On February 13, an officer was dispatched to the area of Saint Paul St. and Freeman St. for a report of a traffic crash. When conducting a Registry of Motor Vehicles check, it was discovered that one of the drivers had a revoked license. After the officer assisted the two parties in exchanging information, the driver with the revoked license was placed under arrest.
On February 13, an officer was dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of suspicious activity. A security guard reported that two men had entered the business and started asking suspicious questions before leaving. The matter is under investigation.

On February 12, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. with an expired inspection sticker. A check of the registration with the officer’s in-car computer confirmed it was expired and showed that the owner of the vehicle had an active warrant. The driver was stopped and placed under arrest for the warrant and cited for the expired inspection sticker.
On February 12, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. A store employee reported seeing a woman take several small items and place them into her handbag. The woman was cited for shoplifting and will be summoned to court.

On February 11, an officer observed a vehicle make a right turn onto Harvard St. from the middle lane of Beacon Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was only in possession of a learners permit and a search showed that the registration on the vehicle had been suspended. While speaking with the driver, the officer identified an odor of marijuana and found the driver in possession of less than one ounce. The driver was cited and will be summoned to court for not being duly licensed, operating after suspended registration, and making an improper turn. The driver was given a by-law citation for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and the vehicle was towed.
On February 11, dispatch received a call from a business on Beacon St. who wanted to report an incident of shoplifting. An employee of the store reported witnessing a man take an item and place it into a shopping bag he was carrying and leave the store. The matter is under investigation.

A man stated that he had received a voicemail on his phone from someone claiming to be from the IRS who said the man owed back taxes and needed to get in contact with him right away. It is believed that this call is part of a scam.
On February 8, an officer observed a man enter a store on Harvard St. and leave with two full bags that did not match the store exited. Officers observed the man place the bags into a car and re-enter the store with an empty bag. Employees confirmed that the merchandise had not been paid for and the man was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

On February 6, a man came into the Police Station to report a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The man stated that while his car was parked unlocked on Commonwealth Avenue, cash and a debit card were stolen. The matter is currently under investigation.
On February 6, a woman reported that she had been the victim of fraud. The woman stated that someone had hacked into her email account and sent a message to all of her contacts asking for money. The email said the woman was stuck out of town with no belongings and needed people to send Money-Grams.

The officers initiated a motor vehicle stop and upon approach to the vehicle could detect an odor of marijuana. The passenger was found to have marijuana as well as an electronic scale. The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, Class D and the driver was cited for failing to drive within a marked lane.
On February 4, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. make an unsafe lane change. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for passing unsafely and operating with an expired license.

Officers located the suspect in the rear parking lot and he will be summoned to Brookline District Court for shoplifting.

The search showed that the woman had a default warrant and she was placed under arrest.

A teller reported that a woman tried to cash a check and when the teller said she would need to review it with the manager, the woman fled. Investigation showed that the check in question had not been issued yet. The woman was located at another bank and placed under arrest for forgery and uttering.

On January 30, officers observed a vehicle speeding and changing lanes without signaling in an intersection on Beacon Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and could detect a strong odor of alcohol from the driver who also had red and glassy eyes. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, and failure to use a turn signal.
On January 30, an officer observed a vehicle turn right on red from Cypress St. to Boylston St. where a “No Turn on Red” sign is posted. The officer also noticed that the vehicle’s right rear taillight did not illuminate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and a query showed that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked and the operator’s license had been suspended. The driver was cited for operating after license suspension, operating an uninsured vehicle, unregistered vehicle, right turn on red prohibited by sign, and defective taillight.

The officer broadcasted information about the vehicle and it was spotted travelling on Boylston Street near Hammond Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which kept driving to avoid the police. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot and the suspect fled on foot. Officers caught the suspect and placed him under arrest. He was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating after suspension, marked lanes violation, speeding, and resisting arrest. The motor vehicle accident is being investigated by the State Police.

Employees had seen the suspect walking through the store with a full bag of groceries and attempt to leave through the rear entrance without paying. The suspect was stopped by an employee and he was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

The woman reported that she received a letter from her insurance provider in regards to approval for recent medications. When she contacted the insurance company, she was told that someone was using her information to pick-up prescriptions in various pharmacies.
On January 24, an officer observed a vehicle driving on Longwood Ave. with an expired inspection sticker and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be operating with a suspended license and was also cited for failure to submit motor vehicle for inspection, no registration in possession or easily accessible, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest.
On January 24, an officer was dispatched to Aspinwall Ave. for a larceny report. A woman stated that two large trash bins were stolen from the curb the day before.
On January 24, officers were dispatched to Harvard St. &
Longwood Ave. for a report of malicious damage. A woman stated that when
traveling on Harvard St. she began to make a left turn but had to quickly stop
for a pedestrian. The pedestrian then kicked the woman’s driver’s side view
mirror and walked away.
On January 25, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on
Beacon St. take a right on a red light. A query of the vehicle showed that the
registered owner had a suspended license and the officer conducted a motor
vehicle stop. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after
suspension and failure to stop at a red light.
On January 25, a woman reported a suspicious phone call to a
business on Brookline Avenue. An employee stated that she had received a call
from a man identifying himself as being from NStar disconnect. The man stated
that a payment was needed right away or the electricity would be shut off. The
employee said she would have to speak to her supervisor and ended the call. The
caller was unable to be reached.
On January 25, an employee at a business on Cypress St. received
a suspicious phone call. The man reported a call from someone claiming to be
from NStar who said the business had an outstanding bill and a payment needed
to be made. The employee terminated the call and contacted the police. The
police contacted the caller and were able to confirm that the call was a scam.On January 25, a woman reported receiving a suspicious phone call. The woman stated that she received a call from an unidentified male who said the woman’s brother was being held against his will. The man said that she needed to pay him or he would kill her brother. Refusing to give more information, the caller hung up and never called back.
On January 26, while monitoring traffic at the intersection
of Beacon St. and Washington St., officers smelled a strong odor of burnt
marijuana. The officers approached two males who appeared to be smoking and
asked for identification. One of the males fled, was found, and was taken into
custody. Both males were issued citations for possession of less than one ounce
of marijuana.
On January 26, officers were dispatched to a business on Commonwealth
Ave. for an alarm. Officers found the doors open and a male lying on the floor.
The man appeared lethargic and unsure of his previous whereabouts. A search of
the man and his backpack yielded drug paraphernalia, marijuana, prescription
pills, and mail addressed to people other than the suspect. The male was placed
under arrest for Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Felony, possession
of a Class E drug, possession of a Class A drug, and receiving stolen property.
The suspect was also issued a citation for marijuana possession.
On January 26, a woman reported her debit card number had
been stolen. The woman’s card had been put on hold after two suspicious charges
that the woman had not made. This matter is currently under investigation.
On January 26, an officer reported to Harvard St. for a
report of larceny. A woman stated that while sitting in a restaurant, her purse
had been stolen. The police were able to track the woman’s cell phone and find
her purse in a trash barrel. The only thing that appeared to be missing was
cash.
On January 26, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a
larceny report. A man had been seen in a store placing items into two shopping
bags. When the suspect moved towards the exit without paying, he was stopped by
an employee. The suspect put the bags on the floor and left. A man matching the
suspect’s description was located on a bus and taken into custody for
shoplifting.
On January 26, officers were dispatched to Netherlands Rd.
at Aspinwall Ave. for a report of a vehicle driving into the park. Officers approached
the vehicle and shouted instructions to the operator to stop. The operator
failed to comply and an officer opened the passenger side door and forced the
vehicle into park. The driver was uncooperative and smelled strongly of liquor and
he was placed in handcuffs once outside of the vehicle. Leaning against a
police unit, the suspect began to kick officers and was placed in leg shackles.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with violation of one way,
operating to endanger, reckless destruction of property, leaving the scene of
property damage, failure to stop for police officer, operating under the

On January 21, a woman came to the Brookline Police Department to report an incident of assault and battery. The woman stated that she had been walking on Washington St. when a bicyclist was traveling towards her on the sidewalk. After informing the cyclist that he shouldn’t be riding on the sidewalk, he stopped in front of the woman and after arguing, threatened to punch her in the face. The cyclist threw the woman’s coffee into the street and the woman grabbed the bicycle to prevent the man from leaving. The bicyclist pushed the woman in the face and rode away.
On January 21, officers responded to the Trader Joe’s on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee reported seeing a woman place two items into a bag and hide them under her coat. The woman will be summoned to Brookline District Court for Shoplifting.
On January 21, police were dispatched to the Starbucks on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. It was reported that a man had removed money from the tip jar and fled.
On January 22, an officer queried a vehicle traveling on Beacon Street. The search revealed that the vehicle had a revoked registration and that the plates were registered to a black Dodge Durango while the vehicle was in fact a brown Chevy Malibu. On January 17, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Beacon St. and Washington St. for a car crash. Witnesses to the crash stated that a white vehicle had been speeding and ran a red light, hitting another vehicle. When speaking to the operator of the white vehicle, officers detected an odor of alcohol and slurred speech. The driver was taken into custody and is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, red light violation, speeding, and operating to endanger.
On January 17, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a traffic crash. One vehicle had collided with a second vehicle, pushing it onto a curb, over a street sign and into a street lamp. Officers spoke to the operator of the first vehicle and observed the driver to have glassy and bloodshot eyes and an odor of liquor. The driver was taken into custody and cited with operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, and a marked lanes violation.
On January 17, officers responded to the CVS on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee of the store had seen a man taking items from the shelves and placing them into his jacket and pants pockets. The suspect was located and taken into custody for shoplifting.
On January 17, an employee of a rental vehicle company reported a fleet vehicle stolen. It was reported that the vehicle was taken the day before from the rear of the rental building.
On January 17, an officer responded to an apartment building on Boylston St. for a report of larceny. The resident of one of the units reported that upon arrival back from his winter vacation, he noticed multiple items missing from his bedroom. The other resident of the unit reported that cash was stolen from the backpack in his bedroom.
On January 17, residents of an apartment on Kent St. reported an incident of vandalism. An officer reported to the scene and the residents showed that their front window’s exterior pane of glass had been broken.
On January 18, a woman reported that her specialized road bike had been stolen from her storage bin in a garage on Hammond Pond Parkway.
On January 19, officers responded to a parking lot behind a building on Washington St. A witness informed the officers that a pickup truck with a plow on the front had struck two parked vehicles on Washington St. and had left the scene. The officers spoke to the driver of the pickup truck and observed a knife clipped to his pants which officers secured for safety purposes. The knife was found to be double-sided and spring loaded causing it to be considered a per se dangerous weapon. The driver was placed under arrest and marijuana, cocaine and heroin were found on his person.
On January 20, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Harvard St. with an expired registration sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts was expired. The driver was issued a citation and his vehicle was towed.
On January 20, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Longwood Ave. for a report of counterfeit money being exchanged for an iPad mini. The resident had placed an ad on Craigslist to sell an iPad mini. Someone had responded to the ad and they had met and made the exchange, iPad for cash. The bills were not accepted at an ATM causing the man to report it to the police who observed the bills to be fake.

A woman stated that upon flying back to Logan International Airport, her bag had not made the flight and she was told it would be delivered to her residence upon its arrival in Boston. In the early hours of January 16, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. who failed to dim their high beams with the approach of an oncoming vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was unable to provide his registration, license, or any identification. It was discovered that the driver had provided false information to the officer and a BOP query showed that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and an active straight warrant. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with failure to dim high beams to oncoming traffic, providing false name/DOB to police officers, and operating a MV after license suspension.
On January 16, an officer observed a vehicle on Sherrin Rd. that was running with its parking lights on. The two occupants appeared to be acting suspicious and when they exited the vehicle, the officer approached them and asked for their ID’s. During the interaction, the officer detected an odor of marijuana and nervous behavior. One of the men was found to be carrying marijuana and was cited for possessing less than 1 oz. of marijuana.
On January 16, an officer responded to a report of larceny at a building on Heath Street. A woman spoke to the officer and stated that a wallet had been stolen from a resident’s purse which she keeps in her living room. The same woman had reported her wallet stolen out of her room in December.

Officers spoke to two residents of the home who were underage and entered the home to investigate more underage drinking. Officers witnessed 50-70 people, 3 kegs of beer, multiple bottles of vodka, and a small baggy of marijuana all in plain sight. Both residents were issued Town By Law citations for violating the Town’s Nuisance Ordinance and will be charged with minor in possession of alcohol and disturbing the peace. One of the residents is being cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On January 15, officers responded to a building on Freeman St. for a complaint of people smoking marijuana. Upon arrival, the smell of burnt marijuana was evident in the elevator and there was a haze of smoke in the hallway. When a resident came to the door, the officers were able to see multiple jars of a green leafy substance in plain sight. The officers entered the apartment and advised all four parties of their rights. The matter is currently under investigation.
On January 15, officers responded to an alarm from Blue Hills Bank on Beacon St. where a robbery had occurred. A man had entered the bank and approached one of the tellers at which point he pulled out a note and demanded money. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30’s with an average build. He wore large dark sunglasses, a dark tan coat, a hat covering his head and ears, and heavy gloves. On January 14, an officer was flagged down by a motorist who wanted to report an accident. The man stated that he had witnessed a vehicle driving on a traffic median and hitting a sign before driving off on Boylston St. The man had followed the vehicle to the Cleveland Circle and gave officers the license plate number. Officers verified the incident and got in contact with the driver.
On January 14, a vehicle making a left turn from Beacon St. to Marion St. hit a pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. The pedestrian refused assistance from the paramedics and was taken home and the driver was issued a citation for failure to stop for a pedestrian crosswalk.
