An individual reported that their leashed dog was bitten by another leashed dog on Colbourne Cres. A citation was issued to the owner of the second dog, the one that became aggressive.
FRAUD
A report of fraud was filed at the front desk of the Brookline Police Station. The reporting party received a letter to their residence on Beacon Street from the Department of Unemployment Assistance regarding a request to file for unemployment. However, the individual never filed for unemployment and is concerned about identity fraud.
CAR BREAK
Officers responded to Browne Street for a past car break. The reporting party believes the break in most likely occurred several days prior and they noted that numerous items were missing from the vehicle.
Tuesday, September 30
TRESPASSING
An individual known to police trespassed on a residence on Jordan Rd. They were charged with trespassing and were summoned to court.
SHOPLIFTING
An employee at a business on Beacon Street reported that three individuals attempting to shoplift.
FRAUD
Officers were dispatched to Pleasant Street for another case of unemployment fraud. The reporting party received a letter from the Department of Unemployment Assistance even though they never applied for assistance.
CAR BREAK
An individual reported a car break on Jordan Rd. They parked their car overnight and noted that the front driver's side door was ajar and the glove compartment was open when they returned the next day. A bag was stolen from their glove compartment as well.
PACKAGE THEFT
Officers received report of a package theft from an apartment's mail room on Kent St.
THEFT FROM MAILBOX
A theft was reported from a mailbox on Washington St. The reporting party explained that a package was delivered and left in their mailbox, however, they found that the contents were missing.
Wednesday, October 1
FOUND PROPERTY
An individual found a pair of Apple AirPods at Amory Park and turned them into the station. Officers note that the case had a small yellow sticker on it. The AirPods have been stored for safekeeping.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Officers were dispatched to a business on Washington Street for a report of credit card fraud. The manager explained that their website declines around 100 fraudulent credit card purchase attempts daily. Fortunately, the business hasn't lost any money or merchandise at this time.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An individual reported a case of credit card fraud. They discovered that the fraudulent charges were occurring at locations in the Brookline area.
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident on Gerry Road reported that multiple packages were stolen from the front of their residence.
STOLEN SCOOTER
An unsecured scooter left in front of Boylston Street was stolen.
STOLEN MOTORIZED SCOOTER
Officers received a report of a stolen motorized scooter from a bike rack on Harvard St. The reporting party stated that a cable lock had been used to secure the scooter; however, the lock was later found intact on the ground and the scooter was missing.
DISTURBING PEACE
An individual on Beacon Street was arrested for discharging a pellet gun in an attempt to hunt rats. The noise disturbed nearby residents, and one of the pellets shattered the window of a parked vehicle nearby.
Thursday, October 2
BIKE THEFT
A bicycle was reported stolen from the front steps of an apartment building on Linden St. The bike had not been secured or locked at the time of the theft.
BURGLARY
Officers responded to a disturbance at a business on Harvard Street involving an individual acting erratically. The individual attempted to take a display electric bike, engaged in a confrontation with staff, opened the passenger door of a parked vehicle, and threw an object at the storefront. No damage was reported. The individual was detained, evaluated, and charges were filed.
SHOPLIFTING
An individual shoplifted from a business on Commonwealth Ave.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
A resident of Freeman Street reported an attempted breaking and entering at their residence. Security camera footage captured the suspect pulling on locked door handles before leaving the area. The individual was identified the following day and charges were filed.
Friday, October 3
LARCENY
Officers received report of a larceny at a business on Beacon St.
FOUND PROPERTY
A passport was found on Commonwealth Avenue and has been secured at the Brookline Police Department for safekeeping.
ASSAULT
Officers responded to a disturbance at a Beacon Street business where two individuals became aggressive toward staff, resulting in a physical altercation. Both parties have been summoned to court on multiple charges.
LARCENY
An individual reported they accidentally left their purse unattended while browsing in a store on Harvard Street and returned to find it was stolen.

STOLEN MOTORIZED SCOOTER
An unlocked motorized scooter was stolen from the sidewalk on Beacon St.

CHECK FRAUD
A resident of Winchester Street reported a check fraud incident involving a security deposit refund check that was intercepted, altered, and fraudulently cashed for a significantly larger amount.
STOLEN ELECTRIC SCOOTER
Police received report that an electric scooter had been stolen from a bicycle rack on Harvard St. The reporting party found their cable lock on the ground, appearing to have been cut.
Sunday, October 5
ABANDONED PROPERTY
An individual reported that a mountain bike had been left on their property on Davis Avenue. The bicycle was collected and is being stored at the police station for safekeeping.
ID FRAUD
Concern was raised regarding fraud targeting someone waiting for an Uber Eats order. They received a phone call, claiming to be from the restaurant preparing the order, requesting verification of information before delivery. The reporting party received an email linked to their Uber Eats account containing a code, which they provided to the fraudulent caller. Minutes later, the individual began receiving emails indicating multiple unauthorized logins to their account.
MALICIOUS DAMAGE
Officers responded to a report of a broken bedroom window at a residence on Freeman St. Upon investigation, there was no evidence that the damage resulted from an attempted break-in; therefore, the incident was classified as malicious damage.
