August 16, 2019

At approximately 12:45 PM Officers responded to a call of a stolen bicycle on Walnut Street. Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who informed police that last time she saw her bicycle was on August 14th when the bike was on her back porch. When she returned to the back porch on the August 16th it was missing. Police are investigating.

August 17, 2019

At approximately 6:00 PM a resident came into the police station to report a theft of her handbag. The reporting party stated that at 5:10 PM she was at a workout facility on Harvard Street when she noticed her purse was taken from an unsecured cubby hole. The reporting party was notified of fraudulent charges on her credit card and was advised to contact the credit bureaus of her banks to report the incident. Police are investigating.   

August 18, 2019

Officers were dispatched to a restaurant on Beacon Street for the report of a stolen purse. The reporting party told police that she sat at a table near the entrance and her purse slung over the back of her chair. At some point she noticed her purse was missing and asked the manager to review the security camera footage. Upon review, the security footage showed the suspect entered the restaurant and removed the purse from the back of the chair and then proceeded to the restroom. The suspect then exited the building. The reporting party was advised. Police requested a copy of the camera footage from the business.

August 13, 2019

At approximately 12:09 PM an Officer was working a paid detail near Brookline Village and was approached by an unknown person. This person was not wearing a shirt or shoes and was inquiring where the closest attorney’s office was. The Officer supplied the man with the information, but was concerned for the man’s mental health well-being. The officer identified the man and discovered the he had an active warrant out of Brighton District Court. The man was placed under arrest.

At approximately 1:00 PM Officers responded to Marion Street for the report of a resident who captured a bat in their apartment. When officers arrived on scene they collected the captured bat and sent it to the Massachusetts State Laboratory for rabies testing.

August 14, 2019

At approximately 6:25 PM Officers responded to a call of a citizen chasing someone who stole his bike near the Pond Avenue and Washington Street. The bike had been stolen on Sunday and the victim recognized it as his bike. Officers were able to stop the suspect, who admitted it wasn't his bike, and it was returned to the owner. It was determine that the suspect would not be charged with a crime due to his age, cooperative attitude, lack of criminal history and the fact that the victim did not want to pursue the matter.

August 15, 2019

At approximately 2:30 AM officers responded to a bat call on Warwick Road. The reporting party stated that she awoke to find a bat flying around her bedroom. The bat was not able to be located. Due to the possibility of exposure officers filled out a rabies exposure form and advised the reporting party of the precautions she should take.

August 12, 2019

At approximately 7:00 AM Officers were dispatched to a construction site on Auburn Street for a report of stolen tools. Once on scene Officers met with the reporting party who informed Police that he had arrived at work at approximately 6:10 AM and left his bag of tools next to the back door of the site and left to find a parking spot. When he returned around 6:20 AM his tools were missing. Police are investigating.

At 5:10 PM a citizen came into the police station with a suspicious metal box that was discovered on Winchester Street. The box had writing on the side that said "Open Me". The box contained a note which read: "Today fortune strikes. You've found yourself lucky enough to come across this box. You can keep the treasure it holds." This box was empty, but ones like it have been found containing money. It appears to be part of a global "social experiment" and boxes like this have been found in other cities in the United States and around the globe.

August 11, 2019

At Approximately 4:25 PM Police were dispatched to Park Street to a report of graffiti on a property. Once on scene the reporting party lead Officers to the rear of the property and showed them a yellow spiral painted onto the wall. Officers took photos of the graffiti and a follow up is planned.

At approximately 5:54 PM Officers were dispatched to Leverett Street to a report of a bat in a residence. Once on scene Officers met with the reporting party who informed police that she was putting on her shoes, and when she put her foot into one of the shoes she felt an animal, that she identified as a bat hiding in her shoe. The bat was captured and sent to the Massachusetts State Laboratory for rabies testing. 

At 9:52 PM Officers responded to a report of a dispute at the Village train station. Once on scene officers attempted to separate two parties who were having a verbal altercation. While attempting to keep the parties apart, one of the suspects pushed past police, swatting an officer’s arm away. Officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. After repeated failed attempts to identify and get the suspect to cooperated with police he was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Public Official and Resisting Arrest.

August 9, 2019

At approximately 8:30 AM police were dispatched to Brook Street for a report of a bat in a home. Officers made contact with the reporting party, who told police that she saw the bat flying around in her house when she woke up. The bat was captured and transported to the Massachusetts State Laboratory to be tested for rabies.

August 7, 2019

At approximately 11:45 AM Officers were dispatched to Codman road to take a report of a larceny from a residence. The reporting party met with officers and informed them his lawnmower had been stolen over the weekend. The lawn mower was left outside of the garage and was the only thing reported stolen. 

August 8, 2019

At approximately 3:20 AM Officers responded to a report of a large tree down across the road on Heath Street from last night’s storm. The tree damaged fences of surrounding property. Brookline Forestry and the Department of Public Works removed the tree from the road a short time later. 

At approximately 3:00 AM a bat entered home, the next morning theA Brookline resident found a dead bat in their home. The body of the bat was found in the house near two pet cats. The bat was submitted to the State lab for rabies testing and both cats were up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

August 2nd, 2019

At approximately 6:42 PM officers were dispatched to the Driscoll School for a report of three teenage males breaking windows at the school. When officers responded to the call they met with the reporting party who called who showed officers pictures that he had taken of the three teens. Shortly after showing police the pictures, BPD found three teenagers walking up evens Road who matched the description. All three teens were stopped and read their rights. The teens were in possession of a small user amount of Marijuana, and admitted to police that they had just smoked. 

The teens were then released to the custody of their parents after being summonsed to court for vandalism and possession of marijuana as a minor.  

August 3rd, 2019

On July 3rd at 9:39 AM Police were called to Harvard Street for a shoplifting that had just happened. When Officers got on scene they spoke to the manager who told police that a young male had just been in the store and was wandering the store for several minutes. The suspect then grabbed bottles of soap, underwear, socks and some shirts before running out the back door and fleeing on a bike. 

Pictures of the suspect from security cameras have been passed onto law enforcement.

August 4th, 2019

At approximately 6:22 PM Officers were dispatched to Stearns Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. When on scene the reporting party told police that they had parked on the street before seeing a movie, and when she returned after seeing the movie her car was missing. Officers checked to see if there was a record of the car being towed, and found no record. The car was reported stolen and police searched for any security cameras that had a view of where the vehicle was parked.

On July 29th at approximately 5:42 PM Officers were dispatched to Beacon street to respond to a report of a stolen bicycle. When on scene Officers spoke to the reporting party that informed BPD officers that he had locked his bike in the rack in front of his residence in the days prior but noticed it missing and reported it stolen to police.

The reporting party is working with management to get security camera footage and the case will be followed up on by the Detective Division.

July 30th, 2019

On July 30th, Officers responded to a report of a break-in in progress at Brookline High school. Custodians reported seeing a person climbing into the school through a window and yelled at the person to stay out. The person then took off running towards Cypress street. The person was eventually spotted by police after a description of the individual was sent out and he was stopped and eventually placed into handcuffs and taken back to the station.

The suspect is a juvenile who is known to BPD, and was released into the custody of their parents and subsequently summonsed to court.

At approximately 11:50 AM Brookline Police responded to a report of an altercation between two dogs at Buckminister Road. The reporting party stated that they were walking their dog past a friends house and saw someone sitting on the stoop of the house around a corner with only their feet visible. Thinking that it was the reporting party's friend, they approached the person and rounded the corner to discover an unknown person with their dog who sat down to take a rest. The two dogs then got into a scuffle and one was bitten by the other.

Both dogs were registered in Brookline and were up to date on their vaccinations, because of this and the fact that both owners decided it was just an accident, no citations were issued. However the dog that bit the other dog was subject to a mandatory 10 day precautionary quarantine.

Officers responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on University Road. The reporting party informed police that they had last seen their bicycle locked up in front of their home at 8:30 PM. When they had returned to the area around 9:15 PM the bike was missing. Police are investigating.

Sunday July 28, 2019

Officers responded to a report of a disabled motor vehicle on High street. The vehicle was stopped on a steep incline. The driver informed police that he was experiencing what appeared to be a transmission issue and could not move the vehicle. The driver put the vehicle into “park” exited the vehicle, the vehicle then began to roll downhill. The rolling vehicle then bumped into a police cruiser, preventing it from going further down the hill. There was no damage to the police cruiser.

A Brookline resident came to the station to report a larceny from their vehicle that happened the day before. The reporting party left her vehicle parked on Kent street at approximately 8 AM. When they returned to their vehicle at 6 PM she discovered that a phone charger and coin purse were missing and items in the car were moved around.Detectives attempted to collect finger prints from the vehicle.

At approximately 10:50 AM Officers responded to a report that a stroller that was stolen from Cypress street. The reporting party had parked their car to pick-up their children from daycare. After placing the children in the car the reporting party forgot the stroller on the sidewalk. When they realized their mistake they returned and the stroller was missing.

At approximately 1:15 PM officers were working a detail at NETA dispensary and encountered 3 individuals near Boylston street that were illegally smoking marijuana that they just purchased at the dispensary.


After identifying the individuals and it was determined that two of the three had active warrants. Officers searched the individual and discovered several fake hundred dollar bills with Chinese writing on them.

 In addition to their warrants, all three individuals received citations for public marijuana consumption.

July 15, 2019

At 10:17 AM officers responded to a call of a dog hit by a motorist at Brookline Avenue. Once on scene police spoke to the driver who informed police that he was driving northbound on Brookline Avenue when a small dog ran of the Brookline Avenue Park and under his vehicle while he was traveling. Officers interviewed the passengers of the vehicle who confirmed the story of the driver.

The dog was pronounced dead at the VCA Animal hospital. The driver was not found responsible for the accident based on reports from all individuals involved and no citations were issued.

At 8:00 PM Officers responded to a call of a bat inside of a residence. The animal was trapped by the reporting party and was turned over to police who submitted the animal for rabies testing. The individuals were included in the report for exposure to the animal.

July 16, 2019

At 1019 hours Brookline Officers responded to a report of malicious damage on Cumberland Avenue. The reporting party stated that he was at the residence on the 13th and everything checked out, however when he returned to the property on the 16th he noticed the front middle window of the residence was shattered. There was no sign of entry onto the property and the windows have been boarded up. Police are investigating.

At 4:31 PM Officers were dispatched to Washington Street for a report of a stolen package from the mail. The reporting party informed police that when she arrived home at 3:45 PM she noticed an opened package on her doorstep with the contents missing. The package was marked as delivered at 1:31 PM. Police are investigating.

July 17, 2019

At approximately 7:00 PM a Brookline resident reported that her vehicle was broken into on Clyde Street, and 4 credit cards and cash had been stolen out of her purse. Police are investigating.

July 19-22

July 19, 2019


At approximately 8:15 AM Brookline Police responded to a report of a man asleep with a bag on his head on the grass near the Longwood MBTA train stop. Once on scene officers checked on the health of the individual to make sure he did not need medical attention.


Officers identified the man and determined that he had multiple warrants out for his arrest. When he was being placed in handcuffs the suspect began to flee.


The foot chase continued to the Longwood Towers apartment complex where the suspect ran though the building and exited through the rear, and then jumped a fence into a backyard on Colchester Street. The foot chase continued in backyards to Hawes Road where the suspect jumped another fence and continued to flee from police. The chase proceeded to the Emerald Necklace pathway and the suspect made a turn towards the river and jumped in. The suspect then swam to an island in the center of the river and refused commands to return to shore.


A perimeter was set up by Brookline Police, assisted by Boston Police, Boston University Police and MA State Police.

Brookline fire was also contacted for assistance in the form of an inflatable boat used to reach the island where the suspect was found hiding from Police under a tree. He was then placed under arrest.


July 21, 2019


On July 21st at approximately 2:31 PM Brookline Police responded to a report of a dog bite on Wolcott Road.

The reporting party stated that he was a delivery man for Amazon and that while he was delivering a package outside of a residence, he was bitten by a small dog on the leg.

The reporting party denied medical attention from paramedics.


There was no evidence of malicious intent and the case was transferred to animal control and a follow up investigation will be conducted on the incident
.

The dog was up to date of all of its vaccinations and no citations were issued to the owner.

July 10th

July 10, 2019

Officers responded to a report of a dog bite at a park on Brookline Avenue at approximately 12:50 PM where a town employee was using a weed whacker on the field when he was charged by two Labrador and was bitten by one of the dogs on his left leg. He then proceeded to run from the dogs through the bushes, resulting in minor scratches on his arms in addition to the bite on his leg.

The victim declined medical attention from paramedics.

 The dog was up to date on all of its rabies vaccinations but was still placed into a 10 day mandatory quarantine period conducted by the Brookline Health Department, and the owner was issued a citation for the attack.

                                                                                                                                                                

At approximately 4:16 PM while on patrol around Beacon Street, officers recognized a suspect they knew to have an active warrant out of Waltham District Court for his arrest.

 Officers contacted dispatch to confirm their suspicions about the active warrant, and after confirming the suspect was wanted, they placed him under arrest without incident.

July 3rd to July 9th

At approximately 9:00 AM officers responded to a report of a dog bite on Dean RD. Once on scene, the reporting party informed officers that she was charged by a Chocolate Labrador at the park who jumped up on her as she held her own dog at chest level for its protection from the Labrador. The reporting party suffered scratches on her arm, and the dog was found responsible for the injuries.

The Labrador was up to date on all rabies vaccinations, but was still subjected to mandatory 10 day rabies quarantine and a citation was issued to the owner for the injury.


Thursday July 4, 2019


At approximately 2:40 AM while on patrol around the area of Cypress and Walnut Street, Brookline Police officers noticed a vehicle traveling at unsafe speeds. The patrolling officer ran the plates of the vehicle which indicated that the registered owner of the vehicle had a warrant out for his arrest and the also the registration of the vehicle was revoked.


A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver was informed of why he was pulled over. When the driver was asked for identification, He informed Officers that the vehicle belonged to his nephew, which was confirmed to be true by dispatch. When asked to identify himself, the suspect was unable to provide a drivers license or any form of identification to prove himself as the person he claimed to be. The suspect was then placed under arrest for operating a vehicle without a license. The vehicle and subject were searched incident to arrest. During the search of the vehicle and the subject, various forms of identification were discovered showing the suspect to have a different name than what he provided to police.


After running the suspect's true name, it was discovered he had a suspended drivers license, and multiple warrants out for his arrest in Stoughton.


Friday July 5, 2019


Plain clothes Brookline Police officers patrolling the Beacon Street area noticed a suspicious individual riding a blue rental bike around 6:00 PM. This individual stuck out to Police because he had a large bag bungee corded to the front of his rental bike, and rather than docking the bike in the appropriate station to avoid charges while not in use, he left it unattended outside of a store he entered. This led the officers to believe that he was not in legal possession of the bike and decided to follow him into the store to observe his actions further.


While in the store, officers observed the individual inspecting phone chargers and putting them back down, looking around to see if anyone was watching him. He was then seen placing one of the chargers in his pocket and walking around the store looking at more items, again inspecting them and then putting them back down.


At this point officers contacted the manager and informed him of their observations and asked how many phone chargers he had on display. The manager told police that there should be 36 phone chargers on display but only 35 were found. The individual then attempted to purchase a wrench from the store and pay with a Visa gift card, however the card was denied and the individual stated he had no cash and asked the cashier to return the wrench and attempted to leave the store.


Officers outside stopped the individual and asked for identification, to which he responded that he did not have any. Officers questioned him about the stolen phone charger which he initially denied stealing, but eventually admitted to taking. Officers then compared the charger found on the individual to the ones in the store confirming that it was indeed a stolen item. Upon further search of the individual two more stolen items were discovered: A flashlight and a knife.

The suspect was then placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.


Monday July 8, 2019


At 6:50 AM police were dispatched to Russet Road for the report of a house fire. Officers were met on scene by Brookline Fire Department to attempt to extinguish the fire. The fire was large enough that assistance from out of town fire departments was required, The fire was started a candle that was left unattended and spread to a nearby cabinet and resulted in heavy structure damage from the fire and smoke, No injuries were reported.


Tuesday July 9, 2019


At 1:44 AM while conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Washington and Boylston street officers noticed a vehicle stopped at the traffic signal. When the traffic signal turned green the vehicle did not move and remained stopped for two full cycles. After observing this the responding officer positioned his patrol car behind the suspect vehicle and maneuvered around the stopped vehicle to get a look at the driver.


The responding officer noticed the driver who appeared to be slumped forward and could not see his hands on the wheel, fearing for the safety of the driver the responding officer approached the driver side door and knocked loudly on the window to attempt to wake the suspect. No response was given by the suspect and he remained slumped forward. Fearing for the safety of the suspect the driver side door was opened and the officer placed the vehicle in park, because it remained in drive stopped only by the suspect’s foot being on the break. A second attempt to wake the suspect by shaking him by his shoulders was unsuccessful; the responding officer then checked the breathing and eyes of the suspect and observed his pupils to be constricted and his breathing to be labored.


Officers then requested an Ambulance and Brookline fire to assist him for fear of a possible drug overdose due to a strong odor of marijuana was detected. A sternum rub was attempted as a third try to get a response from the unconscious suspect, which was semi successful with the suspects
facial expression changing but remaining asleep, this was done a second time and finally the suspect woke up and his pupils returned to normal dilatation.


After a brief investigation the driver was placed under arrest and a search of his vehicle was conducted. During this search a bag of marijuana and large amounts of residue was discovered alongside a variety of smoking paraphernalia and burnt ash. A large illegal “brass” knuckled knife was discovered close by the driver seat and additional dangerous weapon charges were placed on the suspect.


                                                                                                                                                                  

At Approximately 3:30 AM officers were dispatched to Orchard Road for the report of suspicious activity. Once on scene the reporting party met officers and informed them of the situation. The reporting party was in their room on the second floor watching TV, when they heard someone knocking on their back door. Waking a family member they investigated the back door and noticed an unknown individual run and hide behind a shed in their backyard. They then closed and locked the door and dialed 911.


While on scene with the police, the residents informed police of a potential suspect who has an active no trespassing order on the property, however police were unable to locate the unknown individual and the homeowners never got a look at the person and were unable to confirm their suspicions, but believe it to be the individual due to prior history.

Tuesday July 2, 2019

 8:20 PM a man came into the station to report a dog bite. The reporting party stated that at 8:10 PM he was walking in front of the Brookline Public Library on Washington Street when he passed a couple walking their dog. Suddenly the dog jumped up and bit his arm breaking the skin. The dog was described as a white standard size poodle. The owners stated that the dog was up to date on all its vaccines and provided the license number. The man was offered and refused medical attention.

Monday July 1, 2019

11:05 PM officers were dispatched to a residence on Clinton Road. A third party had called expressing concern about their friend who was visiting there. As officers and EMS arrived on scene officers spotted several plants believed to be marijuana in the back yard. Other responding officers stopped a vehicle a short distance from the scene with the party in question and the driver who was identified as the resident of the Clinton road home. EMS evaluated the passenger and she was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a medical condition. As a result of the on scene interactions the driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, not being properly licensed and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Back at the residence, after locating 16 plants outside, a search warrant was issued on July 2nd and executed. Officers removed several bags of marijuana, a rifle, a handgun and more marijuana products. The investigation is ongoing and charges have yet to be filed.

9:50 AM A person came to the front desk to report larceny of automobile parts. The reporting party stated that he parked his vehicle in his driveway on Allerton Street on July 1 at 1 AM. When he returned to the vehicle at 8:45 AM later that day he noticed the front left lower light panel of his vehicle was removed and missing. He observed no other damage to his vehicle. Police are investigating.

Sunday June 30th, 2019

At approximately 1:31 AM Officers were dispatched to Alton Place for the report of smoke coming from the second and third floor. Upon arrival Officers discovered a piece of furniture was on fire on the second floor front porch. Firefighters from Brookline Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguish the fire. It was determine that improper disposal of a cigarette in a trash can started a fire and spread to a small wooden cabinet.

Saturday June 29, 2019

At 5:50 AM Officers were dispatched to Worthington Road for a report of a past breaking and entering to a residence. The homeowner stated that sometime overnight someone had broken in and stole a watch and wallet from his bedroom while he was sleeping. It was determine that entry was made through a basement door that was left unlocked. The suspect gained further entry into the home by breaking a panel to a door which lead to the kitchen and the rest of the living space. It appears drawers in the dining room and bedroom were rummaged through however the homeowner was unsure if anything else was stolen. Police are investigating.

A person came to the police station to report unauthorized use of her mother’s credit cards. The reporting party stated recently her mother’s credit cards were stolen from her residence. She began to notice charges on the account that she or her mother did not make. She was advised to cancel the cards and contact her mother’s financial institutions.  

At approximately 6:50 PM, a detective was on routine patrol when he observed a known shoplifting suspect walk into a business Beacon Street. The detective circled the block and observed the male running from the area of the business looking over his shoulder and now carrying a plastic bag which appeared to be full of items. The detective believing that a larceny has just occurred began to follow the man. The detective advised dispatch of his observations, who reported to him that they had just received a report of shoplifting from the business, and relayed a description of the suspect which fit the male the detective was following. Officers stopped the male a short time later, who admitted to stealing 23 tubes of tooth paste. The suspect was also in possession of three stolen credit cards and had four outstanding warrants for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and charged with the above offenses.

At 9:00 PM Officers were dispatched to a home of Clark Road for a residential alarm. Upon arrival Officers checked the area and discovered a basement window and door that appeared to be tampered with. After checking with the homeowner it was determined that entry was not gained to the home and nothing was missing. Police are investigating the suspicious activity.  

At 10:55 PM Officers were dispatched to Elba Street for the report of a breaking and entering to a motor vehicle that had just occurred. Upon arrival the reporting party stated that she was actively unloading items from her car and left one of the doors unlocked. When she returned to the car to make another trip she noticed a man standing in the rear of her car reaching into the front seat removing items. At first she thought it was a family member but then realized that it was not. The man exited her car holding several of her items including a suitcase. The reporting party attempted to grab the suitcase from the man. A brief struggle for the suitcase ensued and the man let go of it and ran away. The reporting party then called the police. Police canvassed the area looking for the man who is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 5'8", in his 30s, wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. Police were unable to locate the suspect, but did discover two other vehicles that appeared to be broken into.

Friday June 28, 2019 

A person came to the police station to report a past larceny of his bicycle. He stated that sometime between Tuesday June 18th and Friday June 21^st the bike was taken from his backyard on Marion Terrace. He stated the bike was locked with a U-bolt lock. The bike is described as Vilano Rampage fixed Gear single speed men's bike, black in color with red rims. Police are investigating.

Thursday, June 27th

10:21AM: Police were dispatched to a care facility on Babcock Street for a report of an assault and battery. The reporting party was threatened and struck by a man. Officers noticed red marks on the reporting party’s neck. The suspect was arrested for threats to commit a crime, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on an elderly person.

Wednesday, June 26th

5:00AM: Police were dispatched to area Summit Avenue for multiple reports of breaking and entering of motor vehicles. Further investigations showed most of the vehicles were left unsecured. Multiple vehicles had been entered and various items were stolen including loose change. Glove compartments and center consoles were targeted. Many reporting parties found their personal items rummaged through and strewn about the car. This incident occurred sometime between 7:30PM on June 25^th and 5AM on June 26^th. 12:38PM: Officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for a report of past shoplifting. The Loss Prevention Employee stated that a man has been shoplifting from the business for the past several months. The reporting party showed police surveillance footage from December 2018 and February 2019 of the man stealing men’s watches. An arrest warrant has been requested for larceny over $1,200.

2:40PM: Police were dispatched to a residence on Boylston Street for a report of a package theft. The reporting party explained that she got an email confirming the delivery of a package at 11AM. When she arrived home at 1PM, there was no package in her vestibule. Police are investigating.

2:49PM: Officers were dispatched to Saint Paul Street for a report of a missing package. The reporting party stated that he purchased an Asus “Chromebook Flip” laptop on April 24^th, 2019. The item was supposed to be delivered on April 27^th but the reporting party never saw it. The reporting party left town to travel and hoped the package would arrive while he was gone. This incident occurred sometime between April 27^th, 2019 and May 13^th, 2019. This case is under investigation.

10:34PM: A citizen came to the police station to report malicious damage to his vehicle. The reporting party parked his vehicle at 7AM this morning on Washington Street. At 10AM he noticed several scratch/key marks near his trunk area. Upon close look, the scratch marks resembled a swastika symbol. This case is being investigated.

11:49PM: Police responded to the Pierce School Playground for a report of found property. Upon arrival, the officer found an open black violin case with a Rayburn violin inside. The case and violin were on the ground near the side of the building. The violin is missing its bridge and has only one string remaining. The item has been placed into evidence for safe keeping.

Tuesday, June 25th

2:47AM: Officers were dispatched to Kent Street for a report of a suspicious person. The reporting party witnessed a man trying to gain entry into multiple vehicles. Police were able to locate the suspect. Through a “Show Up ID,” the reporting party was able to confirm the identity of the subject. The man was arrested for trespassing and attempted breaking and entering.

5:54AM: Police responded to a radio call for an attempted breaking and entering on Park Street. The reporting party explained that he woke up around 5AM to the sound of his dog barking in the kitchen. This was odd for his dog so he took it out for a walk. When he returned at 5AM he noticed the window was half way up and a small potted plant was in the parking lot behind his house. The reporting party believes someone was attempting to break in when his dog scared them away. Police are investigating this case.

1:43PM: A citizen turned in found property to an officer near the Saint Mary’s T Stop. The reporting party found a set of keys hooked onto the fence. The key ring has a silver and white cat charm on it. Police have secured this item in a locker for safe keeping.

4:56PM: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Harvard Place for a possible attempted breaking and entering. The reporting party was awoken by a noise outside his apartment at approximately 5:30AM. He went to the bathroom and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. At 7:30AM, when he was leaving for work he noticed his window screen missing. He later found it leaning up against the side of the house. Nothing of value appears to have been taken from the home. This case is under investigation. 

Monday, June 24th

9:47AM: Police were dispatched to Griggs Road for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party explained that sometime between 6PM on Sunday, June 23^rd, and 10AM on Monday, June 24^th someone flattened the tires in both of her vehicles. Officers inspected the vehicles and noticed two flat tires on the first vehicle, and three flat tires on the second vehicle. The reporting party did not know of anyone who had reason to target her property. Police are investigating.

7:10PM: Officers responded to Beacon Street for a report of stolen bicycle wheels. The reporting party explained that he parked his Fuji Absolute bicycle to the bike stand in front of a restaurant at approximately 6:10PM. When he returned at 7PM, the bicycle frame was still locked to the stand but both wheels were missing. This case is being investigated.

Sunday, June 23rd

11:45AM: Officers were dispatched to Rawson Road for found property. The reporting party was riding a bicycle near Elliot Playground when he located a car key on the ground. He found the Volvo key fob near the path to the Penniman Road extension. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful. The car keys are secured in a locker at the police department until someone claims them.

Saturday, June 22nd

10:38AM: Officers were dispatched to a Café on Station Street for a report of animal disturbance. The reporting party was eating outside with her dog when it began to bark aggressively at another dog passing the table. The two dogs then got into a physical confrontation. The reporting party’s dog had a small laceration on his left ear. Both dogs are registered with the town and updated on their rabies vaccination.

1:37PM: Police responded to a residence on White Place for a report of a package theft. Upon arrival, the reporting party explained that she received an email on June 12^th that her package had been delivered. When she arrived home later that day she did not see the package. This case is under investigation. 

5:54PM: A citizen came to the station to report a bike larceny. The reporting party stated that at 10AM he secured his bike in the rear of his employment on Station Street. He did not notice the bike was missing until 4:30PM. The bicycle is described as a blue Nishiki Colorado men’s bike but with upgraded components to make it a Shimano Decore XT. This is being investigated. 

7:14PM: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Parkway Road for past package thefts. The reporting party had three packages stolen since Thursday, June 20^th. The first two packages were delivered on Thursday, June 20^th, while the third one was delivered on Friday, June 21^st. Police are investigating this case. 

7:17PM: Police responded to Glenland Road for a report of an animal bite. The reporting party stated that she was walking her dog on Heath Street when a small white dog appeared from a backyard. The white dog ran over to the reporting party’s dog and a confrontation ensued. After the incident, the reporting party noticed a small bite mark on her dog’s face. Both animals have their rabies vaccination. 

Friday, June 21st

4:10PM: Officers responded to Marion Street for a report of a past bike larceny. The reporting party parked her bicycle on Friday, June 7^th, in a parking garage. She used a U-lock to lock her 2012 black “Specialized” Roubaix bicycle. When she returned on June 21^st at 4:30PM, both the bicycle and the U-lock were missing. This case is being investigated. 

4:20PM: Police were dispatched to an apartment building on Auburn Court for a report of breaking and entering and larceny from a residence. The reporting party explained that the family left the home at approximately 9AM. When they returned at 3:30PM, they found the home to be in disarray. The doors were secured when they left the home this morning. Jewelry and several electronic appliances were taken from the home during the break in. Police are investigating this case. 

Thursday, June 20th

12:58AM: A citizen came to the Police Station to report an animal bite. The reporting party was sitting on a bench outside the Brookline Public Library when he felt a sharp pain in his right foot’s middle toe. He turned his flashlight on and noticed he was bleeding from a puncture wound. He stood up and attempted to locate the animal that possibly bit him but he could not find it. The officer on duty recommended that the man go to the hospital for his injuries. The reporting party was treated by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.

3:42PM: Police responded to a business on Commonwealth for a report of past shoplifting. The Loss Prevention Employee explained that a man has been shoplifting recently. Surveillance cameras show a heavy set white male with a dark beard and mustache entering the store on June 18^th. The footage shows the suspect placing a small item into a brown paper bag before exiting the store without paying. The item stolen is a gold Samsung Galaxy men’s Smart Watch valued at $200. Police are investigating.

9:10PM: Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth for a report of shoplifting. The Loss Prevention employee was reviewing surveillance tapes when he noticed a man enter the store at 10:01AM and leave at 10:02AM. Footage from the cameras show the man steal two charcoal colored Ionic Smart Watches. Surveillance shows the suspect leave in a gray or silver sedan. This case is under investigation.

Tuesday, June 18th

1:03PM: A woman contacted Brookline Animal Control Unit to report a bat in her home. The reporting party explained that while in her bedroom on Monday, June 17^th at 9:30PM she noticed a bat fly above her head. The woman stated that she chased and contained the bat in her bathroom. Police secured the animal and it was transported to the State Lab. Results show that the bat tested negative for rabies.

3:05PM: Police responded to a residence on Pleasant Street for a report of a package theft. The reporting party stated that he received a confirmation email on Monday, June 17^th, at 6:39PM that his package had been delivered. One of his roommates entered the building at 7:30PM and saw the package ripped open and the contents removed. The vestibule of the building is unsecured. The reporting party recalled that he had another package taken sometime within the last month but did not call police to report the incident. This case is under investigation. 

8:27PM: Officers were dispatched to an apartment building on Pleasant Street for a larceny report. The reporting party explained that he was moving into his girlfriend’s apartment when some of his belongings were stolen. He propped a door open using a backpack and several boxes and left to park his car. When the reporting party returned, his backpack was missing. It contained two computers and other electronics. This case is under investigation. 

Monday, June 17th

7:26AM: Officers responded to Williams Street and Winchester Street for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party stated that someone spray painted his backhoe between 2PM Sunday, June 16^th, and 6AM Monday, June 17^th. Because of the graphic language and proximity to children, the reporting party had scraped most of the paint off before police arrived. Photos were taken. Police are investigating.

5:52PM: Police were dispatched to a home on Netherlands Road for a report of found property. The reporting party located several ripped up envelopes behind his front hedge. Upon closer look, he noticed the mail contained personal information. Police took possession of the mail and have attempted to make contact with the involved parties but have been unsuccessful. This case is under investigation.

Sunday, June 16th

10:16AM: Police were dispatched to a residence on Linden Place for a past breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that on June 15^th, at approximately 8:30PM she parked her car in her driveway. When she returned to her vehicle at approximately 9AM on Sunday, June 16th, she noticed her license and credit card strewn about. In addition, cash and change were missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was locked and there was no apparent break. Police are investigating. 

Saturday, June 15th

9:12AM: A citizen came to the Police Station to report a past bike larceny. The reporting party stated that sometime between 5PM on Thursday, June 13^th, and 9AM Friday, June 14^th, his son’s bike was stolen. The item is described as a royal blue Men’s Mt. Shasta 21-speed brand bicycle. The bike was locked with a cable to a meter outside their home on Beacon Street. This case is being investigated.

6:56PM: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Winchester Street of a report of graffiti. The building superintendent noticed white graffiti on a wall this morning. The reporting party showed officers the defaced wall. A resident of the building recalled no graffiti at 7PM last night but it was present when he arrived this morning at 10AM. Police are investigating.

7:31PM: Police responded to a business on Washington Street for a report of shoplifting. The manager of the store stated that she witnessed a man place several packages of razorblades in his pants. The suspect then left the store towards Harvard Street. Police recognized the subject from surveillance footage and summonsed him for shoplifting.

8:15PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for a report of theft. The reporting party stated that he left his wallet in a secured locker at 6:45PM. When he returned at 8:15PM, his red wire lock was gone and $40 was missing from his wallet. Surveillance footage shows a white male entered the locker room at 7:40PM. This unidentified male was wearing a grey collared shirt with black stripes, light-colored khaki pants, black sneakers, and carrying a messenger bag. This case is under investigation. 

Friday, June 14th

10:45AM: Police responded to a business on Boylston Street for a graffiti complaint. The reporting party showed officers surveillance footage from Monday, June 10^th, of three teenagers. They entered the property at 12:53AM, walked to the back of the property and used white and red spray paint to draw images on the wall. The graffiti in red is a “smiley face with arms” while the graffiti in white says “Vegan” and “V”. This case is under investigation.

2:12PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon Street for a report of past shoplifting. The manager noticed multiple items missing from a shelf that was stocked the night before. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, he observed a man take items off the shelf and stuff them into a black bag. The subject then left the business towards Beacon Street without paying for the items. The man is described as either Hispanic or Middle Eastern, wearing a “Jamin’ 94.5” black t shirt, black zip-up sweatshirt, grey shorts, and pink sneakers. Police are investigating.

3:53PM: Police responded to a business on Harvard Street for a shoplifting in progress. The reporting party observed a man placing shampoo bottles into a reusable grocery bag then leaving the store. Officers in the area located a subject that matched the description. Police conducted a “Show Up ID” and the reporting party confirmed the identity of the shoplifter. The subject was arrested. All stolen items were recovered and returned to the store. 

Thursday, June 13th

8:01PM: Police were dispatched to a residential building on Walnut Street for a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that when he returned from work on June 13^th at 8PM, he observed several storage unit doors to be open. These doors are normally locked and secured. In addition, the reporting party noticed his bicycle was missing. The bike is described as a charcoal Trek Mountain Bike with 27 gears. The previous day, June 12^th, a neighbor noticed her apartment keys were missing. It is possible the same suspect is involved in both crimes.

11:36PM: Officers responded to Commonwealth Avenue for a report of a bike larceny. The reporting party last saw his bike at 6PM when he left it unsecured in an alley behind his work. When he returned at 9PM, the bike was gone. The item is described as a black Trek brand electric bike with red accents. Police are investigating this case. 

Wednesday, June 12th

8:31AM: An officer was dispatched to the corner of Essex Street and Worthington Road for a report of two found wallets. A security guard for the New England Hebrew Academy was approached by a parent who located the two wallets in bushes near the school. Both wallets were empty with no information to identify the owners. The wallets have been placed into storage for safe keeping.

9:44AM: Police responded to Longwood Avenue for a report of past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The reporting party parked his vehicle in the Babcock Street parking lot at 3:20PM on Tuesday, June 11^th. When he returned to the vehicle at 4PM, he noticed his black LL Bean backpack was missing. The doors were left unsecured. This case is under investigation.  

1:10PM: Officers were dispatched to a residence on University Road for a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. On Tuesday night, June 11^th, someone broke into the reporting party’s car and stolen $5 in change and a pocket knife. The reporting party believes the incident may have occurred at 3:10AM when he was woken up by car alarms. He checked outside but did not see anyone in the area. The vehicle doors were unlocked overnight. Police are investigating.

2:06PM: Police responded to Webster Street for found property. The reporting party stated that at 5PM on Tuesday, June 11^th, he noticed two backpacks in the bushes near a parking lot. This morning, June 12^th, he saw the backpacks again and decided to call police. It is possible the backpacks were left on June 10^th. No identifiable information was located inside the backpacks. The bags were placed into an evidence locker for safekeeping. 

3:43PM: Officers were dispatched to Auburn Street for a residential breaking and entering and larceny report. The reporting party stated that she left her apartment at 9PM on June 11^th and returned at 3PM on June 12^th. Upon arrival, she observed both her front door and back door to be open. The reporting party was positive she secured both doors before leaving the apartment. A large wooden chest was also missing from the property. This case is under investigation. 

5:42PM: A citizen approached an officer near Allerton Road for a report of stolen property. The man stated that a 10 foot cooper downspout was stolen from his home overnight. The reporting party last saw the pipe at 7PM on Tuesday, June 11^th. He returned home at 6:30AM on June 12^th and noticed the pipe was missing. This case is under investigation. 

6:51PM: Police were dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for a report of shoplifting. Officers were met by store employees that witnessed a man place several items in a green tote bag. The suspect was observed on surveillance cameras stealing items and then fleeing towards Kenmore Square. The man is described an African American Male, age 40-50, short gray hair, wearing a black baseball cap, white t-shirt, black puffy vest, and dark colored pants. 

8:26PM: Officers responded to a business on Harvard Street for shoplifting. The reporting party showed police surveillance footage of an unknown female. The woman grabbed numerous articles of clothing, concealing them in two purses and a suit case, before exiting the store. The female is described as an African American woman with short black hair, dressed in a white shirt with a black sweater, and sunglasses. The suspect stole almost $1,700 worth of clothing items. 

Tuesday, June 11th

6:57PM: Police were dispatched to an apartment on Gibbs Street for a report of package theft. The reporting party located the package in the vestibule of her apartment at 6:30PM. She moved her package and a neighbor’s package into the locked vestibule of the building. The reporting party returned approximately 15 minutes later but her package was no longer there. The reporting party confirmed with her neighbor that he did not accidentally take it. This case is under investigation.

Monday, June 10th

1:26PM: Police were dispatched to a residence on Centre Street for a report of a bicycle theft. The reporting party stated that he rode his bike over to Centre Street to help a friend with yard work. At 11:20AM, he locked his bicycle to a parking meter outside the home. When he returned at 1:25PM, the bike and cable lock were missing. The item is described as a Trek model with orange, blue, and black accents. This case is being investigated.

Sunday, June 9th

1:45PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon Street for a shoplifting in progress. An employee observed a man enter the bathroom with a full carriage and walk out with an empty one. Several employees have noticed this man shoplifting in the past weeks. The man was summonsed for shoplifting and all stolen items were returned to the store. 

6:51PM: Police responded to a home on Lancaster Terrace for a report of bicycle larceny. The reporting party stated that on Friday, June 7^th, at 3PM, he locked his bike to a street sign on Beacon Street and Fairbanks Street. When the reporting party returned on Sunday, June 9^th, at 6:30PM, he could not locate his bike or the lock.  The bicycle is described as a blue Fix-E bike that was locked using a blue “rope like” combination lock. The bike was most likely taken between 3PM on June 7^th and 6:30PM on June 9^th. Police are investigating.

Saturday, June 8th

3:15PM: Police were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of lost property. The reporting party stated that he last saw his wallet at around 1PM when he paid for lunch at a local restaurant. When he arrived at his hotel, he noticed his wallet was missing. The restaurant could not locate the wallet. This case is under investigation.

Friday, June 7th

11:49AM: Police were dispatched to a residential building on Beacon Street for a report of a package theft. The reporting party was expecting an Amazon package to be delivered on Friday, June 7^th. However, she received an email notification that her package had been delivered on Thursday, June 6^th. At 10:45AM on Friday, June 7th, the reporting party searched the vestibule and located her package. It, along with another resident's package, had been torn open and the contents were removed. This case is under investigation.  

11:11PM: Officers responded to Saint Paul Street for a report of malicious damage. A man found his motorcycle knocked over and damaged in the rear of his residence. The reporting party parked his 2007 Yamaha S6 Motorcycle on Thursday, June 6^th, at 6PM. When he returned at 7AM on Friday, June 7^th, the motorcycle was laying on its right side. The damage included a broken off and cracked windscreen, cracked break reservoir, broken foot peg, and broken right mirror. Police are investigating this case.

Thursday, June 6th

1:08PM: An officer was informed by a Brookline Park Ranger that a dog bite had occurred on June 4th. The reporting party stated that at 10:30AM she was on running on Cypress Street when she approached Rice Street. There was a small black dog with long black hair, possibly a Scottish terrier breed, at the intersection. The reporting party claimed that her running approach towards the dog may have scared the dog, and caused the dog to jump up and bite her. The reporting party discovered she was injured when she arrived home. To ensure her safety a human exposure form was sent to the Brookline Heath Department. 

3:35PM: Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a found mobile phone. The item was found at the bottom of the Pierce School stairs. The phone was locked with a pass code and had no emergency contact information. The item is described as a white Google brand Smartphone in a 2-piece Otterbox case. The item was place into evidence for safe keeping. 

3:38PM: Police responded to Brook Street for a report of a stolen bike. The reporting party claimed that he locked his bicycle to the bike rack outside Brookline High School on June 6^th at 2:50PM. When he returned at 3:30PM, his bike was missing. Officers in the area noticed a teen riding a bicycle that matched the description. The male admitted to stealing the bike in order to get home. The bicycle was returned to the owner. The male was summonsed to court for larceny. 

6:49PM: Officers were dispatched to Linden Street for a stolen package. On June 5^th, a package was supposed to be delivered at 4PM. The package contained a pair of unknown sneakers valued at $50. The reporting party stated that the package was opened and the contents taken. Police are investigating.  

11:10PM: Police responded to Monmouth Court for a report of found property. The reporting party found a pair of glasses on the Carlton Path. The glasses have been submitted to evidence for safe keeping.
