11/30/2017

On November 30, 2017, Officers responded to an address on University Road for a report of fraud by credit card. The victim reports finding an unauthorized transaction in his Western Union account in the amount of 1,052.99 USD. He also found another unauthorized transaction in a different account that he holds. He was advised to close his accounts and to follow up with his bank’s Fraud department.

On November 30, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Babcock Street for a report of a dog bite. The victim sustained a bite to her Achilles, breaking the skin. Animal Control was notified and conducted an investigation resulting in a citation being issued to the owner of the dog who committed the biting.

On 11/29/2017, Officers were dispatched to 880 Commonwealth Ave for possible fraud at the ATM. The reporting party stated that two males that are believed to be involved in using counterfeit ATM cards at numerous Banks in the Boston area had left that location between 1730 hrs and 1735 hrs. Detectives are following up on this case.

12/1/2017

On Friday 12/1/2017 Officers responded to the area of Commonwealth Ave and Essex St for a report of an Uber driver who had just been assaulted by a passenger. Officers were unable to locate the assailant. The Uber driver received a minor scratch to his wrist.  A report was filed and will be followed up by the Detectives.

On December 1, Officers responded to an address on Boylston Street to investigate a possible indecent exposure.  Officers arrived and located a subject who was not wearing a shirt but did have pants on. Officers were unable to determine if there was in fact an indecent exposure as they were having trouble contacting the reporting party. The subject did have outstanding warrants and was subsequently arrested.

On 12/1/17 Officers responded to an address on Kent St for a fraud report. The victim reports noticing she had money missing from her bank account, and upon noticing this she immediately contacted her bank. The Bank realized that a fraudulent check had been cashed and they were in the process of returning her money. A report was filed.

On Friday, 12/01/17, a citizen entered the Brookline Police lobby to report that packages had been stolen from her building’s vestibule on Babcock St. She reports that her roommate’s packages were missing as well. A report was filed.

12/2/2017

On Saturday December 2nd, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Beacon Street for a report of a loud party coming from the first floor of the building. The caller wished to stay anonymous but resided in one of the adjoining buildings. The responding Officer could hear electronic dance music with heavy bass coming from the first floor apartment. The resident informed the officer that he had received a warning in the past due to a noise complaint. The resident was issued a citation Article 8.29.4 - Noise Nuisance/Loud Party $100.00 first offense.

On Saturday, 12/02/17, a resident came into the Brookline Police Station to report the theft of her bicycle. She stated that her bike, a white SPECIALIZED brand hybrid with aftermarket accessories including lights, helmet, and travel rack, was stolen from a bike rack on Beacon St. There are security cameras located in that area and she has requested the footage from the property manager.

On Saturday 12-02-2017, Officers conducted a traffic stop on Commonwealth Av. just east of Carlton St.  for a red light violation. During the stop it was discovered that the driver had a suspended license. Further investigation revealed the driver had a warrant for her arrest, and was in possession of drugs.  The driver was charged with the following:   (94C/34) Possession of a Class B Drug (2 counts) for possessing two types of ADHD medication classified as amphetamines; (94C/34)  Possession of a Class E Drug (2 counts) for possessing loose nalaxone tablets without a valid prescription, as well as  possessing Celexa prescribed to another

(90/23); Operating After Suspension (89/9); Red Light Violation   (89/4A); Marked Lane Violation; and (90/13B) Improper Cell Phone Use.

On December 2, an officer responded to Cameron St. for a report of malicious damage to a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that he had left his car in the parking lot overnight and when he returned the windshield had been damaged. The incident is being investigated.

About 3:51 PM, on Saturday, December 2, 2017, Officers responded to an address on Cameron St. on reports of malicious damage. The victim showed the Officer damage to his vehicles windshield. He was unaware who or what may have caused the damage. He was advised to file a report with his insurance company. 

12/3/2017

On Sunday December 3, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of a stolen package. The reporting party stated that he received confirmation that his package was delivered on 11/27 but when he went to retrieve it the evening of 11/28, it was gone.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to a metered spot on Harvard St. for a traffic crash.   . Both parties were advised to contact their insurance company.  One motor vehicle was privately towed.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to Dummer St. for a town tree damaged by a delivery truck. Photographs were taken of the tree and the damage to the truck. Report filled.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to an address on Boylston St. for larceny report. The victim reports having her wallet stolen. Officers obtained still photos of the location of where the wallet was stolen. A report was filled.

On 11/29/2017 Officers conducted a traffic stop on Clinton Rd.  Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had no insurance or registration.  The Operator was issued a citation and the vehicle was towed.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to an address on Parkway Rd. for a larceny report.  The victim states that they returned home to find two ripped open packages, the contents were taken.  A report was filled.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to an address on Harvard Ave of two males attempting to steal packages.  It was reported to Officers that a resident observed unknown males taking packages from her front porch.  A description was given to the responding officers and given to surrounding units. A report was filled.

On 11/29/2017 Officers responded to an address on University Rd. for a fraud report.  The victim stated that they had two fraudulent charges on two separate credit cards.  A report was filled.

On 11/29/2017 and 11/30/2017 Officers responded to an address on Commonwealth Ave. for a fraud report.  It was told to officers that two suspects were using counterfeit ATM cards at different banks. Descriptions of the suspects were given to Officers. A report was filled.

On 11/30/2017 Officers responded to an address on Babcock St. for a reported dog bite. The caller report being bitten by a dog.  Information was exchanged. A report was filled and an email was sent to the Animal Control Officer.

On 11/30/2017 Officers responded to an address on Essex St. for a report of a past Assault.  The victim an Uber driver reported a passenger assaulted him because of the route he was taking.  The suspect was not on scene upon police arrival.  A report was filed.

On 11/30/2017 Officers responded to an address on Boylston St. for suspicious activity.  Upon arrival they encountered a shirtless male working out.  When the male was identified it was revealed that there was a warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested and a report was filled. 

11/29/2017

On November 29, while on Patrol an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. without an inspection sticker. The officer queried the vehicle and found that the car’s registration and the registered owner’s license were expired. The officer conducted a traffic stop, confirmed the identity of the driver and placed her under arrest for operating without a license. During the interaction, the officer observed the vehicle’s passenger avoid eye contact and reach his hands in his pockets several times. The officer queried the passenger and found that he had two active arrest warrants. The passenger was also placed under arrest.

An officer responded to Parkway Rd. for a larceny report. The victim stated that on November 28 at approximately 1645hrs, her neighbor arrived home and found two packages, one addressed to the victim and the other for another building resident, that had been ripped open and the contents removed. The building vestibule where the packages were found was unlocked.

Officers were dispatched to Harvard Ave. for a report of two males attempting to steal packages. The reporting party stated that she had looked out her window and observed an unknown male party exiting her building with packages in his hand. The woman stated that she then ran onto her porch and yelled out to the suspect causing him to drop the packages in the courtyard. The reporting party stated that she had seen a second male party enter a building a few doors down as well and she took a photo of this male. The incident is being investigated.

11/24/2017-11/28/2017

On Saturday 11-25-2017a resident on Columbia St reported a bat was in her house. No contact was made with the bat and the resident was advised.

On 11-26-2017 a resident on Sewall Ave reported a larceny of a parcel from the front vestibule of their building.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to the front desk on reports of a missing person. The information has been entered into the Criminal Justice Information System. The missing party is described as white female, 5'5", 110 lbs. hazel eyes, brown shoulder length hair.  The missing party was last seen wearing a pink sweatshirt, black shorts and carrying a dark blue backpack.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to Carlton and Montfort St for reports of a traffic crash. No injuries were reported by either party, and 1 vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to an address on Roberts St. for a report of attempted break and enter.  The resident came home and found that their Apt. door was difficult to open and the lock had been broken. Officers searched the apartment and nothing seemed out of place. Detectives arrived on scene and it was determined that access was not gained into the apartment.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to an address on St. Paul St. on reports of a Break and Enter.  Officers observed fresh pry marks on the front door to the condo. After looking through the apartment it was realized multiple items had been stolen and property gone through. Brookline Detectives will follow up with video surveillance from the area.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to an address on Harris on reports of Larceny from a Building. The resident reports leaving his computer bag in the vestibule for approximately 30 minutes and when he returned it was gone. Officers searched the area but had no luck finding the bag. A report was filed.

On 11-27-2017 Officers responded to the Center Street Lot on reports of an MV accident involving a Bicycle. After an investigation the driver of the MV was cited for Failure to Use Care Entering a Roadway. The cyclist was not injured but his bike was.

On 11-28-2017 Officers responded to an address on Beacon St on reports of vandalism. The reporting party states that damage was done to a fire Pump Room door, and that the damage is new. A request was made for video surveillance footage. Photos of the damage have been taken.

On 11-28-2017 Officers responded to the front desk to take a report for a larceny. The victim reports that their iPhone had been stolen while she was in a meeting at the High School. The phone had ben stolen earlier in the month and the victim is working with her phone provider to assist in shutting the phone down.

On 11-28-2017 Officers responded to an address on Parkway Rd on a package theft report.  The victim reports that she was notified that the package had been delivered earlier in the day, and when she returned home she found an empty box that had been torn open and its contents removed. Officers will request the video surveillance of the area where the box had been delivered. A follow-up with the detectives will be conducted.

On 11-28-2017 a missing person’s report was filed on a resident that lives on Westbourne Terrace. Local police departments and hospitals were notified of the missing person. The missing person is described as a Chinese National, who only speaks Mandarin and was last seen wearing a Green Plaid long sleeve shirt with a Black jacket. He was wearing Black pants with Black Shoes.

On 11-28-2017 Officers responded to an address on Brook Street on reports of a past larceny. The victim reports ordering an item from Amazon which had been delivered to her front porch. When she returned home the package was missing, but in a trash barrel close by was an empty Amazon   box. The box was placed into evidence.

November 20- 23, Lock your cars, hide valuables. Check credit card statements. Be suspicious of free stuff.

November 20, at 12:10PM A Green Street resident called to report their car had been broken into overnight. The resident reported they had parked in their lot the night before around 5:30 PM. Today they went out at 8:30AM to find items had been taken from the car. No visible damage to the car, no leads at this time.

November 20 at 6:10 PM an officer on Babcock Street, saw a vehicle drive past him heading towards Commonwealth AV. The officer ran the license plate. The inquiry indicated the cars registration was Revoked/ Insurance. The vehicle was pulled over in the area of 227 Babcock Street. The driver was given a citation for driving an unregistered car and another for the car being uninsured. The license plates were removed by Police and seized and the car was towed. 

November 20, File under the heading Strange Cases, Officers took two reports from residents claiming they are getting free stuff from Amazon. Both the residents say over the prior weeks they have been getting items delivered from Amazon to their residences. Items received included (2) make up brush cleaners, phone cables and cases, mostly small items. Checking with Amazon they found in one case an account with the residents name and address had been created. The items had been purchased with an amazon gift card and an unknown email address.  The second case Amazon said the items were being sent by a third party with an unknown account. Both residents say their credit cards have not been used. At this time it is unknown if this is some type of scam.

November 21, at 1:10AM Officers responded to Rt. 9 and Sumner for a reported driver sleeping at the wheel. A driver had stopped behind a car in the travel lane to check on the driver in front of him at the green light. That operator approached the car and saw the driver apparently sleeping at the wheel. Another car stopped to assist. The police were called and the investigations lead to the arrest of the driver that appeared to be sleeping. The driver faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

November 22, at 5:46AM a two car crash at Longwood Av and Kent Street sent four people to the hospital with various injuries. This is still under investigation.

November 22, a staff member at Runkle School reported their cell phone was missing. They indicated on the prior day they had left it in a bathroom in the school. The matter is under investigation.

November 22, 11:25 AM officers were dispatched to a bank on Harvard Street for a reported argument inside. They arrived to find three people involved in an argument. Two subjects are involved in a civil matter, one owing the other rent money. The third person was identified as a Brookline constable who was asked to assist another person in getting money from the third party.  It appears that the subject who requested the constable went too far in their attempts to get the matter resolved.  Allegedly they took the others purse while inside the bank and may have taken apartment keys from it. The officers on scene had a discussion with the constable and they had conversation over his role on scene.  The subject who had requested the constable is now being summonsed into court for attempted larceny. This matter is still under investigation.

November 23 at 7:15PM an officer responded to Brookline AV near Parkway Road. A person reported their vehicle had been broken into. The owner stated they parked there in the morning and came back to find a back window had been smashed. In looking inside they saw that an expensive dress had been stolen from the car.  This matter is still under investigation.

Nov. 16th- Nov 19th

November 16^th at 4:39PM an employee of a local business on Brookline Av came into the station to report a past assault and battery. The incident involved a fellow employee. As a result of the investigation it was determined to give both employees a chance to tell their stories to a clerk of the court. No arrest made.

November 17^th at 9:53 AM a caller reported a man was walking on Willow Crescent and was screaming. When officers arrived the subject gave his name and it was found there was an active arrest warrant out for him. While the subject was being placed into custody he struck one of the officers and tried to flee. He was successfully taken into custody. He now faces additional charges of assaulting the officer and resisting arrest.

November 17^th at 9:30PM a witness’s information assisted police in making an arrest of a subject for breaking and entering into a car. A witness observed a subject appear to try to get into a car and smash the cars window. The car was parked on Freeman Street. The subject then fled in another car. A partial license plate and description of the car was given to Police. A car fitting the description was stopped in Brookline Village a short time later. The investigation lead to a passenger in the car being charged with Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.

November 18^th at 10:35AM officers responded to a store on Beacon Street for a report of a past larceny. Officers were told a subject had been observed taking packages of paper plates and napkins and placing them into their bag. The subject then left the store without paying and was gone before police arrived.

November 18^th at 5:25PM officer responded to a store on Harvard Street. A subject had been stopped for shoplifting. Among the items found on the subject was $183.00 worth of frozen shrimp. The subject had a total of property valued at $ 255.78. The subject was arrested and faces larceny charges.

November 18^th at 10:30PM Dispatch stated they received a call from the BUPD police. BU Police stated they had received an anonymous tip on their tip line of a reported party on Stedman Street. Officers were able to locate a party in the area and it was shut down.

November 19^th at 1:05 AM an officer was conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Cypress Street. The officer observed a car make an illegal U-Turn .The vehicle was pulled over in the area of 300 Boylston Street. The operator became uncooperative and argumentative; finally the driver produced a Massachusetts Identification card and stated they did not have a license. As result of the stop the operator was placed under arrest and charged with Not Duly Licensed and Illegal U-Turn. The car was towed.

November 19^th at 2:29 AM a bus and a car crashed at the intersection Carlton St. and Mountfort St. The bus was carrying four passengers. No one on the bus was hurt. The operator of the bus was cited for a traffic violation. The operator of the car was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and their car was towed

11/15/2017

On November 15 a woman came into the police department to report a past larceny. The woman stated that a package was supposed to be delivered to her residence on Aspinwall Ave. on 10/24 and she never received it.

An officer responded to St. Paul St. for a report of suspicious packages. The reporting party stated that she had noticed two boxes by the garage the night before but thought nothing of them. When she saw them again in the morning she checked them and noticed that they both had shipping labels for neighboring addresses and were missing their contents. Officers confirmed with neighbors that one box had been stolen and believe the other was trash that blew away. The matter is under investigation.

While patrolling in the area of Aspinwall Ave. and Kent St. an officer ran a random query of a vehicle and found that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked and the registered owner’s license had been revoked. The officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the identity of the driver. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation.

On November 14, an officer was monitoring traffic when he ran a query of a vehicle traveling in the area of Boylston St. and Sumner Rd. The officer found that the registered owner had a suspended license so he conducted a traffic stop. The officer confirmed the identity of the driver and placed her under arrest.

11/9/2017

An officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that his cell phone had either been lost or stolen earlier that afternoon.

An officer was dispatched to the Lincoln School for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had locked his daughter’s bike to a bike rack that morning and it was now gone. The next day the reporting party located the missing bike on Chestnut Street. The incident is being investigated.

An officer was dispatched to Francis St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that their two blue Town of Brookline recycling bins were stolen overnight

An officer was dispatched to Freeman St. for a report of suspicious packages. The reporting party stated that when she arrived home at approximately 1650hrs, she discovered multiple packages addressed to various people that had been opened

Officers responded to Commonwealth Ave. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that she had observed a male party take several items and conceal them in a bag before leaving. The matter is under investigation.

On November 8, a woman contacted the BPD to report a larceny. The woman stated she had taken her jacket off on some benches at the Runkle School gym and it was now gone.

11/6/2017

An officer was dispatched to Tappan St. for a report of an attempted larceny. The reporting party stated that they had locked a bike to a bike rack on November 3 and when he returned this morning the lock was damaged but the bike was still there.

An officer responded to Manchester Rd. for a past larceny report. The reporting party stated that on 11/5 he received confirmation that a package had been delivered and when his roommate went to retrieve it 17 minutes later it was gone.

Officers were dispatched to Chestnut St. for a report of a female party entering the residence uninvited. Officers queried the female party and found that she had three active warrants in her name. The woman was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to Harvard Ave. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that when she arrived home around 8pm she discovered a package addressed to her had been cut open and the contents were missing.

On November 7 a woman came into the police station to make a larceny report. The woman stated that that she had locked her bike to a rack on Washington and Pearl Streets approximately 2 months prior. The woman reported seeing her bike on 11/3 but when she came back on 11/5 the lock had been cut and her bike was gone.

11/2/2017

On November 2, officers responded to High St. for a report of a package theft occurring within the past two minutes. The reporting party stated that she had ordered a package and received a phone call from FedEx stating it had been delivered yet when she arrived in the lobby of her building a few minutes later, the package was gone.

Officers were dispatched to Harvard St. for a past road rage incident where a passenger brandished a firearm. The reporting party stated that she was sitting in traffic on Washington St. when another vehicle attempted to back into a handicap parking spot that was blocked by her car. The reporting party stated that the driver and passenger of the other vehicle began to yell at her and then the male passenger appeared to brandish a firearm. The reporting party continued towards Harvard St. while the other vehicle continued to follow and then drove off. The incident is being investigated.

At approximately 1615hrs, an officer was dispatched to the intersection of Washington and School Streets for a report of a road rage incident. The reporting party stated that he was driving on Aspinwall Ave. when a vehicle stopped in the roadway and did not continue with the flow of traffic. The reporting party stated that he yelled at the vehicle in front of him and then passed on the left side. When the reporting party stopped at the next red light he stated that a man exited the vehicle behind him and used a switchblade to slash his tire twice. The incident is under investigation.

11/3/2017

On November 3, officers responded to Beacon St. for a report of a man exposing himself on the sidewalk. The reporting party stated that she had seen a man exposing himself and when she confronted him he fled towards Washington Street. Officers located a man matching the description and the reporting party was able to positively ID him. The suspect was arrested for Open and Gross behavior.

An officer was dispatched to Salisbury Rd for a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that an item went missing about 2 weeks ago and hasn’t been seen since.

An officer was patrolling in the area of Mountfort St and St. Mary’s St. when they ran a random query of a vehicle and found that the registered owner had an active warrant in his name. The officer conducted a traffic stop, confirmed the identity of the driver, and placed him under arrest.

11/4/2017

At approximately 0123hrs officers were dispatched to the area of Russett Rd. and Beverly Rd. for a report of a person looking into vehicles and trying to open doors. Officers located a man matching the description and the reporting party confirmed the ID. The man was placed under arrest for Attempted Breaking and Entering of Motor Vehicles.

An officer responded to Francis St. for a report of a package theft. The reporting party stated that she had received confirmation of her package being delivered the day before and when she went to her building’s foyer she located her package open with the contents removed.

11/5/2017

An officer was dispatched to Aspinwall Ave. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had parked his bike unsecured in front of his residence the night before and that it was now gone.

An officer responded to Bartlett Crescent for a report of an Attempted Breaking & Entering. The reporting party stated that he had arrived at his friend’s residence and noticed that the mailbox had been removed from inside the front door and another door off the main foyer was damaged. The incident is being investigated.

11/1/2017

On November 1st an officer responded to Naples Rd. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had opened his garage to do work at approximately 6:30am and when he closed it around 10am, a bicycle was missing. 

An officer was dispatched to Francis St. for a report of a stolen bicycle. The reporting party stated that he had parked his bike on the side of his residence the night before and when he returned November 1^st, it was gone.

On October 30, an officer was dispatched to Griggs Rd for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had parked his bike in a garage on 10/28 and that it was now gone.

An officer was dispatched to St. Paul St. for an attempted theft of a motorcycle. The reporting party stated that he had parked his motorcycle in a rear alley lot Saturday afternoon and that it had been observed around Monday at 17:30hrs in its assigned spot with the cover partially blown off by wind. The reporting party stated that at approximately 20:20hrs his roommate informed him that the motorcycle had been moved halfway into the spot next to it and the cover had been completely removed. The motorcycle handlebars had been bent and the locking mechanism was damaged. The incident is under investigation.

At approximately 12:11pm, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The store manager reported seeing a female party shuffle items under her jacket. The female party was still in the store and officers made contact. The woman admitted to taking items with no intention of paying for them. The woman was placed under arrest.

In the evening of October 26, officers responded to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that she witnessed an unknown female party take items and conceal them in her jacket pockets. The employee stated that she approached the woman and asked for the items back when the suspect became aggressive and fled towards Coolidge Corner. The incident is under investigation.

At approximately 7:12pm, and officer responded to a residence on St. Paul St. for a report of an attempted Breaking and Entering. The reporting parties stated that they were home when they noticed that the rear door to the apartment was slightly open. The residents reported hearing people walking around in the rear stairwell but did not believe anyone had entered their apartment and reported nothing was missing. The incident is under investigation.

10/27/2017

On October 27, officers responded to New Terrace Rd. to serve a Federal Probation Violation Warrant. The male party was placed under arrest with no incident.

An officer was dispatched to Babcock St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that sometime between 11:30am-3:30pm her wallet had been taken. The incident is being investigated.

10/28/2017

In the morning of October 28, an officer responded to Beacon St. for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party stated that she had parked her vehicle overnight and in the morning she discovered a brick on her vehicle and more around it. The woman stated that there were several new dents to the hood of her vehicle. The incident is being investigated.

10/29/2017

An officer was dispatched to Pleasant St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that their bike had been left unlocked on the porch and was now gone.

An officer responded to Clinton Rd. for a past breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that he had parked in his driveway the evening before and that afternoon discovered that his glove box was open and several items were missing. The incident is being investigated.

An officer was dispatched to Harvard St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had received confirmation of two packages being delivered to his home yet he never received them. The incident is being investigated.

An officer was dispatched to Centre St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that sometime between the evening of October 21 and the morning of October 23, the tires had been stolen from her car. Later that afternoon, officers responded again to Centre St. for another report of stolen tires. This victim reported parking his car in a garage on October 20. Both vehicles were processed and the incidents are being investigated.

An officer responded to St. Paul St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that she had left her bike outside, unlocked by her rear door overnight and that it was gone this morning.

An officer responded to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that a male party had entered the store and attempted to take items without leaving. The employee stated that she confronted the man who left the items and fled through the back door.

In the afternoon of October 24, an officer responded to Reservoir Rd. for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that he had parked his vehicle in his driveway overnight and the next morning items were missing.

Officers responded to a parking lot on Boylston St. for a report of a male passed out in a motor vehicle. Officers were able to awaken the man who had been unconscious in the passenger seat and have paramedics check on him. Attempting to determine the owner of the vehicle, the registration was located at which point a gun was found and removed from the vehicle. The male party was moved from the car and a bag of methamphetamine was found where he had been sitting. Officers viewed surveillance footage and observed two suspects purchase items associated with drug use. The male from the car was able to identify the other two subjects, one being the owner of the vehicle, who were then located in the parking lot. Officers searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia, including glassine bags, and another bag of meth. All three parties were arrested for Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law and Trafficking a Class B Drug. The owner of the vehicle was also charged with Improper Storage of a Firearm.

On October 18, a woman came into the police department to report a larceny. The woman stated that items had been taken from her pocketbook while she was at work on Beacon Street. The incident is under investigation.

A man came into the police station to report a larceny from an automobile. The man stated that he had parked near the intersection of Dwight and Pleasant Streets and that equipment was taken from his truck. The incident is being investigated.

Early on October 19, in the area of the Muddy River Carlton Street footbridge, an officer observed a male party carrying what appeared to be women’s handbags and who appeared to take notice of the cruiser and deliberately walk away. The officer conducted a field interview and found that the man had two active warrants in his name. The man was placed under arrest.

At approximately 11:19 am an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal U-turn on Harvard Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the operator had an expired license and the vehicle’s registration was expired as well. The driver was cited and the vehicle was towed.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that a woman had entered the store and placed multiple items into her bag before leaving without paying. The incident is being investigated.

In the afternoon of October 19, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated that a woman had entered the store and concealed items in her baby stroller before leaving without paying. An officer located a woman matching the description on Centre St. and escorted her back to the store to pay for the items. The woman will be summoned to Brookline District Court.

At approximately 14:37 officers responded to a business on Boylston St. for a report of a bank robbery. The reporting party stated that a female had entered through the rear door and approached the counter. The woman showed a note to an employee which contained a threat of a gun though none was shown. The woman fled through the front doors. The matter is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for a report of a shoplifter who had just left. The store manager stated that a woman had entered the store and took several items without paying. Officers located a woman matching the description and the manager was able to confirm that it was the suspect. The woman was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated that a package had been confirmed as delivered but he never received it.

An officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a report of fraud. The reporting party stated that he had attempted to make a purchase through Craigslist but after he transferred money to the other party, he never received his goods.

In the morning of October 20, an officer responded to Commonwealth Ave. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that on October 18 she had placed her bike in the private garage and when she went back it was gone. The bike lock was later found on Egmont Street. The incident is being investigated.

An officer was dispatched to Brook St. for a larceny report. The man stated that he had left his bike in his driveway unsecured overnight and it was gone in the morning.

An officer responded to Brookline High School and was informed of a larceny. The reporting party stated that multiple bags had been rummaged through and items were missing. The incident is under investigation.

Early on October 21st an officer responded to a residence on Babcock St. for the second noise complaint of the evening. The resident was advised and cited.

An officer was dispatched to Monmouth Ct for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had left her vehicle parked in her driveway on October 17 and when she returned on the 21st, several items were missing.

An officer responded to St. Mary’s Court for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that sometime between October 11th and October 16th items had been taken from her home. The matter is being investigated.

Officers responded to Heath St. for a report of a pellet gun being shot through the window. The reporting party stated that someone had shot at her house creating a small hole in the window. The incident is under investigation.

On October 22, an officer responded to Park Vale for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that a package had been stolen from her foyer.

Officers responded to Station St. for a report of an unarmed robbery. The reporting party stated that she had been sitting outside when a female grabbed her purse and attempted to take it. The reporting party stated that she yelled at the woman who then fled with a male party towards the T stop. Officers located two people matching the description on Brookline Avenue. Both parties were placed under arrest for Attempt to Commit a Crime—Unarmed Robbery.

An officer in the area of Beacon and Harvard Streets was notified that a known party with two active warrants was in the area. Based upon the man’s description, the officer was able to locate the man, confirm his identity and warrants, and place the man under arrest.

In the evening of October 16, officers were dispatched to the area of Lawton and Thorndike Streets for a report of an assault and battery. The victim stated that he had been sitting in his vehicle on Lawton St. when he noticed someone walk by on the sidewalk. The victim then stated that he was pulled to the ground from the driver’s side door by an unknown male party. The suspect then began to attack the victim while screaming “why did you do this to me.” The victim stated that the suspect then stopped, ran towards the intersection and began to charge back when he was able to enter his vehicle and lock the doors. The suspect was reported to have fled towards Commonwealth Ave. The suspect is described as a young Hispanic male, thin build, with facial hair and wavy hair pulled pack. The incident is under investigation.

At approximately 3:20am, an officer observed a male party riding a bike from Powell St. onto Browne St. with only a flashing rear light. The officer followed the man onto Browne St. where he emerged from a driveway and appeared to re-place his backpack onto his back. At this time the officer attempted to conduct a field interview. The male party acted hostile and began riding away from the officer after being identified. Based upon this suspicious activity, the officer requested additional units to canvas the area. Officers lost sight of the male party on Longwood Ave. but later discovered many discarded items near the Lawrence School Playground. Items included those suggesting that the party was attempting to break into cars. The incident is being investigated.

While conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Independence Drive, an officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

An officer responded to Hawes St. for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had parked her vehicle in her driveway the night before and when she returned in the morning it had been ransacked and items were missing. The matter is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to Evans Rd. for a report of a suspicious person. The reporting party stated that an unknown female had tried to gain access to her locked basement door. The woman stated that she then confronted the individual who left and headed towards the garage area. Officers located the female in question hiding in the area of the garage. While speaking with officers, the unknown female acted erratically and was unable to answer simple questions but admitted to previous drug use. The woman was transported to the hospital pending investigation and determination of her identity. Officers were later able to identify the woman and found that she had two active warrants in her name. Once discharged the woman was placed under arrest.

On October 13, an officer was dispatched to Parkman St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that a package was stolen from his building’s front vestibule that morning.

An officer was dispatched to Washington St. for a report of suspicious activity. The reporting party stated they believed the occupants of a vehicle to be either high or intoxicated. An officer responded and in approaching the vehicle saw the driver holding a spoon of clear liquid and begin to draw it into a syringe. The driver was placed under arrest for possession of heroin and operating with a revoked license and the passenger was placed under arrest for being present where heroin is knowingly kept and possession of a Class A drug.

An officer responded to Kent St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that his bike had been stolen from a bike rack. The incident is being investigated.

An officer was dispatched to the area of Marion and Harvard Streets for a report of a fight in progress. The victim stated he and his wife were walking when a vehicle turned aggressively in front of them and he stated “do you have a problem?” At this point, the victim stated that the car pulled over and the driver attempted to exit and ultimately became entangled with the victim before leaving the scene. Officers located the suspect and he is being charged with assault and battery.

An officer was dispatched to the lower lot of Larz Anderson Park for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that something had been used to pry away the operator’s door latch so that the door could be opened and items were missing from inside.

An officer responded to Cameron St. for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated that his package was reportedly signed for and delivered yet he never received it. The incident is being investigated.

On October 15, officers responded to Harvard St. for a report of a bicycle having just been stolen. Officers were able to locate a man matching the description of the suspect. The victim was able to identify the suspect and he was placed under arrest for Larceny from a Person.

A woman came into the police station to report a larceny. The woman stated that on 10/11 she had locked her bike to a rack on Beacon St. and when she returned, the lock had been cut and the bike was gone.

An officer was dispatched to 98 Clinton Rd. for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated that they had left a bike outside, unlocked and that it had been stolen.

On October 11, an officer was dispatched to Stearns Rd. for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny. The reporting party stated that she had gone out the day before without locking up and when she returned, items were missing.

Information from a motorist helped officers place one man under arrest, cite another.

On October 10, while on patrol in the area of Brookline Village, an officer was informed that two subjects on bikes had just stolen a package from the front of a building. The officer located a man on Brook St. who matched one of the descriptions.  The officer found that this man was in possession of stolen property which he stated his friend had handed him. Officers then located a man matching the second description and this was confirmed by the first suspect. The second suspect was in possession of stolen property as well as a Class A substance. The first subject was cited for receiving stolen property and the second subject was placed under arrest for possession of a Class A and receiving stolen property.

An officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of receiving stolen property. Officers located a man walking a bike with no front tire and carrying a bike tire. Officers determined that the man had stolen the tire and knowingly purchased a stolen bike. The man was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee stated that they had witnessed a woman place items into her bag and leave without paying. Officers located a woman who matched the description and placed her under arrest. While inventorying her property, officers found that the woman was also in possession of various pills. She is being charged with shoplifting and possession of opiates.

A man came into the police station to report a larceny. The man stated that a package had been stolen from his residence on Gibbs Street.

An officer responded to Pleasant St. for a past larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had left his wallet in a business on October 4, and that when he went back to look for it, it was gone. The reporting party also reported seeing fraudulent activity on his credit card. The matter is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to Prescott St. for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that he had parked his vehicle and when he returned items were missing. The incident is being investigated.

Arrest made after an alert employee saw a news story.

Today Police arrested a subject and charged him with Larceny from a building. The subject is accused of stealing a cell phone of an employee from a local store.

Today at 11:45AM a local business owner from Beacon Street called to report they had their cell phone stolen last week from their store. They indicated that a fellow employee was watching the news last night. They saw the story of a store on Beacon Street, were an employee had their cell phone stolen. The story showed a grainy photo of a possible suspect. Having the description of that subject today they went to review their store security video. In the video from last week they see a subject looking very similar to the subject shown on TV last night. Their video actually shows the subject take the phone off the counter. The video was turned over to police. A few hours later around 2:00PM the store employee called to report that they believed the subject from last week seen in the video had shown back up. Police arrived and located the subject out front of the store. Based upon the investigation the subject was placed under arrest, charged with larceny from a building. The investigation is still on going to see if this can be tied to last week’s case and if the subject can be identified as the one in the picture seen on the news. In speaking with the store owners from today they pride themselves with being a family store and proud members of the Brookline Community. They are pleased this had a good outcome, thanks to their employee who had seen the news story. We also give credit to our media partners who ran the story and helped get the word out of the similar past larceny.

On October 5, 2017, an officer was dispatched to Fuller St. for a report of Malicious Damage to an Automobile. The victim stated her car had been parked on Fuller St. for a little over an hour and when she returned there were key marks on both drivers’ side doors.

Officers responded to New Terrace Rd. for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated that she had parked her car on Clinton Rd. earlier that day and when she returned, the license plate from the rear of her car had been stolen.

Officers were dispatched to High St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that during the evening of October 3, his bicycle had been stolen from the building’s vestibule.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of fraud. The manager stated that during the evening of October 6, a man came into the store and purchased items with a counterfeit bill. The incident is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to St. Paul St. for a report of a past larceny. The victim stated that while walking on Pleasant St. on September 29, a car had pulled beside her and asked for directions. She reported that a female passenger then got out of the car and gave the victim a gold ring before driving away. The victim stated that once the car was gone, she noticed that her necklace was gone and a fake gold chain had been draped over her shoulder.

On October 8, an officer was dispatched to Babcock St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that sometime during the last few months items had been stolen from her safe. The matter is under investigation.

Man Sentenced to 3-4 Years in State Prison

On August 18, 2013, Brookline Police received reports of an attempted breaking and entering into offices at 7 Harvard Street in Brookline, MA. During the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that it involved 3 separate offices. Entry was only gained at one office where items were missing. The office was in a state of disarray with papers and other objects moved around. There was a briefcase and polo shirt missing. A coke botle and red t-shirt were also discovered. Various items were taken for processing.

On January 14, 2015, a Brookline Police Department Detective recieved a report from the State Lab that the DNA on the shirt was individualized to a Gerard Cribbie. Cribbie was at this point in 2015 serving a sentence for a similar incident that had occurred on August 6, 2013 within several hundred yards of the Harvard Street incident. This gave him a familiarity with the basic scene. Cribbie was found guily in Massachusetts Superior Court for Breaking & Entering in Nightime with Intent to Commit Felony, and 2 counts of Attempted Breaking & Entering with Intent to Commit Felony. Cribbie received a sentence of 3-4 years in a Massachusetts State Prison.

Early on October 2, officers observed a vehicle traveling on Kent St. with only one headlight illuminated. The officers conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had two active warrants in his name. The driver was placed under arrest.

On October 3, officers were dispatched to Boylston St. for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party stated that a half hour earlier a woman (known to him) had arrived at his residence and began banging on and kicking the front door. The reporting party also stated that he heard crashing and banging and found items broken and knocked over. Officers attempted to speak with the woman in question who became verbally assaultive and combative. The woman was placed under arrest for Willful/Malicious Destruction of Property, Assault and Battery of a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.

An officer was dispatched to Spooner Rd. for a report of a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had left her vehicle unlocked overnight and her belongings were rifled through the next morning. While there, the officer was notified by another resident that her vehicle had also been rifled through. Both women reported nothing missing.

An officer was dispatched to Toxteth St. for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated she had parked her vehicle the night before and that morning her belongings had been rummaged through and items were missing.

Officers responded to the intersection of Beacon St. and St. Paul St. for a report of malicious damage to a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had turned after a stop sign when a man appeared to become upset that he hadn’t been able to cross in the cross walk. The woman reported that the suspect then punched the back driver’s side door of the vehicle leaving a dent. The matter is under investigation.

An officer responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that on Friday 9/29 a group of three males had entered the store and taken multiple items. The incident is under investigation.

Early on September 26, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle traveling on Beacon Street and found that the registered owner had an active warrant in his name. The officer conducted a traffic stop, confirmed the identity of the driver, and placed him under arrest.

A man came into the police department to report a larceny. The man stated that over the weekend his unlocked bike had been taken from his residence on Carlton Street.

In the afternoon of September 26, a man came into the police station to report a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that his car had been left unlocked on Aspinwall Ave. the night before and that this morning items were missing from inside.

An officer responded to a residence on Williams St. for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated that he had parked his bike in the driveway the night before and the next morning the saddlebags were gone.

On September 23, a man came into the police station to report a larceny. The man stated that earlier that day he had secured his bicycle to a rack on Egmont Street and later found items to be missing from the saddlebag.

On September 24, an officer was dispatched to a building on Beacon Street for a report of a past breaking and entering. The reporting party stated that when she arrived to work that morning her office had been rummaged through and a safe had been broken open. The incident is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to lower Beacon Street to take a report of larceny of a bicycle. The reporting person stated that he parked his vehicle, with his bike unlocked, but secured to the roof of his car. He went into a store and a short time later he returned to his vehicle and noticed the bike to be missing from the top of his vehicle. The bike is described a black and orange Pivot brand bike valued at $8000. 

5:50 PM

An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon Street to take a report of larceny from a building.  The reporting party stated that she left her cell phone in plain view near her storefront window. She left the phone unattended and when she returned to retrieve it a short time later it was missing. The reporting party believes a male who came into the store to ask a question may have stolen the phone. The suspicious male was described as a white man, 25-30 years of age, dirty blonde hair, black jeans and a dark colored t-shirt.

On September 19, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Longwood Ave. for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that the cars had been parked, unlocked the night before and appeared to be rifled through the next morning.

During the morning of September 19, an officer observed a known female party on Harvard Street. The officer queried the individual and found that she had an active warrant in her name. The woman was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Cypress Street for a report of an attempted breaking and entering. The reporting party stated that he had been standing inside his apartment when he heard someone attempt to open his front door. He then attempted to get the attention of potential intruder who immediately left the building. The matter is currently under investigation.

On September 20, an officer was dispatched to Colchester St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that he had placed his bike on his front steps earlier that day and that it was now gone.

An officer was dispatched to High Street for a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated she had parked her car the night before and when she returned to it in the morning the passenger door window had been smashed in. The contents of the car had been gone through and various items were missing. The incident is being investigated.

About 1:02 AM, on Friday, September 15, 2017, Officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Beacon St. and St. Marys St. for not having insurance.  The operator will be summonsed into Brookline District Court for the following Offenses: (MGL 90:23) Operating After Revocation – Registration, (MGL 90:34J) Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle, (MGL 90:9) Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was towed.

At 13:15 hrs. Officers responded to an address on Egmont St.  for reports of a partial building collapse. Upon arrival Officers observed a pile of stone rubble on the side walk. No reported injuries, building management was notified and residents were evacuated.

On 9/15/2017 Officers responded to an address on  Heath St to speak to a party in regards to a nurses aid who had forged a number of checks..  An investigation was conducted and  one person will be summonsed into court for Larceny from a Building.

.On Saturday September 16th, 2017 Officers responded to the intersection of Boylston St and Warren St for a single vehicle crash with unknown injuries. The  operator reports falling asleep while driving, she was  issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for MGL Chapter 89 Section 4A: Marked Lanes Violation.

On Saturday September 16, 2017 2 residents arrived at the Brookline Police Station to report that their bike had been stolen from their residence on Marion St. The bike is described as a blue Giant with a medium men's frame worth A report was filed.

On September 16th, 2017, I, Officers responded to Alton Pl for a past package theft. A report was filed.

On 9/17/2017 Officers responded to an address on Washington Street for a traffic crash.  After an investigation it was determined that one of the operators was distracted when the lens fell out of their glasses, which ultimately led to the crash. No injuries reported.

On September 17, 2017 Officers responded to Larz Anderson Park for a possible hazmat situation.  Dispatch received several calls from park patrons stating there was a strong chemical odor coming from inside a park building.  Officers created a 2/10 mile perimeter (roughly 1000 feet) surrounding the ice rink.  The fire department deemed it necessary to evacuate any civilians inside and prohibit entry into the park. A command post was established and units were strategically placed blocking entrances to the park and assisted with evacuation.

The Brookline Fire Department concluded the ammonia detection alarm system malfunctioned, causing a severe leak and safety hazard.  The leak was repaired, and the park was reopened.

On September 17, 2017 at approximately 1700 hours, a women came into the Brookline Police Station to drop off some found property that was abandoned at the bus stop located on Harvard St in Coolidge Corner. Attempts have been made to contact the owner.

On Sunday, September 17, 2017, Officers responded to a radio call for Erratic Operation at the intersection of Washington St. and Greenough St. After locating the vehicle it was believed the operator was intoxicated.  After further investigation the Officers placed the woman under arrest and charged her with the following;

(MGL 90:24) Operating Under the Influence - Liquor

(MGL 90:23) Operating After Suspension - License

(MGL 90:23) Operating After Revocation - Registration

(MGL 90:9) Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle,  (MGL 89:4A) Marked Lanes Violation.

On 9/18/17 Officers responded to an address on Beacon St. to take a report of past malicious damage to property. A staff member informed the Officer that the card reader to the exterior door had been tampered with sometime between 9/16/17 at 1400 hours and 9/18/17 at 0830 hours.  A report was filed and a follow-up by Detectives has ben requested.

On 9/18/17 Officers responded to an address on Francis St for a report of a suspicious male. The reporting party was was startled by a male subject she observed on her back deck. After an investigation the subject was placed under arrest for the attempted B&E.
