March 4th

Arrest

Occurred 1:34PM (3/4) – 269 Harvard St.

Police executed a traffic stop for a driving violation. Upon identifying the driver, it was discovered that his license was suspended and that he had an active arrest warrant issued by Dedham Court. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest.

Occurred 5:05PM (3/4) – Mountfort St./Commonwealth Ave.

Police performed a traffic stop for a driving violation. The driver stated that she did not have a license. Upon confirmation of her license status, the driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle not duly licensed.

Graffiti

Occurred 6:59PM (3/4) – Tappan St./Beaconsfield Rd.

Police responded to a report of a suspect tagging a mailbox. The caller stated that the suspect exited from the passenger’s side of a vehicle and proceeded to mark the mailbox. The tag was similar to many that had been placed throughout the area.

Fraud

Occurred 7:01PM (3/4) – Sherman Rd.

Resident reported to police that she has previously been a victim to ID fraud and believes the same thing is happening now. She stated that false accounts were being created under Washington Mutual (now JP-Morgan) and believes another checking and savings account has been formed. Police are following up on the case.

Malicious Damage

Occurred 9:00AM (3/4) – Brookline Cemetery Walnut St.

Police responded to a report of malicious damage to town property. The complainants, Parks and Recreation employees, stated that they received a call in the morning that there was damage to numerous headstones in a town cemetery. They also observed beer cans strewn around the cemetery. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny

Occurred between 10:00PM (3/3) and 8:53AM (3/4) – 22 Chestnut Pl.

Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that when he approached his vehicle in the morning, he noticed that his left front tire and rim were missing and a cinderblock was left propping up the vehicle. Police are following up on the case.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Occurred between 7:00AM (2/26) and 4:51PM (3/6) – Welland Rd.

Victim reported to police that his locked vehicle had been broken into. Just change was missing from the center console. Police are following up on the case.

Weapons Violation

Occurred 9:05PM (3/3) – 361 Washington St.

Police responded to a report of a possible firearm found at the Brookline Public library. The caller stated that he moved a jacket that was on a table and felt heavy item in the pocket. Police located a handgun, with ammunition, and a cell phone inside the jacket pockets. Detectives were able to identify the suspect from surveillance video. Detectives visited the suspect’s home and he was subsequently arrested for unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a firearm, carrying a firearm while under the influence of liquor and possession of ammunition.

March 3rd

Arrest

Occurred 7:25PM (3/3) – 210 Chestnut St.

Police responded to a report of a man with several active arrest warrants that were issued by Brookline District Court. He was found to be at his mother’s house and was placed under arrest without incident. While arresting the suspect, officers noticed clothing that matched that of a library theft that had occurred back in December 2009. After further investigation, the man was charged with larceny from a building as well.

Malicious Damage

Occurred between 6:00PM (3/2) and 8:54AM (3/3) – 753 Boylston St.

Police responded to a report of malicious damage to a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he noticed his rear window was smashed when he went outside in the morning. There was also a dent in the frame of the rear window. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny


Occurred between 2:30PM and 4:30PM (3/3) – 66 Tappan St.

Victim reported to police that numerous personal items were missing form her backpack. She stated her backpack was in her locker in the girl’s locker room of the Brookline High School gym but did not have a lock to secure it. She later noticed that her wallet, cell phone, school ID, and several gift cards were missing. Police are following up on the case.

March 2nd

Arrest

Occurred 11:05PM (3/2) – 1266 Commonwealth Ave.

Police observed what appeared to be a drug transaction occur outside a CVS parking lot. Both persons involved were questioned and the suspected dealer was in possession of marijuana and several prescription medications. The suspected dealer was placed under arrest for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, and possession of a class B substance.

Assault

Occurred 12:37PM (3/2) – 278 Washington St.

Police responded to a report of assault on a town parking enforcement officer. The victim stated that she was issuing a ticket for an expired meter violation when the vehicle’s owner approached her, upset about the ticket. The owner proceeded to throw her coffee at the parking enforcement officer. When the victim contacted police dispatch, the owner fled the scene. The vehicle and the owner were later located, identified, and arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a public employee.

Fraud

Occurred between 12:22PM (1/17) and 12:22PM (3/2) – Harvard Ave.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim had been notified that her Capital One credit card was fraudulently used at a gas station in New Jersey. Along with this charge, there were also two additional charges made in Maryland. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny

Occurred between 3:00PM and 5:00PM (3/1) – 115 Greenough St.

Police responded to a report of larceny at the gym at Brookline High School. Two students stated their Northface jackets to be missing after a volleyball game. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred between 2:50PM and 4:40PM (3/2) – Tappan St.

Victim reported to police that her jacket, containing her wallet and other valuables, was stolen from the Brookline High School gym. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred between 12:00PM (1/27) and 12:00PM (2/25) – Cary Rd.

Police responded to a report of a past larceny. The complainant stated that home healthcare workers have been caring for her father in his home. Over the past few weeks they have noticed that numerous items are missing from the house. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred between 11:30PM (3/1) and 5:20PM (3/2) – Regent Cr.

Police responded to a report of larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she noticed that her vehicle’s glove box and center console were open. The items that were missing were money that had been located in the ashtray, a roll of quarters, and several gift cards. Police are following up on the case.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Occurred between 1:00AM and 10:15AM (3/2) – Welland Rd.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that upon returning to his car, he noticed that his items were strewn around the vehicle. The car had been left unlocked and only some change appears to have been taken. Police are following up on the case.

March 1st

Arrest

  • Occurred 8:33PM (2/28) – Mountfort St./Essex St.

Police executed a traffic stop for a driving violation. Upon identifying the driver, it was discovered that her driver’s license was suspended. The officers also noticed the vehicle she was driving had an expired inspection sticker. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest.

  • Occurred 10:27PM (2/28) – 525 Harvard St.

Police performed a traffic stop for defective equipment. The driver stated that he currently did not have a license but had in the past. Officers confirmed that the driver’s license had actually been revoked. He was subsequently arrested for operating after revocation.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 9:00AM and 2:00PM (2/28) – Browne St.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that she was contacted over Facebook by an old friend who claimed that he was in London and had been robbed at gunpoint and needed money. When she offered to help he requested she send money through Western Union, which she did. After a follow up conversation raised her suspicions, the victim called her friend. He explained that someone had hacked into his account and sent this message to everyone. Police are following up on the case.

  • Occurred between 8:20AM and 8:45AM (3/1) – 115 Greenough St.

Police responded to a report of three stolen cell phones. Three students at Brookline High School stated that their cell phones were missing. All of the students had left their backpacks in the girl’s locker room in the Tappan St. Gym. Police are following up on the case.

February 26th - 28th

Fraud

  • Occurred between 6:27PM (2/21) and 2:24AM (2/23) – Beacon St.

Victim reported to police that his Brookline Bank account had several unauthorized charges. The charges were made in Miami, FL, where the victim had been two weeks prior to the fraudulent charges occurring. Police are following up on the case.

  • Occurred between 10:52 (2/23) and 10:52 (2/26) – Fairbanks St.

Victim reported to police that there were unauthorized charges made to his Sovereign Bank debit account. There were a total of eight fraudulent charges. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 11:00PM (2/25) and 8:11AM (2/26) – 33 Egmont St.

Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that when she woke up this morning, she found that the windshield wipers on her car were missing. Police are following up on the case.

  • Occurred between 5:00PM and 5:15PM (2/25) – 525 Harvard St.

Victim reported to police that while shopping in TJ Maxx, several items were removed from her purse. She stated that her Gucci wallet was missing, containing numerous credit cards and money. Police are following up on the case.

  • Occurred between 11:00AM and 11:50AM (2/27) – 320 Harvard St.

Police responded to a local fashion store for a reported shoplifting. The complainant stated that she noticed a thin white female, approximately 5’5” with long dark hair, enter a dressing room with a designer jacket. The suspect left the store without purchasing anything and the complainant realized that her inventory was less one jacket. Police are following up on the case.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

  • Occurred between 9:00PM (2/14) and 9:00AM (2/18) – Circuit Rd.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she noticed her sunglasses and purse were missing from her car. Police are following up on the case.

Burglary

  • Occurred between 12:00PM and 8:15PM (2/27) – Bonad Rd.

Police responded to a report of a burglary. The caller stated that he was watching his brother-in-law’s house while they were on vacation. He and his wife left for a few hours and upon return, noticed that the side door to the house was ajar and a window was open. When he went upstairs, he noticed that all the bedrooms were in disarray. Police are following up on the case.
