March 18th

Arrest

Occurred 9:54AM (3/17) – 59 Oakland Rd.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious parked vehicle. Officers discovered a car containing three people that appeared to be smoking marijuana. After conversing with the occupants and searching the vehicle, officers found two containers holding marijuana and distribution paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute.

Fraud

Occurred between 7:32PM (8/10/2009) and 3:00PM (3/5) – High St.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that she filed for health insurance with a company called the American Trade Association (sometimes also known as Smart Data Solutions) through a sales representative. The company charged her payments for 7 months. During these months, the victim went to two doctor’s appointments and received delinquent bills on both. These bills should have been covered under her insurance plan. It is now believed that the insurance is a scam. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny

Occurred between 8:00PM (3/16) and 7:48AM (3/17) – Englewood Ave.

Police responded to a reported larceny. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle in the rear lot behind his home. When he returned to the vehicle in the morning, he noticed that the passenger side had been placed on cinderblocks and the front and rear tires were missing. Police are following up on the case.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Occurred between 9:15PM (3/16) and 8:21AM (3/17) – Laurel Rd.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she had parked her vehicle in her driveway. When she returned to her vehicle, the right front passenger window had been smashed. The victim’s bag was stolen from the passenger’s seat containing two bracelets, a cell phone, and a wallet. Police are following up on the case.

Burglary

Occurred between 6:00PM (3/16) and 7:35AM (3/17) – Newton St.

Police were in the process of searching for items from a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had occurred earlier in the day. While looking, officers found a nylon bag and two pairs of sneakers with a gym ID, unrelated to the first break. After locating the owner, it was discovered that she had been searching for her bag and had noticed it was missing from her vehicle. The victim also stated that when she went to leave her house in the morning, her back door was unlocked and open but nothing was missing from the house. She insisted that she always locks that door. Police are following up on the case.
