Police Reports 3/27/2014

On March 27, officers ran a query of a vehicle traveling on Washington St. and discovered that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and the registered owner had a warrant in effect. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and confirmed the status of the warrant. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 27, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a fight in progress. A witness reported that a motorist had assaulted another motorist over a parking space. He stated that the assault included the suspect banging on the victim’s car, verbally harassing the victim, and physically harassing the victim. Officers spoke with the victim and other witnesses who confirmed the story. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault and battery (hands), assault and battery (shod foot), disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct.

On March 27, an officer was dispatched to a store on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of shoplifting that had just occurred. An employee stated that a man had entered the store, taken a jacket off the rack and placed it into a bag and then left. The matter is under investigation.

On March 27, an officer observed a vehicle travel through a red light at the intersection of Kent Street and Aspinwall Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended right to operate. The driver was cited for operating after suspension and failure to stop.

Police Reports 3/26/2014

On March 26, an officer observed a vehicle in the left turn only lane at the intersection of Harvard St. and Longwood Ave. drive straight and cut off another vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had a Massachusetts permit but no license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for a marked lanes violation and not being duly licensed.

On March 26, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. make an illegal U-turn onto Green Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and after approaching the vehicle could detect an odor of unburnt marijuana. The driver was found to have marijuana and he was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and a U-turn violation.

Police Reports 3/25/2014

On March 25, officers observed a vehicle backing up in the wrong direction on Beacon St. with its rear right tire going up over the curb. The officers conducted a traffic stop and were able to see a stun gun box in plain view behind the driver’s seat. The officers conducted a pat frisk and discovered a security tag remover and a stun gun on the driver. A search of the car revealed two more stun guns and tag removers and a bag of clothes. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Stun Gun, Taser; Receiving Stolen Property; and a One Way Violation.

On March 25, an officer observed a vehicle travel at a high rate of speed on Harvard St. and run through a red light at the intersection of Harvard Street and School Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed that the passenger was not wearing a seat belt. The officer looked up both parties and found that the passenger had a warrant in effect. The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with a seat belt violation and default warrant. The driver was written a citation for a red light violation and was sent on his way.

On March 25, an officer responded to Pleasant St. for a report of larceny. The resident reported that the building’s foyer was empty around 4pm but when she returned at 5pm a package that had been delivered for her husband was open and its contents had been removed. The matter is under investigation.

On March 24, a woman came into the Police Station to report a past breaking and entering and larceny of a vehicle. The victim stated that on Saturday March 22, her car had been parked in the Centre Street Lot and when she returned to it later in the day, a backpack with several items inside was missing.

On March 24, an officer responded to Marion St. for a report of larceny by false pretenses. The victim stated that she had received a call earlier in the day from a party she had believed to be her grandson who stated that he was in jail. The woman then spoke to the man’s supposed attorney who said that the victim should transfer bail money through MoneyGram. It was found that this was part of a Phishing-type phone scam and the matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 3/21/2014 through 3/23/2014

On March 21, officers responded to Beacon St. for a report of a suspicious male yelling and hitting the bushes along buildings with a stick he was carrying. Officers located the male party on Beaconsfield Rd. and he was acting in a threatening manner. The man was placed under arrest for Disorderly Person and Threats.

On March 21, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Harvard St. and initiated a traffic stop. The officer discovered that the driver had a revoked license and they were placed under arrest.

On March 21, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. with an expired registration sticker. A check of the vehicle on the cruiser laptop indicated that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and the driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after revocation and expired registration.

On March 21, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Lee St. which revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver, who was not the registered owner, had an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 21, an officer was dispatched to Kent St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had had a purchase mailed to her and when she arrived home, the package was open inside of the building lobby and the contents were missing.

On March 21, an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle travelling on Chestnut Hill Ave. with an expired registration sticker. The officer found that the driver was operating with an expired license and the driver was placed under arrest and cited for not being duly licensed, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating after revocation, and failure to display proper registration.

On March 22, a call was put out by dispatch regarding a hit and run accident that had occurred on Longwood Avenue. Dispatch informed officers that Boston and State Police had a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved and officers responded to Centre St. in Boston. When speaking to the driver, officers observed that her speech was slurred, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, she was lethargic, and an odor of alcohol was emanating from her. The driver was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident/personal injury, and a marked lanes violation.

On March 22, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a speed greater than the posted 35 mph on West Roxbury Parkway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and issued a citation for speeding. At this time, the driver began revving his engine as he pulled into traffic before it was safe to do so, causing other vehicles to slam on their brakes. The vehicle nearly avoided hitting another car when turning onto Hammond Pond Parkway and the officer activated his lights again. The vehicle failed to stop as it fled from the officer and swerved around cars stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hammond Pond Parkway and Heath Street. The vehicle finally pulled over and the driver was placed under arrest and charged with failing to stop for a police officer, operating to endanger, speeding, failing to stop at a red light, passing on the right, and an unsafe lane change.

On March 22, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Commonwealth Ave. at a high rate of speed and cross the white dotted line. The officer initiated a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver observed slurred speech, glassy eyes, and an odor of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for speeding, failure to stay in marked lanes, and operating under the influence of liquor.

On March 23, officers responded to Winthrop Rd. for a report of motorist hitting a telephone pole and attempting to flee the scene. Officers spoke to the driver and observed that he was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. An officer observed a pocket knife in the man’s back pocket and conducted a pat frisk for officer safety. The officer found multiple small bottles of alcohol on the man. The man was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor; operating to endanger, driving on the sidewalk; operating to endanger, operating while intoxicated; leaving the scene of property damage/traffic crash; and open container of alcohol.

On March 23, an officer observed a vehicle turn from Harvard St. to Beacon St. where signs were posted indicating that no left turn was allowed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.
