the officers were met by the residents who had been awoken by a loud banging noise and the smell of smoke. Further investigation revealed a ring of fire inside the foyer, which was extinguished with aid from the Brookline Fire Department. One of the residents stated she had observed a male standing in their driveway, who walked towards Winchester St. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Further investigation revealed the right side passenger window of the resident’s car was smashed and objects from the glove compartment were strewn throughout the car. Nothing appeared to be missing according to the residents.

Upon arrival, the officer was met by the store’s owner who had arrived at work and noticed damage to the front door window. A review of video surveillance reveals a suspect attempting to kick in the door of the business around 2:30 a.m. The suspect fled the scene after his attempt to break in was unsuccessful.

An officer was dispatched to Harvard St. for a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist. The cyclist stated a vehicle abruptly cut him off, causing him to make contact with the right side of the vehicle before falling to the ground. The operator of the vehicle pulled over and assisted the cyclist until officers arrived. A query of the driver’s information revealed he had a suspended license. He was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension.

An officer was dispatched to the front desk in order to receive a report of larceny. The officer was met by the victim who stated her cell phone was taken from the mount on her bicycle, which was parked in front of her home. Though the cell phone was unsecured, the victim stated she only left it unattended for a few minutes. The victim was able to use AT&T’s tracking service to follow her phone to the MBTA Green Line stop in Brookline Village, but at this point was unable to follow it further as it was turned off.

An officer was dispatched to Walnut St. in order to receive a report of Larceny by False Pretense. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated he was contacted by a financial company called the National Aid Group for a new loan. He was informed that the company would close out a loan with Quicken Loan and the loan would then be switched to the National Aid Group. The victim sent three payments to the National Aid Group before being contacted by Quicken Loan informing him that his loan with them had not been closed out. The victim then tried to contact the National Aid Group with no success.

A random query of a vehicle’s information revealed the owner had a suspended license. An officer initiated a traffic stop on Washington St. The officer confirmed the operator was the owner of the vehicle. She was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Browne St. to receive a report of a past larceny. The officer was met by the victim who stated that while in class earlier in the day, she briefly left her cell phone unattended during which time it was stolen.
Assault: 09/14/2013 at 11:56 p.m. – Beacon St.
Officers were dispatched to Beacon St. after receiving a report of assault. An officer had been parked on Beacon St. when a male subject had approached her vehicle and attempted to gain access via the passenger door. The officer informed the man that it was a police vehicle and he should back away. The man continued to try and gain access to the vehicle, at which time the officer got out of the vehicle and asked the man for identification. The man then pushed the officer backwards. The officer was assisted by another officer to place the man in handcuffs. He was placed under arrest for Assault.
