Monday, September 22

SHOPLIFTING

An individual was reported shoplifting from a business on Harvard St. The suspect was located at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Harvard Street. The stolen item was returned to the business and the guilty party was summoned to the Brookline District Court for shoplifting. 

PACKAGE THEFT

A resident reported a package theft to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department. They stated they received a delivery notification for a package at their Kent Street residence, but when they checked a few hours later, the package was gone.

CHECK FRAUD

Officers received report of check fraud involving a check stolen from a mailbox on Winchester Street. 

BIKE THEFT

A resident on Babcock Street reported that two electric bicycles were stolen from a bike rack outside their building. One of the bikes was later recovered nearby, while the other remains missing. 

CHECK FRAUD

Another case of check fraud was reported to the front desk of the police station. The reporting party stated that they received notices about fraudulent checks issued in their name, connected to casinos in a different state. The individual confirmed they had not authorized the transactions or visited the locations. No financial loss occurred, and the matter is being looked into further.

SHOPLIFTING

An individual was arrested for shoplifting and trespassing at a business on Beacon Street. Staff observed the person leaving with unpaid merchandise. The stolen item was recovered and returned, and the individual was placed under arrest.

Tuesday, September 23

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

An attempted residential break-in was reported on Monmouth Street. The resident discovered damage to a rear basement door, including the door frame and lock, indicating someone tried but failed to gain entry. 

ASSAULT WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON

Officers responded to a report of an individual making threats while brandishing a firearm near Still Street Park. Witnesses stated that a masked person in a vehicle made threatening remarks and pointed what appeared to be a firearm before fleeing the area. The suspect was identified, and the incident was cleared through court action.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Gerry Road, a resident reported a case of disorderly conduct when an individual was seen on a backyard security camera acting inappropriately near the residence. The subject fled the area after a floodlight was activated. A search of the nearby area was conducted but the individual was not located.

BIKE THEFT

A bicycle was reported stolen from a rack located on Commonwealth Ave. The reporting party confirmed the bike was secured with a lock at the time of the theft.

Wednesday, September 24

FRAUD

An individual reported fraudulent activity involving an account opened in their name without authorization. The reporting party discovered unpaid charges tied to the unauthorized account. The victim has filed claims with credit bureaus and was advised to monitor their accounts closely.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A resident of Fuller Street reported unauthorized charges to their credit card. The charges were made at a store despite the cardholder not being in possession of the card at the time. The individual stated the card was left at their residence while they were staying at another address. A report was filed at the request of the issuing bank for dispute documentation.

LOST PROPERTY

An individual reported a blue Red Sox backpack containing a clarinet as lost. The item was last seen at a playground located on Francis Street.

RECOVERED STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

A motorcycle reported stolen on June 30th, 2025, from Harvard Street was recovered by police on Woodrow Avenue in Dorchester. It was found damaged, without keys, and with no arrests made. The vehicle was towed to a nearby lot, and Brookline Police cleared its stolen status the same day.

Thursday, September 25

BIKE THEFT

Officers investigated a stolen blue bicycle and lock from an unlocked garage on Somerset Road, where the owner found an unfamiliar white bike left in place of the stolen bike. Later, a resident at Beaconsfield Road reported finding two stolen bikes—including the white bike from the Somerset Road incident—in their backyard. The white bike and other recovered bicycles were taken to the police station for safekeeping. 

BIKE THEFT

Officers responded to a report of a stolen green bicycle from a side porch on Colbourne Cres. The suspect forcibly damaged the porch handrail to steal the bike. A blue bicycle was found nearby and brought to the station for safekeeping. Later, the officer located the green bike in a backyard on Beaconsfield Road and returned to its owner. 

CHECK FRAUD

A report of a fraudulent check involving a local business on Park Street was reported to the station. The business noted that financial documents had previously been left unsecured. A fraud claim has been filed with the bank.

SHOPLIFTING

An individual matching the description of a shoplifter from a business on Harvard Street was spotted and identified. They were arrested and the stolen items were recovered. 

Friday, September 26

FOUND PROPERTY

A Samsung cell phone in a grey/blue case was found in the area of Robinson Playground (Cypress Street and Henry St). The cell phone is at the Brookline Police station for safekeeping. 

ID FRAUD

A walk-in report was taken at Brookline Police station regarding a possible identity theft following a data breach notification. 

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to Kent Street for a report of a package theft. The reporting party received a notification that their package was delivered to their building's foyer. When they checked for the package a couple hours later, it was gone.

Saturday, September 27

THEFT

An individual reported an incident of theft on Harvard St. 

SHOPLIFTING

A business on Beacon Street reported that a known individual was actively shoplifting. When officers responded to the scene, they located the guilty party and placed them under the arrest. 

Sunday, September 28

INDECENT EXPOSURE

An individual reported a case of indecent exposure on Washington St.
