Monday, August 11

ANIMAL BITE

While jogging with friends, an individual was bitten by a passing dog.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

A case of suspicious activity on Fuller Street was reported to police. 

FRAUD

An individual approached the front desk of the Brookline Police Station to report that someone has taken out a car loan in their name. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

On Beacon Street, an individual was witnessed loitering outside a residence and using binoculars. 

BAT COMPLAINT 

Officers received a report of a bat exposure on Brook St. 

PERSON WITH KNIFE

An individual was spotted walking on Washington Street with a knife. 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A noise complaint was reported on Beacon St. 

Tuesday, August 12

ASSAULT WITH KNIFE

Officers responded to a report of a person with a knife chasing another individual on Pearl St. The guilty party was detained and placed under arrest. 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A dog was observed being walked without a leash on Hawes Street. Officers wish to remind all dog owners that dogs must be leashed while in public, in accordance with local regulations.

BAT COMPLAINT

Another bat was found in a resident's apartment on Columbia St. 

BAT COMPLAINT

A resident on Sergent Crossway reported a bat in their house. The reporting party was not exposed.  

FOUND PROPERTY

Ammunition was found on Newton Street and is at the Brookline Police Department for safekeeping. 

THEFT

An individual accidentally left their wallet at an office on Boylston Street and was later notified that it had been found and was available for pickup. Upon returning to retrieve the wallet, the individual discovered that the cash inside was missing.

SHOPLIFTING

A business on Harvard Street reported that an individual shoplifted multiple items from the store. 

ANIMAL BITE

While riding in an elevator on Sherman Road, an individual was bitten by a leashed dog without provocation. The bite broke the skin, prompting the individual to seek medical attention at urgent care. The dog's owner was issued a Town By-Law citation for the incident. 

BAT COMPLAINT

An individual on Toxteth Street reported that their cat had killed a bad inside their apartment. The caller was concerned about a possible rabies exposure from the bat. Massachusetts State Laboratory tested the bat's body for rabies and it came back negative.  

Wednesday, August 13 

FOUND PROPERTY

A set of keys with a small pepper spray cannister was handed over to the Brookline Police Department. The individual who turned them over stated they found the keys outside of Town Hall on Washington St. 

IDENTITY & CREDIT CARD FRAUD

An individual approached the front desk at the BKPD to report a case of identity theft and credit card fraud. The reporting party stated that they had been receiving phone calls from numerous collection agencies, initially believing they were scam calls. Later, the individual found out that their credit score had dropped significantly and found this suspicious. Next, they noticed that several accounts and credit cards were opened in their name. The reporting party notified the Federal Trade Commission of the fraudulent activity. 

LOST PROPERTY

An individual lost their Driver's License on Beacon St. 

Thursday, August 14

BAT COMPLAINT

Officers received a report of a bat exposure on Clearwater Rd. The bat was found within the reporting party's residence but tested negative for rabies. 

MALICIOUS DAMAGE 

During a verbal altercation involving three individuals on Washington Street, one of the parties deliberately seized another individual’s mobile phone and forcefully threw it onto the asphalt, causing significant damage to the device.

DISORDERLY PERSON

While driving on Harvard Street, two individuals became involved in a road rage incident. One party blocked traffic and physically assaulted the other by striking their vehicle and attempting to punch them. Based on witness statements, photographic evidence, and the individual’s own admission, they will be summonsed to court for Assault and Battery and Disorderly Conduct.

PACKAGE THEFT

An individual residing on Beacon Street reported that they were notified of a package delivery; however, the package was missing when they attempted to retrieve it the following morning.

Friday, August 15

LARCENY

A resident reported that, while away on vacation, an unknown individual may have entered their home and stolen several personal items. 

MALICIOUS DAMAGE 

Officers responded to a reported incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the intersection of Harvard and Babcock Street. A verbal dispute escalated after a near-traffic encounter. One party sustained minor injuries and was later found to have caused damage to the vehicle. The guilty party will be summonsed to court for property damage and disorderly conduct.

IDENTITY THEFT/FRAUD

An individual reported that an unknown party fraudulently opened accounts in their name using personal information. No unauthorized activity was found on the individual's legitimate accounts, and they have begun the process of reporting the incidents to the appropriate agencies.

Saturday, August 16

BIKE THEFT 

Officers received report of two stolen bicycles from the foyer of an apartment. 

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

A business on Harvard Street reported that a customer, after being asked to leave by an employee, became agitated and kicked the front door while exiting, shattering the glass.

BIKE THEFT 

An individual reported a bike theft from the back of an apartment building on Beacon Street. The owner locked the bike to a bike rack. 

Sunday, August 17

ID FRAUD 

An individual reported fraudulent activity involving the use of personal information and a fake ID to open accounts and change their banking details. One suspect attempted to use the victim's identity at a local bank and cell phone provider.

FOUND PROPERTY

A one-hundred dollar bill was found in the Coolidge Corner area and turned into the front desk at the BKPD. The money was placed into evidence for safekeeping. 

FRAUD 

Officers received a report of an online scam that occurred through Instagram direct messages. The reporting party was persuaded to send money and later realized it was a scam. After refusing to send additional funds, the scammer responded with threatening messages and images of weapons.

LARCENY 

An individual reported that their wallet was stolen on Harvard St. After their wallet was stolen, seven unauthorized charges were attempted on multiple of their credit cards. The reporting party was advised to monitor their accounts and continue to be in contact with their banks.
