An individual shoplifted from a business located on Commonwealth Avenue.
PACKAGE THEFT
Officers received a report of a package theft from the front steps of a residence on Beacon Street. The reporting party had a large package delivered but was unable to retrieve it.

Tuesday, August 19
ID FRAUD
Two individuals reported identity fraud after receiving a notification that two lines had been added to their phone account. The transaction was conducted in person at a location on Beacon Street. The suspect used the reporting party's ID number to fraudulently purchase two new phones under their account.
PACKAGE THEFT
After multiple packages were delivered to a residence on High Street, an individual was seen removing them from the porch and quickly returning with them. The reporting party later discovered that one item was missing from one of the packages.
LARCENY
An individual on Washington Street reported that a potted plant was stolen from the front of their business.
CAR BREAK
Officers responded to a report of a stolen purse and phone from a parked vehicle on Boylston Street. The items were taken while the vehicle was left unattended in front of a local hotel. The victim was unsure if the vehicle had been locked. No suspect was observed, and no surveillance footage was available. The phone was later tracked to an area in Boston.

PACKAGE THEFT

A resident reported finding surveillance footage of an unidentified individual entering their property during early morning hours before leaving without apparent incident. No damage or theft was reported.
SHOPLIFTING
Officers responded to Harvard Street for a report of past shoplifting. The suspect concealed merchandise in a backpack and fled the store. Video footage and suspect information were collected for follow-up.

Officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for a known shoplifting suspect who had just fled the store with merchandise. The suspect was located and arrested.
Friday, August 22
CHECK FRAUD
A check fraud incident involving a check intended for a family member was reported to police. The check was fraudulently deposited through a mobile banking app under a forged name. Later, an attempt was made to cash the physical copy of the same check at a financial service location. The reporting party was able to stop the second attempt and was advised to follow up with the issuing institution and notify relevant parties about potential identity theft.
FRAUD
An individual reported to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department that they had been scammed through a phone and text message scheme by individuals posing as Xfinity representatives. The suspects, using multiple phone numbers, convinced the reporting party to purchase and provide information from several gift cards under the pretense of securing service discounts, processing payments, and issuing refunds. The suspects also threatened service interruption, legal action, and withheld promised refunds unless the gift cards were provided.
BIKE THEFT
Officers responded to Fairbanks Street for a report of theft. The reporting party left their unicycle unsecured in the basement and returned two and a half hours later to find that it was missing. There aren't any cameras located inside the basement or outside the building.
An individual was observed shoplifting at a business on Commonwealth Avenue and was subsequently taken into custody.
BIKE THEFT
A bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack on Harvard Street. The reporting party had secured the bike with a chain combination lock but later discovered that the lock had been removed and the bike was gone. It is currently unknown how the lock was removed.

PACKAGE THEFT
A package theft was reported from Washington St. The reporting party received a notification that their package was delivered and discovered that it was missing an hour later.
RECOVERED STOLEN PROPERTY
The bicycle reported stolen on August 23rd from Harvard Street was located in Boston. The individual found in possession of the bike stated they had purchased it from an unknown person and could not provide a name. The bike was confiscated and returned to the original owner.
