Police Reports 2/11/2014
On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle make a right turn onto Harvard St. from the middle lane of Beacon Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was only in possession of a learners permit and a search showed that the registration on the vehicle had been suspended. While speaking with the driver, the officer identified an odor of marijuana and found the driver in possession of less than one ounce. The driver was cited and will be summoned to court for not being duly licensed, operating after suspended registration, and making an improper turn. The driver was given a by-law citation for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and the vehicle was towed.
On February 11, dispatch received a call from a business on Beacon St. who wanted to report an incident of shoplifting. An employee of the store reported witnessing a man take an item and place it into a shopping bag he was carrying and leave the store. The matter is under investigation.
On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. stuck in the intersection of Harvard St. and School Street. The vehicle was blocking traffic from School Street. Once free from the intersection, the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop. A search by the officer and confirmation from dispatch showed that the driver did not have an active license. The driver was cited with not being duly licensed and blocking an intersection and was placed under arrest.
On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle driving over the speed limit on Allandale Rd. and initiated a traffic stop. The officer found that the driver’s license was expired and the driver had failed to report a change of address to the Motor Vehicle Registry. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating with an expired license, failure to notify the registry of change of address, and speeding.
