Monday, September 1

CAR BREAK 

Officers responded to a reported breaking and entering at a car dealership on Boylston Street, where the suspect was believed to still be on scene. Upon arrival, the individual was found asleep inside a customer’s vehicle. Investigation revealed the suspect had unlawfully entered at least four vehicles over a two-day period, including the unauthorized use and return of one vehicle. The suspect was arrested.

SHOPLIFTING

A shoplifting incident was reported on Commonwealth Avenue after a suspect was observed concealing merchandise and fleeing the store. The individual was later identified through surveillance footage and apprehended by another law enforcement agency for an unrelated matter. They are also suspected of involvement in a previous theft from the same location and will be charged with shoplifting.

CHECK FRAUD

A case of check fraud was reported on Eliot St.

SHOPLIFTING

An individual was reported to be shoplifting at a business on Harvard St. The suspect was seen fleeing with stolen merchandise and later identified. The suspects were placed under arrest. 

Tuesday, September 2

SHOPLIFTING 

An employee at a store on Boylston Street reported a shoplifting.  

ANIMAL BITE

While at a park, an individual was bitten on the face by a dog and sustained a puncture wound as well as several scratches on their face. Prior to the incident, the victim had received confirmation from the owner that it was okay to pet their dog. The victim was treated at a hospital and the dog's owner was issued a citation. 

SHOPLIFTING

A shoplifting occurred on Commonwealth Avenue. The suspect was identified and will be summoned to court.

RECOVERED STOLEN MV 

The vehicle reported stolen on August 30th was found in Jamaica Plain. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A wallet was found on Cypress Street and turned into the Brookline Police Station.

An iPhone was found on Washington St. Officers placed it in evidence for safekeeping. 

Wednesday, September 3

PACKAGE THEFT

An individual reported a package theft after discovering that a delivery had been mistakenly sent to the wrong address on Netherlands Rd. When they located the package, it had been opened and the contents were missing. The incident was reported at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department.

PACKAGE THEFT

A package was reported to have been stolen from a mailroom on Washington St. The reporting party received a notification that their package was delivered, however they could not locate it in the mailroom. 

FRAUD

Officers responded to a report of fraud originating from Highland Road. The reporting party stated they had responded to an apartment listing and later paid a significant sum after viewing a unit in Brookline. After signing a lease and attempting to follow up, communication became inconsistent, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the transaction. Further research revealed prior complaints involving the same individual.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

Officers responded to a report of indecent exposure outside a workplace on Beacon Street.

Thursday, September 4

BIKE THEFT

Dispatch received a report of a bicycle theft from a residential parking area. The reporting party stated that their locked bike and two locks were stolen sometime the previous evening, despite the presence of nearby surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident. The suspect remains unknown, and a follow-up investigation has been requested to review any available footage and pursue leads.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

Officers were notified about a possible indecent exposure incident at a laundromat on Washington Street. Charges were filed.

THEFT

A report was filed of a past theft involving a laptop that was taken for repairs but not returned. The reporting party expressed concerns about the individual’s failure to return the item and previous related incidents. Attempts to contact the individual have been unsuccessful. 

Friday, September 5

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

Officers responded to a report of malicious destruction of property involving a political yard sign that had been removed and defaced twice within a week. The property owner suspects the acts may be motivated by bias. No direct evidence or surveillance footage currently identifies a suspect, and the matter has been referred for further investigation. 

FOUND PROPERTY

An iPhone was found on St Paul Street. The iPhone was placed in an evidence locker for safekeeping. 

Saturday, September 6

ABANDONED PROPERTY

An abandoned bicycle was located on Boylston St. It has been secured and is currently being stored at the Brookline Police Department for safekeeping.

LARCENY

Officers responded to a report of a past theft involving a missing piece of jewelry from a residence on Kent Street. 

SHOPLIFTING

An individual was caught shoplifting on Harvard Street and has been summoned to the Brookline District Court. 

LARCENY

A past theft was reported on Fuller Street, where a baby stroller and toy push car left in front of a residential building were discovered missing a few hours later.

LARCENY

A resident from Longwood Avenue reported that their wallet was likely stolen the night before while riding the train. Shortly after, a fraudulent transaction was attempted using their debit card. The reporting party froze their debit card and no further fraud has been reported. 

SHOPLIFTING

Three individuals caused a disturbance at a Beacon Street business, during which one stole items while taunting an employee. A similar incident occurred days earlier, though it's unclear if anything was taken at that time.

Sunday, September 7

LICENSE PLATE LARCENY

An individual reported that their license plate stolen, but they're unsure if the crime occurred on Commonwealth Avenue or Beaconsfield Rd. 

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers responded to Pleasant Street for a past package theft.
