Wednesday, October 3rd

A report was made at the front desk of the police station for a package theft.  The reporting party stated his package was stolen from the front porch of his home.  He told an officer he received an email confirmation stating his package had been delivered at 9:51 this morning on 10/3/18.  When he went to retrieve the package it was not there.  This case is being investigated.

10:06 PM- Officers were dispatched to Tappan St for a break and entering of a residence.  The reporting party reported she entered her home and noticed several items out of place.  She feared she was the victim of a burglary so she quickly exited her home and called the Brookline Police.  Officers entered the home and determined it had been broken into.  Multiple cabinets and dresser drawers were observed to be rummaged through.  The reporting party stated the house had been unoccupied since 5:00 PM.  It appears force was used to open a window to gain entry.  The victim reported missing items.  This case is under investigation. 

Monday, October 1st

An officer received a call from the Vice Principle of one of our Brookline Schools, reporting that one of his students was bitten by a dog during recess period.  The reporting party told the officer the incident occurred on the playground around 12:15 PM.  The dog owner was walking his dog through the park when the student approached the dog owner and asked if she could pet the dog.  The owner allowed her to do so.  The dog then bit the student on the forearm.  The Brookline Health Department has been notified. 

A separate incident with a different dog:

9:50 AM- The Brookline Animal Control Unit was notified that a woman’s dog was attacked by a loose dog.  The complainant reported she was walking her dog around 9:00 AM by the Maimondies School when all of a sudden a loose dog came running out of a driveway and attacked her dog.  She claims the dog pounced on her dog and began biting.  A motorist stopped and scared the attacking dog away.  Her dog suffered two puncture wounds to the rear left leg.  Around 9:53 another caller called the Brookline Police reporting a loose dog on Buckminister Rd.  The same caller called back later and reported the owner had retrieved the loose dog.  She reported she was walking her dogs when she encountered the loose dog without a collar.  She described the dog to be friendly and playing with her dogs. This case is under investigation.

Sunday, September 30th

6:20 PM- Officers were dispatched to Kent St for a larceny of a moped.  An officer spoke with the caller who stated he parked his moped in the rear lot of his building and used a chain to secure the front tire to a bike rack.  He last saw his moped secured in the lot around 12:00 PM on 9/29/18.  On 9/30/18 around 6:00 PM he returned home and saw that the moped itself was stolen, but the front tire and chain were left behind.  A distinguishing mark on the moped is a Northeastern University decal on the rear plastic covering.  The reporting party was advised to contact his insurance company.  This case is under investigation.

6:20 PM- A report of a larceny of a moped was made on Kent St.  An officer spoke with the reporting party who stated he parked his moped opposite 34 Station St near the Brookline Village MBTA Station and used a chain to secure the rear tire to a bike rack.  He stated he hadn’t used the moped in over a month but his roommate last saw the moped on 9/28/18 sometime during the evening hours when he was returning home from work.  On 9/30/18 around 6:00 PM the roommate returned home and saw that his moped itself was stolen, but the front tire and chain were left behind.  He then went to check on reporting party (his roommates) moped and discovered that several parts were missing, but the frame and rear tire were left behind and still secured to the bike rack.  Parts of the moped that were stolen include the front plastic covering, front tire, and rear plastic covering.  This case is being investigated.

Saturday, September 29th

4:45 PM- The reporting party who rents a townhouse on Eliot St stated she was having issues with her bathroom and called the management company to come address the issue.  She stated that the maintenance representative from the management company came around 8:30 AM.  The reporting party described the maintenance representative as “the older man”.  She stated that he has always done the work for her and she has never had a problem.  She reported this time he came with a younger man who she had never seen before.  She thought he was training the man or he was his assistant.  While they were working, the younger man was walking back and forth from the bathroom out to the truck and back.  The reporting party reports being home at the time but stayed away from them so they could work.  She reports them leaving around 10:40 AM after they fixed the problems.  After they left, she noticed money was missing from her purse. She told the officer her purse was near the front door and she believed that the cash may have been visible in the purse.  She remembers seeing the cash in her purse earlier in the morning before they came and it was gone after they left.  She attempted to contact the management company but they were closed for the weekend.  This case is under investigation.

4:35 PM- Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Ave for a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle.  The complainant stated she left her vehicle in a car repair parking lot around 8:45 AM to be serviced.  She checked in at the service counter and was told to return at a later time to pick up her vehicle.  She returned around 6:00 PM.  She reported her vehicle was locked when she retrieved it from the parking lot and subsequently drove it home to Cambridge, MA.  When she arrived at home she reached for her sunglasses case which is kept in the storage compartment under the climate control and radio console.  This storage compartment does not have a cover that will shield the contents inside.  When she opened her sunglasses case it was empty.  She then checked another sunglasses case which is kept in the same compartment and discovered that sunglasses were not in that case either.  She was adamant that the sunglasses were inside their respective cases when she brought her vehicle in for service.  An officer spoke with the store manager on duty who stated the customer arrived and parked her vehicle in the parking lot at approximately 8:45 AM.  The vehicle was taken into the garage bay for service by an employee.  The vehicle sat in the bay until 9:45 AM as it was determined that parts were necessary for the service and had to be ordered and picked up at another location.  The vehicle was taken out of the garage bay and parked in the parking lot by the employee that was going to service the car.  The vehicle sat in the parking lot between 9:45 AM and 1:00 PM.  Both the manager on duty and the employee stated the vehicle was locked when it was put in the parking lot as the headlights on the vehicle flashed when the employee used the remote key to lock it.  It is possible the unlock button was hit.  The car was taken into the garage bay again around 1:00 PM to be serviced when the parts arrived.  The employee brought the vehicle in.  The service was completed by 2:00 PM and the vehicle was taken out of the garage bay and parked in the parking lot by a different employee.  The other employee and the employee who worked on the car both stated that they did not remove the sunglasses or any other contents from the vehicle.  This case is being investigated.

Friday, September 28th

11:35 AM- A report of a shoplifting incident on Harvard Street was broadcasted by Brookline Dispatch.  Dispatch provided a description of the suspect as a black female wearing a blue jacket and carrying a large bag.  She was reported to be traveling South on Harvard St towards Walgreens.  An officer located the suspect in front of the Walgreens.  She did not have the jacket on but stated she took the blue jacket off because it was ripped.  She was in possession of a grocery bag that was filled with several unopened packages of bar soaps.  An officer spoke with the reporting party and witness.  A cashier stated she saw the suspect enter the store and grab several plastic bags near the entrance.  She was not carrying anything when she entered the store.  The cashier stated the next time she saw the individual; she was attempting to walk out with a store bag that appeared to be full.  The cashier intercepted the suspect before she left and told her that she knew she didn’t pay for the items she was carrying.  It was then said that the suspect walked around her and left the store, traveling south on Harvard Street.  The items taken from the store were returned by an officer.  The suspect was placed under arrest for shoplifting and transported to the station.

Thursday, September 27th

The Brookline Animal Control line received a call from an Animal Hospital with a report of a dog bite that occurred in Brookline Ave Park.  An officer spoke with the reporting party and two family members.  A family member reported that he was present for the incident and that another dog came over and bit his dog.  He approached the dog walker of the other dog and exchanged information.  The owner of the dog who was bitten was not home at the time police arrived so the officers contact information was left behind.  The owner later emailed the officer the contact information of the aggressor’s owner and police made contact with her.  She claimed she was not present during the incident and that her dog walker was and gave the officer the dog walker’s information.  The dog owner was advised that the Brookline Health Department would be contacting her to conduct a 10 day quarantine of her dog.  The dog walker relayed information that she was at the park with the victim.  She was speaking to the owner of the injured dog and while they were talking, the complainant’s dog got possession of a ball that the dog walker brought to the park.  She then stated the two dogs got into an altercation when the victim began barking excessively at the dog she was walking.  A physical altercation engaged and the dog she was walking got a hold of the other dog’s side.  The dog walker claims the other dog’s owner pulled his dog away and she herself attempted to gain control of the dog she was taking care of.  The dog walker stated no injuries were observed on the victim and his care taker took the dog and left the park.  Moments later another family member of the individual who left the park came back to the park and approached the dog walker and informed her that their dog was injured and bleeding.  The two then exchanged information.  The dog owner of the aggressor has been issued a Town of Brookline By Law citation for biting or injuring another domestic animal.

Wednesday, September 26th

3:09 PM- Officers observed a young man earlier during the day known to them from previous interactions earlier in the day.  He was asked to leave the library after he was found asleep in the building earlier.  He cursed at the librarian and refused to leave.  Officers responded to the report and found the individual sitting at a computer on his cellphone talking loudly and being disruptive.  He was escorted out of the library sent on his way.  Half an hour later Brookline Police received a call about two people passed out on the lawn of the library.  One of the individuals was the same subject from the disruption earlier.  They were woken up and asked if they needed medical attention in which they both declined.  They were sent on their way.  An officer observed the same male enter a liquor store on Cypress St.  The officer contacted the employee working at the store and asked him to keep an eye on the individual who had just entered, as he did not have any money in his possession.  He was observed by the officer placing a bottle in his back pocket.  The store employee confirmed that the individual had not paid for anything prior to leaving the store.  The officer approached him and asked about the bottle.  The suspect denied having a bottle and offered a search of his person.  The officer then observed a plastic bottle of red wine in the gutter where the suspect was walking just prior to stopping him.  The officer recognized the bottle from when he observed the suspect placing it into his pocket.  The bottle was returned to the store and the suspect was placed under arrest. 

6:00 PM- An officer was dispatched to Babcock Street for a report of a larceny.  The reporting party stated a few days prior that he ordered a few items.  He received a confirmation email for these items at 2:00 PM on 9/26/18 that some of the items ordered had been mailed to his address.  When he returned home he noticed a box turned upside down.  The package was addressed to him.  He found that the package was cut open but contained one item.  He was unable to locate the second package that would have contained his other order.  This case is under investigation.  

7:22 PM- A report for a check on well-being was conducted in the area of Heath St and Glenland Rd.  Brookline Police Dispatch received a call that a vehicle was off to the side of the road with two occupants, both passed out.  When an officer arrived on scene both occupants were observed to be sitting up in the car and Brookline Fire Department personnel was tending to them.  Upon speaking with the caller, police were informed that the car was parked at an odd angle and partially blocking the roadway.  He observed the operator outside of the vehicle on the ground and the male passenger passed out in the passenger seat.  The operator then returned to the driver’s seat in the still running vehicle.  The witness removed the key from the ignition for safety.  An officer then spoke with the operator.  She had no idea where she came from or how she got to the location.  She stated she had been driving aimlessly and that she was “too messed up to drive” and decided to pull over.  She stated she was trying to do the right thing.  She notified the officer she was prescribed Ativan and likely ingested too much.  She was observed to have glossy eyes and be unsteady on her feet.  She was unable to concentrate and focus on the questions asked.  She stated the passenger was supposed to be the designated driver but he was messed up as well.  He was observed by officers to be asleep and snoring in the passenger seat.  He had been previously awake when speaking to medical personnel.  His name was searched in the system and a warrant was found.  The operator requested medical attention and left the scene with medical personnel and transit.  Her name was searched in the system and it was found that her license was suspended.  She was summonsed to court for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating under the influence of drugs. 

Tuesday, September 25th

8:20 AM- An officer was dispatched to Monmouth St for a larceny report.  The reporting party notified an officer that on 9/25/18 around 9:00 PM he locked two red giant men’s mountain bikes to the front of his stairs.  When he exited his house the following morning around 6:00 AM he noticed both bikes were gone.  A bike that does not belong to him was left behind.  The bike was obtained by Brookline Police as evidence.  This case is being investigated.

8:30 AM- A larceny report was made at a job site located at Brookline Place.  The complainant reported he left the job site on 9/24/18 around 3:00 PM.  When he returned the next morning around 7:00 AM he noticed heavy copper welding cable was missing.  Detectives are investigating this case.

10:28 AM- Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of a shoplifting incident that took place on 9/23/18.  The store manager informed officers that on the morning of 9/25/18 while conducting an inventory check on merchandise in the store he noticed items were missing off of a rack and had not been sold.  He inspected video footage from the store and noticed on  9/23/18 at 10:40 AM an unknown white male, mid 20s, 5’6” tall, skinny build, wearing blue jeans, black shirt with a white colored design on the front, with a black baseball hat.  The suspect had walked into the store and appeared to be walking the aisles of the store “looking interested” as to the location of the store employees.  The store manager then viewed the same subject also carrying a blue colored shoulder canvas bag walk over to the aisle where the electric hair clippers are on display, quickly take two different brands of them and concealed them in the shoulder bag.  The reporting party also informed the officer that about 10 days prior to this incident there was a male party matching the same description in the store who attempted to return items without a receipt.  The subject became agitated when the employee told him he could not return items without a receipt.  The police were called but the individual left prior to police arrival and he was unable to be located.  This case is under investigation.

6:00 PM- Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting incident.  Brookline Police Dispatch gave officers a description of a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a gray hat, as well as a black female wearing a maroon hooded sweatshirt.  They were both described to be between age 20 and 30.  The shoplifting was said to be in progress as the call came through.  Officers were asked to wait outside the store.  The loss prevention officer was waiting for the suspects to attempt to leave the store before approaching them.  An officer observed the loss prevention officer approach two suspects matching the description given by dispatch while just inside the exit doors.  The loss prevention officer working at the store reported that the female suspect she stopped was the female she observed taking items from various shelves and putting them in her hand bag.  She did not observe the male take any items and conceal them.  She reported he entered the store moments after the female and stayed by her side as she took items from the shelves.  The employee asked the suspect if she could look in her bag for items that were unpaid for and the suspect complied.  The employee recovered numerous items with price tags still attached to the items.  An officer read the suspect her Miranda Warnings and asked if she had taken items and put them in her bag in which she responded yes.  The male suspect was searched for store items after being asked.  He had none.  They were both advised they would be summonsed to court for the shoplifting incident. 

8:50 PM- A report of a break, entering and larceny was made on Cary Road.  The reporting party, the son reported he left the house around 3:50 PM.  The father arrived home around 8:30 PM to find the rear sliding door slightly open.  Inside he noticed some items on the first floor were moved/ disturbed.  After looking more closely he noticed items were missing.  Officers observed pry marks on the wood frame around the locking mechanism.  The son noticed items missing from his bedroom as well.  This case is under investigation

Monday, September 24th

10:30 AM- An officer was dispatched to the Billy Ward Playground on Brook St for a reported larceny.  The reporting party states she was at the top of the park located near Aspinwall Ave around 10:20 AM.  She left her bag unattended when she walked down to the other side of the park.  She was away from the bag for less than two minutes and when she returned she noticed the bag was gone.  This case is under investigation

6:16 PM- A larceny report was made on Beacon Street.  Upon arrival an officer spoke with the complainant who reported at approximately 12:40 PM a package was delivered to her home.  The package had a tracking number.  When she returned to her home in multi-unit building around 7:00 PM she was unable to locate the package.  This case is being investigated. 

Sunday, September 23rd

1:37 AM- Officers responded to Winthrop Road for a break and entering.  Officers on scene met with the homeowners who informed Police that they left home around 10:00 AM on 9/22/18 and returned around 1:10 AM on 9/23/18.  They reported closing and locking windows.  The window screens were said to be in place before departure and all exterior doors were secured.  The home alarm system was not armed for pet purposes.  When they returned home they discovered the master bedroom had been ransacked and the shade in one of the upstairs bedrooms had been drawn.  Officers determined that it appeared that the suspect initially attempted entry through the rear sliding door but it was secured by a piece of wood.  The suspect then climbed atop a gas grill on the rear deck and scaled a low hanging part of the roof whereupon it appears the suspect cut a hole in the screen of a bedroom window at the rear of the home and a small pry tool mark was observed where he unsuccessfully attempted to pry a bedroom window open.  The suspect then appears to have successfully gained entry through another bedroom window where the screen and window were pried, breaking the lock off the wood window.  It appears the suspect attempted entry into several rooms and stole a family heirloom. Two other breaks were reported in the same area on that day.  This case is being investigated.

11:15 AM- Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a stolen bicycle report.  The reporting party stated she locked her bike outside her apartment building on Beacon Street around 12:00 PM on 9/22/18.  Around 5:00 PM the same day her bike was still locked up outside the building.  On 9/23/18 around 8:00 AM her roommate alerted her that her bike lock had been cut and the bike was missing.  Her bike helmet was also taken.  The bike is described as a baby blue and black Scott Aspect Mountain Bike.  The bike has a sticker on the frame that reads “The Red Bicycle”.  The bike has a white paint stain on the frame.  It also has clip in pedals.  This case is under investigation.

Saturday, September 22nd

5:07 AM- A graffiti complaint was made.  The complainant stated upon coming into work on the morning of 9/22/18 around 4:30 AM he observed two new graffiti markings on the left side of the building.  The same tag was located on a nearby dumpster in the back lot which belonged to another company.  This case is being investigated.

11:15 AM- A report was made on Fuller Street for a break, entering and larceny.  The reporting party stated she had left her wallet in her boyfriend’s car.  She last saw her wallet on Friday 9/21/18 around 11:00 AM inside of the car.  She was notified by police that her wallet was found. This case is under investigation

5:50 PM- A report was completed at the station for a stolen wallet.  The complainant told an officer she was shopping on Beacon Street from approximately 2:40 PM to 2:50 PM.  When she went to the register to pay for her items she noticed her wallet was missing.  She stated while she was shopping, her wallet was in her purse which was open at the top and the wallet was visible.  This case is under investigation.

8:46 PM- Officers were dispatched to Washington Street for a report of an attempted break and entering.  The reporting party reported leaving members of her family home while she ran an errand.  The members, listening to music in the kitchen heard their dog barking uncontrollably.  An officer then spoke to an individual present during the incident who stated she was in the kitchen with her sister listening to music when the dog started to bark toward the rear of the house.  A bedroom was in the rear of the house which was unoccupied at the time.  The daughter who occupies the room checked the room and noticed her bedroom window screen was up and her laundry basket was pushed away from the window.  This case is being investigated.

11:07 PM-   A break, entering and larceny report was made on Royal Road.  Upon arrival an officer met two residents who were on FaceTime with the homeowner.  The two residents stated they left the home around 8:00 PM and turned off all the lights.  They reported having had locked all the doors with the exception of the rear basement door.  When they arrived home at approximately 10:45 PM they noticed the door in the foyer to the basement was opened.  As they walked through the home they noticed two laptops were missing, a laptop charger and a phone charger.  When they went upstairs they noticed several drawers in a bedroom opened and rummaged though.  A woman’s watch was missing.  The linen closet was open and the other bedroom had several drawers open and rummaged through.  Items were on the floor near the closet.  This case is under investigation.

Friday, September 21st

11:05 AM- A report of a shoplifting incident was made at a store on Harvard Street.  An officer was made aware by a store employee while patrolling that around 10:47 AM an unknown white male wearing a dark blue t-shirt, gray shorts, gray sneakers, with a Boston Red Sox shoulder bag entered the store from the Harvard Street side and made his way over to the merchandise table.  The contents of the table were women’s t-shirts.  The employee reported she then saw the man quickly start making his way towards the rear entrance of the store with what appeared to be a white GAP brand t-shirt with tags still on it.  He exited the store around 10:50 AM to the Centre St lot and left in an unknown direction.  Officers canvassed the area with nothing showing.  Surveillance footage confirms the employees reported information.  This case is under investigation.

11:40 AM- Officers were dispatched to Station Street for a larceny report.  The complainant stated on 9/20/18 around 1:00 PM she was alone when she went out back to place a bag of trash into the dumpster.  She stated that the front and back doors were left unlocked and that the company is open to the public.   There were no customers inside the studio at the time she left to take the trash out.  When she returned several minutes later she observed that someone had gone through her purse and taken her wallet.  This case is being investigated.

1:27 PM- Officers were dispatched to Summit Ave for a report of a larceny of a moped.  The reporting party stated the prior evening on 9/20/18 around 4:00 PM he remembers seeing his scooter, a black Genuine Roughouse, chained to a basketball hoop stand in their driveway.  When he woke up on the morning of 9/21/18 around 7:00 AM the scooter was gone.  The chain was found still locked and attached to the basketball hoop stand.  The lock had been attached to the front wheel of the scooter.  This case is under investigation.

Thursday, September 20th

11:15 AM- A report of a break, entering and larceny of a motor vehicle was made on 9/20/18.  The incident occurred on Harvard Ave.  An officer spoke with the reporting party who relayed that early in the morning on 9/17/18 at 5:22 AM his car was broken into and a laptop was stolen from the backseat.  He reported that his vehicle was left unlocked and the brand new laptop was still inside the box.  This case is under investigation.

11:30 AM- Officers were dispatched to Francis Street for a report of a stolen motor vehicle.  The reporting party reported his 2007 Gray Toyota Sienna Van stolen from his two car driveway.  He last saw his vehicle on 9/19/18 around 9:00 PM and noticed it missing on 9/20/18 around 6:30 AM.  He reported all the doors of the vehicle had been locked.  Family members who live with him are the only individuals with key access to the vehicle.  This case is being investigated.

Wednesday, September 19th

11:05 AM- Officers were dispatched to Ivy Street for a report of a break and entering and larceny.  Officers spoke to a house keeper upon arrival.  She reported she entered the residence that day around 11:00 AM and noticed there were objects thrown around the house.  She told officers the owner of the home has been away.  As she walked through the house she noticed a broken window pane as well as damage to the basement door.  She called the police after observing this.  Officers on scene observed damage to several window screens located at the front of the house as well as the screened-in porch.  A broken window pane on the door that leads into the main house from the side porch was observed as well as an open basement window and damage to the door at the top of the basement stairs.  Several dresser drawers were found open and appeared to have been gone through.  Detectives determined that the burglar gained entry through the basement window after failing to gain entry through the porch.  The house keeper explained that she tends to the home once a week.  She noticed a flat screen TV was missing and a computer.  The owner of the home was contacted and informed of the break in and larceny.  This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, September 18th

9/18/18

On Tuesday, September 18^th three reports were filed on larcenies from the job site at Brookline Place that occurred throughout the past few days.  One worker explained to officers that welding lead was left at the construction site at 3:30 PM on 9/14/18.  When he returned to the site on 9/17/18 around 7:30 AM the welding lead was missing. Another worker reported he left the job site on 9/15/18 around 4:00 PM.  When he returned to the site on 9/17/18 around 7:00 AM he noticed two copper welding cables and four heavy cables with ground clamps were missing.  The last report detailed that a worker left the site on 9/17/18 around 3:00 PM.  When he returned on 9/18/18 around 7:00 AM he noticed items four copper welding cables were missing.  There were also items taken over the weekend.  This case is under investigation.

*9/16/18 (Dog Bite)

11:25 PM- Officers responded to a dog bite call on Beacon Street.  Upon arrival an officer met with the victim who was at the time receiving medical attention.  Officers viewed the victim to be bleeding from the mouth area with a large amount of blood on her shirt and face.  An officer spoke with the dog owner who reported she was sitting at a sidewalk table with a friend and her dog by her side on a leash.  She noticed two females exit an Uber ride and walk toward the building she was sitting in front of.  She stated suddenly, without asking for permission, the victim knelt over and grabbed the dog by the neck and ears with both hands and pushed her face towards the dogs face.  She says her dog was startled and bit the woman on the face.  The owner explained to the officer that her dog is a friendly rescue dog that she has had for 6 years with no previous incidents.  The friend who was sitting at the table at the time of the incident stated separately that the victim suddenly approached and knelt toward the dog and placed her face into the dogs face.  The dog then bit her.  An officer also spoke with the victim’s friend who stated she was walking behind the victim when the victim approached the dog.  She reports the victim leaned toward the dog and was bit.  Brookline Health Department was notified as well as Animal Control. 

An officer observed the dog to be calm and petted by a few people with no issues.  Based on the initial investigation and observations it is believed that the dog was provoked by the victim when she leaned toward the dog.  At this time there are no by-law violations.  The dog has been place on a 10 day quarantine.

*9/14/18 (Armed Robbery)

On September 14, 2018, at approximately 11:13pm, multiple Brookline Units responded to 400 Heath St (Pine Manor) for an armed robbery called in by a friend of the victim. Officers spoke with the victim, who is a student at 400 Heath St. The victim stated that he had been in the East Village parking lot speaking to a friend on his cell phone. He was approached by two black males from an unknown direction. Suspect #1 asked the victim if he had a minute to speak. The victim stated that he was on the phone and could not. Suspect #1 then pulled up his sweatshirt displaying a firearm. Suspect #1 then demanded the victim to hand over the cell phone which he did. Suspect #1 had the victim unlock the cell phone by entering the password. Suspect #1 told him to hand over anything else that the victim had, so he gave the suspect his Student ID. The victim then pulled his pants pockets out to show them that he did not have anything else. Suspect #1 then told the victim to turn around. When the victim turned around, he began running away toward the East Village common area. The victim heard a pop that he stated sounded like an air soft gun/BB gun going off. The victim was unsure which direction that the suspects fled. The victim stated that Suspect #1 had his right hand on the firearm while it was in his waistband throughout the incident. He did not observe Suspect #1 take the firearm out during the encounter. The firearm was described as a black semi-automatic pistol with a white slide. Suspect #1 was described as a skinny dark skinned black male in his 20s, approximately 6'4"-6'5" tall, with a goatee, wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, and exercise pants (unknown color).Suspect #2 was described as a skinny dark skinned black male in his 20s, around 6'2" tall, and possibly as gray or black hooded sweatshirt. Both males had the hoods pulled over their heads. The matter is under investigation.

Monday, September 17th

12:35 PM- An officer was dispatched to Monmouth Street for a report of graffiti on a rear fence.  Upon arrival the officer was met by the property owner who directed him to the rear fence.  Two areas of the fence were observed to be spray painted.  The property owner reported she observed it earlier in the day but believed that the graffiti was at least a week or more old.  One image was sprayed in black paint and the other in gold.  Other buildings in the area had graffiti as well as different colors and symbols.  This case is under investigation.

Sunday, September 16th

11:26 AM- Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a request for police following an assault and larceny at a store.  Upon arrival an officer spoke with the store manager who reported a black male left the store with 5 bags containing produce.  The suspect fled on a black bike with the bags on the handle bars and traveled up Vernon Street toward Park Street.  This information was radioed to dispatch and multiple units were dispatched to the area in an attempt to locate the suspect.  The reporting party also informed the officer that before the suspect left, he got into an altercation with an employee who witnessed the suspect placing items into his bag.  The officer spoke with the employee who relayed he was in an aisle when he observed the suspect placing items into a bag.  He began to follow the suspect down the aisle and stopped him outside.  The employee looked into the bags and asked the suspect if he has a receipt which the suspect told him no.  The employee attempted to hold the suspect for police by holding onto his bike, and in an attempt to get away the suspect struck the employee in the chest with a closed fist.  The employee then let go of the bike.  This case is being investigated.

Saturday, September 15th

A larceny of a bicycle was reported at the front desk of the police station on 9/15/18.  The reporting party reported at approximately 8:00 AM on 8/14/18 he locked his bike to a bike rack located at the crosswalk in front of a building on Harvard Street.  When he returned on 9/15/18 around 8:00 PM the bike was missing.  The reporting party stated he definitely locked the bike to the rack with his cable lock.  The bike is described as a men’s Jamis Allegro bicycle, 21 speed, with straight, short handlebars, locked with a cable lock.  This case is under investigation.

Friday, September 14th

1:20 AM- During a building check officers observed a smashed window on Lowell Road.  The damage was inflicted on school property.  The means of the window smashing are unknown.  No additional damage was found to the rest of the building.

9:10 PM- A report was made on an attempted breaking and entering.  Officers reported to Clark Road and met with the homeowner and the reporting party who was taking care of the family at the time of the incident.  The babysitter reported in the earlier evening she turned off all the lights inside and outside of the home and locked the doors.  At approximately 8:45 PM she heard someone attempting to open the rear door of the home.  She believed the home owner was returning home so she walked to the rear door and turned on the outside light.  She then observed a white male with facial hair wearing a black hooded sweatshirt look up at her and quickly turn and run through the backyard toward Sumner Road.  When the home owner arrived home shortly after the altercation, they called the police.  This case is being investigated.

Thursday, September 13th

2:05 PM- Officers responded to the station to speak with an individual regarding damage to his motor vehicle.  The reporting party relayed he parked his vehicle in his driveway on Jordan Road on the night of September 12^th.  He observed damage to the right side mirror the following morning and went to the station shortly after to file a report.  An officer observed the right side mirror was smashed, but intact and only attached by the wire.  The front cover of the mirror was also missing.  The car owner was also a victim of a break, entering and larceny of the same motor vehicle in the past.  This case is under investigation.

3:15 PM- Officers were operating an unmarked police car when they observed a traffic offense.  They had stopped while traveling south on Washington St to make a left turn onto Holden Street.  At that time a pedestrian had walked in front of the vehicle crossing Washington St towards Holden St.  While waiting for both this pedestrian and oncoming traffic to pass, a white Honda that had been stopped two cars behind the officer in traffic suddenly crossed the yellow line.  The Honda went on to pass the car behind the unmarked police car as well as the police car, all while there was oncoming northbound traffic.  This caused the traffic to pull to the side of the road to allow the car to travel in their lane.  After the car passed the police car and the officers observed the traffic infractions, officers activated the vehicles blue lights and pulled the vehicle over at Washington St and Davis Ave.  An officer approached the driver. After questioning and discovering information in the system the driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and also cited for operating left of center line and improper passing.

Wednesday, September 12th

12:37 PM- A report of a larceny was made at the Brookline Police Station.  The complainant told officers between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM that day, she was conducting business at work on Washington Street.  She remembers the last time she utilized her cell phone.  Staff searched the building unsuccessfully.  This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, September 11th

6:40 PM- Officers were dispatched to Naples Road for a dog bite report.  Upon arrival they met the complainant who stated at approximately 6:00 PM he was with his dog in the Lawton St Playground basketball courts.  A male and his dog entered the park.  Both owners agreed to let their dogs interact.  When the complainant’s dog approached the other dog, the other dog bit his in the muzzle area.  Both dog owners pulled their dogs away.  The offending dog’s owner told the victim’s owner that his dog was up to date on her shots but did not give any contact information.  When the victimized dog and her owner arrived at home the owner noticed the wound was bleeding.  Animal Control has been contacted for further investigation.

Monday, September 10th

2:32 PM- A report was made at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department regarding a larceny.  The reporting party stated that on 9/1/18 at about 9:45 PM she had finished her shopping at a store on Harvard Street and called a taxi for a ride home, located on Beacon Street.  She told the officer she completed her purchase at the store and placed her wallet into one of the paper shopping bags, which she rolled out to the taxi in a shopping cart.  While leaving, she passed through a group of four men who were in the doorway of the store.  Two of the men helped her transfer her bags into the trunk of the taxi.  She stated that one of the men may have bumped against her.  When she arrived home, she could not find her wallet.  She stated that she and the driver searched the taxi.  This case is under investigation. 

Officers were dispatched to Chestnut Street for a report of a larceny from a building.  An officer was met by a health care proxy upon arrival.  The health aid relayed the complaint to officers.  The aid explained that her patient would be moving soon and that in anticipation of the move she had been gathering the patient’s belongings and reorganizing them.  The health aid recalls last seeing the item (box) of the patients in June 2018.  August 22^nd, 2018 when she went to locate the box she found the contents inside were missing.  She searched the residence with an unsuccessful outcome.   The patient has around the clock care by multiple aides.  This case is being investigated.

Sunday, September 9th

4:00 PM- A report was made for a breaking and entering with a larceny of a motor vehicle.  The reporting party told officers around 11:45 AM he parked his car on Dunster Road while he was on Hammond Street.  He stated when he returned to his motor vehicle around 2:30 PM he observed the contents of his center console were rummaged through.  Numerous items were missing.  This case is under investigation.

Saturday, September 8th

3:35 PM- A breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle was reported in Alton Court.  The caller reported she parked her motor vehicle outside of her residence at approximately 9:00 PM on 9/7/18 and when she entered her motor vehicle the next day at 9:00 AM she noticed her car had been rummaged through.  Various items were also taken from the vehicle.  The caller also told police she left her car unlocked.  This case is under investigation.

7:50 AM- A graffiti complaint was made on St. Mary’s St.  The complainant stated when coming into work on the morning of 9/8/18 around 4:30 AM he observed a new graffiti marking on the side of the building.  He notified officers that the past couple weeks his building has been vandalized with graffiti.  This case is being investigated.

Thursday, September 6th

4:37 PM- An officer was dispatched to Washington Street for a package theft.  The complainant stated he was supposed to receive a package on April 30^th, 2018.  He had been away the week of the delivery and when he returned he did not see the package.  This case is under investigation.

6:28 PM- Officers responded to Beacon Street for a reported shoplifting incident.  An officer met with the store manager on arrival who stated that around 6:15 PM he witnessed a white male approximately 6’1” with a slender build, short haircut, black t-shirt, light-colored pants, and a large camo backpack, enter the store and steal a few items.  The manager stated he noticed this male enter the store a few times in the past week as well as hanging around the area.  This case is being investigated.

Wednesday, September 5th

3:50 PM- Officers were dispatched to a store on Beacon Street for a shoplifting incident.  Dispatched relayed to officers that the suspect was on foot on Harvard Street heading toward Webster Street.  The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a blue shirt, approximately 6’2”, wearing headphones, and had stolen liquor from the store.  While in pursuit, officers observed a tall, black male wearing a blue t-shirt walking on Harvard Street towards Webster Street.  The officers observed the suspect holding two bottles of what appeared to be liquor.  More officers arrived for assistance.  An officer informed the suspect that he was being accused of taking two bottles of alcohol from the store without paying.  The suspect stated “I messed up; I’m an alcoholic and have a drinking problem”. 

Two store employees had been following the suspect on foot and were able to positively ID the suspect.  An employee then informed an officer that while she was stocking shelves she observed the suspect walking away from the cash registers with a bottle of liquor in each hand.  She states they made eye contact and he then began to hurry toward to the store exit.  He then exited without paying.  The employee shouted “Sir” to him and he ignored her.  Based on the positive ID and the suspect’s statement “I messed up”, the suspect was placed under arrest.

Tuesday, September 4th

1:24 PM- Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a larceny report.  An officer spoke with a loss prevention officer who had a female on scene who had stolen money from the store.  The suspect had been taking money and various items from the store for months.  The suspect was known to have ties to the store. The loss prevention employee had the suspect fill out a written statement where she admitted to her actions and apologized.  Video surveillance confirms the suspect’s actions.

4:07 PM- A report was made on a larceny of a bicycle.  An officer spoke with the reporting party who stated on the evening of Thursday, August 30^th 2018, his son locked his bicycle to a “No Parking” sign on Parkman Street using a “U-Lock”.  On Friday morning his son went to retrieve his bicycle when he noticed the “No Parking” sign had been knocked over and his bicycle was missing.  The bike was described as a Roadmaster 26 inch Granite Peak men’s bicycle with red trim.  The reporting party also stated this is the second bicycle that has been stolen from this location in the last month.  On an unknown date approximately a month ago, his son locked another bicycle to the same “No Parking” sign using a cable lock which had been cut.  The bicycle stolen this week was exactly the same as the one stolen last week.  This case is under investigation.

8:26 PM- An officer was dispatched to Browne Street for a report of a larceny of a bicycle.  The officer spoke with the complainant who stated on Friday, August 31^st he locked his bicycle to a “No Parking” sign at approximately 1:00 PM using a “U-Lock”.  When he went to retrieve his bicycle the following morning he noticed the “No Parking” sign had been knocked over and his bicycle was stolen.  The bicycle was described as a black Trek FX2 men’s bicycle.  A rack is located over the rear tire of the bicycle.  This case is being investigated.

Monday, September 3rd

Eight reports were made for break, entering and larcenies of vehicles on Jordan Rd.  All the vehicles involved were broken into or the owners left them unlocked.  The car doors were left open by the suspect and items were scattered on the seats.  Loose change and various items had been taken from the cars.

Four vehicles had been broken into and rummaged through on Summit Ave.

A vehicle had been broken into on Jenness Road.  The car door was left open and change was stolen.

Saturday, September 1st

1:06 PM- An officer responded to Babcock Street for a larceny report.  The complainant explained that while moving into a building, he had all his belongings to the side of the building in the parking lot.  When he came out of the building he discovered clothing of his was missing.  He noticed three individuals near his belongings and asked them if they took his clothing.  They responded “no” and got in a car and drove away.  The car was described as a gray colored sedan.  The individuals were two males and a female.  Officers were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description in the surrounding area.  This case is being investigated.

A report was made on Freeman Street for a theft from a building.  The caller, a student explained he was in the process of moving out of his apartment between midnight and 1:00 AM.  He was bringing items down to his car.  He said he did not lock his apartment door while moving items.  On one of his returns to the apartment he noticed articles of clothing missing.  This case is under investigation.

Friday, August 31st

1:52 PM- Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Ave for a report of a larceny from a building.  The reporting party informed officer’s that items had been stolen from his locker while he was working out in the gym.  He stated, he locked his items away around 10:30 AM and around 1:30 PM he returned and noticed his master lock had been pried open and broken in half.  Along with items having been missing, his wallet appeared to have been rummaged through.  This case is under investigation.

Thursday, August 30th

11:50 AM- A report was made on Gibbs Street for a larceny.  The complainant told an officer she was out of town from 7/18/18 to 7/23/18.  She believes her wedding ring was stolen from her bedroom.  She was in a hurry to leave for the trip and forgot the ring.  A friend was tending to her pets while she was away.  There is reason to believe the person tending to the pets is a suspect due to a past larceny on a separate occasion when the same person was pet sitting.  At one point during the trip the pet sitter brought company along with him to the residence.  The complainant reached out to the individual caretaking for the pets and the accompanying girlfriend.  They denied knowledge of the rings whereabouts.  This case is being investigated.

Wednesday, August 29th

6:07 PM- Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Ave for a shoplifting incident.  Brookline Police Dispatch described the suspect as a white male wearing a red shirt, black pants, and a black bag, who left the store and headed toward Kenmore Square.  An officer spoke to the reporting party who stated he viewed the suspect enter the store around 6:00 PM, go straight to an aisle and place items into his backpack.  He confronted the suspect who then left the store and headed in the direction of Kenmore Square.  This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, August 28th

4:00AM- An officer responded to a possible bat exposure call on Strathmore Road.  The caller stated she woke up to a bat flying around her room.  She did not know if she had contact with it.  She was given contact numbers for animal control companies and the Health Department was notified.

10:40AM- An officer was dispatched to Browne Street for a report of a theft of a bicycle.  The complainant told the officer his blue and gray colored custom men’s Rivendale brand, Homer Hudsen model, road touring bicycle had been stolen from his back porch sometime between 8:00PM on 8/24/18 and 9:00PM on 8/27/18.  A family member of bike owner stated that the bike was a rather large framed bike with a 64 centimeter frame with brown leather handle bars as well as the seat.  The bike also has silver fenders on both front and back tire rims and a gray/silver bike rack with a portable bike bag attached.  This is a sticker underneath the frame of the bike that says “Harris”.  This case is under investigation.

Monday, August 28th

A package theft report was made on Dean Road.  The reporting party stated he had a package delivered on Saturday, 8/18/18 sometime between 10:00AM and 3:00PM.  He believes the package was removed from the foyer area of the building.  This case is under investigation.

2:50PM- Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a shoplifting incident at TJ MAXX.  Dispatch described the suspect to officers.  The female suspect was monitored on camera taking numerous items and concealing them in her shoulder purse.  The suspect attempted to exit the store before the police arrived and was stopped by store employees.  When the officers arrived on scene, they were informed by a store employee that she observed the suspect on the store security surveillance cameras taking items.  Officers met with the suspect at the entrance of the store.  They informed her why they were speaking with her.  The suspect had been arrested previously on multiple occasions many of which were larcenies from this same store.  The suspect admitted to stealing items before an officer had the chance to read her Miranda Rights.  She agreed to officers having a look in her bag where they then found the observed stolen items.  The suspect was placed under arrest and informed that she was being charged with shoplifting.

A report was made at the station regarding a break and entering of a vehicle and larceny.  The complainant stated she parked her car in her assigned spot on the night of 8/26/18 around 10:30PM.  She left it unlocked.  This morning at 7:30AM she returned to her car and observed the interior lights on.  She also observed the interior had been rummaged through and items were taken from the trunk.  This case is being investigated.

Sunday, August 26th

12:36 AM- A larceny report was made on Freeman Street.  The caller relayed to the officer on Sunday August 5, 2018 she traveled to California and returned August 26 ^,2018.  Upon her return she found that some items had been moved from the floor to her bed.  Items were also missing from her desk.  The caller has roommates but they have moved back home.  She searched the apartment in an attempt to locate the missing items.  The officer also conducted a walk through with the resident to attempt to locate the items but they were unsuccessful.  The officer discovered a notice on the caller’s door when he arrived stating someone from the building maintenance was in the apartment but did not provide any further information.  This case is under investigation.

 5:40 PM- An officer responded to Beaconsfield Road for a report of a larceny of a cell phone.  The caller stated he was playing tennis in Waldstein Park on 8/26/18.  His cellphone was lying on the side of the court area with his belongings.  Around 12:45 PM he checked his phone and when he went to check it again around 1:30 PM he discovered it was missing.  He found that his phone was turned off at 1:00 PM.  The phone is a Motorola Droid Z Play, and black.  This case is being investigated.

Friday, August 24th

An officer was dispatched to Alton Place for a package theft report.  The reporting party stated she purchased two items from a store online.  The items were scheduled to be delivered by 8/17/18.  She called the company she purchased the items from on 8/24/18 and the employee told her she should have received the items by now.  This case is being investigated.

8:30 PM- Officers were dispatched to CVS on Commonwealth Ave. for a shoplifting report.  Dispatch gave a description of the suspect involved to the responding officers.  Approximately two minutes after the broadcasted description, the officers located a suspect matching the description given.  The suspect was read his Miranda Rights by an officer.  He stated he understood and was compliant.  He told officers he attempted to take an item from the store but returned it to the store manager when he was confronted.  The store manager confirmed the story.  The suspect was advised he would be summonsed to court for shoplifting. 

Thursday, August 23rd

7:58 AM- An officer was dispatched to Pearl Street for a report of a larceny.  The caller told police upon arrival that two separate 100 ft, long copper heavy welding cable had been stolen from the work site.  He last observed the cable on 8/22/18 around 3:00 PM.  Two weeks prior the same copper welding cable had been stolen from the site.  This case is being investigated.

2:05 PM- A report was made at the police station on a larceny of a bicycle at the Brookline Hills T Station on 8/21/18 around 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM.  The bike was locked with an Ottolock.  The lock was taken as well.  This case is under investigation.  

Wednesday, August 22nd

10:17 AM- An officer was dispatched to Pleasant Street for a larceny report.  The caller told the officer a package she ordered had been stolen from inside the foyer area of the residence she lives in.  She had been notified by the delivery service that her package had been delivered on 8/17/18.  The delay in reporting the incident was due to the residents actions of ensuring that her neighbors had not taken the package.  This case is being investigated. 

3:01 PM- Several units were dispatched to Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting incident.  The suspect was said to have just exited the store.  The suspect was described to officers on scene.  They were also informed that the individual left through the rear entrance of the store.  An employee explained the direction of the flight of the suspect.  The detail officer relayed that he witnessed the suspect board a specific bus and provided fellow officers with the bus number and the direction the bus was heading in which was southbound on Harvard Street.  Officers located the bus and stopped it at Vernon Street.  Based on the suspect’s description the suspect was located on the bus.  She exited the bus and was advised of her Miranda Rights by a detective.  She admitted to the officers on scene that before boarding the bus she had stolen several items from inside the store that called in the complaint.  She listed the items as well.  She also told officers she has a criminal record.  The reporting party identified the suspect as the person he observed taking items from the store. 

8:05 PM- A report on a break and entering was made on Winchester Street.  The reporting party stated that he left the residence where he lives around noon and returned around 3:30 PM.  Upon his return he noticed a screen to a basement window had been removed and placed against the A.C unit.  The window tampered with was closed but unlocked.  The officer observed that it appeared a pry tool had been used to dislodge the screen.  The reporting party also noticed a chair was placed in a location he had not left it.  He didn’t think much about the situation until he saw another resident return around 7:45.  He questioned her about the window of which she said she had no involvement in.  When she entered her apartment she noticed her room had been rummaged through and items had been opened and or taken from different locations throughout her room.  When her roommate returned home she also noticed items had been taken from her room.  This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, August 21st

11:27 AM- An officer was dispatched to Auburn Court for a report of a larceny.  The complainant stated around 11:20 AM on this day he and his family left their residence and walked to the back of their building.  He was carrying a duffel bag which he placed down on a wall that separates the building he lives in and another building.  He went into the basement of the building to retrieve a vacuum while his daughters were still outside.  After returning from the basement he noticed his duffel bag was open.  Upon checking it he noticed items were missing.  This case is being investigated.

Monday, August 20th

11:37 PM- An officer was dispatched to Harvard Street for a package theft report.  The complainant told the officer she left the country on 7/21/18 around 11:30 AM.  A package was delivered to her residence and presumably left in the foyer while she was gone.  When she returned home on 8/20/18 around 10:00 PM she discovered the package was missing.  None of her neighbors reported taking the package.  This case is being investigated.

Sunday, August 19th

1:50 PM- A larceny report was made at the station.  The reporting party claimed he was operating a taxi in Boston and at approximately 6:00 AM he picked up a person who flagged him down at the Star Market in the Fenway.  The individual was to be brought to a location on Beacon Street.  The customer had numerous items including a bicycle.  The bicycle was placed in the taxi and due to the lack of space; several items were placed in the front passenger seat.  When they arrived at the destination, the driver got out to help unload the items.  He had his cell phone present during the ride in the passenger seat area but a few minutes after leaving the drop off location he discovered the phone was missing.  He checked the car for the phone and did not find it.  An officer asked for the description of the customer and the building he entered.  This case is under investigation. 

Saturday, August 18th

A report was made on 8/18/18 at the station for a larceny that occurred on 8/11/18.  On the day of the larceny the reporting party had gone to a bank to make a deposit during heavy rainfall.  He arrived at the bank at about 12:10 PM and while he was waiting in line he placed his umbrella down on a table in the lobby.  He stated that after he had completed his transaction, he returned to the table at about 12:17 PM and his umbrella was missing.  He stated that he spoke with bank personnel and they informed him that although there is video of the bank interior, it is not immediately available since it’s done through a central location.  He returned on 8/14/18 but the bank did not have video available for him to check and no one had returned the umbrella.  The umbrella was described as unique with black cloth and a brown curved wooden handle.  This case is being investigated.

Friday, August 17th

An officer responded to Sherman Road for a report on a larceny of wheels and tires.  The victim’s vehicle was parked by the registered owner near his residence, in a parking space directly in front of the home on Sherman Road between 6:00 PM on 8/16/18 and 9:00 AM on 8/17/18.  When the owner returned he saw his vehicles wheels and tires were missing, and the vehicle was resting on crushed milk crates and the pavement.  This case is under investigation.

12:55 AM- An officer was dispatched to Parkman Street for a past exposure to a dead bat.  The caller stated on 8/15/18 she had walked into the kitchen area of her apartment with her boyfriend and found a dead bat on the floor with both of her house cats nearby.  The boyfriend grabbed plastic bags to dispose of it but saved it for rabies testing.  The bat appeared to have been chewed on and the owner was concerned for her pets’ health.  Appointments have been set up for the pets.  This case is closed.

10:57 PM- A report was made for an animal bite on Longwood Avenue.  The complainant stated she was walking on Beacon Street around 10:30 PM when she walked by a group of people standing on the sidewalk.  A black Labrador Retriever was sitting on the ground next to the group of people on a short leash.  As she walked by the group of people, the dog jumped at her and bit her right wrist which became red.  The person with the dog identified herself and stated that she was watching the dog while the owners were away.  The dog watcher claimed the dog may have been frightened by the person passing.  She gave police the contact information of the dog owners.  The owners stated that their dog was a rescue dog and had been with them for three years and has not bitten anyone before or been aggressive.  The dog had received a rabies vaccine recently.  A follow up by Animal Control has been requested.

Thursday, August 16th

An officer took a report on a stolen bicycle at the station.  The reporting party stated he had left his bicycle in front of Walgreens on Harvard St on Tuesday, 8/14/18 around 10:00 PM.  He believes he secured the bike to the rack with a combination lock.  When he returned on Thursday, 8/16/18 around 10:00 AM he found only his lock still secured to the rack.  The bike is a Trek Dual Sport 2 model, black with green arrows, and aftermarket light system on the handlebars.  This case is being investigated.

4:45 PM- Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a shoplifting incident.  Dispatch notified the officers while in route that the suspect was a tall white female, wearing a red shirt and a black backpack that was believed to have entered the store directly next door.  The reporting party with an officer listed items that the suspect took.  She was able to show the officer security surveillance footage to confirm her details.  Another officer recognized an individual fitting the description of the suspect outside the store.  The officer taking the report confirmed the individual was the suspect viewed on surveillance footage.  The suspect confessed to the crime and returned the items.  Court action has been completed.

4:35 PM- While monitoring traffic, an officer noticed a male subject described as a white male, in his teens with a blue red sox t-shirt, black gym shorts, with a gray backpack, carrying what appeared to be a red men’s bicycle on his shoulder with no front tire connected to the front fork.  The officer observed the location from which the suspect came from.  Based on the recent incidents of bike thefts and the unknown party carrying the bike with no front tire, the officer pulled over and made contact with the male party.  He asked him about the bike and ownership.  The male claimed the bike was his, but the bike required specialized shoes to fit the pedals.  After further questions following being Mirandized the officer requested a search from dispatch of the suspects name in the system.  It was made aware that he had a warrant for his arrest.  The suspect was notified of the warrant.  Based on the brand of the bike, the upkeep of the bike not matching the suspects living situation of being homeless, the suspect not having the shoes for the bike and a lack of proof of ownership, the suspect was taken to the station.  The bike was placed into evidence which was later claimed by the owner who had proof of ownership.  The suspect was charged with an active warrant and receiving stolen property.
