Public Meeting, Police Apply for Grant, Wed, July 3rd, 9:00AM

The Brookline Police Department will meet in Open Session on Wednesday, July 3, 3013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Community Room at the Public Safety Headquarters at 350 Washington Street, Brookline, Massachusetts to discuss the 2013 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant application. The BPD will be applying for $18,050.50 in grant funds through this Norfolk County regional application.  This is an annual application for federal grant funding through the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
   The public is welcomed to attend this meeting.

Police Reports 6/26-6/27

Operating after Suspension: 6/27 at 12:48 AM- Brook St. / Hurd Rd.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to signal while making a turn. The officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Brook St. and Hurd Rd. A query revealed that a passenger had a warrant out of Lawrence District Court. A search of this passenger’s bag produced fireworks. The passenger was placed under arrest for the warrant and Possession of Fireworks.

Not Duly Licensed: 6/26 at 9:53 PM- Boylston St. / Hammond St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Boylston St at Hammond St. A query revealed that the driver did not have a valid license and he was placed under arrest for Not Duly Licensed.

Sector 2

Burglary: 6/26 between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM- Monmouth St.

A Monmouth St. resident reported a breaking and entering. The victim stated that she left her residence at approximately 10:00 AM on 6/26. When she returned at approximately 2:30 PM, she discovered that somebody had removed a rear window screen and entered the residence. Two laptops and two cell phones were reported stolen.

Sector 4

B&E MV: 6/27 between 4:30 and 5:00 PM- Washington St.

An individual reported a larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she parked her motor vehicle on Washington St. while she went into a nearby business. When she returned to her vehicle she discovered her iPad was missing.

Police Reports 6/25-6/26

Sector 9

Larceny: 6/25 at 5:06 PM- Lagrange St.

An individual reported a larceny of jewelry from her home. The victim stated that a male individual (WM, ~50 years old, heavy set 5'9"-10") rang her doorbell stating that he was hired by a neighbor to put up a fence adjacent to the victim’s property. The victim allowed the suspect to enter her kitchen so that he could look at the property from a window. After the suspect left, the victim discovered that her bedroom had been ransacked and that there was an extensive amount of jewelry missing. It appears that the first suspect distracted the victim while a second individual entered the home and stole the jewelry.

Operating after Suspension: 6/26 at 12:59 AM- Allandale Rd. / Grove St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at night without its headlights illuminated. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Allandale Rd. A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license and she was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Police Reports 6/24-6/25

Not Duly Licensed: 6/25 at 10:29 AM- W. Roxbury Pkwy.

An officer observed a dump truck traveling on the W. Roxbury Parkway, a roadway that is restricted to trucks. A query revealed that the driver did not have a valid license and he was placed under arrest for Not Duly Licensed.

Operating after Revocation: 6/24 at 11:59 PM- Boylston St. / Reservoir Rd.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Boylston St. and Reservoir Rd. A query revealed that the driver had a revoked license. A search produced several plastic bags containing marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation and Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute.

Larceny: Between 6/15 and 6/24- Gardner Rd.

A Gardner Rd. resident reported the larceny of a 24 foot ladder from his backyard.

Warrant Arrest: 6/24 at 6:09 PM- S. Huntington / Huntington

Officers responded to the area of Village Way to serve an arrest warrant. Upon seeing officers, the suspect took off running. After a short foot pursuit officers were able to stop the subject in the area of S. Huntington Ave. The individual was placed under arrest for the warrant out of Brookline District Court and Resisting Arrest.

Bike Theft: Between 6/21 and 6/24- Brook St.

An individual reported the theft of a bicycle. The victim stated that he last saw his bicycle on 6/21 at approximately 7:30 AM. When he returned he discovered his bike was missing. The bicycle had been locked to a wooden fence. It appears that the cable lock had been cut.

Sector 1

B&E MV: Between 6/24 and 6/25- Babcock St.

An individual reported the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle in a lot on Babcock St. on 6/24 at 8:00 PM. When he returned the next morning he discovered that the rear passenger window had been smashed and a briefcase had been stolen.

Sector 2

Shoplifting: 6/24 at 3:24 PM- Harvard St.

A Walgreens employee reported a shoplifting. The employee stated that she observed a male individual remove sunglasses from a display case and place them in his pocket. The suspect then left the store without paying. Officers were able locate an individual in the area that matched the description. The subject was positively identified as the shoplifter and he was placed under arrest for Shoplifting.

Police Reports 6/21-6/24

Larceny Bait Bike: 6/23 at 9:07 PM- St. Paul St. / Commonwealth Ave.

Officers received notice that the department’s GPS tracking “bait bike” had been stolen and was in the area of Commonwealth Ave. and St. Paul St. The bait bike had been locked to a sign on Fuller St. Officers observed an individual riding the bicycle on St. Mary’s St. After a short pursuit, officers stopped the suspect in the area of Park Dr. and Beacon St. The suspect was placed under arrest for Larceny over $250 and Resisting Arrest.

Bike Theft: 6/21 at 8:00 PM- Pond Ave.

An individual reported the larceny of a bicycle. The victim stated that his bicycle was stolen from a moving truck sometime around 8:00 PM on 6/21.

Sector 1

Operating after Suspension: 6/21 at 6:54 PM- Dummer St. / St. Paul St.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Dummer St. A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Breaking and Entering: 6/22 at 3:10 AM- Adams St.

Officers responded to Adams St. for the report of a breaking and entering in progress. The victim stated that she walked into her kitchen after hearing a noise to find an individual in her home. The suspect was described as a white male with short blonde hair wearing a short sleeved black polo shirt. The victim stated that the suspect had his shoulders, arms, and head inside of an open window. The suspect fled when he made eye contact with the victim. The suspect fled towards Pleasant St. A search of the area for the suspect yielded negative results. It appears that the subject cut and removed a window screen to gain access.

Sector 2

Bike Theft: 6/22 between 12:15 and 6:00 PM- Alton Pl.

An individual reported the theft of a bicycle. The victim stated that he bicycle was stolen from the vestibule of his building. The bicycle had been left unsecured.

Sector 3

Operating after Suspension: 6/22 at 6:20 PM- Washington St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop at Washington St. and Bartlett Crescent. A query revealed that the driver had a suspended license and he was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension.

Sector 4

Larceny: 6/23 at 4:10 PM- Beacon St.

Officers responded to an AT&T store for the report of a larceny. A store employee stated that an individual entered the store, removed a cell phone from a display case and fled the store. The employee stated that the suspect got into a black Toyota SUV and drove away on Beacon St. The suspect was described as a white male, ~30 years old, short brown hair, wearing a black V-neck shirt, khaki cargo shorts, white socks and white sneakers. A search of the area for the suspect yielded negative results.

Sector 6

Not Duly Licensed: 6/21 at 9:37 PM- Dean Rd.

An officers observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Dean Rd. A query revealed that the driver did not have a valid license and he was placed under arrest for Not Duly Licensed.
