Police Reports 4/4/2014 through 4/6/2014

On April 4, an officer observed a vehicle with a defective headlight travelling from Grove St. to Independence Drive. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had an expired license. The driver was cited for not being duly licensed and defective equipment. The car was released to the driver’s spouse who had an active license.

On April 4, an officer was dispatched to Dwight St. for a larceny of a package. The victim stated that when she arrived home, the package she was expecting was in the foyer and the contents had been removed.

On April 5, an officer was stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection of Boylston St. and Cypress St. when he ran the plates of the car in front of him. The officer found that the vehicle’s registered owner had a suspended license and he initiated a traffic stop. Dispatch confirmed the man’s license was suspended and he was placed under arrest.

On April 5, officers were dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for a no trespass order. An officer looked up the subject and discovered that he had an active warrant in effect. The man was placed under arrest.

On April 5, an officer was approached by a store employee in Coolidge Corner who wanted to report a larceny. The employee stated that a cell phone had been stolen from the display shelf and a dummy cell phone had been left behind. The matter is under investigation.

On April 5, an officer observed a scooter travel through a red light at the intersection of Washington and Beacon Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the operator had a suspended license. The operator was placed under arrest.

On April 6, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with a defective driver’s side headlight. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest. During an inventory of the car, officers found individual bags of marijuana, a glass pipe, and pills without a prescription. The driver is being charged with operating with defective equipment, operating with a suspended license, possession of Class D with intent to distribute, and possession of Class E prescription drugs.

Police Reports 4/3/2014

On April 3, officers observed a vehicle straddle the two lanes of traffic on Washington St. while stopped at a red light. The officers initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a revoked license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On April 3, an officer was dispatched to Harvard St. and Marion St. for a report of the larceny of a moped that was parked on the sidewalk. The owner stated that he had left the moped parked overnight and when he returned in the morning, it was gone. The matter is under investigation.

On April 3, officers were dispatched to Clinton Rd. for a report of a vehicle that had hit a tree. Officers spoke to the driver who appeared unsteady on his feet, had slow slurred speech, and had an odor of alcohol emanating from him. The driver was placed under arrest for OUIL (2nd offense) and operating to endanger.

On April 3, an officer was dispatched to Freeman St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had received a package that morning and had left it in the building vestibule. Upon her return in the evening, the woman found that her package had been opened and the contents were gone.

On April 3, an officer responded to Westbourne Terrace for a report of suspicious activity. The caller stated that there was a man in the building’s courtyard acting suspicious. Officers located the suspect inside one of the building’s storage rooms in the basement. The man was placed under arrest for breaking and entering at night with the intent to commit a misdemeanor and trespassing.

Police Reports 4/2/2014

On April 2, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Boylston Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and speeding.

On April 2, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a past larceny report. The victim stated that when he arrived at the lobby of his building he found that the package he had been waiting for was open and the contents were gone. While there, the officer discovered that there was another package in the lobby that had been opened and the contents removed. The officer spoke to the owner of that package as well. The matter is under investigation.

On April 2, an officer responded to Harvard St. for a report of fraud. The victim stated that he was notified by the IRS that his Federal Tax Return had been rejected. After contacting them, the victim learned that someone had used his information to file a tax return. The matter is under investigation.

On April 2, officers responded to Beacon St. for a shoplifter who was being detained in a store. An employee stated that he had observed the suspect take multiple items and place them into his bag before exiting the store. The suspect was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

On April 2, officers traveling on Washington St. saw a pedestrian begin to enter the roadway in a poorly lit area. As the officers approached, the subject, who had his hood up and was hard to see, stuck his tongue out and entered the lane of travel. The officers avoided the subject and saw that he had stumbled into the opposite lane. The officers spoke to the man and discovered that he had an active warrant in effect. The man was placed under arrest.

On March 31, a man came into the Police Station to report that he had been the victim of fraud. The man stated he received a letter from the IRS which stated they had received a form he had not filed. The matter is under investigation.

On March 31, an officer observed a vehicle turn right on red from Beacon Street to Washington Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failing to stop and operating after suspension.

Police Reports 3/28/2014 through 3/30/2014

On March 28, an officer was dispatched to Dwight St. for a report of past larcenies. The victim stated that she was expecting two packages and when she contacted the companies, she was informed that both packages had been delivered on March 20. The woman never received the packages and the matter is under investigation.

On March 28, an officer responded to Kent St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that a package had been delivered for him on March 26 but when he arrived at the building lobby, the package had been placed in the trash and the contents were gone. The man stated that he had the company send a replacement product which arrived earlier in the day, yet when he got to the lobby the package was once again in the trash and the contents were gone.

On March 29, an officer observed a vehicle enter Horace James Circle at a high rate of speed and exit onto Hammond Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor emanating from the driver. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, racing attempting to break a record, speeding, marked lanes violation, and open container in a motor vehicle.

On March 30, officers were dispatched to Winchester St. for a cab fare evasion. The driver stated that he had driven a female party to that location and she had exited the cab without paying. The officers went up the stairs to the building and were met by a witness who stated that he had heard banging and the sound of glass breaking and when he went to investigate he discovered a female in the foyer who was bleeding from her hand. Officers observed that the pane for the door was broken and there was glass and blood on the floor. Officers spoke with the female party and she will be summoned to court for malicious damage to the door. The cab driver declined to pursue the matter of the unpaid fare.

On March 30, as part of an ongoing Craigslist sting, a man was placed under arrest and charged with enticement of a child under the age of 16, annoying & accosting sexually, and dissemination of obscenity to minors.

Police Reports 3/27/2014

On March 27, officers ran a query of a vehicle traveling on Washington St. and discovered that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and the registered owner had a warrant in effect. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and confirmed the status of the warrant. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 27, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a fight in progress. A witness reported that a motorist had assaulted another motorist over a parking space. He stated that the assault included the suspect banging on the victim’s car, verbally harassing the victim, and physically harassing the victim. Officers spoke with the victim and other witnesses who confirmed the story. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault and battery (hands), assault and battery (shod foot), disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct.

On March 27, an officer was dispatched to a store on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of shoplifting that had just occurred. An employee stated that a man had entered the store, taken a jacket off the rack and placed it into a bag and then left. The matter is under investigation.

On March 27, an officer observed a vehicle travel through a red light at the intersection of Kent Street and Aspinwall Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended right to operate. The driver was cited for operating after suspension and failure to stop.

Police Reports 3/26/2014

On March 26, an officer observed a vehicle in the left turn only lane at the intersection of Harvard St. and Longwood Ave. drive straight and cut off another vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had a Massachusetts permit but no license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for a marked lanes violation and not being duly licensed.

On March 26, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. make an illegal U-turn onto Green Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and after approaching the vehicle could detect an odor of unburnt marijuana. The driver was found to have marijuana and he was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and a U-turn violation.

Police Reports 3/25/2014

On March 25, officers observed a vehicle backing up in the wrong direction on Beacon St. with its rear right tire going up over the curb. The officers conducted a traffic stop and were able to see a stun gun box in plain view behind the driver’s seat. The officers conducted a pat frisk and discovered a security tag remover and a stun gun on the driver. A search of the car revealed two more stun guns and tag removers and a bag of clothes. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Stun Gun, Taser; Receiving Stolen Property; and a One Way Violation.

On March 25, an officer observed a vehicle travel at a high rate of speed on Harvard St. and run through a red light at the intersection of Harvard Street and School Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed that the passenger was not wearing a seat belt. The officer looked up both parties and found that the passenger had a warrant in effect. The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with a seat belt violation and default warrant. The driver was written a citation for a red light violation and was sent on his way.

On March 25, an officer responded to Pleasant St. for a report of larceny. The resident reported that the building’s foyer was empty around 4pm but when she returned at 5pm a package that had been delivered for her husband was open and its contents had been removed. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 3/24/2014

On March 24, a woman came into the Police Station to report a past breaking and entering and larceny of a vehicle. The victim stated that on Saturday March 22, her car had been parked in the Centre Street Lot and when she returned to it later in the day, a backpack with several items inside was missing.

On March 24, an officer responded to Marion St. for a report of larceny by false pretenses. The victim stated that she had received a call earlier in the day from a party she had believed to be her grandson who stated that he was in jail. The woman then spoke to the man’s supposed attorney who said that the victim should transfer bail money through MoneyGram. It was found that this was part of a Phishing-type phone scam and the matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 3/21/2014 through 3/23/2014

On March 21, officers responded to Beacon St. for a report of a suspicious male yelling and hitting the bushes along buildings with a stick he was carrying. Officers located the male party on Beaconsfield Rd. and he was acting in a threatening manner. The man was placed under arrest for Disorderly Person and Threats.

On March 21, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Harvard St. and initiated a traffic stop. The officer discovered that the driver had a revoked license and they were placed under arrest.

On March 21, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. with an expired registration sticker. A check of the vehicle on the cruiser laptop indicated that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and the driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after revocation and expired registration.

On March 21, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Lee St. which revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver, who was not the registered owner, had an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 21, an officer was dispatched to Kent St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had had a purchase mailed to her and when she arrived home, the package was open inside of the building lobby and the contents were missing.

On March 21, an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle travelling on Chestnut Hill Ave. with an expired registration sticker. The officer found that the driver was operating with an expired license and the driver was placed under arrest and cited for not being duly licensed, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating after revocation, and failure to display proper registration.

On March 22, a call was put out by dispatch regarding a hit and run accident that had occurred on Longwood Avenue. Dispatch informed officers that Boston and State Police had a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved and officers responded to Centre St. in Boston. When speaking to the driver, officers observed that her speech was slurred, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, she was lethargic, and an odor of alcohol was emanating from her. The driver was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident/personal injury, and a marked lanes violation.

On March 22, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a speed greater than the posted 35 mph on West Roxbury Parkway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and issued a citation for speeding. At this time, the driver began revving his engine as he pulled into traffic before it was safe to do so, causing other vehicles to slam on their brakes. The vehicle nearly avoided hitting another car when turning onto Hammond Pond Parkway and the officer activated his lights again. The vehicle failed to stop as it fled from the officer and swerved around cars stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hammond Pond Parkway and Heath Street. The vehicle finally pulled over and the driver was placed under arrest and charged with failing to stop for a police officer, operating to endanger, speeding, failing to stop at a red light, passing on the right, and an unsafe lane change.

On March 22, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Commonwealth Ave. at a high rate of speed and cross the white dotted line. The officer initiated a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver observed slurred speech, glassy eyes, and an odor of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for speeding, failure to stay in marked lanes, and operating under the influence of liquor.

On March 23, officers responded to Winthrop Rd. for a report of motorist hitting a telephone pole and attempting to flee the scene. Officers spoke to the driver and observed that he was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. An officer observed a pocket knife in the man’s back pocket and conducted a pat frisk for officer safety. The officer found multiple small bottles of alcohol on the man. The man was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor; operating to endanger, driving on the sidewalk; operating to endanger, operating while intoxicated; leaving the scene of property damage/traffic crash; and open container of alcohol.

On March 23, an officer observed a vehicle turn from Harvard St. to Beacon St. where signs were posted indicating that no left turn was allowed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

Police Reports 3/20/2014

In the early morning of March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Washington St. with a defective headlight. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed the driver acting nervous and agitated. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was cited for possession of less than one ounce and for a defective headlight.

On March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travel through the stop sign at Newton St. and Goddard Ave. without stopping. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver did not have a license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for not being duly licensed and the stop sign violation. The owner of the vehicle was issued a citation for allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

On March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Washington St. with a rejected inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A check of the vehicle and the driver revealed that the vehicle status was revoked, the driver’s license was suspended, and the driver had a warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to inspect the motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, and operating after suspension.

Police Reports 3/19/2014

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle cut across two lanes of traffic on Beacon St. without using a turn signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop and when approaching the vehicle detected an odor of fresh marijuana. While speaking to the operator, the officer observed nervous and fidgety behavior. Officers found the driver to be in possession of marijuana, prescription drugs and pills without a prescription, multiple cell phones, and cash. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for a marked lanes violation, no directional while turning, and possession of class B with intent to distribute. The driver was also given a citation for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana.

On March 19, dispatch gave out information on a shoplifting that had just occurred at a store on Beacon Street. An officer observed the vehicle that the suspect got into driving on Harvard Ave. and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The passenger matched the description of the suspect and was placed under arrest for larceny. The stolen merchandise was found in her purse and jacket. The driver was cited for no inspection sticker and no license in possession and was sent on her way.

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at Dean Road and Druce Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver was not duly licensed. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and not being duly licensed.

On March 19, an officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that when she returned home from a walk with her daughter, she had left their stroller at the foot of the residence’s stairs close to the sidewalk. When the woman returned later for the stroller, it was gone. The matter is under investigation.

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the middle lane of Beacon St. turn left across the trolley tracks onto Washington St. while a vehicle waited in the left turn lane with a red arrow. The officer signaled for the driver to pull over and found that the driver was operating with an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed.

On March 18, an officer was dispatched to a residential building on Boylston St. to take a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had had a package stolen from the building foyer. The man stated that UPS told him the package had been delivered yet he never received it. The matter is under investigation.

On March 18, an officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of past shoplifting. The store owner stated that on March 9 and 10th a female entered the store and used a plastic container to steal frozen yogurt from a machine. The matter is being investigated.

On March 16, an officer was dispatched to Winchester St. and Atherton Rd. for a motor vehicle crash. The officer observed a vehicle that had driven up Atherton Rd. the wrong way and appeared to have hit a tree. At the scene, a witness reported seeing the vehicle hit his cousin’s car, drive off and hit a tree. The officer spoke to the driver who appeared unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him. The driver was placed under arrest and charged for operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and a one-way violation.

On March 12, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Clinton Road and Penniman Road. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and discovered that the driver had an outstanding warrant. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for the stop sign violation.

On March 10, an officer was dispatched to Park St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she had parked on Park St. and had returned to her vehicle approximately an hour later at which time she discovered that her front passenger window was shattered and her purse and iPad were missing. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 3/7/2014 through 3/9/2014

On March 7, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Upland Rd. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle in his driveway the evening before and had left it unlocked. When the man went to retrieve his laptop bag from the car a little after midnight, the man found that the laptop bag and its contents were missing and items in the car had been rifled through. The matter is under investigation.

On March 7, officers observed a vehicle traveling on Harvard St. change lanes abruptly and cut off another vehicle without signaling. The vehicle proceeded to slow down to approximately 5mph which due to the flow of traffic was an unsafe speed. The officers initiated a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver they observed red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to use a turn signal.

On March 7, an officer was dispatched to Manchester Rd. for a scam report. The victim stated that she had received a call that she believed to be from her grandson who said he had been arrested in Mexico and needed bail money. The grandson said that she would receive a call from an attorney about wiring the money to him. The woman received the call from the attorney and sent money by wire. The next morning the victim spoke to her grandson who stated that he hadn’t been in Mexico or arrested. The matter is under investigation.

On March 8, an officer observed a vehicle travel through a red light at the intersection of Kent Street and Longwood Avenue. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and spoke to both the driver and the passenger. The officer observed that the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and glossy, her speech was slurred, and she smelled of alcohol. Officers also detected an odor of marijuana and found that more than one ounce of marijuana was in the car. Both the driver and passenger were charged with Possession Class D with Intent to Distribute and the driver was also cited for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to stop (red light).

On March 8, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver’s license was revoked and he had an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 8, an officer responded to Perry St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had a package shipped to her, the Postal Service confirmed delivery, yet she never received the package. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. at a high rate of speed and making illegal lane changes. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for speeding, marked lanes violation, and operating after suspension.

On March 9, officers went to a residence on Chestnut St. for two active warrants for a suspect. The officers placed the man under arrest for the warrants.

On March 9, an officer responded to Cypress St. for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that his portable LCD player was taken from the trunk of his rental car. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, an officer was dispatched to a restaurant on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had placed her laptop on a table and then joined her friend at another table for approximately 30 minutes. When the victim returned to her table, the laptop was gone. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, a man came into the Brookline Police station to report that his car had been stolen. The man stated that his car had been parked on Harvard St. and when he returned the next day, it was gone. The matter is being investigated.

Police Reports 3/6/2014

On March 6, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling in the area of Boylston St. and Reservoir Road. The search indicated a possible warrant hit for the vehicle’s registered owner so the officer initiated a traffic stop. Dispatch confirmed that the driver had two active warrants in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On March 6, a woman came into the Brookline Police Station to report a larceny from Ashville Road. The woman stated that she had placed an order online and UPS tracking indicated the package had been delivered, yet the woman reported never receiving the package. The matter is under investigation.

On the night of March 6, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. without headlights on. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and while speaking with the driver, he observed an odor of marijuana. The officer ran a search on the driver and the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver did not have a license in Massachusetts and his license from New York was revoked. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to display headlights and not being duly licensed. The passenger had two arrest warrants in effect. The passenger was placed under arrest and cited for failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On March 5, an officer was dispatched to Sewall Ave. for a report of suspicious emails. The victim stated that she received an email she had believed to be from her son, the email address was off by one letter, asking for a favor. When she asked what the favor was, she received an email back asking for money to be wired to an account. The emails were found to be a scam and the matter is under investigation.

On March 5, a man came to the Brookline Police Station to report a past breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The man stated that on Monday March 3, he parked his vehicle on Pond Ave. with his iPod charging inside. When he returned to the vehicle an hour later, the iPod was gone. No other items were taken.

On March 5, an officer was dispatched to Toxteth St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that a laptop had been shipped to him and tracking information said that it had been delivered the day before. The man reported never receiving the package.

Police Reports 3/4/2014

On March 4, officers traveled to Thatcher St. to carry out an arrest warrant. The suspect was placed under arrest and a search yielded cash, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. The suspect is being charged with Possession of Class A with Intent to Distribute.

On March 4, an officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a reported money scam by phone. The owner of the business stated that an employee received a call from an individual, claiming to be from NSTAR, who stated the power would be disconnected to the business. Later in the day, the owner received a call from the same individual who said the business needed to make an immediate payment or the power would be shut off. The matter is under investigation.

On March 4, an officer monitoring the speed of motor vehicles on Allandale Rd. observed a vehicle travelling at a speed in excess of the posted 30mph. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and speeding.

On March 4, an officer responded to the area of Boylston St. at High St. for a call involving erratic operation of a vehicle. The officer observed a vehicle driving with its tires touching the solid yellow line and initiated a motor vehicle stop. While talking to the driver, the officer observed that her speech was slurred, eyes were glassy, and there was a substance appearing to be vomit on her right leg and lap area. The driver was placed under arrest and charged for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to stay entirely within marked lanes.

On March 4, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for a minor traffic offense. Later in the day, officers observed the same vehicle exhibiting suspicious behavior, pulling into various alley ways near St. Paul Street and Egmont Street. Officers approached the vehicle on foot and spoke to the driver and passenger. The officers observed balloons scattered around the interior of the car, a large blue nitrous tank on the passenger side floor, and a marijuana pipe. Both the driver and passenger were placed under arrest for Inhaling a Toxic Substance.

On March 3, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. pull into a metered space at the corner of Harvard and Beals Streets. The vehicle then backed onto Beals St. facing the wrong direction on a posted one way street and exited the street driving in the wrong direction. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, one way violation, unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, and attaching plates.

On March 3, an officer was dispatched to Thatcher St. for a report of theft. The victim stated that when she arrived home from work, a package that had been delivered for her was already opened and the contents were missing. The matter is under investigation.

On February 28, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The search revealed that the vehicle had a failed inspection sticker and the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the status of the driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 28, an officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop for a red light on Harvard Street. The driver was found to be operating without a license and was placed under arrest.

On February 28, dispatch broadcasted a report of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had just occurred on Boylston Street. One suspect had fled onto Boylston St. in a vehicle and the other suspect was being chased on Boylston by the victim and two witnesses on foot. The victim reported seeing a vehicle pull up next to his van with two people inside and then seeing one of the suspects inside of his van. When approached, both suspects fled the scene. An officer observed a man matching the description of one of the suspects hiding on Heath Hill. Detectives apprehended the man and placed him under arrest. The man is charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

On February 28, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Elba St. for a report of annoying phone calls. The residents reported receiving multiple calls from an unknown party who demanded that they owed money and needed to pay. The matter is being investigated.

On March 1, an officer responded to Salisbury Rd. for a report of erratic operation of a motor vehicle. It had been reported that a vehicle had left a residence on Salisbury Rd., struck a snow bank, struck a tree, and then continued driving. The officer located a vehicle matching the description and spoke with the driver. While speaking with the man, the officer observed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils, and an odor of alcohol. The man was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of drugs, and leaving the scene of an accident/property damage.

On March 2, officers ran a query of a vehicle travelling on Washington St. which revealed that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and a revoked registration status. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had an active warrant in effect and her right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The woman was placed under arrest for the warrant and was cited for revoked insurance, revoked registration, unregistered motor vehicle, operating after suspension, and expired inspection.

On March 2, officers responded to a store Harvard St. for a report of an assault and battery. Officers spoke to both parties, neither of whom wanted to press charges. Officers found that one of the parties had an active warrant in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On March 2, an officer observed a vehicle make a left turn on Beacon St. where left turns were prohibited. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and a left turn violation.

On February 27, an officer responded to a store on Beacon St. for a report of a shoplifter. The manager reported that a man had entered the store, removed an item from its security cord and left with the item. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 27, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on West Roxbury Parkway at a speed greater than the posted 35mph. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver did not have a license but did have an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for speeding, not being duly licensed, and having an active warrant.

On February 27, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Sumner Rd. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny of property. The home owner reported that while at work, someone broke into her home. The victim reported that cash and items were taken from the house. An investigation is being conducted.

On February 26, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Boylston Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was cited and placed under arrest.

On February 26, an officer ran a random query on a vehicle travelling on Heath Street. The query revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the status of the driver’s license. The driver was cited and placed under arrest for operating after suspension.

On the evening of February 26, an officer observed a vehicle in the lower parking lot of Larz Anderson Park despite the park being closed to the public after dark. The vehicle began traveling on Goddard Ave. and the officer observed that the passenger side brake light was not illuminating. The officer conducted a traffic stop and requested identification for both the driver and the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt. A query of the passenger revealed that he had an outstanding warrant and he was placed under arrest. The driver was cited for defective equipment and sent on her way. During an inventory of the passenger’s property, police found cocaine and a stolen credit card. The passenger is being charged with possession of a stolen credit card, possession of a controlled substance Class B, the arrest warrant, and the seatbelt violation.

On February 26, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The query revealed that the status of the vehicle was revoked due to it being uninsured. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and confirmed the status of the vehicle. The driver was cited for uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, and operating after revocation of registration and the car was towed.

On February 25, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Beacon Street. The query showed that the registered owner of the vehicle had an active warrant so the officer initiated a traffic stop. The warrant was confirmed and the man was placed under arrest. During an inventory of the man’s car, officers found cash, a cell phone, and marijuana. The man is also being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class D, with Intent to Distribute.

On February 25, officers were dispatched to Dudley St. for a report of a subject who had entered a home and left when confronted by the resident.  Officers located a man matching the description given by the caller in a nearby parking lot. The man was placed under arrest for breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony.

On February 25, an officer responded to Singletree Rd. for a report of someone entering locked vehicles. Witnesses reported seeing a man enter two separate vehicles before leaving the scene in a different car. The owner of one of the cars reported credit cards being taken from inside the car. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 25, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of Beacon Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A search into the driver revealed that they did not have a driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed.

On February 25, a store manager approached an officer in regard to a suspicious person that had just left their store on Harvard Street. The manager reported seeing a man in the store who had intended to steal store merchandise. The officer observed a male matching the suspect’s description farther down Harvard Street. Officers found the man in possession of stolen merchandise. The man was placed under arrest for shoplifting as well as an active warrant.

On February 25, an officer observed a vehicle travel through the intersection of Newton St. and Goddard Ave. without stopping for the stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating without a license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for unlicensed operation and failure to stop for a stop sign.

On February 25, an officer responded to a residential building on Beacon St. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny. A resident reported arriving home and finding several items displaced throughout the apartment. The resident and her roommate both reported several items missing from the apartment. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 24, officers responded to a residence on Orchard Rd. with multiple arrest warrants for two parties. Once entry to the residence was achieved, police searched the residence and located the two parties. Both were placed under arrest for their respective warrants and one was also charged with resisting arrest.

On February 24, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop and a check into the driver showed that he had a straight warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 24, an officer observed an expired inspection sticker on a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and expired inspection sticker.

On February 24, an officer ran a query of a vehicle travelling on Commonwealth Avenue. The search showed that the registered owner had an expired license. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and observed nervous behavior from the driver. The driver was removed from the vehicle and found in possession of heroin. The man was placed under arrest and charged with possession of Class A heroin.

On February 21, an officer observed a vehicle roll through a stop sign at the intersection of Pearl St. and Brookline Ave. without coming to a complete stop. The officer initiated a traffic stop. During his interaction with the driver, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicles interior and found the driver in possession of marijuana. The driver was cited for a stop sign violation and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On February 21, an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal U-turn on Harvard Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had an active warrant. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrant and cited for the illegal U-turn.

On February 21, an officer was dispatched to a store on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The manager stated that a customer had approached her and pointed out a male who was taking items off of the shelves and placing them in his pockets. The manager also observed the male taking items and confronted him. The suspect rushed out of the store and the matter is currently under investigation.

On February 21, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Manchester Rd. for a report of larceny.
A resident reported that she had had two packages delivered that morning but when she went back to retrieve them a few hours later, they were gone.

On February 21, officers responded to a residence on Sherrin Rd. for a report of burglary. Residents reported that their house had been broken into and jewelry was stolen from the bedroom. The matter is being investigated.

On February 22, officers responded to Dale St. for an attempted burglary. The resident stated she was woken by her home alarm going off and informed it was triggered by the basement door. The woman found the door to be ajar and the glass on the top portion of the door was broken. Officers observed footprints in the snow leading towards the door. The matter is under investigation.

On February 22, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Beacon St. with no front license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and failure to display 2 red letter plates.

On February 22, officers responded to Beacon St. for a traffic crash. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle that had rear ended another vehicle, officers observed glassy eyes and an odor of liquor. Tire marks leading up to where the accident occurred indicate that the driver was operating at a speed in excess of the posted 30mph. The driver was taken into police custody and was cited for speeding, following too closely, and operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

On February 23, officers ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The query revealed that the vehicle had a failed inspection sticker and the officers conducted a motor vehicle stop. It was found that the driver had an active arrest warrant and he was placed under arrest. The officers observed an odor of marijuana and found the driver to be in possession. The driver was cited for failure to inspect a motor vehicle, no license in possession, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On February 20, an officer came to a stop at a red light on Harvard St. behind three vehicles. The vehicle directly in front of the officer was very loud while idling as if there was a problem with the muffler. When the light turned green, the vehicle accelerated and the muffler became louder than reasonable. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after license suspension and defective equipment (muffler).

On February 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Beverly Rd. displaying a commercial license plate but no commercial owner markings on the sides of the vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been revoked. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 20, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The officer was alerted of a possible warrant match for the registered owner of the vehicle and they conducted a motor vehicle stop. Dispatch confirmed that the driver had an active warrant in effect and the driver was placed under arrest.

On February 19, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with a defective brake light and an inspection sticker that failed safety standards. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and cited for operating a vehicle that had failed safety standards and having a defective brake light.

On February 19, an officer was dispatched to a gym on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that while working out he had placed his backpack into a locker but had left it unlocked. When he returned from his workout the man stated that his MacBook had been taken from his backpack. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 19, an officer responded to a residential building on Summit Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that he had ordered multiple items to be delivered by UPS. On Monday, all of the packages had been reported as having been delivered however the man had been out of town. When he returned home, the man found that one of the packages was missing. The matter is being investigated.

On February 19, an officer was dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The store manager reported seeing a man enter the store, cut the security cable to a pair of headphones, place the headphones under his jacket and leave. The incident is being investigated.

On February 18, an officer observed a vehicle on West Roxbury Parkway travel at a high rate of speed. The vehicle moved into the right lane to pass another car and almost hit a jogger, swerving back into the left lane and causing the other car to slam on their brakes to avoid being hit. The officer initiated a traffic stop and a license check showed that the driver only had a permit to operate in Massachusetts. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed as well as cited for unsafe lane change and speeding. The owner of the car was mailed a citation for allowing an unlicensed person to operate a motor vehicle.

On February 18, an officer was dispatched to the area of Boylston and Sumner Rd. for a check of well-being of a male party. The officer observed the man attempting to hitchhike on Boylston St. The officer informed the man that hitchhiking is illegal and had dispatch run an inquiry of the man. The search showed that the man had an active arrest warrant and he was placed under arrest.

On February 14, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Beacon St. stop in the left lane and block the flow of traffic. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop. During the stop, the officer observed the driver’s speech to be slurred, eyes glassy and bloodshot, and an odor of alcohol. The driver was found to have a suspended license and was placed under arrest for operating while intoxicated. The driver was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle after license suspension, and impeding the free flow of traffic.

On February 14, an officer was dispatched to a restaurant on Cypress St. for a report of breaking and entering. The owner reported that when an employee had entered the business that morning they had discovered the rear door open and cash missing from the register. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 14, officers observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. drive straight in a marked right turn only travel lane. The officers conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to have a revoked license and two active warrants. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after revocation, marked lanes violation, and default warrants.

On 2/15/14 a student at Pine Manor College wanted to report his Nintendo 3DS XL; Pokemon X+Y Limited Edition missing, he last saw it on 2/4/14 at approximately 2345 hours. He was playing with it and left it on a couch in the common area.  A report was filed with Campus Security as well.

On 2/15/14 Officers responded to a store on Harvard St. for a report of 2 adult shoplifters without identification.  Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the loss prevention officer for the store, while a male subject and female subject sat in the office. The female was observed removing a price tag from a belt then handing it to the male, where the male attached the belt around his waist. The male then took a second belt and attached it around his waist, with both belts secured, the male then placed his shirt overtop the belts and followed the female out of the store without paying for the items. It was discovered that the subjects had taken several other items as well. After speaking with the subjects it was apparent that both the male subject and female subject were willfully misleading Officers from obtaining their proper identifying information during the course of our investigation, at which point they were handcuffed and placed under arrest for the following charges: M.G.L.c.266/30A LARCENY UNDER $250.00 (SHOPLIFTING)M.G.L.c.268/13B INTERFERENCE & OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE

On 2/15/14 Brookline Police received a call regarding an Apple iPhone 5 that was stolen out of the Brookhouse laundry room. The caller was in the laundry room at approximately 8:30AM and had his phone. He returned to his apartment shortly after, and at approximately 9:45AM he realized he did not have his phone. He returned to the laundry, but was unable to locate the phone. The owner was able to track the phone to a Stop & Shop located at 99 Charles St in Malden. The phone was turned into the Stop and Shop and our Detectives will conduct a follow-up.

On 02/16/14 a Brookline Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Allendale Rd. when he observed a vehicle that appeared to be travelling in excess of the posted 30 MPH. Using the Radar gun, the Officer confirmed that the vehicles speed was 47 MPH.  A traffic stop was conducted and it was found that the operator’s right to operate was suspended.  She was placed under arrest.

On February 17, officers responded to a residential complex on University Rd. for a glass break. Officers observed a broken window in the back hallway of the second floor and broken glass on the sill and outside the window, on the roof. There were footprints in the snow on the roof that lead from the window down the fire escape. Officers stopped and apprehended a male located on the steps of a neighboring building. The man was placed under arrest for malicious damage of property.

On February 17, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Hammond Pond Parkway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a default warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest for the active warrant and cited for speeding.

From 2/13/2014 to 2/17/2014, six arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct. Three of these arrests came from an investigation into the exchange of sex for drugs and three came from an investigation into sexual predators.

On February 13, an officer was dispatched to the area of Saint Paul St. and Freeman St. for a report of a traffic crash. When conducting a Registry of Motor Vehicles check, it was discovered that one of the drivers had a revoked license. After the officer assisted the two parties in exchanging information, the driver with the revoked license was placed under arrest.

On February 13, an officer was dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of suspicious activity. A security guard reported that two men had entered the business and started asking suspicious questions before leaving. The matter is under investigation.

On February 12, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. with an expired inspection sticker. A check of the registration with the officer’s in-car computer confirmed it was expired and showed that the owner of the vehicle had an active warrant. The driver was stopped and placed under arrest for the warrant and cited for the expired inspection sticker.

On February 12, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. A store employee reported seeing a woman take several small items and place them into her handbag. The woman was cited for shoplifting and will be summoned to court.

On February 12, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. fail to stop at a red light at Lee Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and ran a license check on the driver. The search showed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and a red light violation.

On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle make a right turn onto Harvard St. from the middle lane of Beacon Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was only in possession of a learners permit and a search showed that the registration on the vehicle had been suspended. While speaking with the driver, the officer identified an odor of marijuana and found the driver in possession of less than one ounce. The driver was cited and will be summoned to court for not being duly licensed, operating after suspended registration, and making an improper turn. The driver was given a by-law citation for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and the vehicle was towed.

On February 11, dispatch received a call from a business on Beacon St. who wanted to report an incident of shoplifting. An employee of the store reported witnessing a man take an item and place it into a shopping bag he was carrying and leave the store. The matter is under investigation.

On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. stuck in the intersection of Harvard St. and School Street. The vehicle was blocking traffic from School Street. Once free from the intersection, the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop. A search by the officer and confirmation from dispatch showed that the driver did not have an active license. The driver was cited with not being duly licensed and blocking an intersection and was placed under arrest.

On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle driving over the speed limit on Allandale Rd. and initiated a traffic stop. The officer found that the driver’s license was expired and the driver had failed to report a change of address to the Motor Vehicle Registry. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating with an expired license, failure to notify the registry of change of address, and speeding.

On February 10, an officer responded to a business in Coolidge Corner for a report of a shoplifter who had fled the store. An employee reported seeing a woman place merchandise into the bags she was carrying and flee without paying.

On February 7, an officer carried out a random query of a vehicle traveling on St. Paul Street. The query showed that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and the owner had a default warrant in effect. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver was placed under arrest.

On February 7, an officer responded to a business on Washington St. for a report of suspicious activity. An employee stated that they received two calls from a man claiming to be an NStar employee who said they were behind on their payments. It was confirmed that these calls were part of a scam.

On February 8, an officer responded to University Rd. for a report of a suspicious phone call. A man stated that he had received a voicemail on his phone from someone claiming to be from the IRS who said the man owed back taxes and needed to get in contact with him right away. It is believed that this call is part of a scam.

On February 8, an officer observed a man enter a store on Harvard St. and leave with two full bags that did not match the store exited. Officers observed the man place the bags into a car and re-enter the store with an empty bag. Employees confirmed that the merchandise had not been paid for and the man was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

On February 8, an officer entered the registration of a vehicle traveling on Washington St. into their in-car computer. The search showed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a default arrest warrant in effect so the officer initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer was able to detect an odor of marijuana and found the driver to be in possession of less than one ounce. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrant and cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On February 9, an officer was dispatched to Kent St. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. A woman stated that she had left her car unlocked while inside her home for a couple of hours and when she re-entered the vehicle it had been rifled through and items were missing. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 6, a man came into the Police Station to report a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The man stated that while his car was parked unlocked on Commonwealth Avenue, cash and a debit card were stolen. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 6, a woman reported that she had been the victim of fraud. The woman stated that someone had hacked into her email account and sent a message to all of her contacts asking for money. The email said the woman was stuck out of town with no belongings and needed people to send Money-Grams.

On February 6, officers were dispatched to a store on Harvard St. for a shoplifter being held in the office. An employee stated that a man was seen taking items and attempting to leave without paying. The man was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles and glassine bags. The suspect was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

On February 4, officers observed a vehicle straddling the white lane line on Washington Street. The officers initiated a motor vehicle stop and upon approach to the vehicle could detect an odor of marijuana. The passenger was found to have marijuana as well as an electronic scale. The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, Class D and the driver was cited for failing to drive within a marked lane.

On February 4, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. make an unsafe lane change. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for passing unsafely and operating with an expired license.

On February 4, officers were dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. The store manager had observed a man place an item into a bag and leave without paying. Officers located the suspect in the rear parking lot and he will be summoned to Brookline District Court for shoplifting.

On February 4, detectives observed a vehicle park in a posted No Parking/Loading Zone on Beacon Street. After the parking infraction was observed, the detectives initiated a traffic stop. The passenger of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and was shifting in her seat causing the detectives to have a B.O.P. and warrant check. The search showed that the woman had a default warrant and she was placed under arrest.

On February 5, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Washington Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the status of the operator’s license to be revoked/non-renewable. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and speeding.

On February 3, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. with its driver’s side headlight not illuminated. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver was placed under arrest and cited for not being duly licensed and defective equipment.

On February 3, an officer responded to a bank on Beacon St. for a report of someone attempting to pass a forged check. A teller reported that a woman tried to cash a check and when the teller said she would need to review it with the manager, the woman fled. Investigation showed that the check in question had not been issued yet. The woman was located at another bank and placed under arrest for forgery and uttering.

On January 31, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The manager reported that a woman entered the store and placed an item into her bag before leaving without paying. The matter is currently being investigated.

On February 1, an officer observed a vehicle stopped at the intersection of Washington and Boylston Streets with their parking lights on but headlights off. The vehicle began to inch into the intersection and the officer began to follow the vehicle once the light turned green. The vehicle failed to stay between the white lines separating lanes and the officer initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a smell of liquor and the driver’s eyes to be glassy and speech to be slurred. The driver was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, operating without headlights, and marked lanes violation.

On February 1, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating a vehicle with a revoked registration as well as having a revoked driver’s license.  The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 2, officers responded to Thatcher St. for an attempted robbery. A woman reported that while walking, a man had come up behind her and grabbed her in a bear hug. When she began to scream, the man hit the left side of her face. The man released the victim and fled on foot before getting into a vehicle and driving away. The matter is currently under investigation.

On January 30, officers observed a vehicle speeding and changing lanes without signaling in an intersection on Beacon Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and could detect a strong odor of alcohol from the driver who also had red and glassy eyes. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, and failure to use a turn signal.

On January 30, an officer observed a vehicle turn right on red from Cypress St. to Boylston St. where a “No Turn on Red” sign is posted. The officer also noticed that the vehicle’s right rear taillight did not illuminate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and a query showed that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked and the operator’s license had been suspended. The driver was cited for operating after license suspension, operating an uninsured vehicle, unregistered vehicle, right turn on red prohibited by sign, and defective taillight.

On January 30, a woman came to the police station to report a larceny. The woman stated that a package that was delivered to her home had been stolen. The tracking number confirmed that the package had been delivered however the woman never received it.

On January 30, an officer responded to Prescott St. for a report of larceny. The victim reported that while using a fitness facility, he had left his wallet and keys in an unlocked locker and subsequently gone home. Once he realized he had left them, the man returned to find his keys but his wallet was missing.

On January 29, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Washington St. that had failed inspection. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and it was found that the operator’s license had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and failure to submit motor vehicle for inspection.

On January 29, an officer conducted a random query of a vehicle travelling on Washington Street. The query showed that the registered owner had a suspended license so the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer confirmed that the driver had a suspended license and they were placed under arrest.

On January 29, an officer was approached by civilian who wanted to report a hit and run accident they had just had in Boston. The officer broadcasted information about the vehicle and it was spotted travelling on Boylston Street near Hammond Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which kept driving to avoid the police. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot and the suspect fled on foot. Officers caught the suspect and placed him under arrest. He was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating after suspension, marked lanes violation, speeding, and resisting arrest. The motor vehicle accident is being investigated by the State Police.

On January 29, officers responded to a bank on Harvard St. that had activated their alarm for a robbery. A bank teller stated that a man had approached her, handed her a note, and left. The matter is currently under investigation.

One of the residents reported that when he had arrived home from work, the exterior door to the building was locked but his apartment door was unlocked. On January 27, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Babcock and Freeman Streets. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver’s license to be expired. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for expired license and a stop sign violation.

On January 27, officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. Employees had seen the suspect walking through the store with a full bag of groceries and attempt to leave through the rear entrance without paying. The suspect was stopped by an employee and he was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

On January 27, an officer responded to a residential complex on Kent St. for a report of larceny. A man stated that on January 24, he had seen a package for himself in the front of the building but when he returned later in the day to retrieve it, the package had been ripped open. This incident is currently being investigated.

On January 27, officers responded to a residence on Homer St. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny. The residents reported that one bedroom had been ransacked and multiple items were missing. The matter is currently under investigation.

On January 27, an officer responded to Beacon St. for a report of malicious damage. A man reported that while at work, someone had thrown a beer bottle at his vehicle, shattering the rear window.

On January 23, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Boylston St. and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, an odor of fresh marijuana was detected. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Possession of a Class D with Intent to Distribute.
On January 23, a man reported receiving a call from K-Mart in regards to a purchase he did not make. The man reported that a cappuccino maker was purchased using his account despite still having the card in his possession. This matter is currently being investigated.
On January 23, a woman reported being the victim of fraud. The woman reported that she received a letter from her insurance provider in regards to approval for recent medications. When she contacted the insurance company, she was told that someone was using her information to pick-up prescriptions in various pharmacies.

On January 24, an officer observed a vehicle driving on Longwood Ave. with an expired inspection sticker and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be operating with a suspended license and was also cited for failure to submit motor vehicle for inspection, no registration in possession or easily accessible, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest.

On January 24, an officer was dispatched to Aspinwall Ave. for a larceny report. A woman stated that two large trash bins were stolen from the curb the day before.

On January 24, officers were dispatched to Harvard St. & Longwood Ave. for a report of malicious damage. A woman stated that when traveling on Harvard St. she began to make a left turn but had to quickly stop for a pedestrian. The pedestrian then kicked the woman’s driver’s side view mirror and walked away.
On January 25, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Beacon St. take a right on a red light. A query of the vehicle showed that the registered owner had a suspended license and the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and failure to stop at a red light.

On January 25, a woman reported a suspicious phone call to a business on Brookline Avenue. An employee stated that she had received a call from a man identifying himself as being from NStar disconnect. The man stated that a payment was needed right away or the electricity would be shut off. The employee said she would have to speak to her supervisor and ended the call. The caller was unable to be reached.
On January 25, an employee at a business on Cypress St. received a suspicious phone call. The man reported a call from someone claiming to be from NStar who said the business had an outstanding bill and a payment needed to be made. The employee terminated the call and contacted the police. The police contacted the caller and were able to confirm that the call was a scam.

On January 25, a woman reported receiving a suspicious phone call. The woman stated that she received a call from an unidentified male who said the woman’s brother was being held against his will. The man said that she needed to pay him or he would kill her brother. Refusing to give more information, the caller hung up and never called back.

On January 26, while monitoring traffic at the intersection of Beacon St. and Washington St., officers smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana. The officers approached two males who appeared to be smoking and asked for identification. One of the males fled, was found, and was taken into custody. Both males were issued citations for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
On January 26, officers were dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for an alarm. Officers found the doors open and a male lying on the floor. The man appeared lethargic and unsure of his previous whereabouts. A search of the man and his backpack yielded drug paraphernalia, marijuana, prescription pills, and mail addressed to people other than the suspect. The male was placed under arrest for Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Felony, possession of a Class E drug, possession of a Class A drug, and receiving stolen property. The suspect was also issued a citation for marijuana possession.

On January 26, a woman reported her debit card number had been stolen. The woman’s card had been put on hold after two suspicious charges that the woman had not made. This matter is currently under investigation.
On January 26, an officer reported to Harvard St. for a report of larceny. A woman stated that while sitting in a restaurant, her purse had been stolen. The police were able to track the woman’s cell phone and find her purse in a trash barrel. The only thing that appeared to be missing was cash.

On January 26, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a larceny report. A man had been seen in a store placing items into two shopping bags. When the suspect moved towards the exit without paying, he was stopped by an employee. The suspect put the bags on the floor and left. A man matching the suspect’s description was located on a bus and taken into custody for shoplifting.
On January 26, officers were dispatched to Netherlands Rd. at Aspinwall Ave. for a report of a vehicle driving into the park. Officers approached the vehicle and shouted instructions to the operator to stop. The operator failed to comply and an officer opened the passenger side door and forced the vehicle into park. The driver was uncooperative and smelled strongly of liquor and he was placed in handcuffs once outside of the vehicle. Leaning against a police unit, the suspect began to kick officers and was placed in leg shackles. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with violation of one way, operating to endanger, reckless destruction of property, leaving the scene of property damage, failure to stop for police officer, operating under the influence of alcohol, trespassing, and assault and battery on a police officer.

On January 21, a woman came to the Brookline Police Department to report an incident of assault and battery. The woman stated that she had been walking on Washington St. when a bicyclist was traveling towards her on the sidewalk. After informing the cyclist that he shouldn’t be riding on the sidewalk, he stopped in front of the woman and after arguing, threatened to punch her in the face. The cyclist threw the woman’s coffee into the street and the woman grabbed the bicycle to prevent the man from leaving. The bicyclist pushed the woman in the face and rode away.

On January 21, officers responded to the Trader Joe’s on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee reported seeing a woman place two items into a bag and hide them under her coat. The woman will be summoned to Brookline District Court for Shoplifting.

On January 21, police were dispatched to the Starbucks on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. It was reported that a man had removed money from the tip jar and fled.

On January 22, an officer queried a vehicle traveling on Beacon Street. The search revealed that the vehicle had a revoked registration and that the plates were registered to a black Dodge Durango while the vehicle was in fact a brown Chevy Malibu. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and dispatch confirmed the plate to be revoked. The driver was cited for revoked insurance, attaching plates, revoked registration, unregistered motor vehicle, and expired inspection.

On January 22, an officer was dispatched to Goddard Ave. for a report of a live breaking and entering. A man reported that someone had been opening his door when they heard the resident and ran, leaving the door ajar. The incident is under investigation.

On January 17, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Beacon St. and Washington St. for a car crash. Witnesses to the crash stated that a white vehicle had been speeding and ran a red light, hitting another vehicle. When speaking to the operator of the white vehicle, officers detected an odor of alcohol and slurred speech. The driver was taken into custody and is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, red light violation, speeding, and operating to endanger.

On January 17, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a traffic crash. One vehicle had collided with a second vehicle, pushing it onto a curb, over a street sign and into a street lamp. Officers spoke to the operator of the first vehicle and observed the driver to have glassy and bloodshot eyes and an odor of liquor. The driver was taken into custody and cited with operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, and a marked lanes violation.

On January 17, officers responded to the CVS on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee of the store had seen a man taking items from the shelves and placing them into his jacket and pants pockets. The suspect was located and taken into custody for shoplifting.

On January 17, an employee of a rental vehicle company reported a fleet vehicle stolen. It was reported that the vehicle was taken the day before from the rear of the rental building.

On January 17, an officer responded to an apartment building on Boylston St. for a report of larceny. The resident of one of the units reported that upon arrival back from his winter vacation, he noticed multiple items missing from his bedroom. The other resident of the unit reported that cash was stolen from the backpack in his bedroom.

On January 17, residents of an apartment on Kent St. reported an incident of vandalism. An officer reported to the scene and the residents showed that their front window’s exterior pane of glass had been broken.

On January 18, a woman reported that her specialized road bike had been stolen from her storage bin in a garage on Hammond Pond Parkway.

On January 19, officers responded to a parking lot behind a building on Washington St. A witness informed the officers that a pickup truck with a plow on the front had struck two parked vehicles on Washington St. and had left the scene. The officers spoke to the driver of the pickup truck and observed a knife clipped to his pants which officers secured for safety purposes. The knife was found to be double-sided and spring loaded causing it to be considered a per se dangerous weapon. The driver was placed under arrest and marijuana, cocaine and heroin were found on his person.

On January 20, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Harvard St. with an expired registration sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts was expired. The driver was issued a citation and his vehicle was towed.

On January 20, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Longwood Ave. for a report of counterfeit money being exchanged for an iPad mini. The resident had placed an ad on Craigslist to sell an iPad mini. Someone had responded to the ad and they had met and made the exchange, iPad for cash. The bills were not accepted at an ATM causing the man to report it to the police who observed the bills to be fake.

On January 20, an officer responded to an apartment on Beacon St. for a larceny report. A woman stated that upon flying back to Logan International Airport, her bag had not made the flight and she was told it would be delivered to her residence upon its arrival in Boston. Once the bag was delivered, the woman noticed that a Coach bag containing jewelry and her prescription medicine were missing.

On January 20, officers responded to a building on Boylston St. for a report of a masked man inside. A man was located in a stall in the women’s bathroom and was placed under arrest for trespassing.

On January 20, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Washington St. and passing through a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver could not provide his license or any form of ID. The officer ran the name and license number given by the driver and found that the picture did not resemble the driver. Once aware of the driver’s real name, a check with the RMV showed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with failure to stop at a red light, providing a false name/address, and operating after suspension.

In the early hours of January 16, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. who failed to dim their high beams with the approach of an oncoming vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was unable to provide his registration, license, or any identification. It was discovered that the driver had provided false information to the officer and a BOP query showed that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and an active straight warrant. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with failure to dim high beams to oncoming traffic, providing false name/DOB to police officers, and operating a MV after license suspension.

On January 16, an officer observed a vehicle on Sherrin Rd. that was running with its parking lights on. The two occupants appeared to be acting suspicious and when they exited the vehicle, the officer approached them and asked for their ID’s. During the interaction, the officer detected an odor of marijuana and nervous behavior. One of the men was found to be carrying marijuana and was cited for possessing less than 1 oz. of marijuana.

On January 16, an officer responded to a report of larceny at a building on Heath Street. A woman spoke to the officer and stated that a wallet had been stolen from a resident’s purse which she keeps in her living room. The same woman had reported her wallet stolen out of her room in December.

On January 16, officers responded to a home on Winslow Rd. for a report of a loud party. Officers spoke to two residents of the home who were underage and entered the home to investigate more underage drinking. Officers witnessed 50-70 people, 3 kegs of beer, multiple bottles of vodka, and a small baggy of marijuana all in plain sight. Both residents were issued Town By Law citations for violating the Town’s Nuisance Ordinance and will be charged with minor in possession of alcohol and disturbing the peace. One of the residents is being cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Police Reports 1/15/2014

On January 15, officers responded to a building on Freeman St. for a complaint of people smoking marijuana. Upon arrival, the smell of burnt marijuana was evident in the elevator and there was a haze of smoke in the hallway. When a resident came to the door, the officers were able to see multiple jars of a green leafy substance in plain sight. The officers entered the apartment and advised all four parties of their rights. The matter is currently under investigation.

On January 15, officers responded to an alarm from Blue Hills Bank on Beacon St. where a robbery had occurred. A man had entered the bank and approached one of the tellers at which point he pulled out a note and demanded money. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30’s with an average build. He wore large dark sunglasses, a dark tan coat, a hat covering his head and ears, and heavy gloves. On January 14, an officer was flagged down by a motorist who wanted to report an accident. The man stated that he had witnessed a vehicle driving on a traffic median and hitting a sign before driving off on Boylston St. The man had followed the vehicle to the Cleveland Circle and gave officers the license plate number. Officers verified the incident and got in contact with the driver.
On January 14, a vehicle making a left turn from Beacon St. to Marion St. hit a pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. The pedestrian refused assistance from the paramedics and was taken home and the driver was issued a citation for failure to stop for a pedestrian crosswalk.
On January 14, an officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident. The victim stated that as she crossed the crosswalk at Tappan St. and Blake Rd., a vehicle made contact with her right elbow. The operator of the car pulled over and tried to talk to the victim and then drove off when she didn’t answer. The victim sought medical care and the operator of the vehicle has not been located.

In the early hours of January 13 an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Boylston St. and initiated a traffic stop. An RMV check showed that the vehicle’s registration had been. The driver was cited for operating after revocation, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, and speeding.
On January 13, a woman reported a possible phone scam. The woman stated that she had been called by an unidentified individual who claimed that her brother had been in a car accident. The caller then asked for the brother’s personal information but when he was unable to give descriptive details about the brother, the woman hung up.
On January 13, a woman reported an incident of fraud. A business on Commonwealth Ave. had received a call from a NStar disconnect service stating that they owed money. Believing it was a scam, the woman hung up.
On January 13, a man received a call from an unidentified caller stating that his brother had been in an accident with the caller’s brother. The caller stated that they were holding the man’s brother hostage. Knowing the location of his brother, the man hung up.
On January 13, an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle lacking a current inspection sticker. Standing next to the vehicle, the officer could detect an odor of raw marijuana. It was found that the passenger had a small bag of marijuana on him. He was cited with possessing less than an ounce of marijuana and failing to use a seatbelt while the driver was cited for failing to submit vehicle for inspection.

In the early hours of January 10, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Boylston St. and initiated a traffic stop. Upon discovering that the operator’s license was suspended, the driver was taken into custody.

On January 10, a van was observed travelling through a stop sign at the intersection of Freeman and Babcock streets. An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and discovered the operator’s license to have been expired for several years. The driver was taken into custody and cited for failure to stop and operating without a license.

On January 10, a man came to the Brookline Police Department to report a case of fraud. Two weeks prior, the man had found a listing on Craigslist for a personal assistant and was hired by an unknown party over the phone. The man was mailed a check and told to deposit it into his personal account. He was then instructed to withdraw money for a donation to an unknown person and go to Walmart to purchase 2 MoneyPak cards and pass along the pins on the back to the unknown party. The man was sent another check which he tried to deposit and which caused him to learn that the first check had not been valid. The man was unsuccessful in reaching the unknown party and realized he had been the victim of a scam.

On January 10, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party told officers that he had attempted to stop the suspect as he left through the rear door and that the suspect had placed the items on the ground inside the store before leaving. The reporting party informed the officers of the suspect’s current location and they placed him under arrest for shoplifting. During the inventory search, officers found heroin on the suspect and also charged him with possession of a Class A drug.

On January 11, an officer traveling on Boylston St. observed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking to the operator, the officer observed that the driver had glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and there was a strong odor of alcohol. The driver handed over the vehicle registration and a Mass identification card. After looking up the driver, the officer found him to be driving with a revoked license and having a warrant for possession of burglarious instrument and larceny. The driver was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol.

On January 11, a vehicle was observed repeatedly crossing the double yellow lines on Chestnut Hill Ave. and was pulled over. Upon arrival at the vehicle, the officer observed the operator as having bloodshot and glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. The driver was taken into custody for operating under the influence of alcohol.

On January 11, officers responded to a restaurant on Beacon St. where an alarm was going off. Officers discovered that one of the front windows had been smashed and a brick was lying inside. Officers were unable to contact the business owner.

On January 11, a man reported that his jacket, phone, wallet, and keys had been stolen. The man stated that his possessions had been taken when he had left them on a fence while running up and down Summit Ave.

On January 11, a woman reported that her handicap placard was taken from her car while it was parked at the Centre St. parking lot.

On January 11, an officer was dispatched to the Panera Bread on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. The reporting party told the officer that he had placed his bag over the back of a chair before joining the line by the counter. Upon return to the table a few minutes later, the bag was gone. The messenger bag contained a laptop and iPad as well as some paperwork.

On January 12, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Harvard St. and failing to stop at a red light. The officer conducted a traffic stop. Once the officer approached the vehicle and the driver rolled down their window, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. A search of the vehicle yielded a large bag of marijuana and the driver was placed under arrest for speeding, red light violation, operating to endanger, school zone violation, and possession of a Class D with intent to distribute.

On January 12, an officer observed a vehicle on Beacon St. make an illegal left turn onto Washington St. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was operating with a suspended license and the driver was placed under arrest.

On January 12, officers arrived on Beacon St. for suspicious activity. The investigation led to arrests for possession of heroin, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and prostitution.
