Home Invasion on Walnut Street

11:29PM: Police were dispatched to Walnut Street for a report of a home invasion. The reporting party stated that two white men in masks attacked him with a shotgun. The reporting party and his friend were in the apartment when they heard a hard pounding on the back door. When they opened the door, two masked men pointed a shotgun at them and forced their way into the home. An altercation ensued and the men were able to push the suspects back into the hallway and then into a window. The suspects fled. It appears this was an isolated incident. Both subjects have been located and are facing charges. While on scene Officers discovered an illegal grow operation of marijuana plants in the apartment. The residents/victims are also facing charges.

Tuesday, April 9th

8:40AM: Police were dispatched to Sewall Avenue for a report of past attempted larceny from a building. At 7:30am the reporting party noticed several boxes in the lobby that had been opened and the contents strewn about the floor. The man stated that he remembers seeing the boxes, unopened and neatly stacked in the lobby at 9pm the previous night. It was determined that some of the contents from the boxes appear to be missing. Access to the area where the boxes were kept requires a key. Police are investigating.

9:24AM: Officers were dispatched to Carton Street for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told police that this morning, at 8:30am, he noticed a political sign missing from his lawn. Other neighbors have signs in front of their property and it appears the reporting party was targeted specifically. This case is under investigation.

4:00PM: Police officers responded to an assault in a business on Boylston Street. The owner of the store stated that at 2pm a man entered the store and began yelling and threatening him. The suspect then attempted to steal a jacket from the store’s sale rack but was stopped by the owner. The reporting party asked the man to leave and the suspect started to throw merchandise across the store. The man fled before police arrived. The suspect was later identified and summoned to court for assault, disorderly, and shoplifting.

Monday, April 8th

3:59PM: A citizen came to the police station to report a larceny from his vehicle. The reporting party stated that on Sunday, April 7^th at approximately 12pm he parked his rental car near Washington Street and Brookline Avenue. He left his cell phone in the unlocked rental car. When he returned at 1pm, the phone was missing. The item is a black and white Google Pixel XL2. This is under investigation.

6:33PM: Officers were dispatched to an apartment building on Beacon Street for the report of trespassing. Upon arrival officers were advised that a woman, known to the reporting party, was found sleeping in one of the units. The reporting party was unsure of how the woman gained entry to the building and the apartment. Officers made contact with the woman in the unit and also discovered a man in the room as well. The woman suspect has been served multiple orders for “No Trespassing” in the past and was arrested for said charge.

Sunday, April 7th

2:12AM: Police were dispatched to Saint Paul Street for suspicious activity. Two tenants both reported hearing someone open their front door and enter the house. Before either roommate could say anything, the suspect retreated back to the front door and left the area. Police searched the apartment, and surrounding area, but did could not locate anyone. Nothing in the apartment appears to be missing.

2:15AM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for an assault and battery. The reporting party told police he asked his roommate’s girlfriend to leave their apartment. She refused and an argument ensued. The verbal argument led to a physical altercation where the reporting party was scratched in the face. The female will be summonsed to court for assault and battery.

Saturday, April 6th

11:38AM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for a larceny report. Two cashiers told police that at 11:29am, they noticed a white male, approximately 5’8, enter the store wearing a black jacket and a blue and white hat with a pom pom. He quickly grabbed a black leather briefcase off a shelf and fled before either cashier could identify or stop him. The employees had never seen the man before and he did not make any purchases. This case is under investigation.

3:48PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for shoplifting. The loss prevention employee noticed a woman “shoveling” items into two bags. The woman left the store and the employee followed her. Police caught up to the suspect and found she had stolen numerous items of clothing. The clothing was returned to the store. The suspect was served with a “No Trespass Order” and will be summonsed to court for shoplifting.

9:32PM: Police were dispatched to Commonwealth Avenue for larceny.  Two parties informed officers that they had their personal belongings stolen from a storage closet located in the rear of the businesses. The storage closet door, which is usually locked, was unlocked at the time the victims noticed their items missing. A rear garage door which could be used for entry, was also half-way open at this time. One of the parties remembered last seeing her property in the secured closet at approximately 5pm. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the incident.

Friday, April 5th

4:17PM: Police were dispatched to Sewall Avenue for a past package theft. The reporting party arrived home at 3:30pm. She noticed the package but could not retrieve it. Her husband arrived home at 4:10pm, and on his way in to the apartment noticed the package to be torn open. The reporting party went to inspect the package and noticed three items of clothing missing. Police are investigating.

Thursday, April 4th

11:02AM: Police were dispatched to Claflin Road for a dog bite. The reporting party stated that he was walking his dog when he was approached by his neighbor and their dog. The neighbor’s dog jumped up to the reporting party and bit him on the left knee. There was bruising and redness to the man’s leg. The neighbor’s dog is registered with the town and up to date on his rabies vaccination. The neighbor was issued a citation for his dog.

3:32PM: A citizen came to the Police Department to report the larceny of his cell phone. The reporting party told officers that he lost his phone at Coolidge Corner School sometime between 12:30pm and 2:30pm. The last known location of the phone was in the school’s library. This case is being investigated.

Wednesday, April 3rd

5:06PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a past package theft. The reporting party told police that at 6:40pm on Thursday, March 28^th, an Amazon package was delivered to the vestibule of her building. When she arrived back home at 8:15pm, the package was missing. The package contained a Chromebook laptop.  This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, April 2nd

6:08PM: Police were dispatched to Dean Road for a package theft. The reporting party told officers that at 3:45pm, two packages were delivered to his residence by Amazon. After reviewing surveillance footage it was determined that at 5:37pm, a man got out of a blue minivan, walked up to the door, and grabbed the two packages. The man then left the area. The suspect is described as wearing a white, yellow, and dark blue or black striped sweatshirt with matching pants, and the word “MOTORSPORTS” written across the chest.  Police are investigating.

Monday, April 1st

3:55AM: Officers were dispatched to Park Street for a report of bat exposure. The reporting party told police that on Sunday, March 31^st at around 11am, she felt something on her head. She swatted away what turned out to be a bat. The reporting party killed the bat and transported herself to the hospital for medical attention. Police later collected the deceased bat for rabies testing.

7:58AM: Police met with a Brookline Parks Department employee who was reporting a graffiti complaint. The employee pointed out a wall near Halls Pond where the graffiti was. It appeared as if someone had been sleeping in the area. This is under investigation.

4:13PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of a package theft. The reporting party told police that he ordered a computer keyboard through the Apple store. The delivery system told him his package would be delivered by 5pm on Monday, April 1^st. At 3:39pm, he received a message alerting him that the package had been delivered. When he arrived home at approximately 4 pm the package was missing. Police are investigating.

4:29PM: An Officer was dispatched to Brookline Fire Station 5 (Babcock Street) for the report of a burglary. A locker in the fire station was tampered with. On Sunday, March 31^st, a firefighter noticed a padlock to his locker was broken. The locker appeared to be entered and its contents rifled through. The locker was last seen intact on Thursday, March 28^th at 8am. Nothing appears to have been stolen. Police are investigating.

Sunday, March 31st

10:55AM: Police were dispatched to Walnut Street for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party told officers that on Saturday, March 30^th, he parked in the same spot he has been parking in for years. This morning, a neighbor came over to tell him about the new damage she noticed on his vehicle. The left side rear panel is broken. The reporting party does not know anyone who would want to vandalize his property. There are cameras are in the area. Police are investigating 

12:54PM: A citizen came to the Police Station to report malicious damage of his vehicle. The reporting party told officers that on Sunday, March 31^st he parked his car on Chestnut Street at approximately 8am. When the party returned at 12pm, he noticed three large scratches on the passenger side of the vehicle. Officers determined the damage to be from a key. The reporting party does not know anyone who would cause damage to his vehicle. Police are investigating.

3:23PM: A woman reported a larceny from her residence. She told police that she was packing up her apartment on Beacon Street when she noticed a few rings missing from her jewelry box. The reporting party last wore the rings in July of 2018. There were other pieces of jewelry in the box but the items taken were the only items of value. This case is under investigation.

Friday, March 29th

4:54PM: Police were dispatched to Woodland Road for a past larceny. The reporting party noticed a copper drainpipe missing from the front of his residence. The drainpipe was last seen on February 28^th, 2019. The pipe is approximately twelve feet long. Police are investigating.

Thursday, March 28th

3:40PM: Police were dispatched to Harvard Street for a shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, Officers noticed a woman near the pharmacy that was concealing hair products. The woman had been given a verbal no-trespassing agreement about 2 months ago. The suspect was placed under arrest for shoplifting and trespassing.

Wednesday, March 27th

2:32PM: Officers were dispatched to Browne Street for a disturbance. The reporting party told police that she noticed a woman peering into her passenger-side window. When the reporting party asked the woman if she needed any help, the suspect began to yell and scream aggressively. Then the suspect went behind the car and began to bend the woman’s license plate. The suspect will be summonsed to court for malicious damage and simple assault.

Tuesday, March 26th

4:09PM: Police were dispatched to Washington Street and Brookline Avenue for a report of a man brandishing a knife. The reporting party told officers that she saw a man approaching vehicles and asking for money. A dark-colored BMW was directly in front of the reporting party’s car. The woman noticed the man slash the tires of the car when the driver refused to give the suspect any money. Police attempted to locate the driver of the BMW but they were unsuccessful. The suspect is described as a slim black male in his 50’s. The following day, Wednesday the 27^th, Police received calls about two men that were threatened with a knife. Based on these incidents, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of this armed suspect.

Monday, March 25th

6:15 AM: Police were dispatched to Payson Road to take a report of a past Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. The reporting party stated that someone had entered his car overnight and rummaged through it. He stated that the vehicle was left unsecured at 11PM on Sunday (3/24) and he returned to his vehicle on Monday at 6 AM. At this time nothing appears to be missing. Police are investigating.

Sunday, March 24th

12:18 PM: An Officer was dispatched to Craig Place to take a report of larceny of a bicycle. The reporting party stated that he was sitting in his living room and observed a man enter his backyard. A short time later he noticed that his bike was missing and presumed the man stole it. The bike, a blue Diamondback 18 speed, was left unsecured in the yard. Police are investigating.

Saturday, March 23rd

8:45 AM: Police were dispatched to Marshall Street to take a report of past malicious damage to a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that her rear window was broken. It appeared that no entry to the vehicle was gained. The reporting party stated that she had a verbal altercation with a tow truck driver the day before regarding a parking spot, and believes he may have something to do with the damage. Police are investigating.

1:03 PM: Police were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for the report of Shoplifting. Upon arrival Officers were informed by lost prevention that they observed a man place several items into a gym bag and then go into a changing room. The man emerged from the changing room holding several items and went to check out. He paid for the items in his hand and made his way to the exit. A lost prevention officer stopped the man and discovered several stolen items concealed in the man’s gym bag (valued just under $100). The man was arrested for Shoplifting.

Friday, March 22nd

4:30 PM: An Officer was dispatched to a residence on Harvard Street to take a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that cash was missing from his wallet and his bedroom. He believes that sometime between Thursday at 4:30 PM and Friday at 10:30 AM someone came to his apartment and stole the money. He states that he believes he locked the door to his residence. Police observed no signs of forced entry. This case is under investigation.

Thursday, March 21st

12:59 PM: Police were dispatched to Kent Street for a report of a past Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle. The resident’s vehicle was parked in their driveway and was last entered on March 20 at approximately 2PM. The reporting party returned to the vehicle at 9AM (on 3/21) and discovered items in the vehicle were out of place and her center console storage compartment was opened. The owner reported that the transponder to her garage was missing, but nothing else. Police are investigating.

4:53 PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for the report of shoplifting. An Officer arrived on scene and met with store staff who reported that they observed a male in an aisle attempting to conceal items by putting them in a shopping bag he was carrying. The Officer observed the man in the aisle and witnessed him continue to place items in the bag as the employees had reported. The Officer, who was in full police uniform, approached the man. The suspect then put the bag down and began to walk away. The Officer informed the man that he had witnessed him place several items into his bag. After a brief investigation, the man was advised that he was going to be placed under arrest for shoplifting. Officers attempted to place handcuffs on him, but the suspect resisted. A brief struggle ensued, and officers were able to gain control of the suspect’s arms and place him into custody. Officers determined that the suspect had 50 bottles of nail polish in his bag valued at over $500. The suspect is charged with Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest.
