AUTO ACCESSORY THEFT
An individual reported a stolen rental trailer from their business on Boylston St. The trailer was originally rented for one day; however, the renter has failed to return it.
DOG BITE
Officers responded to a past dog bite on Hamilton Street. An unvaccinated dog bit a child in the foot and broke the skin. The dog must be quarantined for 10 days. The owners were advised to consult a doctor, vaccinate and license the dog, and were informed that if the owner decides to euthanize the dog before quarantine ends, testing for rabies is required.
LARCENY
A church on Walnut St reported that property had been stolen.
Tuesday, August 26
ID FRAUD
An individual reported to the BPD front desk that they was experiencing fraud related to a bank account. The reporting party received a suspicious phone call, which they discussed with their bank. At that time, no fraudulent activity was found on their account. However, they later received a notification that their account password had been changed, prompting them to contact the bank again. It was then at they discovered that an out-of-state individual had gained access to their Social Security Number, bank accounts, and rewards points, and had changed the address on file. The reporting party had their accounts frozen and was advised to contact the Social Security Administration and Federal Trade Commission.
ASSAULT
Officers responded to Beacon St for an report of an assault. The reporting party was walking northbound on Harvard St when they were punched in the face with a closed fist by a unknown individual walking near them. The guilty party was summoned to the Brookline district court for assault and battery.
DOG BITE
An individual reported to the BKPD that their dog had been bitten by another dog while out on a walk. The reporting party stated that the other dog was off-leash and had acted aggressively in the past. The bitten dog was treated at a local animal hospital. The involved parties exchanged vaccination information, and the owner of the other dog agreed to cover veterinary expenses. Animal Control issued citations related to leash and bite violations.
SHOPLIFTING
Police responded to a shoplifting on Commonwealth Avenue. Three individuals matching the suspect descriptions were detained nearby. Surveillance footage confirmed their involvement in the incident. One suspect was found with concealed merchandise and is facing charges for shoplifting. Another suspect was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and required medical evaluation due to drug use. All involved parties were issued no trespass orders from the store.
THEFT
An individual reported a lost wallet at a local market on Chestnut St and an ensuing confrontation. The reporting party followed a suspect to her building, where a physical altercation occurred. Both parties denied wishing to press charges. Later, the wallet was returned to the building lobby. The incident remains under review.
SHOPLIFTING
A shoplifting was reported on Commonwealth Ave. The suspect was located nearby carrying stolen merchandise concealed in a reusable bag. They attempted to leave the store with multiple unpaid items. The individual was placed under arrest without incident and charged with shoplifting. All stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
LOOSE ANIMAL
A loose dog was turned into an officer stationed on the intersection Coolidge St and Harvard St. The dog was transferred to an animal hospital when the owner reached out to the officer. They met with the officer to get the dog vaccinated and microchipped on the spot.
Wednesday, August 27
MALICIOUS DAMAGE
When an officer was performing a building check on Francis St, they noticed that the glass of a second floor window was cracked in a spider web pattern. There was no further damage to the rest of the building and it appears as though the window was struck by an object, most likely by accident.
BAT COMPLAINT
A bat was reported within a residence on Thorndike St. The reporting party managed to trap the bat in a bedroom. The bat was transported for rabies testing which came back negative.
LOST PROPERTY
Officers responded to a report of a missing earring at a local hotel on Webster St. The reporting party believed the item may have been taken by a staff member but could not provide identifying information or confirm the loss. Management reported no suspicious activity or matching employee. The item was not recovered, and no further action was requested.
MALICIOUS DAMAGE
An altercation was reported in a residential parking lot involving several individuals on Harvard Avenue. A verbal dispute escalated when one party's personal property was damaged during the interaction. The situation was de-escalated without further incident. One individual was issued a summons in connection with the incident.
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
Suspicious activity was reported on Clinton Rd.
BIKE THEFT
A bike theft was reported on Sherman Rd. The reporting party shared that it was last left in the basement/garage of the apartment building.
LARCENY
An individual reported that their gardening equipment was stolen on Browne St. The reporting party typically keeps the equipment in front of their building.
Thursday, August 28
FOUND PROPERTY
A wallet was turned into the BPD. It was found on a bench located on Harvard St.
SHOPLIFTING
Officers responded to a report of a past shoplifting on Boylston St. Two unidentified individuals were observed on surveillance footage concealing merchandise and exiting without payment. The evidence was obtained, and the store was provided a case number for insurance purposes. No additional leads were identified at this time.
SHOPLIFTING
A past shoplifting was reported at a business on Commonwealth Avenue. The suspect was seen on surveillance footage concealing items in a backpack while alone in an aisle. Then the suspect proceeded to exit with the items in their backpack.
LARCENY
An individual reported that a black electric scooter was stolen from the front of a business on Harvard St.

An individual reported that items were stolen from their apartment on Mason Terrace.
CAR BREAK
Officers received report of a stolen briefcase from a car parked on Brookline Avenue.
SHOPLIFTING
Around 12 individuals were reported for shoplifting together on Thorndike St.
Friday, August 29
CHECK FRAUD
An individual contacted the Brookline Police Station to report a suspected case of check fraud. The reporting party stated that a check had been placed in a mailbox on South Street and was later cashed with an altered amount, payee, and date. The incident is under investigation.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Unauthorized charges were discovered on a credit card after it was last used at a parking meter in Brookline. The card was later used for a high-value transaction at a nearby store. The account was deactivated, and the issuing company was notified.
A case of malicious damage was reported on Harvard St. The front glass door to an apartment lobby had been shattered sometime overnight. The reporting party did not hear anything suspicious during the time frame in which it occurred.
GRAFFITI
An officer responded to the bridge over the MBTA tracks on Sumner Rd for a graffiti complaint.
MV THEFT
An individual reported that their car was stolen on Harvard St. The reporting party left the vehicle with the keys inside the ignition and returned to find it had been stolen.
Sunday, August 31
NOISE COMPLAINT
An individual on Washington Street reported shouting.
DISTURBANCE
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Harvard Street. The reporting party stated they were slapped by an unknown individual who then quickly exited the store. The area was checked, but the individual was not located.
