8/15 - 8/16

Sector 1

Larceny: 08/05/2013 at 3:10 p.m. – 08/15/2013 at 3:10 p.m. – Babcock St.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Babcock St. after receiving a report of a past larceny. The victim stated she had just noticed a set of silverware had been removed from her bedroom bureau. The bureau was always kept locked and showed no signs of damage. The victim remembered seeing the silverware about a week prior, but had not checked the bureau since. A search of the residence revealed no other missing items.

Larceny: 08/12/2013 at 12:00 p.m. – Beacon St.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. after receiving a report of a past larceny. The officer was met by the owner of the business who stated she recently noticed a box of rings missing from a display case. The business was not equipped with a video surveillance system and the owner was unsure of who may have taken the box.

Sector 2

Larceny: 08/15/2013 at 6:37 p.m. – Harvard St.

Officers were dispatched to the Harvard St. area after receiving a report of a shoplifter who had just fled from Walgreens. The shoplifter was described as an African American male, between 40 and 50 years of age, wearing a maroon t-shirt and carrying a black backpack. An officer observed a male fitting the description on Washington St. and initiated a stop. A search of the backpack revealed several of the stolen items. The suspect was placed under arrest for Shoplifting.

Larceny: 08/15/2013 at 7:00 p.m. – Monmouth St.

An officer was dispatched to a residence after receiving a report of a past larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was greeted by the victim who stated a month prior, on July 23rd or 24th, she had placed four tennis rackets in a box in the front hall of her building to be picked up by UPS. She had only just been notified that the party to whom she was sending the package had never received it. An inquiry of the box’s tracking number revealed that it was never picked up by UPS.

Burglary: 08/15/2013 at 10:13 p.m. – Beacon St.

Several officers were dispatched to a residence on Beacon St. after receiving a report of a break-in in progress through a skylight window. Upon arrival, the suspect had fled the scene but inspection of the skylight revealed that it had been tampered with. The resident stated he heard an odd noise coming from the roof and upon investigating it further saw the skylight was propped open. At this time, the victim notified the police. A search of the area did not reveal any suspects.

Burglary: 08/15/2013 at 9:00 p.m. – 08/16/2013 at 3:00 a.m. – Linden St.

An officer was dispatched to St. Mary’s Church rectory on Linden St. after receiving a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny. Officers discovered a side door to the rectory left ajar and a window with a slashed screen. A review of the office revealed a laptop, an IPod, a flat screen television, and the rectory’s vehicle had been stolen.

Sector 3

Motor Vehicle Theft: 08/15/2013 at 6:30 p.m. – Centre St.

While on the desk, an officer received a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim stated his car was parked on Centre St. beginning at 2:00 p.m. and upon his return at 6:30 p.m. the car was gone. The victim stated the key to his car had been stolen a couple of weeks prior to the incident, though he did not report it at the time. A search of the area did not reveal the vehicle.

Sector 5

Larceny: 08/15/2013 at 8:24 a.m. – Tappan St.

An officer was dispatched to the Brookline Hills MBTA station after receiving a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim stated his bike had been locked to a rack at the train station and was stolen at some point on August 14th or the morning of the 15th.

Sector 8

Trespassing: 08/15/2013 at 8:52 a.m. – Lee St./ Clyde St.

An officer was dispatched to the US Amateur Golf Tournament after receiving a report of an illegally parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer learned that the suspect had claimed to only be parking for five minutes in order to drop something off. At this point, thirty minutes had elapsed and the man had not returned to his car. The owner of the vehicle was located and placed under arrest for Trespassing.

8/14 - 8/15

Sector 1

Operating After Suspension: 08/14/2013 at 12:44 a.m. – Harvard St.

An officer observed a vehicle with an expired license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the driver’s information revealed his license to be suspended. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.


Sector 2

Assault: 08/14/2013 at 4:01 p.m. – Harvard St./ Aspinwall Ave.

An officer was flagged down at the intersection of Harvard St. and Alton Place. The victim stated she had just been assaulted by two females who had tried to steal her cell phone. The victim was able to provide a description of one suspect, saying she was an African American woman with a skinny frame and was wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt. The victim believed both suspects were in their teens. The victim stated she had been walking home from work when the suspects pulled her to the ground by her hair and repeatedly hit her and attempted to grab her cell phone before fleeing down Aspinwall Av. A search of the area yielded negative results for the suspects.


O.U.I.L: 08/15/2013 at 1:51 a.m. – Harvard St./ Longwood Av.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. The officer was able to detect the odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The operator’s eyes also appeared to be glassy.  The officer administered a series of field sobriety tests, after which the officer determined the operator of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence.


Sector 3

Larceny: 08/14/2013 at 4:17 p.m. – Beacon St.

An officer was dispatched to Beacon St. after receiving a report of a past larceny of a bicycle. The bicycle had been locked to an iron fence with a cable lock, which was also taken.


Sector 4

Warrant Arrest: 08/14/2013 at 11:59 a.m. – Washington St.

While on duty at the front desk, an officer received a request for a license renewal. A query revealed the man had a warrant out of Quincy District Court. He was placed under arrest.

8/13 - 8/14

Sector 1

Fraud: 8/01/2013 at 3:46 p.m. – Thorndike St.

An officer received a report of a past case of internet fraud. The victim stated he had posted an item for sale on Craigslist and had exchanged several emails with a potential buyer. Once they had agreed on the price, the suspect mailed the victim a check, which when deposited was revealed to be counterfeit and worthless. The victim has not been able to contact the suspect.

Operating After Suspension: 8/14/2013 at 5:16 p.m. – Beacon St.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Beacon St. A query of the driver’s information revealed his license was suspended. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension.

Sector 2

Larceny: 08/13/2013 at 5:30 p.m. – Station St.

Several officers were dispatched to Station St. after receiving a report of a stolen bicycle. A witness to the theft described the suspect as an African American male in his thirties. The suspect was wearing blue shorts, round sunglasses, a beige hat and light t-shirt. A search for the suspect was conducted with negative results.

Sector 3

Larceny: 8/13/2013 at 2:00 p.m. – Fuller St.

An officer was dispatched to Fuller St. after receiving a report of larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated the front license plate on her car had been stolen. The plate was entered as stolen with the Brookline Police Dispatch.

Sector 5

Operating After Suspension: 08/13/2013 at 2:20 p.m. – Washington St.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to signal several traffic turns. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Washington St. A query of the driver’s information revealed him to have a suspended license. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension.

Larceny: 08/06/2013 at 12:30 p.m. – 08/07/2013 at 11:00 a.m. – Winthrop Rd.

An officer received a report while on the desk of a stolen bicycle. The bike had been left in the hallway of the victim’s building and was left unlocked. The victim’s helmet was also stolen.

8/8 - 8/13

Sector 1

Larceny: 08/09/2013 at 11:10 a.m. – Beacon St.

An officer was approached by the manager of a store who informed him that he was following a woman who had taken items from the store without paying for them. The manager identified the suspect to the officer, who stopped her on Green St. Further investigation revealed the stolen item on the suspect’s person. The suspect was placed under arrest.


Larceny: 08/09/2013 at 1:15 p.m. – Beacon St.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. after receiving a report of larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated he had left his cell phone charging in the lobby at his desk. While speaking with another employee, the victim left his desk and the phone was stolen. A witness stated a woman known to the victim had taken the phone. The suspect has yet to be apprehended, but has been summoned to the Brookline District Court.


Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle: 08/10/2013 at 11:00 a.m. – St. Mary’s St.

An officer was on patrol when he was alerted to a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The rear window of the vehicle has been smashed and a backpack was missing from the vehicle. Nothing else appeared to be missing.


Warrant Arrest: 08/11/2013 at 10:47 p.m. – St. Paul St.

An officer was dispatched to St. Paul St. to check on the well being of a person sleeping outside. A query revealed the suspect had a warrant out of Boston Municipal Court. The suspect was placed under arrest.

Larceny: 08/12/2013 at 10:45 a.m. – Commonwealth Ave.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. after receiving a report of a past larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the manager who stated that $275.00 had been stolen from his office this morning. The manager described the suspect as an African American male wearing a white shirt and blue sweater. A review of the video surveillance revealed the suspect exiting the business through the rear after leaving the manager’s office. The suspect has yet to be apprehended.


Sector 2

Larceny: 08/09/2013 at 1 p.m.- 6 p.m. – Longwood Ave.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Longwood Ave. after receiving a report of a past larceny. The victim stated she had received email confirmation earlier in the day that a package she was expecting had been delivered, however upon getting home the package was gone. The victim believes the package was stolen as it was left in an unsecure lobby.

Operating After Suspension: 08/11/2013 at 5:14 p.m. – Harvard St./ Kent St.

An officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Harvard St. and Kent St. A query revealed the operator had a suspended license. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating After Suspension.


Larceny: 08/11/2013 at 10:24 p.m. – Beacon St./ Hawes St.

An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Beacon St. and Hawes St. after receiving a report of a larceny. The victim stated an African American male in a white shirt opened the passenger door of his cab and grabbed the victim’s backpack. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Sector 4

Burglary: 08/12/2013 at 10:43 a.m. – Beacon St.

An officer was dispatched to Beacon St. after receiving a report of a past larceny. Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim who stated that at some point over the weekend a money order was stolen from her office. The matter is currently under investigation.


Sector 5

O.U.I.L: 08/10/2013 at 12:10 a.m. – Boylston St.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Boylston St. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The officer’s also observed the operator of the vehicle to have glassy eyes as well as slurring her speech. The officer administered a series of field sobriety tests, which led the officer to believe that the operator of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor.

O.U.I.L: 08/11/2013 at 2:07 a.m. – Heath Hill Rd.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Heath Hill Rd. Upon speaking with the operator of the vehicle, the officer observed him to have glassy eyes and was slurring his speech. A faint odor of alcohol was emanating from the vehicle. A series of field sobriety tests were administered, leading the officer to believe the operator was under the influence of alcohol. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence.



Sector 6

O.U.I.L: 08/10/2013 at 2:19 a.m. – Boylston St./ Hammond St.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Boylston and Hammond St. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol upon approaching the vehicle. Further observation revealed the operator of the vehicle had glassy eyes and was slurring his speech. A series of field sobriety tests were administered, which led the officer to believe the operator was under the influence of alcohol. The operator was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence.



Sector 8

Burglary: 08/09/2013 - 08/12/1013 at 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. – Heath St.

An officer received a report about a past burglary. The victim stated that at some point over the weekend, a number of tools were stolen from his work site. The matter is currently under investigation.
