Police Reports August 1, 2014 through August 3, 2014

On August 1, an officer observed a vehicle speeding along Boylston St. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked the driver for his license and registration. The individual was not licensed to drive and was placed under arrest.

On August 1, an officer observed a vehicle speeding along Boylston St. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked the driver for her license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest. Based on information obtained at the scene, the driver is also being charged with possession of class B and E drugs.

On August 1, an officer responded to Manchester Rd for two reports of stolen license plates. The individual stated that when he returned to his car that morning, he noticed the plate was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On August 1, an officer observed a vehicle take an illegal left turn from Webster St onto Harvard St. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On August 2, an officer observed a vehicle driving along Boylston St at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked the driver for her license and registration. The driver had a suspended license and was under arrest.

On August 2, an officer responded to Marion St for a report of stolen packages. The individual believes that packages were stolen from the lobby of her residence sometime on August 1st. The matter is under investigation.

On August 2, an officer responded to Chestnut St for a report of fraudulent calls. The individual stated she received a threatening phone call. The caller requested that the individual send monetary funds, which she did not. Please remember to never give personal information over the phone.

On August 2, officers responded to a report of theft at a business along Commonwealth Ave. The officers were informed that an item was taken from the register. The surveillance showed the subject taking the item from the register and placing it into her purse. The subject was placed under arrest theft.

On August 2, an officer responded to a business on Harvard St for a report of a stolen wallet. The individual is an employee and had her purse under her register. When she came back from assisting a costumer she noticed it was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On August 3, an officer responded to a report of a breaking and entering along Walnut St. The individual stated that sometime the day before her vehicle was broken into and items were taken. The vehicle was unlocked.

On August 3, an officer responded to a report of breaking and entering of a vehicle along Fairmont St. Some items were from the vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and left unlocked.

On August 3, an officer responded to Windsor Rd for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual stated that he had his bicycle taken from his garage during the day.


 On August 3, an officer responded to Holland Rd for a report of a breaking and entering of a vehicle and a larceny of a bicycle. The individual believes that both of his cars were broken into over the night. Nothing appeared to be taken from the vehicle. Both of the vehicles were unlocked.

Police Reports July 31, 2014


On July 31, an individual came into the Brookline Police Department for a report of a license plate theft. The individual noticed Thursday morning that his license plate was missing from the front of his vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

7/30/2014

Police Reports for July 30, 2014


On July 30, officers were monitoring traffic along Beacon St. By random query, it was determined that a passing vehicle failed inspection months prior. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver provided her license and registration. Based on information obtained during the stop, the driver was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Police Reports July 29, 2014

On July 29, an officer was monitoring traffic along Harvard St and School St. By random query, it was determined that a passing vehicle had a suspended registration and the owner had a suspended license. The officer pulled the vehicle over. The driver’s license and registration was suspended and he was placed arrest.  
On July 29, an officer responded to Harvard St for a call for shoplifting. The officer met with the manager of the store who explained that the subject put items in her bag and exited the store. The woman then boarded a bus. An officer boarded the bus and had the subject exit. The items were confiscated and the subject was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

Police Reports July 28, 2014

On July 28, an officer responded to Washburn Pl for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual believed her bicycle was stolen sometime overnight. The bicycle was unlocked on her porch.


On July 28, an officer observed a vehicle with a broken tail light along the intersection of Washington St and Juniper St. The officer conducted a traffic stop and asked for the driver and the passenger’s license and registration.  The driver had a nonrenewable license status and the passenger had a warrant for his arrest. Both subjects were placed under arrest.

Police Reports July 25, 2014 through July 27, 2014

On July 25, an officer responded to Pearl St for a report of a larceny. The individual noticed cash was missing from her residence the day before and believed someone entered her apartment. The matter is under investigation.

On July 25, an officer observed a vehicle speeding and traveling in and out of lanes along Harvard St. The officer conducted a traffic stop and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver was unable to provide a registration. Based on observations, the driver appeared to be intoxicated. The driver was placed under arrest and his license was suspended.

On July 26, an officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Chestnut Hill Rd. Upon arrival, officers met with the driver of the vehicle, who appeared to be intoxicated. Based on observations and evidence from the scene, the driver was placed under arrest.

On July 26, an officer responded to St Paul St for a report of a past package theft. The individual stated that while she was on vacation, two packages were delivered to her residence. Upon her arrival home from vacation, the items were taken out of the delivery boxes and only the boxes were left. The matter is under investigation.

On July 27, an officer conducted a traffic stop along Harvard and Kent St. The driver had a suspended license and default warrant. The driver fled the scene. Officers caught him and placed him under arrest.
On July 27, an officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Harvard St and Kent St. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver fled from the scene. Officers chased the subject and placed him under arrest. Based on information obtained at the scene, the subject is being charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

On July 27, an officer responded to Beacon St for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual’s bicycle was locked on the individual bike rack at the residence. Sometime between July 25 and July 27, the bicycle went missing. The matter is under investigation. 


On July 27, officers responded to Park St and Marion St for a report of a disorderly person. Upon arrival, officers met with the subject who was sitting on a bench and appeared intoxicated. Based on the subject’s behavior, he was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Police Reports July 24, 2014

On July 24, an officer observed a vehicle driving in the bicycle lane along Washington St. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was revoked resulting in the driver’s arrest.

On July 24, an officer observed a vehicle driving along Boylston St at a high rate of speed. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On July 24, an officer observed a possible cab evasion along Washington St and Boylston St. The subject fled from the cab and officers chased the subject and placed him under arrest. The cab driver stated that there was a verbal altercation in the cab which resulted into the subject assaulting the driver. The subject is summonsed to Brookline District Court.

On July 24, an officer responded to a shoplifting report on Beacon St. The officer and the manager of the business reviewed footage of the incident where the suspect forcibly ripped two cell phones from display. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9”, teens/early 20s, thin build, no facial hair, wearing tight grey sweat pants, black shirt with logos on the front and back, white Nike sneakers and a black running hat.  
On July 24, an officer observed a vehicle drive through a crosswalk while a pedestrian was crossing along Washington St. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.


On July 24, an officer responded to Egmont St for a report of a missing dog and larceny. The individual stated that she was scheduled for maintenance to her apartment during the day. Upon her arrival to her residence, she discovered that many items were taken from her home and her dog was missing. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports July 23, 2014

On July 23, an officer was dispatched to Commonwealth Ave for a report of a theft. The officer met with the individual who stated that his backpack was emptied and the items were taken. Based on surveillance, the individual’s backpack was taken out of the employee office and brought into the bathroom and emptied by the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male, average height, medium build, shaved head, wearing jeans and a plaid button down shirt. On July 23, an officer responded to St. Paul St for a past breaking and entering. The officer met with the property manager who was notified by several residences that packages were missing. Based on surveillance, on July 15, several packages were taken from the lobby by the subject. The subject is described as a white male wearing a white tank top, dark shorts, sneakers and a white hooded sweatshirt. The hood was covering his face. On July 23, officers responded to Washington St for a residential breaking and entering. The officers checked the apartment and determined nobody was still inside the residence. The residence was broken into sometime during the day while the individual was not home. The door to the apartment appeared to be pried open and numerous items were taken.

Police Reports July 22, 2014

On July 22, officers responded to Manchester Rd and Naples Rd for a report of a stolen scooter. The scooter was not secured or locked to anything.

On July 22, an officer responded to Commonwealth Ave for a report of a larceny at a business. The manager believes tires were taken sometime on July 15 from outside of the business. The matter is under investigation.  

On July 22, an officer observed a motor vehicle drive through a red light on Harvard St and Babcock St. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.


On July 22, an officer responded to Tappan St for a report of a past larceny. The individual stated that her vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in the afternoon. The vehicle was locked. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports July 21,2014

On July 21, an officer conducted a traffic stop along Boylston St for a vehicle that was speeding. The officer asked for the driver’s license and registration, which the driver did not have in his possession. The driver’s license was suspended. Due to information obtained from the scene, officers started an investigation which led to the arrest of the driver. The driver was arrested operating with a suspended license, and possession of marijuana and cocaine.

On July 21, an individual came into the police station to report a stolen bicycle. The individual stated he locked his bicycle to a bicycle rack along Station St on Saturday July 19. On July 21, his bicycle was missing and the lock was cut and left beside the rack.


On July 21, an officer responded to a business on Beacon St for a report of a past larceny. Two employees had personal items stolen from the business. Their items were placed in the employee office at the business. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports July 18, 2014 through July 20, 2014

On July 18, an officer responded to Beacon St for a past breaking and entering. The individual’s phone and cash were taken from his office the night before. The front and back doors were locked and there did not appear to be a forced entry. The matter is under investigation.

On July 18, an individual came into the station to report a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was attached to a tree along Beacon St the night before. When the individual came outside, she noticed her bicycle was missing.

On July 18, an officer observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign along Newton St. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.


On July 19, officers responded to Harvard St for a report of shoplifting. A manager reported that two subjects were stealing items from the store. The officer stopped the subjects and retrieved the stolen items. They were then placed under arrest and summonsed to Brookline District Court.

7/17/2014

Police Reports July 17, 2014

On July 17, an officer observed a vehicle infraction at the Harvard St and Beacon St intersection. The officer conducted a traffic stop, asking for the driver’s license and registration. During the traffic stop, marijuana was seized from the vehicle and the two individuals were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana.

On July 17, officers responded to Freeman St and St. Paul St for a report of an assault. The individuals stated that they were walking up Freeman St when he heard the sound of a bullet pass by them. The other individual was struck on his stomach. Officers were also approached by a third victim who was hit by a bb bullet. As officers investigated, they observed more bb bullets being fired in the area. Based on these observations, officers were lead to the building where the bullets appeared to be fired from. Officers entered the building and spoke with the subject believed to be firing the bb gun. Officers found two bb guns in the residence and placed the suspect under arrest for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.


On July 17, an officer responded to a motor vehicle accident on Harvard St. One of the parties involved in the accident did not have a license. It was determined that the individual’s license was suspended and there was a warrant for her arrest. The individual was placed under arrest.

Police Reports July 16, 2014

On July 16, an officer observed a vehicle fail to signal while turning along Tappan St. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver did not have a license but owned the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest for unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

On July 16, an officer responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave for a stolen cellphone. An employee left his phone in the restroom until he noticed it missing. The matter is under investigation.  

On July 16, an officer responded to a business on Beacon St for a past larceny. The manager of the store reported that a cellphone that was on display was stolen from the store sometime that day. That matter is under investigation.

On July 16, officers responded to Boylston St for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The subject fled from the scene with items taken from the vehicle and went into a parking lot. Officers started a search and stopped an individual who fit the description of the subject. Based on information obtained from the scene, the subject was placed under arrest for breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.


On July 16, an officer responded to High St for a report of malicious damage. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with an individual who believed someone shot her window with a BB gun the night before. Based on information obtained at the scene, there was more visible damage in other windows of the building. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports July 15, 2014

On July 15, an officer responded to Beacon St for a larceny of a wallet. The individual left her wallet on the counter for a few minutes and upon return she noticed her wallet was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On July 15, an officer responded to Netherlands Rd for a past report of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The individual’s bag was taken from her vehicle sometime on July 9th. The individual is unsure whether the vehicle was unlocked or not.


On July 15, an officer responded to Winthrop Rd for a report of vehicle vandalism. The individual stated the vehicle was parked in the same spot all day. The driver side window was smashed but nothing was missing from the vehicle.

Police Reports July 14, 2014

On July 14, an officer responded to a call for attempted breaking and entering on Tappan St. The individual noticed that the back door window screen was cut open and the door stripping was damaged. Entry was not gained. The matter is under investigation.

On July 14, officers responded to St. Paul St for a motor vehicle breaking and entering. The individual came back to his vehicle to find the passenger window smashed. The individual’s backpack was taken from the vehicle. No other items appeared to be taken from the vehicle.

Police Reports July 11, 2014 through July 14, 2014

On July 11, an officer was conducting general patrol along Washington St and Harvard St. By random query of registration, the officer was informed that the owner of the vehicle had a revoked license. The individual was placed under arrest for operating with a revoked license.

On July 11, officers observed a vehicle drive through a red light at Beacon St and St Paul St. Officers initiated a stop and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On July 11, an officer responded to a call for a larceny of a license plate at Rice St. The individual’s car was parked on Centre St when he noticed his license plate was removed. The matter is under investigation.

On July 12, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement at Middlesex Rd and Circuit Rd and observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign. An officer initiated a stop and was informed the individual’s license was suspended. The individual was summonsed to Brookline District Court.

On July 12, an officer responded to Harvard St for a report of damage to a building. The individual believes that an object was thrown through the window of the door which notified the alarm company. Entry was not gained as a result. The matter is under investigation.

On July 13, an officer observed a vehicle hit a traffic island while attempting to take a left turn along Beacon St. The individuals stepped out of the vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated. Based on observations, the driver was placed under arrest.


On July 13, an officer responded to a report for two attempted breaking and entering along White Pl. Upon arrival to the first residence, it appeared that the front door had been forced open but no entrance was made. The second residence had a screen that appeared to be tampered with. No entrance was made into the residence. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports July 10, 2014

On July 10, an officer was monitoring traffic at the intersection of Cypress St and Boylston St and observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On July 10, an officer responded to a call on Goddard Ave for a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The individual noticed his back window was smashed and items were taken from the vehicle. The truck also appeared to be targeted. The matter is under investigation.

On July 10, an officer was conducting general patrol at Washington St and Harvard St. By random query of registration, the officer was informed that the owner of a passing vehicle had a revoked license. The individual was placed under arrest for operating after a revocation of license.


On July 10, officers observed a vehicle drive through a red light along Beacon St. The officers pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver for their license and registration. The license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

Police Reports July 9, 2014

On July 9, an officer responded to report a past breaking and entering on Salisbury Rd. The individual believed her car was broken into the night before while parked in her driveway. Nothing was missing from the vehicle, but the center console was open. The individual also noticed scratches on the side of her vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked.

On July 9, an officer responded to report two stolen bicycles on Euston St.  The individual left the two bikes mounted on the roof rack of her vehicle the night before. When she returned in the morning, the two bicycles were missing.

On July 9, an officer observed an individual riding his bicycle in a suspicious manner. As the officer continued to observe, the individual went into an apartment complex and exited with a package in his possession. The individual then sped on his bicycle out of the apartment complex. The officer initiated a stop. Upon investigation the officer determined the package was stolen. The individual was placed under arrest.

On July 9, officers responded to Washington St for a past larceny. Officers spoke with the owner of a paving company who stated two pieces of equipment were missing from his current job on Washington St. The individual believes the items were taken sometime between Sunday July 6 and Tuesday July 8. The matter is under investigation.

On July 9, officers responded to Crafts Rd for a breaking and entering. The residents stated upon coming home from vacation, they noticed their house was broken into. Some items were taken from the home. The matter is under investigation.

On July 9, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement along Harvard St and observed a vehicle take an improper left. The officer pulled the vehicle over and asked for the license and registration. The individual had a suspended license and was placed under arrest.

On July 9, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement along Hammond St and observed a vehicle speeding. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The individual’s license was suspended. The individual was placed under arrest for operating with a suspended license and speeding.

On July 9, an officer responded to Kenwood St for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual believed the bicycle went missing sometime from July 3 to July 8. The bicycle was unsecured and kept in a garage.


On July 9, officers responded to Ivy St for a report of a stolen bicycle. An individual observed two subjects taking a bicycle from the residence before fleeing. Sometime after, officers responded to a report of two subjects that were tampering with a bicycle’s lock on Park St. The two subjects were stopped by officers and taken into custody. The subjects were summonsed to Brookline District Court for larceny.

Police Reports July 8, 2014

On July 8, officers responded to a report of a past robbery on Harvard St. The individual stated he deposited cash from the bank and went to a nearby laundromat. While in the store, the subject demanded money from the individual. The individual refused and the subject physically attacked him. During the altercation, the subject took cash from the individual’s pocket then fled on his bicycle towards Beacon St. The subject was described as a white male, middle aged, 5’8”, heavy set and unshaven. The subject was wearing a blue cap and light blue plaid shirt. On July 8, an officer responded to Parkvale Rd for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual believes two bicycles were stolen within the past couple weeks from the basement of his home. The bicycles were not locked. The matter is under investigation.


On July 8, an officer responded to a report for shoplifting along Beacon St. The staff stated that they observed the subject put an item into her bag. Once the subject exited the store, officers stopped her, checked her bag and found the item. The subject is summonsed to Brookline District Court for shoplifting.

Police Reports July 7, 2014

On July 7, an officer responded to a live breaking and entering of a motor vehicle along Sewall Ave. An individual reported seeing two males enter a vehicle that she did not recognize as the owner. The two males looked through the center console. The subjects fled the scene. Upon checking with the owner of the vehicle, nothing was believed to be taken. The vehicle was left unlocked.

On July 7, an officer responded to Penniman Rd for a report of larceny. The individual stated his excavator was stolen on June 29 from a work location. The matter is under investigation.

On July 7, an officer responded to Clark Rd to report a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The officer spoke with the individual who stated his ipod was stolen from his vehicle on July 3, 2014. The individual believes he left his vehicle unlocked. The matter is under investigation.


On July 7, an officer responded to Perry St for an attempted breaking and entering that occurred on Saturday, July 7. The individual noticed pry marks on her door and door frame when she came home Saturday evening. The individual recalls locking her door before she left and the door was still locked upon her arrival. She does not believe the subject gained access to her apartment.

Police Reports July 3, 2014 through July 6, 2014

On July 3, an officer was conducting general traffic enforcement along Harvard St and Babcock St. By random query, the officer observed a passing vehicle that was not inspected. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for their license and registration. There was another individual in the backseat of the vehicle who was not wearing a seat belt. The officer gathered information from the individual and was notified that there was a warrant for his arrest. The officer placed the individual under arrest.

On July 3, an officer responded to a call for breaking and entering on Lowell Rd. The individual stated the three vehicles that were broken into were left unlocked. Items were stolen from one vehicle. The other two vehicles appeared looked through, but nothing was taken.

On July 3, an officer observed a vehicle make contact with another vehicle, causing minor damage. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked for the driver’s license. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On July 3, an officer responded to a hit and run motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Washington St and Greenough St. Upon arrival, the individual stated a vehicle driving from the opposite direction collided with her car. The individual pulled over to exchange information but the other vehicle left the scene. Information officers gathered led to them to the subject. The subject is summonsed to Brookline District Court for fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

On July 3, an officer responded to University Rd for a report of larceny. Upon arrival, the individual stated that while his motorcycle was parked along University Rd, his helmet was stolen. The helmet was not locked to the motorcycle.

On July 3, an officer responded to Harvard St for a report of larceny of a cell phone. Upon arrival, the individual stated he left his phone charging in an outlet at the restaurant. The individual then stepped out to his car and when he came back the phone was missing. Officers gathered information at the scene and the matter is under investigation.

On July 3, officers responded to Kent St and Linden St for reported fireworks. Upon arrival, officers spoke with two individuals who were holding fireworks. Both individuals are summonsed to Brookline District Court for possession of fireworks.

On July 4, an officer responded to Harvard St for a report of attempted shoplifting. The subject was stopped by officers outside of the store. The subject had an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest.


On July 6, an officer was assigned to Centre St for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual left her son’s bicycle outside of her house with other family bicycles. About two hours later she went outside and noticed her son’s bicycle was missing. The bicycle was not locked and secured like the other bicycles.

Police Reports for July 2, 2014

On July 2, an officer conducting traffic enforcement along Boylston St observed a vehicle speeding. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The individual had a suspended license and was placed under arrest.

On July 2, an officer responded to Babcock St for a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The individual stated his car was broken into sometime overnight. A window of the vehicle was smashed and a few items were taken from the car. The matter is under investigation.

On July 2, an officer responded to a shoplifting incident along Beacon St. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with an employee who stated the individual fled the store. The matter is under investigation.

On July 2, an individual came to the Brookline Police Department to report theft of a package from his home. The package was confirmed delivered but the individual could not locate the item. The individual informed the postal office and they are investigating the matter.  

On July 2, an individual came to the Brookline Police Department to report larceny of a bicycle. The individual’s bicycle was stolen from the front porch of her home sometime after June 30. The bicycle was not locked.


On July 2, officers responded to a shoplifting incident along Harvard St. Upon arrival, offers spoke with two employees of the store who believed the individual shoplifted. Video surveillance and an inventory check will be conducted to confirm if any additional items were stolen. The matter is under investigation.

July 1, 2014

On July 1, an officer responded to New Terrace Rd regarding a group disturbance. Upon arrival, the group became uncooperative, becoming increasingly disruptive. Town by-law citations were issued for the disruptions.

On July 1, an officer conducting a traffic speed along Boylston St observed a vehicle speeding. The officer stopped the vehicle, and asked for the individual’s license and registration. There was a warrant for the individual, resulting in an arrest.

On July 1, an officer responded to a motor vehicle hit and run along Marion St. The individual informed the officer that he was hit by a vehicle that then drove off. The individual believes that the person driving the vehicle exited the car and approached him in an assaulting manner. The matter is under investigation.

On July 1, an officer conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Marion St and Park St The officer observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign. The officer conducted a traffic stop and asked the driver for their license and registration. The driver’s license was expired and the individual was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed and giving false information to the police officer.


On July 1, an officer responded to Osborne Rd to take reports of two stolen bicycles. The two bikes were taken front the residents front porches sometime in late June.

Police Reports 6/27/14 through 6/29/2014

On June 26, an officer responded to Jamaica Rd where two vehicles were reported broken into the night before. The individual reports that he left his vehicle unlocked the night of June 25. The next morning, he noticed small things were missing. As a reminder, please make sure you lock your car doors.  
On June 26, an officer conducting general patrol observed a vehicle proceed straight from the left turn lane along Harvard St. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and asked the driver for his license and registration. The driver did not have a license and it was expired.  The driver was then placed under arrest.
On June 26, an officer was dispatched to Centre St for breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle who said he parked his car in the spot on Monday June 23 and returned to his vehicle Thursday morning. He then noticed his rear window was smashed, but noticed nothing was taken from the vehicle.

On June 26, officers responded to a call for breaking and entering on Cypress St. The resident reported coming home to a man inside of her home. The suspect then jumped out of the window and ran onto Cypress St. Information obtained at the scene lead officers to an arrest of a subject on June 28.
On June 27, an officer responded to Milton Rd regarding a report of a man throwing beer cans at houses. The individual reports that the male threw beer cans at his home and at him while he was looking out his window. Two beer cans were found on a front walkway of one home and another identical beer can was found at another address across the street. The male was picked up at the police station and summons to Brookline District Court. 

On June 27, an officer responded to Beacon St regarding a residents missing piece of property. The woman reports placing a package in front of her unit on June 21 that contained an item that would be sent back to the sender. Later in the evening, the woman noticed the package was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On June 28, an officer responded to Penniman Rd to investigate a report of a door that was left open. Officers met with the resident’s housekeeper, who stated she came through the back door with a key and found the front door and basement door was left open. The housekeeper reported several rooms were ransacked. The matter is under investigation.

On June 29, officers responded to Washington St and Beacon St regarding a person who was asleep in a stationary vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle to find a female asleep with her foot on the break while the car was running. The officers spoke with a witness about what they observed. Based upon witness statements and the officer’s observations, the driver was arrested and her license was suspended.
On June 29, an officer responded to Harvard St regarding a report for shoplifting. Upon arrival, the woman ran towards the exit of the store and the officer stopped her. The officer observed a bag full of items from the store and security identified her as the woman who was shoplifting.  An employee stated that before the police arrived, the woman also threatened her with a box cutter when she attempted to leave the store. The woman was placed under arrest.

On June 29, an officer responded to Harvard St regarding a shoplifter that was in custody. Loss Prevention observed the individual put items in her bag. They approached the individual once she left the store asking to her to return to the store. The individual cooperated and stolen items were found in her bag. Upon the officer’s arrival, the individual started to yell and became very uncooperative. She was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

June 30, 2014

On June 30, an individual came to the Brookline Police station to report fraudulent charges that occurred between June 21 and June 22. The credit card company was notified of these charges and the card was canceled. The matter is under investigation.

On June 30, an officer was dispatched to Longwood Ave for a report of fraud. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who stated she was contacted by the IRS who stated she owed money. The woman gave no information and ended the call. The matter is under investigation. Please be aware that this is a common fraud. Please never give out personal information over the phone.

On June 30, an officer responded to Tappan St for a report of breaking and entering. The officer spoke with two employees, one who stated he locked the building on June 27. Upon arrival June 30, he noticed a door and a window were open in the building. The matter is under investigation.

On June 30, an officer was dispatched to Winthrop Rd to respond to a stolen bike report. The individual stated that he locked the bike to the fence in front of his home the night before. A few hours later, the individual noticed the bike was missing.  


On June 30, an officer spoke with an individual who stated that property of his went missing while working on Tappan St. While the individual was working, he left his items next to a tree and upon arrival he could not find them. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 6/25/2014

On June 25, an officer responded to Russett Rd. for a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that she had placed two plastic stands on her walkway the day before and recently noticed that they were missing.

On June 25, an officer was dispatched to Brighton Rd. for a past larceny. The victim reported that he had been playing with friends on Staunton Rd. when he left his backpack in his friend’s yard behind a fence. When the victim returned for his bag he noticed that his backpack was there but his personal items were gone. The matter is under investigation.

On June 25, as part of an ongoing undercover operation by the Brookline Vice Unit, two male parties were arrested and charged with enticement of a child.

Arrest made of a man charged with Animal Cruelty


Today Brookline Police arrested a local man and charged him with Animal Cruelty. Brookline Police working with information provided from the MSPCA, conducted an investigation into an alleged act of Animal Cruelty. Acting swiftly with the information they received, the Department sought an arrest warrant for a local man, age 24 for allegedly smothering a pet dog. The subject was taken into custody this afternoon without incident at his residence. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Brookline District Court on Thursday.

On June 24, an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Boylston St. for a car that had made an illegal right on red, had an expired registration, and had a broken driver’s side taillight. The officer found that the driver’s right to operate had been suspended and she was placed under arrest.

On June 24, while conducting a traffic post at Harvard, Stedman, and Williams Streets, an officer had stopped traffic for an ambulance to get through. At this time a vehicle turned left onto Harvard St. blocking the passage of the ambulance. The officer had the vehicle pull to the side of the road and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 24, as part of an ongoing undercover operation a male party was placed under arrest for enticement of a child.

On June 24, after conducting surveillance as part of an investigation one male party was placed under arrest for possession Class D with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, drug free park zone violation, and witness interference/obstruction of justice and one male party was placed under arrest for conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.

On June 24, Eastern Bank on Harvard St. was robbed. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, and six feet tall. The suspect showed a gun and fled on foot in the Coolidge Corner area. There were no injuries. This is an active investigation and anyone with information is urged to call the Brookline Police at 617-730-2222.

On June 24, an officer was dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for an attempted shoplifting. The store security guard stated that while working in the rear parking lot he observed a woman pushing a shopping cart of loose items out of the store. The security officer attempted to speak with the suspect who then fled the scene leaving the cart behind. The matter is under investigation.

On June 24, an officer responded to Beacon St. for a report of a stolen scooter. The reporting party stated that sometime between June 19 and June 24 her Vespa scooter was stolen from the corner of Beacon Street and Carlton Street. The matter is under investigation.

On June 23, a woman came into the Police Station to report the theft of her purse. The woman stated that she believed she had left her purse outside while she unloaded items from her parked car on Chestnut Ave. on June 21st. The next day, the woman realized that she was missing her purse. The matter is under investigation.

On June 23, officers responded to an office building on Beacon St. for a past breaking and entering report. The building owner was on scene and showed officers that many of the building doors, including the entrance doors, had pry marks near the lock suggesting that someone had broken in. The matter is under investigation.

On June 23, an officer was dispatched to a store on Boylston St. for a shoplifter who had just fled the store. The store manager stated that a female had entered the store with no items in her hand. The suspect then approached the counter stating she wanted to return an item with no receipt. In order to do so, the suspect had to produce her license. The officer was able to match the woman to the surveillance tape and she will be summoned to court for shoplifting.

On June 23, officers were dispatched to a home on Elliot Crescent for a past breaking and entering report. The home owner stated that he had left his home the morning of June 22 and had returned home the next evening. Upon his arrival home, the victim observed that a window which is part of the front door was smashed. The officers discovered an attempted break at the rear of the house where a window was ajar and the screen had been detached. The matter is under investigation.

On June 23, an officer was dispatched to Chestnut St. for a report of a stolen bicycle. The resident stated that his son’s bicycle had been stolen from the rear of the driveway sometime between June 21st and the afternoon of June 23rd.

On June 23, officers responded to Washington St. for a past residential breaking and entering and larceny of property. The victim stated that when she returned to her home that evening she discovered that jewelry was missing. Officers found an open storm window in the rear of the house. The matter is under investigation.

On June 23, an officer was approached by two citizens who wanted to report an erratic driver on Goddard Avenue. The witnesses stated that the vehicle had almost collided with another vehicle, had almost hit a light pole, and had almost hit them as they walked towards their cars. The officer located the vehicle in question and spoke with the driver and passenger. While speaking with them, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were half closed, his speech was slurred and slow, and there was an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence of liquor as well as operating after suspension.

On June 20, an officer observed a vehicle with no front license plate make an illegal turn on Washington Street at Boylston Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 20, an officer initiated a motor vehicle stop for a vehicle that had travelled through a red light and made a U-turn on Beacon Street. Checking with Dispatch, the officer found that the driver had a revoked driving status in MA. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 20, officers responded to a residence on Harvard Ave. for a residential alarm. Officers observed that two windows were open and the screen on one had a slight tear. Walking through the residence with the homeowner, officers observed that jewelry was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On June 20, an officer responded to Pleasant St. for a larceny of a bicycle. The reporting party stated that she had locked her bike to a town pole at the corner of Pleasant Street and Browne Street on June 18th and discovered it missing on the 20th. The matter is under investigation.

On June 20, a man came into the Police Station to report that his mail had been tampered with. The reporting party stated that his mailbox is a locked box located inside his apartment building lobby on Centre Street. The man stated that when he retrieved his mail that day he found that one of the envelopes had been opened and a credit card had been removed. The matter is under investigation.

On June 21, a man was placed under arrest for soliciting pedestrians for money on Beacon Street.

On June 22, an officer was dispatched to Jamaica Rd. for a report of a stolen bicycle. The reporting party stated that he had left his bike along a fence outside the residence on June 21st and discovered it missing on June 22nd. The matter is under investigation.

On June 22, an officer was dispatched to St. Paul St. for a report of a stolen bicycle. The reporting party stated that he had left his bike in the building’s garage and went upstairs for approximately 30 minutes. When he returned, the man stated that his bike was gone and another was left in its place.

On June 18, an officer driving on Harvard St. observed a vehicle driving in a circular motion inside the TJ Maxx parking lot which was closed at that time. The officer approached the vehicle to speak with the occupants and asked for their identification. At this time, the officer found that the passenger had an active warrant in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On June 18, an officer observed a vehicle travel through a red light on Washington St. and proceed onto Corey Road. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver did not have a valid license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 17, as part of an ongoing drug operation by the Brookline Vice Unit, a male party was arrested for possession and distribution of Marijuana.

On June 17, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a fraud report. The reporting party stated that in the last six months he has received numerous phone calls from a male subject stating he is from the IRS. The caller has stated that the victim’s son owes money and has threatened the son with jail time. These calls are believed to be part of a scam.

On June 17, an officer responded to Newton St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.  The victim stated that she had left her pocketbook in her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway overnight. The woman stated that the next day she discovered that the rear door on her car was slightly ajar and later she found that her pocketbook was missing. The matter is under investigation.

On June 17, a woman came into the Police Station to report that her iPhone was stolen from her purse on June 3rd. The woman stated that she had visited two establishments on Commonwealth Ave. and at some time her phone was taken from her purse. The matter is under investigation.

On June 16, an officer responded to Euston St. for a report of a package theft. The reporting party stated that her laundry had been delivered that morning to the locked vestibule at the apartment building. The woman stated that she did not arrive home until that afternoon and at that time the laundry could not be located. The matter is under investigation.

On June 16, an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle that had travelled through a red light on Hammond Pond Parkway. The officer found that the driver did not have a valid license and the driver was placed under arrest.

On June 16, an officer observed a vehicle fail to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Harvard Street. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the vehicle’s registration was revoked and the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On 6/14/14 at approximately 1138hrs, a traffic stop was conducted at the corner of Longwood Ave. just after Harvard Street.  A license check revealed that the driver had a revoked license.  The operator was arrested and transported to the Brookline Police Station.

On 06/14/14 a vehicle was stopped at Boylston St. and Walnut St. for expired non-renewable plates.  A license check on the operator revealed that the driver had a suspended license.  The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 14, 2014 a traffic stop was conducted on Winchester Street. The officer learned that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station.

On June 10, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Cypress St. with a nonfunctional front headlight. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a revoked license and stolen plates. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with larceny property: under $250—license plate, attaching plates, operating after revocation, and defective equipment.

On June 10, an officer was dispatched to Park St. for a report of suspicious calls. The reporting party stated that she had received two calls from a male stating he was with the IRS. The man said that she owed money and if she didn’t pay she would be arrested. These calls are believed to be part of a scam.

On June 10, an officer was dispatched to Atherton Rd. for a report of a breaking and entering of a residence. The victim stated that she had arrived home and found her apartment open and her bedroom ransacked. Residents reported that numerous items were missing from the apartment. The matter is under investigation.

On June 9, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Warwick Rd. for a report of an attempted larceny under false pretense. The reporting party stated that she had received a telephone call from a man saying he was from the IRS. The man told the reporting party that she owed money and if she didn’t pay that day, she would be placed under arrest. At this time, the woman contacted the Brookline Police and was informed that the call was a possible scam.

On June 6, an officer responded to Payson Rd. for a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that their car had been parked overnight in their driveway and the next day they discovered that someone had broken into the car and attempted to take the seat belts. The matter is under investigation.

On June 6, a woman reported that her wallet had been stolen. The woman stated that she had left work to get coffee on Harvard St. and then returned to work and put her purse into a coat closet. The woman later received an email in regards to purchases from her credit card that she had not made. The matter is under investigation.

On June 6, an officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a report of a stolen license plate. The reporting party stated that the front license plate from his car had been removed some time since the night before.

On June 6, officers were dispatched to Reservoir Rd. for a report of a breaking and entering of a residence. Two residents stated that their home had been broken into earlier in the day and showed officers where a piece of sheet metal from their basement air conditioner had been pushed in so someone could make entry. The matter is under investigation

On June 7, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 7, an officer responded to the area of Beacon St. and St. Paul St. for a report of a suspicious person. The caller stated that a man was walking along Beacon St. with recycling container and appeared to be looking into the lobbies of various buildings. Officers located the male subject in a vehicle parked across from 1244 Beacon Street. An officer spoke with the male subject and was able to see a recycling bin matching the caller’s description as well as multiple packages in the front and back seat of the car. The man was placed under arrest for larceny from a building and receiving stolen property.

On June 8, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Boylston St. and initiated a traffic stop. The officer found that the driver was operating with a suspended license and he was placed under arrest.

On June 8, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. Officers were able to locate the suspect travelling on Pleasant St. and were able to stop him. Officers found the man in possession of stolen merchandise as well as wire snip pliers. The man was placed under arrest for shoplifting and possession of burglarious tools.

Police Reports 6/5/2014

On June 5, officers were dispatched to Harvard St. for a shoplifter who had fled the store. The store manager stated that an employee had alerted him of a suspicious male who he believed had placed items inside his jacket. When the suspect went to leave, he set off the security alarm at the exit and the store manager confronted him. The suspect fled towards Aspinwall Avenue. The matter is under investigation.

On June 5, officers responded to Commonwealth Ave. on a report of a fight between employees with a knife involved. Upon arrival the assistant manager pointed out the parties involved in the dispute and they were separated and spoken to. Witnesses stated that the two parties had been engaged in an argument in the kitchen of the restaurant when one grabbed a knife causing the other to pull out a pocket knife. The witnesses were able to grab the party with the pocket knife and make him drop it. Both parties were placed under arrest and charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

On June 4, a woman came into the Police Station to report a past larceny from a motor vehicle. The woman stated that the evening before she had left her purse in her unlocked car on Westbourne Tr. as she unloaded groceries. The vehicle was then moved to a parking space at the intersection of Washington St. and Corey Rd. where it was left overnight. On the morning of June 4, the woman discovered that her purse was missing from the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

On June 4, an officer responded to Independence Dr. for a report of breaking and entering. The officer was able to observe that the door to a storage room at the back of the garage had been damaged allowing someone to make entry. The matter is under investigation.

On June 4, an officer responded to Gerry Rd. for a breaking and entering that had occurred the night before. A worker told the officer that when he arrived for work that morning, he found that someone had gained access to the storage room and removed the lower part of a window in order to exit. The matter is under investigation.

On June 2, an officer observed a vehicle make a left turn onto Washington St. from the middle lane of Beacon, against a red left turn arrow. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a revoked license as well as active warrants in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On June 2, an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop for a car travelling on Washington St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer found that the driver was operating with a suspended license and he was placed under arrest.

On June 2, a woman came into the Police Department to report a case of fraud via the internet. The woman stated that since May 16, she had been in contact with a man in regards to his Craigslist post that he was looking to sublet. After coming to an agreement, the woman wired money for rent and then was unable to reach the man again. The matter is under investigation.

On June 2, officers were dispatched to a store on Harvard St. for a larceny report. An employee stated that he had been helping a customer when he went to retrieve something from the back of the store. When the employee returned, he discovered that the customer had left and money had been taken from the store’s lock box. The matter is under investigation.

A 47 year old male subject was chatting online with what he thought was a 15 year old girl from Brookline, who he had met on Craigslist. They agreed to meet at a local park on Saturday. When the subject arrived he was placed under arrest without incident and charged with Enticement of a Child.

On May 30, an officer observed a vehicle left in the middle of Dean Road. The car appeared to have struck a tree and been abandoned. The officer had seen a woman walking alone nearby and gave out her description so that she could be checked on. The woman in question was located at the intersection of Loveland Rd. and Eliot Street. Officers spoke to the woman and observed that she was unsteady on her feet, had slurred speech and glassy eyes, and had an odor of alcohol emanating from her. The woman was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

On May 30, an officer was dispatched to Independence Dr. for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny report. The reporting party stated that between 6pm on May 29 and 10:30am on May 30, someone had broken into his company’s storage shed. The matter is under investigation.

On May 30, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The reporting party stated that she had been expecting a package and when she contacted UPS they told her that it had already been delivered.

On May 30, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The reporting parties stated that sometime during the day someone had gone into the basement office of their store and stolen an iPad and laptop. The matter is under investigation.

On May 30, an officer was dispatched to the Kent St. Lot for a larceny report. The victim stated that she had parked her car and purchased a parking meter ticket and believes she had dropped her wallet in the lot. She was later notified about suspicious activity on her credit card. The matter is under investigation.

On May 30, an officer was dispatched to the parking lot by Park School for a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The vehicle in question had its passenger front window smashed and the owner stated that multiple items were taken.

On May 31, officers responded to the intersection of Washington St. and River Rd. to assist an officer who had a vehicle stopped. Upon arrival, the officers observed a vehicle pulled partway into a construction zone which was cordoned off with orange cones. The officers spoke to the driver and observed that his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and an odor of alcohol was emanating from him. The driver was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, marked lanes violation, and driving on roadway under construction. A search of the vehicle yielded a small baggy of marijuana. The driver is being cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On June 1, an officer responded to Green St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that multiple computer devices had gone missing from his apartment. The matter is under investigation.

On May 29, an officer responded to Saint Paul St. for a report of larceny. The reporting party stated that at approximately 4:30pm he had locked  his bike to a steel railing along the outdoor staircase of the building and noticed it missing at approximately 5pm. The officer observed that the lock had been cut and the matter is being investigation.

On May 28, an officer was dispatched to South St. for a report of malicious damage to a vehicle. The reporting party stated that between the night of the 27th and the morning of the 28th, two tires were slashed on her car while it was parked in her driveway.

On May 28, an officer was flagged down by an employee of a store on Harvard Street. The employee stated that a man had just taken items from the store and left without paying. The matter is under investigation.

On May 28, an officer was dispatched to Littell Rd. for a fraud report. The reporting party stated that he had received a call from a male party with a blocked number. The suspect stated that the he had been in a car accident with the reporting party’s father and indicated that he must send money to ensure his father’s safety. This is part of a scam and the matter is under investigation.

On May 27, a male party came into the Police Station to report a stolen bicycle. The man stated that the bike had been locked to a pole on St. Paul Street and was last seen that morning. When the man returned to the spot, the bike was gone and there were no remnants of a destroyed lock.

On May 27, an officer was dispatched to Webster St. for a report of a stolen cell phone. The reporting party stated that while using the bathroom at work, he had left his phone by the sink. When he realized he had left it behind, the man stated that he went back and it was missing.

On May 27, officers were dispatched to Washington St. for a report of an apartment break in. Officers spoke to two of the residents who stated that they noticed that the front door to their apartment was open and damaged. They stated that upon walking through the apartment they noticed that items had been moved and rummaged through. The matter is under investigation.

On May 23, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with a defective brake light. The officer queried the vehicle and found that it had a failed inspection. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had a suspended license and an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 23, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Middlesex Rd. and Circuit Road. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the vehicle was unregistered and the driver had an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 23, an officer was dispatched to Beals St. for a larceny of a cell phone. The reporting party stated his contracting company had been working at a house there and his cell phone had been stolen from the location. The matter is under investigation.

On May 23, a woman came to the front desk of the police department to report the theft of a package. The woman stated that in the morning she had received a text saying her package had been delivered but when she returned home later in the day, the package had been opened and the contents were gone.

On May 23, while patrolling in the area of Kent St. and Francis St., an officer received information of a suspicious person in the rear of a building on Kent Street. The officer located a man fitting the description and stopped the man. It was found that the man had a default warrant in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On May 24, officers responded to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. On arrival, an employee stated that he had observed the woman take an item and leave the store without paying at which time he had stopped her. Officers found that the woman had a warrant in effect and she was placed under arrest.

On May 24, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Clyde St. and cut off a vehicle at the intersection of Clyde and Newtown Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had a revoked license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 25, an officer ran a query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. and found that the registered owner had an active warrant in effect. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop and confirmed the warrant. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 25, an officer observed a vehicle come to a full stop in a no parking zone on Harvard Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the operator had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On May 26, an officer was dispatched to Williams St. for a report of a stolen laptop. The reporting party stated that while at a restaurant on Harvard St. he had left his laptop on the table while he went to use the bathroom. When he returned to the table, the laptop was missing.

On May 26, officers responded to Cypress St. for a report of a past breaking and entering. The reporting party stated that she had noticed that her jewelry box had been moved and some of her jewelry was missing. The matter is under investigation.
