Traffic Offense: 8/3 at 3:05am – Auburn St
Officer requested a vehicle to be towed due to outstanding parking citations. Vehicle was towed and the license plates were seized.
Loud Music/Party: 8/3 at 12:15am – Freeman St
Officers were dispatched to Freeman Street for a report of a loud party. There was music and loud music coming from the apartment. Resident was issued a citation for violation of the Loud Party By-Law. Guests were asked to leave and the music was turned off.
Larceny: Occurred 8/2 between 7:00pm & 9:00pm at Longwood Ave
Victim claimed that a package, containing a newly ordered computer, was taken from the front foyer of her apartment building. The light in the foyer was not working at the time of this report.
Operating After Revocation: 8/2 at 7:32pm - Beacon St at Englewood Ave
Officer was monitoring traffic on Beacon Street while parked on Clinton Path when he saw a driver of a vehicle with a phone in his hand. A query of the driver’s registration revealed that his license was revoked. Driver was placed under arrest and was issued a citation for Operating After Revocation and Texting while operating a vehicle. License was seized and the vehicle was towed.
General Information: 8/2 at 4:04pm- Beacon Street and Winchester
Officer was dispatched for a report of a subject who was found passed out sleeping on a sofa in the public alley with a box with bottles of unopened hard liquor. Subject was treated by paramedics and consulted by a nurse who helps with victims of alcohol abuse.
Larceny: 8/2 at 3:19pm – Harvard St
A sales clerk reported a larceny from the jewelry case of a gold chain with a gold pendant attached. He left the suspect unattended upstairs and when he returned the customer was gone. Suspect is described as a black male, mid to late 20's, 6 feet tall, thin build, with a small gap between his front teeth. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, gray jeans, basketball shoes, silver band watch with a blue face, and a diamond stud in his left ear. Officers will conduct a follow-up investigation.
ID Fraud: Occurred 7/29
Victim received a call from her bank informing her that an unknown suspect had attempted to obtain credit cards on her name from two of their locations. The suspect used her name, DOB and SS#, but used incorrect addresses.
Malicious Damage: 8/2 at 10:51am - Harvard St
Witness observed a suspect get out of her car and key the passenger side of a different vehicle. The vehicle belonged to the suspect’s employer. At approximately 10:30am, earlier that morning, the victim terminated the subject as an employee. Officer will request a warrant be issued, charging the subject with Malicious Damage of a motor vehicle.

Police Report 8/1
Larceny: 8/1 at 11:31pm - Station St Lot
Witness reported that he just observed a suspect stealing a bicycle from a rack. He stated that he observed the suspect use a torch type instrument to defeat the lock that secured the bicycle to the rack. Suspect is described as a white male, older in age, balding, about 220 lbs wearing a blue polo shirt with white stripes, dark white khaki shorts, and white sneakers and was observed carrying a red duffel bag containing the torch like instrument. Several units responded to the area and searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him.
Attempted Larceny: Occurred 7/29 on Cypress St
Victim reported his bicycle missing. He kept it unlocked and unsecured in the garage area by his parking space.
Warrant: 8/1 at 6:28pm – Cutler Lane
Officer responded to a report of two unregistered solicitors who were going door to door in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, officer found the two subjects and did not see any identification being displayed by them as required by our town by law. Officer ran a records check, and it revealed that there was a traffic warrant issued for one of the subjects. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the station.

Robbery: 8/2 at 12:05am - Washington St towards Corey Rd
Officer responded to a report of a robbery that occurred in the area of Washington St. and Corey Rd. Female victim stated that as she was walking home from the train stop at Washington St, two Hispanic males approached her from the front and grabbed her cell phone out of her left hand. She said that she was listening to music and had the phone up in front of her as she was walking and she did not see the two suspects until they were right in front of her. One subject grabbed the phone and took off running down the sidewalk towards Beacon Street. Both subjects then got into a black vehicle that was parked and fled in the direction of Washington St/Downing Rd. Victim described the first suspect as a Hispanic male in his early to mid 20s wearing a black shirt, a black flat brimmed hat, short black hair, clean shaven with no facial hair. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early to mid 20s wearing a black hat. At approximately 12:55am, a Boston Police Officer observed a vehicle, with no front plate, traveling into Brookline from Brighton matching both the description of the vehicle used in the robbery as well as the description of the suspects. This information was pass on on to Brookline Officers. With this information, a Brookline Police Officer spotted the vehicle and proceeded to followed the vehicle. The officer ran the plate and it came back to match a different vehicle. The officer pulled over the black vehicle and found a screwdriver and a cell phone that matched the description of those stolen from the female victim. Female victim recognized the two subjects in the vehicle as the suspects who stole her cell phone. Based on the description by the victim and the Show-Up ID, both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the Brookline Police station separately. Both subjects will be charged with Unarmed Robbery.

Attempted Larceny: 8/1 at 3:06am – St Paul St at Beacon St
Officer was approached by a witness who stated that a male subject- dark skinned male, approximately six feet tall, thin build, with short hair wearing a white colored shirt- appeared to have been attempting to break into a parked vehicle. Subject did not make entry into the car. The owner of the vehicle was notified and she confirmed that there were no missing items from her vehicle. There is no further information at this time.

Officer pulled over a vehicle that made an illegal turn. The vehicle registration revealed that the operator’s license was suspended and the registration was revoked. Operator was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension

Officer responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. Pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment of possible head, back, and neck injuries. Operator of the vehicle was issued a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Larceny: 7/30 between 5:30pm & 5:45pm – Beacon St
Victim reported that he had cash removed from his wallet. While he was on the run with a friend, victim left his shorts hidden behind a bush in the indoor atrium. He later discovered cash he had recently withdrawn from an ATM was missing. Officer will attempt a follow up.
Accident: 7/30 at 5:20pm – Aspinwall Ave
The operator of a vehicle veered off the road and struck another vehicle parked on the road. Two parties in the car were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Victim stated that she found her scooter missing from where it was parked and locked in a parking lot. The scooter, along with a white helmet, a chain and a lock were all missing. A stolen vehicle report was filled out and entered by dispatch.

Missing scooter stolen from Hurd Rd was recovered from Dorchester.
Fraud: 7/30 at 4:45pm – Columbus St
Victim came into the station to report fraudulent activity. Victim stated that he purchased concert tickets from an individual online but never received any tickets. He attempted to contact the individual but was unsuccessful. Upon further investigation, officer was able to retrieve contact information of the unknown individual.
Accident: 7/30 at 2:55pm - Harvard St
Officer responded to a scene of a motor vehicle accident. Victim stated that her vehicle was hit in the rear by another motor vehicle. The operator of the other vehicle was issued a citation for following too closely. A passenger who was secure in a child seat in the back seat was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Several units were dispatched for a dispute between a female victim and a male subject. Female victim suspects that a male subject, who had twice previously spit on her, flicked a lit filtered cigar at the back of her head. Female victim claimed that the attack was completely unprovoked. Male subject was placed under arrest for Assault and Battery Dangerous Weapon.

While traveling west on Newton St, a wheel located on the rear axle of a street sweeper broke loose and struck two parked vehicles. One of the vehicle sustained minor damage to the front left quarter panel.

Victim reported that there were two separate accounts of fraud use on her debit card. No further fraudulent activity was identified on the card. Her debit card was cancelled and the bank was notified of the fraudulent activity.

Victim reported two fraudulent charges made on her account. She claims that she did not give her card to anyone else to make the purchase and currently has possession of the card. No other unauthorized charged have been made on the account. Officer advised the victim to contact the credit bureaus. Account has since been closed.
Burglary: 7/27 at 11:05am – Boylston St
Officer was approached by the property manager of a building claiming that someone had kicked in a window that had been boarded up in the front of the building. The building has been vacant for quite some time. Building has been secured.
Accident: 7/27 at 10:07am – Parkman St at Pleasant St
Operator of a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign causing it to strike two other vehicles. Operator of the vehicle was cited for failure to stop at the stop sign and failure to yield the right of way at the intersection.

Officers were given a description for a male suspect who attempted a B&E of a motor vehicle. Witness stated that they observed a male suspect (white male, 6'00" tall, wearing a black baseball cap with white letters on it, a white t-shirt and blue jeans) walk into the parking lot and attempt to open multiple vehicles’ front passenger door. The witness approached the male suspect and then proceeded to call 911. Officers observed a subject fitting the description of the suspect. Suspect was sweating heavily, was breathing heavily, and was short of breath when speaking. Witness identified the person as the same male suspect. Suspect was under arrest and was charged Attempted B/E of a motor vehicle.

Victim stated that her new phone was stolen from her pocketbook during work. The pocketbook was placed in a conference room where numerous other campers store their bags and personal items when they go outside.

Caller stated that two bicycles were stolen from his opened garage door. Caller’s sons did not hear anything while at home and the area is dimly lit.

Caller reported that there was smoke coming from the area of the front porch of his apartment. Brookline Police, along with the Brookline Fire Department, discovered that there was a cigarette that was not properly disposed of and was smoldering and starting to catch fire. Fire was put out and declared safe. Residents of the building were allowed to return to the building.
Armed Criminal Act: 7/28 at 6:18pm – Hurd Rd
Victim reported that she was woken up by a male suspect who had entered her apartment, held her down, strangled her, and then fled from the apartment. She also reported the suspect to be holding a black colored frying pan above her head during the assault, but at no time struck her with it. Victim had slight swelling to the top left side of her lip and had a small scratch/redness on her back. Upon inspecting the scene, officers found no signs of forced entry but did find a screwdriver that might have been left by the suspect. Male suspect is described as being a light skinned black or Middle Eastern male (not Hispanic) with a heavy accent, 25-35 years old, no facial hair, wearing a black bandana or doo rag on his head, and possibly wearing a long sleeve shirt/maybe white in color. Victim stated that she believes that the male suspect lives in the area.

Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Boylston St approaching Fisher Av. Registration check revealed that the operator had an expired Learners Permit. Operator was placed into custody for Failure to stop for a Police Officer, Operating to Endanger, Racing to break a record and speeding.

Police Report 7/24
Assault: 7/27 at 2:36am - Commonwealth Avenue
Officers responded to a report for an intoxicated person.
Caller informed the officers that an intoxicated man refused to leave the store
and then proceeded to assault the caller with an 11X18 inches tall sign. Caller
was able to pin him to the ground until Police arrived on scene. Subject was
taken to the hospital and was being held for observation due to his high level
of intoxication. He will be charged with Assault & Battery by Means of a
Dangerous Weapon as well as Trespassing .
Accident: 7/26 at 4:52pm - Independence Dr
Male victim was crossing the street in front of a marked
crosswalk when a van drove towards him and hit him in his left leg. He was
thrown approximately 6-7 feet through the air and landed on his right side.
Victim was alert and conscious and transported to the hospital. Driver claimed
that she did not see the victim walking until the last second. Driver will be
issued a citation for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Larceny: Occurred 7/1 between 3:30pm – 6:30pm - Centre St
Victim claimed that she had cash stolen from her pocketbook.
She placed her pocketbook on a shelf during her work shift, and returned to
find that her wallet was on top of her bag with cash missing.

Police Report 7/25
OUIL: 7//26 at 3:40am - Longwood Ave
Officer approached a vehicle that was still on the road with the engine running. Officer noticed a faint smell of alcohol and a moderate smell of fresh burnt marijuana and then saw a glass marijuana pipe sitting on the center console. When subject was woken up, he was dazed and speaking incoherently. Operator was placed arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, and Obstructing the Free Flow of Traffic and issued a civil violation for Possession of Less than 1 ounce of Marijuana.
Breaking & Entering & Larceny: Occurred after 7/13 at 5:30pm - Boylston St
Service manager of a car dealership reported that a dealership loaner car was taken from his lot. Officer spoke with the previous user of the vehicle, and she stated that she left the keys to the loaner car at the desk, picked up her keys and paperwork and drove off the lot with her car. A stolen car report was filed.
Graffiti Law: 7/25 at 3:16pm - John St
Man received a complaint from a tenant that there was fresh graffiti in the rear of the building. The graffiti was done in black marker or spray paint on the metal casing housing a large steam vent. The Walk and Talk officers were notified.
Larceny: 7/25 at 3:52pm - Beacon St
Man reported that his IPad was taken from him while he was inside the post office. He stated that he placed his I-Pad on the table located in the middle of the post office. He stated that he walked away and left it there and returned to find it missing.
Accident: Occurred 7/23 at 4:50pm - Commonwealth Ave
Witness stated that he observed a taxi cab crash into a bicyclist and then take off. Witness spoke to the bicyclist but the bicyclist claimed he was fine and then walked away. Witness was able to take down the taxi cab’s license plate number. Two days later, a man came to the station to obtain a crash report regarding the incident. The officer on the scene was contacted and he attempted to ascertain the facts of the crash. The man stated that he was cut off by a taxi cab and he went up on the hood of the cab, rolled over the hood, and fell onto the ground. He claimed to have sustained some ankle discomfort and his bike was destroyed. Officer contacted the taxi cab driver and he claimed that the bicyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction and that the bicyclist struck his cab as he was making a turn. Due to the inconsistencies of the stories, lack of evidence, and the fact that neither party contacted the police during the time of the crash to report it, no citations were issued to either operator.

Officer pulled over a car that was driving 40mph over the speed limit. Registration check revealed that the license was suspended. The operator was placed under arrest and was issued a citation for Speeding and Operating with a Suspended License.

Officers responded to a report of a female who appeared passed out on the steps. Upon questioning, the female was extremely uncooperative and attempted many times to walk away. Officers noticed that there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath, her eyes were blood shot, her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet. Officer concluded that she was impaired due to her consumption of liquor and she was placed in protective custody.
Accident: 7/25 at 10:25am – Boylston St
Officer noticed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicles, the vehicle in back struck the vehicle in front. Both operators were not injured and declined medical attention. The vehicle in back was cited for Speeding and Following Too Closely. The front vehicle was cited for Speeding.
Officer approached a vehicle that was still on the road with the engine running. Officer noticed a faint smell of alcohol and a moderate smell of fresh burnt marijuana and then saw a glass marijuana pipe sitting on the center console. When subject was woken up, he was dazed and speaking incoherently. Operator was placed arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, and Obstructing the Free Flow of Traffic and issued a civil violation for Possession of Less than 1 ounce of Marijuana.
Breaking & Entering & Larceny: Occurred after 7/13 at 5:30pm - Boylston St
Service manager of a car dealership reported that a dealership loaner car was taken from his lot. Officer spoke with the previous user of the vehicle, and she stated that she left the keys to the loaner car at the desk, picked up her keys and paperwork and drove off the lot with her car. A stolen car report was filed.
Graffiti Law: 7/25 at 3:16pm - John St
Man received a complaint from a tenant that there was fresh graffiti in the rear of the building. The graffiti was done in black marker or spray paint on the metal casing housing a large steam vent. The Walk and Talk officers were notified.
Larceny: 7/25 at 3:52pm - Beacon St
Man reported that his IPad was taken from him while he was inside the post office. He stated that he placed his I-Pad on the table located in the middle of the post office. He stated that he walked away and left it there and returned to find it missing.

Operating After Suspension: 7/25 at 6:59am - Harvard St towards Beacon St
A random query of a vehicle’s registration revealed that the registered owner had a Failed Inspection Sticker and a Suspended license status. Subject was placed under arrest and charged with Operating After Suspension and Failed Inspection Sticker.
Breaking and Entering: Occurred 7/24 between 1:40pm – 6:35pm at Buckminister Rd
Officer was dispatched to take a Breaking and Entering and Larceny report at Buckminister Rd. Victim stated that her housemate returned home to find the home had been entered. A report was taken, case is still under investigation.
ID Fraud: 7/24 at 5:19pm – Egmont St
Male resident stated to be a victim of identity theft. The male stated that he received a phone call from an employee of a dealership in California, who explained that he was the victim of fraud. A car was purchased by a party claiming to be the resident and they were looking to get the car back due to non payment. Resident checked his bank, credit cards, and other financial accounts and there are no discrepancies.
Larceny: 7/24 at 3:30pm – Harvard ST
Loss Prevention employee had a suspect detained in his office for suspicious behavior. Employee observed the subject placing two unpaid eyeglass cases into a bag of paid merchandise. Based on the employee’s observation and security footage, suspect will be summonsed for shoplifting. Suspect was issued a verbal no-trespass order prohibiting his return to the store and was asked to leave.
Burglary: Occurred 7/23 between 10:30am – 12:00pm on Clinton Rd
Resident/victim stated that her home was broken into. It appears the suspect returned to the basement and exited through the rear door. The only part of the house that was targeted was the victim’s bedroom on the second floor. She reported that close to 50 pairs of earrings, 10-20 necklaces and bracelets were found missing. Victim claimed that when she left her house, there was a dark skinned white male, in his 20's slim with dark hair and facial hair wearing a gold colored shot sleeve shirt, walking suspiciously in front of her house at a slow pace.
Fire Building: 7/24 at 10:05am - Beacon St
Officer and the Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from an apartment. After a forced entry was made, they discovered piece of wood smoldering on the stove. The small fire was put out by the fire department. Investigation revealed that a microwave fell off the shelf and hit the stove, which caused it to turn on. The piece of shelf that had broken off started to smolder and caught fire. No injuries reported.
Traffic Offense: 7/24 at 9:11am - Lagrange St
Officer observed a vehicle proceed through the stop sign. Operator was placed under arrest and cited for unlicensed operation and a stop sign violation.

Victim reported that she parked her vehicle last night and returned in the morning to find that her left rear passenger window was smashed. She noticed numerous items missing. Police Report 7/18-7/21
Accident: 7/21 at 3:00am - Hammond Street
Officer observed a vehicle parked by the side of the road at Hammond Street and Laurel Road with the vehicles hazard light blinking. Victim stated that as she swerved to avoid an animal in the middle of the road way, her vehicle hit the curb and then struck a tree. Victim was not injured. A report was taken.
Operating after Suspension: 7/22 at 12:38am – Harvard St
Officer observed a vehicle that did not have a valid inspection sticker. A query of the driver’s registration revealed that he had a suspended license. Driver was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses: Operating After Suspension (License) and Failure to Submit Motor Vehicle for Inspection.
Possession of Heroin: 7/21 at 7:50pm - Harvard St
Officer was dispatched for a person that was unconscious in a bathroom. As the subject regained consciousness, officer observed an opened hypothermic needle in the area where the subject was lying. When the door to the toilet stall was opened, in plain view there was a bottle cap with a brown substance -which the officer believed it to be heroin. Upon more investigation, officer revealed prescription pill bottles, and other pills. Subject was taken to the hospital and will be charged with possession of a class A heroin, and possession of a class E substance.

Officer responded to a report of a credit card fraud. Victim stated that she received an email suspicious activity on her credit card account. The illicit transactions were made in several different states with multiple charges. Victim stated she had possession of her credit card and does not know how it was compromised. She has since closed the account.
Robbery: 7/21 at 4:40pm - St. Paul and Parkman Streets
Officer observed two men beating another male at the corner of St. Paul St and Parkman St. Officer detained one the subject while the other fled. He was found later by another officer. He was staying at a hotel where officers removed an open cigarette pack from the subject’s pocket. The packet contained small plastic wrapped packets of powder- three of the small clear plastic baggies contained a tan powdery substance that was believed to be heroin and another clear plastic baggie contained a white powdery substance that was believed to be cocaine. Subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the station. The first subject was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, to wit, a shod foot, and unarmed robbery. The second subject was charged with assault and battery, unarmed robbery, Possession of a class A drug (heroin), and possession of a class B drug (cocaine). Ambulance was requested for the victim.

Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity. With a known description, another officer radioed that he had 3 parties stopped on the corner of Naples and Manchester. One subject had a bicycle and a backpack that was not his. The backpack contained his jacket, shirt, cell phone and wallet. Also inside the backpack was a large kitchen knife with the end of blade chipped off. Subjects were identified by the caller All three parties gave inconsistent stories and were unable to clearly state where they had been or how they came to be in the area, furthermore they could not state why they were in the Brookline area or the driveway of the resident. Subjects were placed under arrest and charged with the following:
- Subject A: Juvenile Delinquent to WIT, Possession of Burglar Tools, Knife, Flashlight, multiple bike keys, Received Stolen Property, Attempted Breaking & Entering, Conspiracy

Officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and was subject observed to be unsteady on his feet when exiting his vehicle. Subject was placed under arrest for the following: Blocking Intersection, Obstructing Motor Vehicle Traffic, Operating Under the Influence (Liquor).

Officers responded to a report of a noise complaint. Officers heard loud music coming from the residence and observed people in the apartment from the open windows. The resident of the apartment stated he was having a birthday party for one of his friends and the music got a little loud. He was issued a Town By-Law for Nuisance Control.

Officer was informed by a subject that he had just had a car accident and needed the officer’s assistance. Subject explained that he drove out of a parking lot and drove in the wrong direction. He got distracted and his vehicle struck a parked vehicle. Subject was issued for a One Way Violation. The owner of the parked vehicle was unable to be contacted.

Bicycle was left on enclosed porch at the front entrance to the house. The door to the porch wasn't locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

Subject was pulling out of her parking spot when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a parked car on the opposite side of the road. No one was injured. Subject was issued a Motor Vehicle Citation for Failure to use care when starting and stopping.

Larceny: Occurred 7/14 between 2pm-3:30pm – Center St Lot
Victim reported that her purse was taken from her vehicle. Purse contained two prescriptions. She believes she may have left the doors unlocked.
Accident Multiple MV: 7/19 at 2:23pm – Harvard St
Officer responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle accident. Operator stated that the vehicle behind her had driven into the rear of her vehicle. Neither party sustained any injuries.

Victim stated that her package was stolen from the foyer of her building. She was informed that her package had been delivered at 12:15pm.
Graffiti Law: 7/19 at 3:40pm– Washington St
Officers conducted a search warrant and a subsequent arrest of a known graffiti tagger in Brookline. He and another known avid tagger had been responsible for over 400 documented accounts of graffiti tags seen throughout the town. Officers sent a request for an arrest warrant, as well as, a search warrant for the other tagger’s place of residence.
• 7/19 at 6:13pm – Boylston St
Officers noticed two graffiti tags. The first tag was painted in white and red colors and the second tag in red spray paint. The tags were "PH" and "PHOP..."
• 7/5 at 6:15pm – Chestnut Hill Ave
Officers overlooked the Reservoir Train Tracks which is known to be a high crime area for graffiti. Upon arrival, officers, observed six "PHOP" tags on the walls of the train tracks.
• 7/19 at 6:32pm – Beaconsfield Rd
Offices observed two distinct graffiti tags that was in black spray paint and read "P.HO.P".
Accident Bicycle: 7/19 at 5:49pm - Harvard St and Aspinwall Ave
Police units responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a bicycle at the intersection of Harvard St and Aspinwall Ave. Operator of the vehicle relayed that a bicyclist had ridden directly into the back of her vehicle. Witness claimed that the bicyclist was riding erratically by weaving between stopped motor vehicle traffic. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was observed to be extremely disoriented with a possible head injury. He was attended to by the ambulance and taken to the hospital. Bicyclist issued By-Law citation for improper (unsafe) passing of vehicles.
Larceny: Occurred 7/19 between 3:30pm -6pm – Kilsyth Rd
Officer was dispatched to Kilsyth Rd for a report of a stolen license plate. Victim arrived home and noticed that the front plate from the vehicle was missing.
Assault: 7/19 at 9:04pm - Harvard St and Verndale St
Officer was dispatched to the area of for a medical emergency by a caller reporting of a male party who was "passed out." Officer observed a subject sleeping on a town bench surrounded by items and trash, including a full unopened beer can and a full unopened nip size bottle of whiskey. The subject became furious when woken up and constantly shouted comments that could not be understood due to the severity of his slurred speech. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.
Assault: 7/20 at 12:12am – Beacon St
Officer pulled over a vehicle that neglected to stop at a red light. Officer was informed by dispatch that the operator’s license had been revoked. The vehicle was turned over to the operator’s friend, who was in the car. Operator was issued a citation and will be summonsed to court for the following offenses, Marked Lanes Violation, Operating after Revocation.
Assault: 7/20 at 1:00am – Commonwealth Ave
Victim stated that she was going out for a walk, when she encountered a female subject who she had an open case against her. Victim feared for her safety and ran back and hid inside the park. The subject chased the victim in and out of the park with a knife in her hand. Neither verbal nor physical contact was made between the victim and the subject during the chase. Officers were unable to locate the woman. Victim described her as a black female, wearing white shirt, beige shorts, and grey shoes and walking a black dog. Officers have requested an arrest warrant on the subject for the following offense; Assault Dangerous Weapon (knife), Intimidation of a Witness, Threats to Commit a Crime.
Armed Robbery: 7/20 at 1:48am –Murphy Park on the corner of Brook St. and Kent St
Multiple units responded to a case of an armed robbery with a firearm that just occurred in Murphy Park. The description of the suspect given to responding units was a dark skinned black male with short hair wearing tan/khaki cargo shorts and a red short-sleeve shirt. The reporting parties also stated that the subject was possibly in his early twenties or late teens with a thin build. Victims stated that the suspect approached them and revealed a black colored semi-automatic type handgun down by his right side. Suspect requested for the victim’s phone and then fled. 5-7 minutes later, an officer spotted a subject fitting the description of the suspect. The recovered gun was identified as a pellet gun. Suspect will be charged for the following: 2 counts of Armed Robbery (Gun), Possession with intent to distribute class D, Possession with intent to distribute within a 1,000 feet of a school zone/park.

Victim stated that her package was stolen from the foyer of her building. She was informed that her package had been delivered at 12:15pm.
Graffiti Law: 7/19 at 3:40pm– Washington St
Officers conducted a search warrant and a subsequent arrest of a known graffiti tagger in Brookline. He and another known avid tagger had been responsible for over 400 documented accounts of graffiti tags seen throughout the town. Officers sent a request for an arrest warrant, as well as, a search warrant for the other tagger’s place of residence.
• 7/19 at 6:13pm – Boylston St
Officers noticed two graffiti tags. The first tag was painted in white and red colors and the second tag in red spray paint. The tags were "PH" and "PHOP..."
• 7/5 at 6:15pm – Chestnut Hill Ave
Officers overlooked the Reservoir Train Tracks which is known to be a high crime area for graffiti. Upon arrival, officers, observed six "PHOP" tags on the walls of the train tracks.
• 7/19 at 6:32pm – Beaconsfield Rd
Offices observed two distinct graffiti tags that was in black spray paint and read "P.HO.P".
Accident Bicycle: 7/19 at 5:49pm - Harvard St and Aspinwall Ave
Police units responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a bicycle at the intersection of Harvard St and Aspinwall Ave. Operator of the vehicle relayed that a bicyclist had ridden directly into the back of her vehicle. Witness claimed that the bicyclist was riding erratically by weaving between stopped motor vehicle traffic. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was observed to be extremely disoriented with a possible head injury. He was attended to by the ambulance and taken to the hospital. Bicyclist issued By-Law citation for improper (unsafe) passing of vehicles.
Larceny: Occurred 7/19 between 3:30pm -6pm – Kilsyth Rd
Officer was dispatched to Kilsyth Rd for a report of a stolen license plate. Victim arrived home and noticed that the front plate from the vehicle was missing.
Assault: 7/19 at 9:04pm - Harvard St and Verndale St
Officer was dispatched to the area of for a medical emergency by a caller reporting of a male party who was "passed out." Officer observed a subject sleeping on a town bench surrounded by items and trash, including a full unopened beer can and a full unopened nip size bottle of whiskey. The subject became furious when woken up and constantly shouted comments that could not be understood due to the severity of his slurred speech. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.
Assault: 7/20 at 12:12am – Beacon St
Officer pulled over a vehicle that neglected to stop at a red light. Officer was informed by dispatch that the operator’s license had been revoked. The vehicle was turned over to the operator’s friend, who was in the car. Operator was issued a citation and will be summonsed to court for the following offenses, Marked Lanes Violation, Operating after Revocation.
Assault: 7/20 at 1:00am – Commonwealth Ave
Victim stated that she was going out for a walk, when she encountered a female subject who she had an open case against her. Victim feared for her safety and ran back and hid inside the park. The subject chased the victim in and out of the park with a knife in her hand. Neither verbal nor physical contact was made between the victim and the subject during the chase. Officers were unable to locate the woman. Victim described her as a black female, wearing white shirt, beige shorts, and grey shoes and walking a black dog. Officers have requested an arrest warrant on the subject for the following offense; Assault Dangerous Weapon (knife), Intimidation of a Witness, Threats to Commit a Crime.
Armed Robbery: 7/20 at 1:48am –Murphy Park on the corner of Brook St. and Kent St
Multiple units responded to a case of an armed robbery with a firearm that just occurred in Murphy Park. The description of the suspect given to responding units was a dark skinned black male with short hair wearing tan/khaki cargo shorts and a red short-sleeve shirt. The reporting parties also stated that the subject was possibly in his early twenties or late teens with a thin build. Victims stated that the suspect approached them and revealed a black colored semi-automatic type handgun down by his right side. Suspect requested for the victim’s phone and then fled. 5-7 minutes later, an officer spotted a subject fitting the description of the suspect. The recovered gun was identified as a pellet gun. Suspect will be charged for the following: 2 counts of Armed Robbery (Gun), Possession with intent to distribute class D, Possession with intent to distribute within a 1,000 feet of a school zone/park.

West Nile Virus Detected in Brookline
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes collected in South Brookline near the West Roxbury line. This indicates that the virus may be present in mosquitoes throughout the Town.
The period of highest risk for getting either West Nile Virus or the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (two mosquito-borne viruses that can cause encephalitis or - swelling of the brain) can be from late July through the fall. Mosquitoes get WNV and EEE by biting infected birds, and thus, people and animals can get these diseases by being bitten by the infected mosquitoes.
Most people bitten by mosquitoes carrying WNV will experience mild to no symptoms, and will be able to recover on their own. Persons over 50 years of age have the highest risk of severe WNV disease. People who are bitten by mosquitoes carrying EEE tend to experience more sever symptoms. Severe symptoms of both diseases include:
• High fever
• Muscle weakness
• Headache
• Disorientation
• Neck stiffness
• Paralysis
• Coma
• Tremors
• Convulsions
• And in rare cases – Death
There is currently no vaccine or medical cure for these illneses. In severe cases, intensive medical therapy such as intravenous (IV) fluids and nutrition, and ventilator support can be administered in hospitals. There is no evidence that a person can get these viruses from handling live or dead infected birds or animals. However, gloves should be worn when handling any dead animals and double plastic bags used to discard them in the trash.

• Inspection and enforcement of standing water areas in parks, fields, tires, etc.
• Spraying to kill adult mosquitoes may be done, only if necessary, and if recommended by State. Every effort will be made to notify residents of any spraying beforehand.
How can I protect myself?...Avoid Bites!
• Avoid outdoor activity between dusk and dawn. If you must be outdoors when mosquitoes are active:
o Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks
o Cover baby carriages or playpens with mosquito netting

This year, the CDC recommends products which contain either the chemical Picaridin – found in Cutter Advances, products containing the oil of lemon eucalyptus,. Police Reports 7/17
Breaking & Entering: 7/17 between 6:30pm-6:35pm – Akers Ave
Victim stated he left his home for approximately 5 minutes
to walk his dog. He returned to find a camera, watch, ring, and other handled
items from all rooms of the home. No sign of forced entry was observed.
Officers processed the scene and a follow up was made by the detective
division.
Leave Scene Accident: 7/17 at 8:55am – Chestnut St
Officer responded to a report of a past Hit and Run. Victim
stated that her vehicle was struck on the right front side by her neighbor.
Victim stated that the neighbor did not attempt to exchange paperwork and
instead drove off. Neighbor will be charged for Leaving the Scene of a Property
Damage Accident.
Operating
after Revocation: 7/17 at 7:50am – Juniper St at Washington
Officer pulled over a car that neglected to stop at a solid
red signal. Registration check showed a revoked status on the operator’s
license. Subject was placed under arrest. He will charged with Operating after
Suspension and Providing a False Name.
Operating after Revocation: 7/17 at 10:23am – Southbound on Harvard St
A random query of a vehicle’s registration revealed that the
vehicle's registered owner had a suspended drivers license. Brookline Dispatch
confirmed the suspended license and the subject was placed under arrest. During
the booking search, officers recovered a green leafy substance believed to be
marijuana was located on the subject. Subject will be charged with Operating
after Suspension and will also be issued a Town By-Law Ticket for possession of
one ounce or less of marijuana.
Larceny: Occurred on 6/13 - Harvard St
Victim reported an unauthorized charge from her company’s
business account. She received information from the bank that the electronic
payment was referenced to a resident of Chelsea,
MA. Officers attempted to contact
the suspect with no success. A criminal application was filed for larceny by
false pretense.
Assault: Occurred 7/17 at 6:45pm-6:46pm – Harvard St
Officer was alerted to a fight, where he observed two male
subjects in a bike lane arguing and making a scene. Both parties were
immediately separated. Subject A stated that Subject B yelled at him and
approached him in a threatening manner. Subject A claimed he pushed Subject B
in self defense. Witness statements and video footage revealed that Subject A
swung an unknown object towards Subject B. Subject A was placed under arrest
for Assault Danger Weapon, Assault and Battery, and Disorderly Person. Subject
B was placed under arrest for Disorderly Person and issued a citation for
Soliciting without a permit.
Assault:
7/17 at 7:48pm – Beacon St
Police
units were dispatched for a dispute between two male acquaintances. Caller
reported that he was approached from behind by a party who wrapped the
broomstick around the front of his neck, and applied pressure until the
broomstick snapped. No medical attention was required. Subject had since left
the scene. Based on the victim and witness statements, and the recovery of the
weapon involved, subject was placed under arrest for Assault and Battery with a
Dangerous Weapon.

Suspect Arrested for Burglary
On Sunday, July 15th 2012, Officer responded to a call for a motor vehicle theft at Francis St. Victim stated that on the evening of July 14th, at around 8:00pm, he noticed that the door inside his house was left open. The next morning at 7:30am, his wife noticed that the same door was left open. They then noticed the car missing from their driveway at about 2:00pm. Several charges were made on the victims’ credit cards. From the home, a purse containing a set of keys was found missing, as well as, an IPad and a video camera. The victim felt that the suspect used the garage door opener to access the garage and entered a door that accessed the first floor of the apartment. None of the windows appeared disturbed - all windows were locked. After a Massachusetts Stolen Motor Vehicle Report was submitted, Boston Police notified Brookline Dispatch that they located the vehicle in the woods of Franklin Park. The car had been set on fire. The keys to the car were lying on the floor. The vehicle was towed back to the station for further processing and the victims were notified. The vehicle sustained extensive damage due to the fire. Evidence was obtained and submitted for analysis. Identification was matched to a resident of Dorchester. Officers reviewed video surveillance footage from a location where the suspect used the victim’s credit cards. Video footage confirmed the suspect’s identity to the evidence obtained from the car. Officers investigated the suspect’s known home address and place of employment. With the warrant issued, the police were able to locate and arrest the suspect. He will be charge

Complainant reported that his car had a flat tire after it was left in a parking lot. There was no evidence of damage and the rest of the car appeared in tact.
Operating After Suspension: 7/17 at 4:45am – Babcock St
Subject was arrested and charged with Operating after Suspension. Car was towed and the license was confiscated.

Officer responded to a report of a past residential Breaking and Entering. Victims returned home to find the back door open and items moved around the house. Engagement ring, diamond watch, laptop, and video camera were all found missing.
Malicious Damage: Occurred between 7/13 at 5pm and 7/19 at 1pm- Longwood Ave
Victim stated that his scooter had been vandalized by means of spray paint. Because the scooter was reported stolen a while back, the victim was concerned that the individual who had originally stolen his scooter had come back to vandalize it as a means of revenge. There was no illness or injury reported.

Officer responded to an open door call. The front door bolt had been smashed, alarm key was taken off the wall, and there was an audible alarm sounding. Officer discovered a screw driver on the floor in the hallway near the master bedroom. Entry was gained through the front foyer door using the screw driver and there was a pry mark on the front foyer door. The apartment appeared intact and nothing appeared disturbed.

Victim came to the station for a report of identity theft. She stated that she filed her taxes on 4/10/2012 and since had not received them. According to the IRS, someone else had already attempted to file a return with the victims name, DOB, and social security number. Investigation is being made. Social Security and the Credit Bureau had been notified.

Accident: 7/16 at 3:15am – Washington St
Subject stated that he fell asleep while operating his vehicle, which resulted in his vehicle striking a tree. Subject was in stable condition, with non-incapacitating injuries. Officers discovered that the subject never sought a driver’s license. He was charged with the following charges: unlicensed operation, operating outside marked lanes, and impeded operation.

Officers observed a vehicle making an illegal U-Turn. Registration revealed that that the driver had a suspended license. Subject was placed under arrest and charged with: Operating after suspension, Illegal U-turn where posted, and Defective equipment.

A query of a motor vehicle revealed that the driver’s license had been revoked. Driver was charged with unlicensed operation and operating after registration revocation.
Larceny: Occurred 7/14 at 5:25pm – Perry St.
Woman reported some checks from her book were stolen. She did not see anyone take these items and there is no activity on the account. Account was cancelled.

Officers observed a vehicle making an illegal left turn from Harvard Street onto Beacon Street eastbound. A registry check revealed the subject’s a motor vehicle was suspended. Subject was placed under arrest and was charged with: operating after suspension and making a left turn where prohibited.
Larceny: Occurred 7/14 between 10:00pm-7/15 1:30pm– Pleasant St
Officer responded to a report of a stolen cell phone report. Subject stated that she left her phone on her desk at around 10:00pm and returned the next day at 1:30pm to find her phone missing. She ‘pinged’ the phone at approximately 1:45am and it was moving on Centre St in Boston. At approximately 1400 hrs she ‘pinged’ the phone again and the phone had stopped moving at Armstrong St. in Boston. Part-time custodian stated he did not notice the phone while he was working today.
Animal Bite: 7/15 at 1:00am – Naples Rd
Officer responded for a report of a bat in the house. Victims explained that they were woken up by the bat and that both of them were exposed to the bat while they were asleep. Neither knows for sure if they were bit or not. The bat was captured and brought to the state lab for testing.
Burglary: Occurred 6/14 between 10:00pm- 6/15 9:00am – Kent St and Francis St
Officer responded to a call for a motor vehicle theft. There was also a missing IPad and a recent charge on their online banking account. Officers checked the other vehicles on Kent St. and Francis St. Out of the twelve vehicles in the immediate area that were parked in the driveways, six out of the twelve were unlocked. Neighbors reported nothing missing or disturbed in their vehicles. The vehicle was later found and towed back to the station for further processing by the detectives.
Malicious Damage: - Occurred 7/4 between 9:00am – 11:00pm Columbia St
Victim claimed he left his vehicle in front of his house from 9:00am – 11:00pm. The next morning, he noticed the rear license plate was folded upwards, and the rear wiper was missing. The wiper was found just ahead of where the vehicle was parked on the street. There was no other damage to the vehicle, and no witnesses to this crime.
Malicious Damage: 7/15 at 2:50am – Boylston St approaching Hammond St
Victim claimed he was struck by a partially full beer can. He was able to write down the suspect’s license plate number. Officer was able to identify that the vehicle was registered to a resident of Dedham. Dedham Police Department was contacted and they sent a car to the resident’s address. No vehicle was found and no contact was able to be made. At this time there is no way of knowing who was driving the vehicle or who may have thrown the beer can out of the vehicle. Victim did not see how many people were in the car and did not get any descriptions of the driver or any passengers.
Accident: 7/15 2:19am – Mountfort St/St. Mary’s St
Officer responded to the intersection of Mountford St and St. Mary's St for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered from the crash. Driver claimed that he never saw the pedestrian attempting to cross. Upon questioning, pedestrian stated that on her way home after having 4 or 5 drinks, she ran out into the street without looking for on coming traffic. Officers observed no skid marks, no gauges in the street, and the traffic light was functioning properly. Accident is still under investigation.
Breaking and Entering of MV: Occurred 7/14 between 6:40pm-8:00pm – Fuller St
Victim reported that her vehicle had been broken into earlier in the night while parked in the Fuller St parking lot. She returned to notice that the rear driver’s side window was smashed. Officer observed a small pry mark on the bottom left side of the molding area to her window; which appears that the suspect(s) used a sharp screwdriver type instrument to smash the glass. At this time, the victim does not believe anything was taken but was advised to call again if she discovered something was stolen.
Larceny: 7/14 5:49pm – Harvard St
Subject was caught concealing security tags. 13 items were recovered from the store and other items from other store. She also had controlled medications in her possession. Subject was placed under arrest and charged with the following: Shoplifting, Receive Stolen Property, and Possession Class E.
Subject stated that he fell asleep while operating his vehicle, which resulted in his vehicle striking a tree. Subject was in stable condition, with non-incapacitating injuries. Officers discovered that the subject never sought a driver’s license. He was charged with the following charges: unlicensed operation, operating outside marked lanes, and impeded operation.

Police Report 7/11-7/12
Malicious Damage: 7/13 at 6:15am – Dudley Way & Lee St to Boylston St & Warren St
Officers responded to a report of garbage bins in the water. They observed 7 garbage bins that had been removed from their foundation and rolled into the reservoir. The Water Department was notified.
Protective Custody: 7/12 at 11:49pm – Chapel St
Officer responded to a report of a motorcycle accident. Upon arrival, officers observed that there was in fact no accident but that the party in possession of the moped was heavily intoxicated. They determined that the subject was in no condition to care for himself. Subject was placed into Protective Custody. The moped was towed and held until an owner could be determined.
Larceny: Occurred 7/9 at 5:30pm – Linden St
Victim reported a theft of her package. The service carrier claimed that the package was left outside on the front stairs of her building. Victim arrived home to find that there was no package on the stairs.
Fall on Town Property: 7/12 at 3:50pm – Center St
Officer witnessed a woman trip and fall on the sidewalk in front of a market. He immediately requested EMS and rendered assistance until they arrived. Woman suffered scrapes to her left knee and both wrists. She was treated by the ambulance. Upon further investigation, officer observed several large cracks and deep depressions in the sidewalk. D.P.W. was notified and cones were placed over the damage area.
Graffiti Law: 7/12 at 1:35pm – Village Way
Caller stated he observed several graffiti markings over the past two weeks on the Village Way property all with the same tag. Walk & Talk Officers were notified.
Breaking & Entering of MV: 7/12 at 12:45pm – Ivy St
Officers responded to a report of a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle in progress. Witness observed two young black males, wearing beach shorts, and no shirts fleeing from the scene, after they reached into the window of a dark-colored motor vehicle. Officers were able to stop 2 suspects across the street fitting that description. Subjects will be charged with the criminal offenses of Juvenile Delinquency to wit: Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle.
Assault: 7/12 at 10:10am – Beacon St
Officers responded to a report of a past assault and battery. Caller stated that he and an acquaintance of his got into an argument. The acquaintance struck the caller with his walking cane, in the left elbow. Caller fell and landed on the front yard and was struck again on his back with the cane. Both parties refused medical attention and there were no visible injuries to either party. Both were issued a criminal complaint.

Police Reports 7/11-7/12
Assault: Occurred 7/12 at 12:30am – Colbourne Crescent
Victim stated that his friends saw a glass cup flying over the fence wall and break on the victim’s patio. There were no injuries during the incident and there was no damage to any property.
Graffiti Law: 7/12 at 2:05am – Boylston St.
Officer noticed a black spray paint marking on the side of the wall. Photos were taken and the investigation is still on going at this time.
Burglary: 7/11 at 11:23pm – Kent St.
Caller watched two people try to climb into his neighbor’s window. Officers noticed that the window screen on one of the first floor windows appeared to be cut. There also appeared to be a step stool directly below this window. Upon further investigation, officers discovered 2 mountain bikes inside the back seat of one of the suspect’s car, in plain sight. The vehicle was towed where it is secured pending the application for a search warrant.

Officer noticed a vehicle with no registration sticker properly displayed on the corner of the license plate. The query indicated the registration was revoked and the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. Subject was placed under arrest.

Officer responded to a past attempted residential Breaking and Entering report. Victim stated that his wife observed damage to the front door of their home. The door appeared to have a single pry mark next to the dead bolt and damage to the lock mechanism. Victim further stated that other neighbors observed an intoxicated white male in his 40-50's, approximately 5'10" with a stocky build, lingering in the back alley behind Washington Street. No entry appeared to be gained. The second door into the home had no damage to it.

The two bicycles were locked together to an iron fence behind the house; the suspect was able to remove the bicycles without breaking the lock. Victim stated there was a suspect seen in the back alley of her house today. This man has been seen in the area for the past few weeks, mainly in the daytime. He is described as an intoxicated white male in his 40-50's, approximately 5'10" with a stocky build, lingering in the back alley. Neighborhood has been advised to contact the police if they observed the suspect.
