10:50 a.m.: A query of a vehicle’s license plate revealed
the vehicle’s status to be revoked for failure to pay insurance premium. A
traffic stop was conducted on Middlesex Road. During the stop, the operator did
not have his license in his possession, but dispatch confirmed he was a
licensed operator. The operator was issued a citation for Operating After
Revocation, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and not having his license in
his possession. The vehicle was towed and he was sent on his way.
10:43 a.m.: A resident spoke to an officer at the front desk
of the police station stating he found an ammunition shell and wanted to turn
it in for disposal. At this point, the individual removed mortar round from his
bag. The scene was secured by the officer and the Brookline Fire Department and
Boston Police Bomb Squad were notified. All employees were evacuated from the
building. The Boston Bomb Squad responded to recover the mortar and determined
that it was deactivated. The resident stated he had located the mortar in his
basement. Detectives and officers went to the party’s resident and did not
locate any similar items. The resident was advised to contact the police if
anything similar is ever located.
2:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon
Street for a graffiti complaint. The owner of the business stated sometime on
8/17 someone defaced the outside concrete walls with graffiti. Photos were
taken of the graffiti and the incident will be investigated further.
4:48 p.m.: A citizen reported his dog was bitten by another
dog. He stated that the incident occurred on 8/15 at Dean Park. His dog was
playing in the park when another dog was let off leash and bit his dog. The
reporting party’s dog was taken to the vet for treatment which included multiple
stitched to the dog’s ear. Follow up by the Animal Control Officer has been
requested.
7:41 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Station Street at
the Brookline Village T Stop for a report of a past malicious damage to a
rental vehicle. Upon arrival, the reporting party and victim stated she parked
her vehicle before 5:00 p.m. and returned to it at approximately 7:30 p.m. to
find a long scratch on the front left bumper and words written on the rear
driver side window. Before boarding her train, an unidentified male had approached
the victim and followed her asking her questions. She eventually asked him to
leave and she boarded her train. Officers will contact transit authority in
efforts to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect.
