2:39 p.m.: Officers spoke to two individuals at the intersection of Amory Street and Dummer Street regarding a bicycle which fit the description of one that was reported stolen.  During this interaction, officers began to speak to a third party that was known to them, and at the time believed to be involved with the other men. While attempting to gain further information, the subject with the bike fled the scene on the bicycle. The other two males were questioned. It was later determined that the subject who fled had an active arrest warrant. Furthermore, one of the two men who stayed on scene also had a warrant and was placed under arrest. The subject who fled on the bicycle was mailed a citation for Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, multiple Marked Lane Violations, and Operating Through a Crosswalk at Amory and Commonwealth Avenue.

An officer responded to a location on Newton Street for a stolen car report. After entering the vehicle into the database as stolen, it was located on the front lawn of a residence on Meadowbrook Road. Officers arrived and assessed the situation, concluding that the vehicle had rolled from the original location to the property on Meadowbrook Road.

6:01 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Ivy Street for a past larceny report. The victim stated that he and his wife had discovered various items including a camera, jewelry, and cash were missing from their residence. Other items in the same locations were left untouched. There was no sign of a break and the victim stated he has had multiple people and companies working on his property.


10:24 p.m.: A query of a vehicle’s registration on Beacon Street revealed the vehicle had a suspended registration status. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension – Registration and Unregistered Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

8/9/2017

8:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Longwood Avenue for an attempted B&E that occurred the day before. At approximately 5:00 p.m. the previous evening, the resident noticed damage to his front door and lock, including pry marks. The party stated he was home during the time, but did not hear anyone trying to break in. It does not appear that the suspect made entry. Detectives arrived and processed the scene.

7:45 a.m.: Brookline Animal Control responded to an address on Waverly Avenue for a bat in a house. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate the bat, but advised the residents that the Brookline Health Department will follow up. At 10:13 a.m., Animal Control responded to the same address and captured the bat and transported it to the State Lab for rabies testing.

9:19 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Alberta Road for a report of a B&E of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had parked her car in her driveway at approximately 10:15 p.m. the previous evening and left the vehicle unlocked with her wallet in the center console. When she returned to the vehicle the next morning, the wallet was gone. The wallet was located on the street with its contents scattered on the road. All contents were accounted for excluding cash.

An officer responded to an address on South Street for a report of a B&E&L from a motor vehicle. 
Upon arrival, the victim stated that she had parked her vehicle in her driveway the previous evening at approximately 9:00 p.m. and when she returned to it at approximately 8:30 a.m. on 8/9 she realized the vehicle had been rummaged through. Only change was missing. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

5:53 p.m.: Officers reported to Amory Park for a report of a “drug deal”. The reporting party stated she had observed tow individuals approach two males sitting on a park bench. Based on the interaction she believed it to be a drug transaction. Officers located the individuals on the bench. One of them was found to have marijuana and a large sum of cash in his possession. These along with plastic baggies and a digital scale were placed into evidence. This subject will be summonsed to court for Possession with intent to Distribute Class D drug.

Arrest made last night


Officers arrested a juvenile last night and charged him with breaking into cars. The subject was located in the Washington Street and School Street area. He had several items of value we would like to return to the rightful owner.  If you notice items missing from your car such as change or other small items of value, please call to report it and we hopefully can reunite you with your valuables. Unknown if this subject is responsible for the other motor vehicle break ins we had last week. These occurred a few blocks north off Washington Street.  The cases are still under investigation. It does appear that the vehicles targeted have been left unlocked. Please make sure your vehicles are locked and no valuables are left in plain sight.

12:29 a.m.: A query of a vehicle travelling westbound on Beacon Street revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Beacon Street and James Street. The operator was cited for Operating After Suspension – License.

An officer was dispatched to an address on Jamaica Road for a report of found property. Upon arrival, an officer located a purse with its contents, including passports, spilled over the porch. One of the passports belonged to an individual who had reported a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle earlier in the day. The purse and its contents were photographed and submitted into evidence.

9:00 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on High Street for a B&E&L of a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated that the previous evening he had parked outside a restaurant and when he returned to the vehicle, he discovered a purse was missing from the center console. There was no damage to the vehicle. Surveillance footage from the area has been placed into evidence.

11:00 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Gardner Road for a larceny report. The reporting party stated she had two packages stolen from her front step while she was away. She was notified the packages were delivered on 8/3 and 8/4, but a neighbor could not locate them on 8/5. The reporting party will obtain the tracking numbers of the package and follow up with officers.

An individual reported that he left his phone in a Lyft vehicle. He has used the Find My iPhone application to send alerts to his phone, but received no response. Lyft Customer Service advised him to contact the local police.

8:44 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Winchester Street for an attempted residential breaking and entering. The subject could not be located due to the lack of a description from the reporting party. Detectives processed the scene.

9:32 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on St. Paul Street for a report of two stolen bicycles. The bicycles were last seen the previous evening locked to a railing on the front steps of the residence. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on 8/7, two of three bicycles were gone and the lock had been cut.

9:55 a.m.: An individual was placed under arrest for an active default warrant. He was taken into custody without incident.

An officer was dispatched to Pond Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. While waiting at a red light on Washington Street, one of the vehicles struck the other from behind.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Franklin Street for a report of a residential breaking and entering and larceny of property. The reporting party stated that the incident occurred sometime over the past weekend. Various items were found to be missing. The point of entry appears to be a window with an air conditioning unit and the suspect then exited the residence through the front door. Detectives arrived and processed the scene.

An individual stated she received phone calls and emails from a company claiming to have a civil suit against her for failing to pay back a loan. The victim stated she never took out such a loan nor does she have an account with one of the banks involved. She requested information be sent to her lawyer. She completed a fraud report and was advised to contact the Federal Trade Commission and major credit bureaus regarding the incident.

An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and South Street for a report of a two car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the Brookline Fire Department was checking the scene as one of the vehicles sustained major front end damage. The other vehicle had rear end damage mostly to the underside. The operator of the second vehicle was issued a citation for Following Too Closely.


A query of a vehicle travelling westbound on Beacon Street revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Beacon Street and James Street. The operator was confirmed to have a suspended license and was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension.

8/4/17 through 8/6/17

8/4/2017

2:20 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Beacon Street due to a defective break light. The officer noticed that the subject’s status was revoked/insurance. To follow the subject will be summonsed to Brookline District Court. 

4:13 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Beacon Street for a burglar alarm. This case is under investigation. 

7:12 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Tappan Street for a Breaking and Entering of a Motor vehicle. The party stated that the vehicles glove compartment and middle console had been rummaged through. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested at this time.

7:44 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Tappan Street for a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The subject noticed that the middle console and glove compartment of the vehicle were both open and rummaged through. The subject filed a police report and this case is under investigation. 

8:45 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Gardener Road for a report of an attempted Breaking and Entering. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

8:47 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Beaconsfield Road for a Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle. A follow up by the Detectives Division has been requested.

9:18 a.m. An officer was assigned to an address on Winthrop Road for a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The party stated the vehicles console had been rummaged through and items had been stolen. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

11:26 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on VFW Parkway for a report of a Breaking and Entering.  The case is under investigation.

12:00 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the front desk to take a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The party noticed that the vehicle had been rummaged through and appeared to have items missing. This case is under investigation.

12:49 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police station for an identity theft report. The subject filed a police report and the case is under investigation.

1:10 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the front desk to meet with an individual who was the victim of a fraud email requesting a money transfer. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

1:15 p.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Gardener Road to a report of a Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property. The vehicle appeared to be rummaged through. This case is under investigation.

2:21 p.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Regent Circle for a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. A follow up by the detectives has been requested.

3:30 p.m. An officer responded to an address on Regent Circle to a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.  This case is under investigation.

8/5/2017

1:02 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Amory Street and Freeman Street. . The subject had failed to stop at a Stop Sign, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Revoked Registration and Revoked Registration. The operator of the vehicle was informed that he would be summonsed into Brookline District Court.  

2:40 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop, the subject operating the vehicle after suspension-registration. The subject was cited and will be summonsed to court regarding the offense.

11:31 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Boylston Street where that party had reported a hit and run.

8/6/2017

9:46 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Monmouth Street for a bike theft report. The 
cable lock on the bike appeared to be cut and had been left on the ground. This case is under investigation and there is no further information at this time.

10:30 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Loveland Road for a report of a breaking and entering of a home. This case is under investigation.
