On December 28, an officer was dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that an unknown female had entered the store and left with merchandise without paying. The incident is under investigation.

In the evening of December 28, officers responded to Beacon St. for an activated fire alarm. It was determined that the fire originated from the basement boiler. The fire caused no structural damage and was unoccupied at the time. There were no injuries.

On December 30, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Linden Ct. for a report of a past breaking and entering. The reporting party stated that they had been on vacation from 12/22-12/29 and when they returned the front door was unlocked and items were out of place. Officers observed pry marks on the front door. Multiple items including electronics and jewelry were reported stolen.

On December 31 an officer was dispatched to St. Paul St. for a report of a package theft. The reporting party stated that when he arrived home he found that the package he was expecting had been ripped open and the contents removed.

Officers responded to a building on Babcock St. for a report of a building fire. Brookline Fire was already on scene with the residents evacuated. The building was deemed uninhabitable and the cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no injuries reported.

Early on January 1, officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated they had observed a female enter the store and conceal merchandise in her purse. The employee stopped the woman before she could leave. A check of the woman’s criminal history showed that she had an active warrant in effect. The woman was placed under arrest.
