Tuesday, January 20

SHOPLIFTING

Officers responded to a call of shoplifting that occurred on Harvard Street. Officers were able to identify and arrest the suspect as well as retrieve the stolen items. 

LOST PROPERTY

Officers were dispatched to a lost property report, where on Thursday, January 15th, around 2pm approximately, an individual lost their cell phone. 

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers took a report of a past package theft that occurred on January 10th, on Tappan Street. The packages were left in a unsecured vestibule and stolen, yet, one portion of the packages were recovered by officers the next day. 

ASSAULT

Officers responded to a call regarding an assault with a motor vehicle during a parking issue on Kent Street. 

Wednesday, January 21

BURGLARY

Officers responded to a call reporting a past burglary of a commercial property on Harvard Street. 

FRAUD

Officers were called to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department about a report of fraud, in which an authorized and unknown individual opened a account in the victim's name. 

LOST PROPERTY

Officers took a report of lost property that occurred during at 1 Brookline Place, where a pair of earrings were lost between 10am and 12:30pm. 

Thursday, January 22

ANIMAL BITE

Officers received a report of a dog bite resulting from a scuffle at a dog park with another dog, that occurred on Sunday, January 18th. The dog was treated for his wounds.

GRAFFITI

Officers responded to a report of graffiti on the side of a business on Commonwealth Ave. 

GRAFFITI

Officers while on patrol observed two instances of unreported graffiti. The graffiti was observed on the side of a building on Parkman Street as well as a parking lot and an alleyway on Beacon Street. 

IDENTITY FRAUD

Officers stationed at the Brookline Police Department front desk received a report of identity fraud on an individual's credit card. A unknown suspect took the victim's information and ordered a new credit card without the victim's knowledge. 

MV THEFT

Officers responded to a call of motor vehicle theft. Days prior, on January 19th, the victim had asked friends to drop off their car at a relative's house, yet neither the car nor the keys made it to the relative. Officers have identified the suspect and retrieved the car. 

FRAUD

Officers were called to a case of identity and credit card fraud on Thursday evening. The victim stated they received an invoice from a debt collection agency related to a account the victim was unaware of. 

Friday, January 23

FOUND PROPERTY

Officers at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department received a report of found property; a MA license found on the ground on Chestnut Street. The license is currently safely kept at the police department. 

IDENTITY THEFT

Officers responded to a report of identity fraud where the reporting parties identity had been used to open a business. The reporting party had no knowledge of this until they received a tax return form for the business. 

CHECK FRAUD

Officers at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department received a report of check fraud. The reporting party stated that two employees of theirs had skipped work and deposited a check they forged 

Saturday, January 24

FOUND PROPERTY

Officers at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department received a envelope containing cash inside that was found outside 1366 Beacon Street on the morning of January 24th. The property is in safe keeping and awaiting retrieval. 

LOST PROPERTY

Officers took a report made at the front desk in the lobby of the Brookline Police Department of lost property. The reporting property stated that on January 24th, between 4:30 and 5:00pm, while shopping at Trader Joes on Beacon Street, they were unable to locate their phone. 

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

Officers responded to a call of motor vehicle theft for a motorcycle. The reporting party stated that ten days prior, on January 14th, they had last seen the motorcycle. The vehicle had been taken from a hidden place in their back yard. 

FOUND PROPERTY

Officers at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department received the missing property of a wallet that was found in front of Village House of Pizza on Washington Street. The wallet is being kept safe at the Department. 

THEFT

Officers responded to a report of theft, where the reporting party reported they were trying to sell a pair of sunglasses over Facebook Marketplace. The buyer for the sunglasses claimed that they wanted to see the glasses first before sending over the money, to which the reporting party complied. Yet the payment did not come and the buyer's identity was revealed to be fake. 

CAR JACKING

Officers responded to a report of a car jacking. This case has been cleared through court action.
