Crime Report (4/30/07)

ARRESTS

  • Occurred at 12:31 a.m. (4/27/07)- 302 Harvard Street

    John Thompson of Brookline was placed under arrest for Operating under the Influence of an Intoxicating Liquor after failing a field sobriety test. Thompson also received a citation for receiving stolen property. He had had a suitcase in the back of the vehicle at the time of the stop, and an inventory search revealed multiple prescription bottles, a purse containing a passport, a digital camera, US and Jamaican coins, women’s clothing, and toiletries. Thompson additionally received a citation for failure to display headlights, the initial reasoning for the traffic stop.

  • Between 7:50 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. (4/27/07)- 155 Harvard Street

    Gregory Croft of Jamaica Plain was arrested for Shoplifting and for a default warrant. Croft had shoplifted at the Stop and Shop on Harvard, placing multiple perishable items in a backpack.

  • Between 12:25 a.m. and 12:36 a.m. (4/28/07)- 1195 Boylston Street

    Lafaiete Ferreirra of Somerville was placed under arrest for Not Being Duly Licensed and speeding.

  • Occurred at 10:30 a.m. (4/27/07)- 300 South Street

    Ian Wood of South Boston was arrested for a default warrant for failure to appear.

B&E&L OF MOTOR VEHICLE

  • Between 8:00 p.m. (4/26/07) and 8:15 a.m. (4/27/07)- Washington Street

    The driver side window of the victim’s vehicle was smashed and a portable Garmin GPS (E340) system was missing.

  • Between 7:00 p.m. (4/26/07) and 6:00 a.m. (4/27/07)- Thornton Road

    The passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle had been smashed. A GPS car adapter, radio/traffic transmitter for GPS, cell phone charger, and a radio detector was stolen.

LARCENY

  • Between 3:00 p.m. (4/24/07) and 7:00 a.m. (4/25/07)- 874 Commonwealth Ave

    At the above time and location, four espresso machines had been stolen from Starbucks. Two of the machines had been on demo and were on display on the front counter. The other two had still been in the boxes.

  • Between 7:45 p.m. (4/27/07) and 12:50 p.m. (4/28/07)- 41 Carlton Street

    At the above time and location, the victim’s bicycle was stolen from the basement of her building. The victim reported that the door had been locked when she had left that morning, but there appeared to be no forced entry. Other tenants keep their bikes in the same area.

  • Between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (4/28/07)- 320 Harvard Street

    At the above time and location, the owner of Fire Opal reported a shoplifting. The owner stated that a blue Shoal (valued at $250) had been stolen from the store.

ASSAULT

  • Occurred at 2:38 a.m. (4/28/07)- St Paul Street/Commonwealth Avenue

    At the above time and location, the witness had been walking with a friend when he was assaulted by two black male suspects. One of the black males had punched the victim in the back of the head multiple times. The friend of the victim was frantic and yelled at the suspects to stop. The suspects stopped and took off with the group of girls they had been standing with. Using the description given by the victim, one of the suspects was later found and identified. He will be summonsed to court for Assault and Battery.

  • Between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. (4/20/07)- 307 Harvard Street

    At the above time and location, the victim had been assaulted by a man with a knife. The victim stated the he had gone outside of the Coolidge Corner Club House to smoke a cigarette when the suspect approached him, making a comment about the victim’s New York hat. When the victim didn’t acknowledge the suspect, the suspect got in his face and started yelling at him. The victim pushed him away. At this time, the suspect came at the victim with a knife and cut his hand and neck. When the victim went inside to get a friend, the suspect ran off. The victim’s wounds resulted in a total of forty stitches. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 20s, approximately 6’0”, 200 lbs, thin goatee, wearing a Red Sox hat and a World Series Champions 2004 sweatshirt.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

  • Between 3:00 p.m. (4/21/07) and 12:00 p.m. (4/25/07)- 1498 Beacon Street

    At the above time and location, the victim reported that his motor vehicle had been stolen. The victim had parked his vehicle in his parking spot on 4/21 and did not return to it until 4/25 when he discovered it missing. The victim reported that he does not drive often, and had not seen the vehicle since he parked it.

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

  • Occurred at 11:36 p.m. (4/28/07)- Harvard Street/Green Street

    At the above time and location, there had been a report of five youths knocking down mailboxes. Two witnesses had heard the mailboxes being knocked to the ground and had observed the youths in the area. Two of the suspects were later found and identified. They admitted to the act and will be summonsed into court for malicious destruction of property.
