LARCENY

Officers responded to a report of a stolen snow blower. The reporting party had dropped off a snow plow before the storm, but it was gone when they returned. 

SHOPLIFTING

Officers responded to a call of shoplifting at a store on Harvard Street where three suspects entered and stole merchandise.

January 26 through February 1, 2026

 

Monday, January 26

FIRE

Officers responded to a call of a strong odor of smoke emanating from a house on Thorndike Street. The smoke was determined to be from smoking joist beams under the floorboards. The smoke and damage was remedied. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Officers responded to a call of property damage that occurred to a motor vehicle in a parking lot on Amory Street. The damage appeared to have happened between 10:00pm on January  and 10:00am on January 26th. 

MALCIOUS DAMAGE 

Officers responded to a reported of malicious damage to the reporting parties vehicle. The incident occurred in a parking lot, and is now remedied. 

January 19 through January 25, 2026

Tuesday, January 20

SHOPLIFTING

Officers responded to a call of shoplifting that occurred on Harvard Street. Officers were able to identify and arrest the suspect as well as retrieve the stolen items. 

LOST PROPERTY

Officers were dispatched to a lost property report, where on Thursday, January 15th, around 2pm approximately, an individual lost their cell phone. 

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers took a report of a past package theft that occurred on January 10th, on Tappan Street. The packages were left in a unsecured vestibule and stolen, yet, one portion of the packages were recovered by officers the next day. 

ASSAULT

Officers responded to a call regarding an assault with a motor vehicle during a parking issue on Kent Street.

IDENTITY FRAUD

Officers responded to a call of identity fraud in which an individual was contacted via phone posing as foreign authorities and requesting identification leading to the scammer to gain sensitive personal information. 


IDENTITY FRAUD

Officers were approached about another report of identity fraud in which an individual received a false email about taking out a student loan. 

IDENTITY FRAUD

Officers responded to a report of identity fraud, where a separate credit account was opened under an individual's name which they did not authorize. 

FOUND PROPERTY

Officers received lost property found in the lobby of the Brookline Police Department, which included a piece of jewelry.

Officers responded to a report of a previously reported package theft that occurred on Centre Street.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to a package theft on Brook Street. 

CAR BREAK

Officers responded to a breaking and entering of an unlocked vehicle parked in the rear parking lot on Saint Paul Street. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A lost passport, found on the sidewalk near Boylston and Cypress Streets near the Mobil gas station, was turned over to officers at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department.

THEFT

Officers responded to a wallet theft at the 2nd Street Store on Harvard Street.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to a past package theft report at the apartment complex located on Centre Street.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to package theft from a vestibule on Egmont Street.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers were notified of a package theft at an apartment building on Washington Street.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to a call about a package theft at the apartment complex located on Winchester Street.

FRAUD

Officers took a report of an individual attempting to use bad checks to pay for goods. The perpetrator was summonsed to court.

SHOPLIFTING

Officers were called to Harvard St for a report of shoplifting.

December 15 through December 21, 2025

  

Monday, December 15

TRESPASSING

Officers responded to Beacon St for an unwanted person. The perpetrator was arrested.
