8:27am: A bicycle was reported stolen from Netherlands Road. The bike was taken from the porch of a residence, which is believed to have occurred the previous day. A report was taken.

2:35pm: A bicycle theft was reported at a residence on Mason Terrace. In addition to the bike, a skateboard and scooter were also missing. A report was taken.

1:21pm: A woman was arrested during a traffic stop on Harvard Street for driving without a valid license.

8:17pm: A jacket was reported stolen from a local business earlier in the evening. The jacket was not secured at the time it was stolen. A report was taken.

3/18/2016 to 3/20/2016

3/18/2016
7:08am: A bicycle was reported stolen on Beaconsfield Road. The bike was locked and taken with bolt cutters. An abandoned bike not belonging to the caller, which was not there previously, was found at the scene. A report was taken.

4:57pm: A shoplifting was reported at a business on Beacon Street. A suspect was caught and will be summonsed to court.

5:43pm: Tools were reported stolen from a work crew on Linden Place. The area was searched and a report was taken.

3/19/2016
1:12pm: Two vehicles were reported broken into on University Road, believed to have occurred the night before. Both vehicles were unlocked at the time. A report was taken.

3/20/2016
10:47am: A package was stolen from a residence on Stearns Road. Evidence was collected and a report was taken.

5:05pm: A man was arrested on Harvard Street after stealing from a tip jar at a local business. Officers located the man as he was walking away from the scene and took him into custody.

3/17/2016

6:09pm: A backpack was reported stolen from a business on Beacon Street. Camera footage was recovered and a report was taken.

11:49pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Crowninshield Road. The suspect reportedly entered the home, but fled when confronted by the home owner. Officers found no signs of forced entry and no items were reported missing. The matter is under investigation.

3/11/16 to 3/14/16

3/11/2016
9:21am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop at the intersection of Harvard Street and Webster Street for driving with a suspended license.

10:57am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop on Harvard Street for a default warrant related to a prior offense.

4:08pm: A shoplifting in progress was reported on Commonwealth Ave. Officers responded and arrested a suspect who was located nearby. Stolen goods were found in their possession and recovered.

3/12/2016
8:43am: The breaking and entering of a motor vehicle was reported on Walnut Street. The break-in was believed to have occurred sometime over the previous week, and a report was taken.

10:23pm: Two bikes were reported stolen on Mason Terrace. One bike was locked and the second was reportedly unlocked. A report was taken and the matter is under investigation.

3/13/2016
7:56am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop on Newton Street for driving without a license.

8:24am: A past burglary was reported on Cutler Lane. Jewelry was reported missing. The matter is under investigation and a report was taken.

4:39pm: A resident on Lawton Street reported a theft at their home. Items were taken from their residence, possibly by a hired cleaner. A report was taken.

3/14/2016
4:04pm: Two bikes were reported stolen from a residence on Westbourne Terrace. Both bikes had locks, which were found to be cut. A report was taken.

6:59pm: Multiple subjects were arrested at a traffic stop, with a possible connection to previous break-ins. Please see the last blog entry for more details.

3-14-16                                 Arrests
As a result of several burglaries throughout the town an officer stopped 3 subjects in the area of Coolidge St. The stop led to the arrest of 3 subjects for the following offenses:
Possession of Burglarious Tools
Conspiracy to Commit a Felony  Breaking and Entering
Warrant Arrest
One of these subjects has been the suspect in a month long investigation for 18 Burglaries committed in the Town of Brookline

3:17pm: A shoplifting was reported at a business on Commonwealth Ave. A description of the suspects was given and a report was taken.

7:01pm: A resident on Rawson Road called to report a past breaking and entering. A window was found damaged and items were reported missing. Officers collected evidence and a report was taken. The matter is under investigation.

9:41pm: A past breaking and entering was reported on Salisbury Road. Doors and a window screen were found damaged and items were reported missing. The matter is under investigation.

3/7/2016

9:05pm: The breaking and entering of a motor vehicle was reported on Ackers Ave. A phone and wallet were reported stolen. A report was taken.

10:12am: A motor vehicle was reported broken into on Smythe Street, with items taken from the vehicle. The theft occurred in the early morning hours, and a description of a suspect was obtained.

11:23am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop near the intersection of Harvard Street and Thorndike Street. He is being charged with falsifying an inspection sticker.

11:45am: A resident on Walnut Street reported the breaking and entering of their vehicle. The incident likely occurred earlier that morning. Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.  A report was taken.

12:38pm: A shoplifting occurred at a business on Commonwealth Ave. Officers found the suspect as they were leaving the scene and found several stolen items. The suspect will be summonsed to court.

2:41pm: A caller on Washington Street reported a past larceny. Items were reportedly taken from the owner’s residence back in January. A report was taken.

2:45pm: The breaking and entering of a motor vehicle was reported on Leverett Street. Loose change was reported as possibly taken. A report of the incident was taken by officers.

1:13pm: Two bicycles were reported stolen on Gerry Road. Both bikes were taken from outside the residence, and it is believed the theft occurred the previous day. A report was taken.

12:56am: A breaking and entering was reported on Buckminster Road. Police officers arrived and arrested a male suspect.

4:25pm: A package theft was reported at a residence on Beacon Street. A phone was reported missing. A report was taken.

3/6/2016
7:16am: A woman was arrested during a traffic stop for a prior warrant near the intersection of Harvard Ave and Commonwealth Ave.

8:17am: A caller on St. Paul Street reported damage to a neighbor’s rear door. The incident is being investigated as a breaking and entering and a report was taken.

3:48pm: A shoplifting occurred on Beacon Street. A suspect was located and given a no trespass order for the business.

2/24/2016 to 2/28/2016

2:56pm: Officers responded to reports of a shoplifting from a Beacon Street business. The suspect fled before arrival, but a description was given. He was described as a man in his 20s or 30s, wearing a gray sweatshirt. Officers are investigating.

6:08pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Hammond Street. The crime occurred during the late afternoon. Entry was made through a rear window, and jewelry, electronics, and several other items were taken. This case is under investigation.

2/25/2016
2:58pm: A shoplifting was reported at a local business on Beacon Street. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, who fled in a dark jeep or small SUV.

5:19pm: A package theft was reported on Kent Street. A resident reported that a package was taken from their home, possibly earlier in the week. A report was taken.

8:56am: A resident on Francis Street reported the theft of their phone. The theft had occurred a short time earlier. A report was taken.

8:59am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Ave and Ackers Ave.

2:11pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Craftsland Road. Officers found signs of forced entry, and it is believed to have occurred earlier in the morning. The matter is under investigation.

2/27/2016
1:34am: A man was arrested at a traffic stop at the intersection of Harvard Street and Homer Street for an existing warrant.

9:03am: A broken window was reported at a chapel on Harvard Street, although nothing was reported taken. Shortly thereafter, a window was also discovered broken on a vehicle parked nearby, again with nothing reported missing. A report was taken of both incidents.

11:34pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Columbia Street. Signs of forced entry were found, and it is believed that the crime occurred earlier in the afternoon. A laptop was reported stolen. This case is under investigation.

2/28/2016

11:10pm: A resident on Park Street reported that their vehicle was broken into. A window was smashed and a purse was taken. The matter is under investigation.

2/23/2016

1:50pm: Officers responded to a residential alarm on Eliot Street. When they arrived, they found signs of forced entry through a rear window. Officers are investigating this case as a burglary.

3:12pm: A man was arrested during a traffic stop near the intersection of Mountfort Street and St. Mary’s Street. He was brought in on two outstanding warrants and driving with a revoked license.

4:31pm: A bicycle was stolen from a home on Sherman Road. The bike was left unsecured in front of the residence. A report was taken.

4:48pm: A resident reported a past larceny. They stated that jewelry had been taken back in January, and a report was taken.

5:29pm: Officers arrested a man at a traffic stop at the intersection of Cottage Street and Goddard Ave for driving with an expired license.

9:18pm: A resident on Pleasant Street reported a package theft that had occurred earlier that afternoon. The package was delivered but its contents were missing. A report was taken.

11:28am: A man was pulled over for a traffic violation on Beacon Street. Officers arrested the suspect when it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant and possessed of a dangerous weapon.

12:25pm: A resident on Marion Street reported a package theft from their home. A report was taken.

4:59pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Sumner Road. The crime is believed to have occurred earlier that day. The matter is under investigation.

7:21am: A possible shoplifting was reported at a business on Harvard Street. The suspect is described as a tall man in a grey hoodie. The matter is under investigation.

2/20/2016
5:30pm: A Beacon Street business reported a shoplifting in progress. An officer was able to stop the suspect as they left the scene, and the items were recovered. The suspect was summonsed to court.

11:00pm: A breaking and entering was reported on Greenough Circle. The suspected entry point was an unlocked door, and the crime occurred earlier that evening. Officers collected evidence and the matter is under investigation.

2/21/2016
9:39am: An attempted breaking and entering was reported on Highland Road. A screen door was damaged but nothing was reported stolen. The case is still under investigation.

10:31am: A resident of Highland Road reported damage to their neighbor’s screen door. The damage appeared similar to the case reported earlier on Highland Road. Officers inspected the scene and attempted to contact the residents, who were away. This case is under investigation.

4:07pm: A resident of Forest Street reported their snow blower stolen from their garage. A report was taken.

At 8:39pm, a resident reported a breaking and entering at their home on Waverly Street. Officers found signs of forced entry, and several electronics and other valuables were reported missing. The matter is under investigation.

2/18/2016
At 9:30am, a fire broke out on Orchard Road. Brookline Police officers were on scene to support Brookline Fire Department, Boston Fire Department, Newton Fire Department, and Fallon Ambulance.

At 9:43am, a man was arrested during a traffic stop on Boylston for driving with a suspended license.

At 6:39pm, a business on Commonwealth Ave reported a shoplifting that had occurred a few minutes prior. The suspects are described as a white female in a camo jacket and a white male in a black hoodie. The matter is under investigation.

At 6:55pm, a resident on Roberts Street reported a breaking and entering. A door was found open and several items were reported missing. The matter is under investigation.

At 1:04am, a man was arrested at a traffic stop near the intersection of Harvard Street and Alton Place. He is charged with driving with a suspended license.

At 12:25pm, a caller on Egmont Street reported malicious damage done to their vehicle. The vehicle’s tires had been slashed at some point earlier in the week. A report was taken.

At 2:29pm, a resident came to the station to report the theft of a bicycle from Sewall Ave. A report was taken and the matter is under investigation.

At 1:30pm, a caller on Reservoir Road reported the theft of their snow blower. They believe it had been taken the previous day. A report was taken.

At 12:45pm, a resident of Green Street reported the theft of a package, which they believe occurred at some point in the past two weeks. A report was taken.

At 9:40am, a caller on High Street reported the theft of shoes from their hallway. A report was taken.

At 8:51pm, a resident walked into the station to report a case of fraud. The resident had purchased tickets from a stranger, which had turned out to be forgeries. A report was taken.

At 9:50am, a resident walked into the station to report embezzlement by an employee at their business on Harvard Street. The embezzlement occurred over the course of the past year, and the case is under investigation.

At 10:49am, a man was arrested during a traffic stop on Brookline Ave for driving with a suspended license.


At 11:06am, a man was arrested after shoplifting from a business on Beacon Street. The man was caught fleeing from the scene and the stolen items were returned.
