Crime Report (6/18/07)

ARRESTS

• Occurred at 12:33 p.m. (6/16/07)
  

A caller had advised police of an argument occurring within the apartment building with a possibility of physical violence. Police responded to the scene and interviewed the victim and suspect, David Sanchez of Dorchester. The victim stated that Sanchez and she had pushed each other during their argument. During the interview with Sanchez, his actions caused police to fear for their and the victim’s safety, therefore a pat frisk was performed. A knife was found in Sanchez’s front pocket, and a hard object was felt in his back pocket. When asked what the object was, Sanchez responded “I’ll get it” and lunged forward, turning away from the officer while reaching into his pocket. Sanchez was ordered to stop moving, but refused to comply. The officer than restrained him, and removed the object from his pocket. Sanchez continued to resist the control of the officer. The object in his back pocket was an ammunition clip containing bullets for a handgun. During the search for the gun in the immediate area, Sanchez continued to refuse to comply with requests made by the officers and caused a further disturbance by yelling. Sanchez was arrested for Domestic Assault and Battery and was also charged with resisting arrest. Sanchez also received a citation for possession of the ammunition.

BURGLARY

• Between 9:30 p.m. (6/14/07) and 7:37 a.m. (6/15/07)- 107 Browne St
  

The victim reported that her upstairs neighbor had contacted her and informed her that there had been a man on a ladder at the victim’s back window. When the suspect saw the neighbor, he had fled the scene. Approximately two hours after this incident, the victim’s step-son arrived home from work and observed his bedroom had been ransacked. It appeared that the suspect had returned to the rear of the building and climbed the ladder to the first floor apartment, raised the screen, and pushed in the window. A portable Playstation (PSP), 8 DVDs, and 4 hats were stolen from the bedroom. The suspect was described as a white male, average height, wearing a hat and a small knapsack.

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

• Between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (6/15/07)- 1620 Beacon Street
  

The rear window of the victim’s vehicle had been shattered with a rock.

• Between 1:49 a.m. and 2:05 a.m. (6/17/07)- 62 Cypress Street
  

The victims reported that a small group of teenagers had been in the area of Cypress and Elm Street. The group had been drinking beers and playing basketball in the streets. They had all dispersed when a light had come on. As they were dispersing, the victims heard a window break. When one of the victims went to the front porch of the building, she observed a storm window on the first floor had been broken and a beer can on the floor.

• Between 11:05 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (6/17/07)- Sterns Road

The rear window of the victim’s vehicle had been smashed. The victim observed a blue Gatorade bottle in the rear seat, but was unaware if it had been used to break the window or if it had been left there by her son.

LARCENY

• Occurred at 1:35 p.m. (6/16/07)- 345 Harvard Street
  

A woman had stolen an infant hat from a kiosk’s display at the Brookline Arts Fair. The kiosk owner had observed the suspect remove the hat and stuff it either into her pocket or down her pants. The owner approached the suspect and asked that she either pay for the hat or return it. The suspect refused and left. She sat down on a bench in front of the Devotion Playground, where she was later approached by the police. During questioning of the suspect she had been very evasive, but it was eventually determined that she had taken the hat from the kiosk. A request for the suspect to be summonsed into court for Shoplifting/Larceny will be made.

ASSAULT

• Between 2:58 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (6/16/07)- 64 Linden Street
  

At the above time and location, a group of neighbors had gotten into a physical fight due to a parking dispute. A vehicle had been blocking the driveway belonging to one of the suspects. When he approached the vehicle owner about moving his car, a verbal argument began. The argument escalated into a shoving match, during which the vehicle owner’s brother became involved. A request for all parties to be summonsed into court for Assault and Battery has been made.

FRAUD

• Occurred at 9:00 p.m. (6/15/07)- 52 Kendall Street
  

The victim reported the unauthorized use of her credit card. The card at been used on at least four separate occasions at four different locations.
