Police Reports November 6, 2014

On November 6, officers responded to a business along Washington St for a shoplifting incident in progress. The shoplifter fled the store, running down Washington St. Officers located a subject matching the description and stopped him. Based on information obtained at the scene, the subject was arrested for shoplifting from the business.


On November 6, an officer responded to Westbourne Ter for a report of a breaking and entering. Upon the individual’s arrival home, her residence appeared to be broken into. Several items were taken from the home. The matter is under investigation.

11/5/2014

Police Reports November 5, 2014

On November 5, an individual came into the police department to report a stolen stroller from Stanton Rd. The stroller was in the yard 11/3 and when the individual returned 11/4, the stroller was missing.

On November 5, an officer observed a vehicle driver the wrong way down a one way street. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after the suspension.

On November 5, an officer responded to Winthrop Rd for a report of as stolen package. The individual was expecting the package on 10/31 and the post office confirmed that delivery. The individual never received the package. This is a common theft. Please consider having the package signed for or picked up at the post office.

On November 5, officers responded to a business along Beacon St for a report of shoplifting. The subject had several items that were taken from the business. The subject was placed under arrest for the shoplifting incident.

On November 5, an individual came into the police department to report a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was locked on 11/3 to a bike rack near Greenough and Tappan St.

On November 5, an officer responded to a business along Harvard St for a report of shoplifting. The subject came into the business and took a car seat then left. The subject is described as a black female, 5’5”-5’8” around 120-130lbs, with long black straight hair, wearing all black clothing under a tan overcoat. On November 5, an officer responded to Beacon St for a report of a past B&E and larceny. The individual’s apartment was broken into and items were taken from the apartment. The incident happened sometime during the day.

Police Reports November 4, 2014


On November 4, an individual reported having her bicycle stolen from a bike rack on Beacon St. The bike was locked there the evening of 10/31. When the individual came back on 11/2 to retrieve the bike, she noticed it was missing.

11/3/2014

Police Reports November 3, 2014

On November 3, an officer monitoring traffic and observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker along Brookline Ave. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was arrested as a result of the suspension.

On November 3, an officer responded to Thornton Rd for a report of larceny. The individual stated that all four of his tires were stolen from his vehicle while parked on the street. This incident occurred sometime overnight.

On November 3, an officer conducting speed enforcement along Beacon St observed a vehicle appear to be traveling over the speed limit. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver was not duly licensed to driver a motor vehicle and was placed under arrest.


On November 3, two subjects were arrest along Commonwealth Ave for shoplifting at a nearby business. Items were found on the subjects that are believed to be stolen and tools known to be used for shoplifting.

Police Reports October 31, 2014 through November 2, 2014

On October 31, officer's responded to Copley St for a report of a breaking and entering of a residence and a motor vehicle. The resident went to unlock her vehicle and saw the subject sitting in the car. The resident then called 911 and the subject exited the vehicle. Officers arrived and saw the subject hiding in nearby bushes. The subject then fled resulting in a foot chase. The subject was captured and placed under arrest. Several items were located on the subject that is believed to be stolen from other residence or motor vehicles. The subject is believed to be involved in other breaking and enterings of residence/vehicles in the Copley St and Commonwealth Ave area.

On November 1, officers responded to a business along Beacon St for a report of two shoplifters in the process of taking merchandise. Upon officer’s arrival, the two subjects were stopped by police. One of the subjects fled the scene which resulted in a foot pursuit. After the chase, the subject was captured and several items that were believed to be stolen were found on him. The two subjects were placed under arrest for the incident.


On November 2, an officer responded to a business along Commonwealth Ave for a report of a stolen wallet. The individual left his wallet unattended while at the business. While the individual was getting ready to leave, he noticed his wallet was missing. The matter is under investigation.

B&E 10/31/2014

At 5:30am this morning, officer's responded to Copley St for a report of a breaking and entering of a residence and a motor vehicle. The resident went to unlock her vehicle and saw the subject sitting in the car. The resident then called 911 and the subject exited the vehicle. Officers arrived and saw the subject hiding in nearby bushes. The subject then fled resulting in a foot chase. The subject was captured and placed under arrest. Police Reports October 29, 2014

On October 29, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement along Boylston St and Hammond St where they observed a vehicle drive through a red light. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver had a suspended license and was placed under arrest for operating after the suspension.

On October 29, an individual made a report of receiving a call from someone claiming to be the IRS. This was a fraudulent call. Please remember to never give out personal information over the phone.


On October 29, an individual came to the Brookline Police Department to make a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was broken into sometime over night along Orchard Rd. Please remember to lock your car doors.

Police Reports October 28, 2014

On October 28, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light along Dean Rd. The driver was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver was not licensed to drive a vehicle and was placed under arrest for operating without a license.

On October 28, a subject was arrest for larceny of a bicycle along St. Paul St. The subject had been missing from Lawrence School and later found in the subject’s possession.


 On October 28, an officer responded to a business along Commonwealth Ave for a report of shoplifting. The subject came into the business, took two jackets, and then fled the store. The subject is described as a white male, around 5’ 9”-6’0” tall wearing a dark hooded jacket, short spiked hair, unshaven beard, with a messenger bag. Shortly after, another shoplifting incident occurred at the same business. A subject came into the store, stole two jackets then fled. Street Closures for Halloween

Due to prior years, there have been large numbers of trick or treaters in various neighborhoods. These neighborhoods have petitioned the Town for closure of the roads that are known to be busy. Below are a list of the roads that will be closed and their times.

Russett Rd. (between Independence & Asheville) - 5:30-8:00pm

Police Reports October 27, 2014

On October 27, an officer conducting traffic enforcement along Harvard St stopped a vehicle that did not have an inspection sticker. The officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver had a previous warrant for his arrest. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrant.


On October 27, an office responded to a report of a breaking and entering of two motor vehicles. The first individual reported her vehicle was entered during the weekend while parked on Beacon St. Several items were missing from the vehicle. The second individual reported that several items were also taken from her vehicle. Both vehicles are believed to have been left unlocked. The matter is currently under investigation. Police Reports October 24 through October 26, 2014

On October 24, an individual came into Brookline Police Department to make a report of a stolen bicycle. Her son’s bicycle was taken some time between October 17 and October 20.

On October 24, an officer responded to Chestnut St for a report of a larceny. The individual believes that money was taken from her residence sometime Tuesday when no one was home. Please remember to lock your doors when leaving your residence.

On October 25, an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn on Beverly Road. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked for his license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest.

On October 25, an officer responded to Fuller St for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The vehicle appeared to be rummaged through. The vehicle was left unlocked. Please remember to lock your car doors.

On October 26, an officer conducting traffic enforcement conducted a random query of a passing vehicle showing that the owner’s right to operate had been revoked. The vehicle was pulled over along Beacon St and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was revoked and the driver was placed under arrest for operating after the revocation.

On October 26, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed along Harvard St. The officers initiated a traffic stop and asked the driver for their license and registration. Based on information obtained at the stop, the subject was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol.


On October 26, officer responded to a business for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the store manager who stated that there were two subjects walking around the store. One of the subjects took two items that were on display and put them into his bag. The two men then fled the store once they were confronted. The first subject is described as a white male, mid 20’s, 6 feet tall, wearing a baseball cap, black puffy jacket, blue jeans and a stud near his right eye. The second subject is described as a white male, mid 20’s, 5’7”, wearing a blue baseball cap backwards, a gray hooded sweatshirt with a school logo on the front, blue jeans and light facial growth. On October 23, an officer responded to Lawton St for a report of a stolen license plate. The individual stated that upon returning to her vehicle that afternoon, she noticed her plate was missing. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports October 21, 2014

On October 21, an officer responded to Russett Rd for a larceny report. The individual reported that tools were stolen from the driveway.


On October 21, an officer responded to a business along Commonwealth Ave for a larceny report. The employee had an encounter with the subject after the subject took money from the register. The subject dropped some of the cash then fled the store. The subject is described as black male, medium complexion, 40 years old, around 5’9”-5’10”, wearing a black coat with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath, light colored jeans, black sneakers and a navy blue baseball cap with a grey design. The subject was also with another person described as a black female, medium complexion, 40 years old, around 5’4” with short black hair possibly dyed pink in the front, wearing a black jacket and grey sweatpants. Police Reports October 20, 2014

On October 20, an officer responded to Park St for a report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was taken sometime between October 19 and October 20. The lock on the bicycle appeared to be cut. The matter is under investigation.

On October 20, an officer responded to a residence where the individual believed she was a victim of fraudulent charges. Her card was charged several times at different businesses. This is a common crime, please be aware and monitor your charges.


On October 20, an officer responded to a business in Coolidge Corner for a larceny report. The victim left their backpack unattended and when they returned it was missing. Please remember to take your belongings with you and do not leave them unattended.

Police Reports October 17, 2014 through October 19, 2014

On October 17, an officer observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a pedestrian on a crosswalk along Harvard St. The vehicle was pulled over. The officer asked the driver for their license and registration. The driver was not licensed to drive and was placed under arrest.

On October 17, an officer responded to Park St for a report of a package theft. The individual stated that the package was listed as delivered on October 16 but has not received it. The matter is under investigation.

On October 17, an officer responded to Beacon St for a report of a breaking and entering. The individual stated that upon arrival back to the residence, it appeared that items were moved and looked through. Several items were missing from the residence. The matter is under investigation.


On October 18, an officer was stopped by an individual for a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. A phone that was left in the vehicle was stolen. The doors of the vehicle were left unlocked. Please remember to lock your car doors and take valuables with you.

Police Reports October 16, 2014

On October 16, an officer was conducting traffic enforcement along Harvard St with an expired inspection sticker. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended and the driver was placed under arrest for the suspension.


On October 16, a police cruiser was struck from behind while stopped at a red light along Harvard St. The officers then approached the occupants of the vehicle. Based on information obtained during the interaction, it was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and his license was suspended.

Police Reports October 14, 2014

October 14, officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, an employee said that two cell phones were stolen from the business by two subjects. The subjects then fled the store. One subject was stopped and placed under arrest for the shoplifting incident.


On October 14, an officer conducting traffic enforcement along Harvard St conducted a random query on a passing vehicle. The vehicle had an invalid inspection sticker and was pulled over. The passenger in the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and the officer asked for their license. The passenger had a warrant and was placed under arrest.

Police Reports October 10 through October 13, 2014

On October 11, an officer responded to a business along Harvard St for a report of a larceny. A laptop was stolen from a table in the business. The matter is under investigation.

On October 11, an officer responded to Centre St for a report of a stolen bicycle. The individual locked her bicycle sometime the night before and upon arrival to the location the next morning, she noticed it was missing.

On October 12, through random query it was determined that the owner of a passing vehicle had a suspended license. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver had a suspended license and wad placed under arrest.


On October 13, an individual called into the police station to make a report of a larceny. An officer reported to Thronton Rd, where the resident resides. The resident stated that a package was stolen from her residence sometime after September 26. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports October 9, 2014

On October 9, an officer observed a vehicle with an inoperative tail light along Amory St. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was suspended, his insurance was revoked and the vehicle was unregistered. The driver was placed under arrest.

On October 9, an officer responded to Commonwealth Ave for a report of a larceny. The individual left some items in a locker, secured with a lock. Upon his arrival back to his locker, he noticed that the lock was missing and some of his belongings were gone. The matter is under investigation.

On October 9, an individual came into the police department to report a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The individual’s vehicle was parked on Stanton Rd the night before. Items were taken from his vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked. Please remember to lock your car doors, especially overnight.


On October 9, an office responded to Claflin Rd for a report of stolen packages. Two packages were believed to be stolen from the address. Please have packages signed for or schedule for a pick up at the post office.

Police Reports October 8, 2014

On October 8, an officer observed a vehicle go through a red light at the intersection of Boylston St and Cypress St. The officer pulled over the vehicle and asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver’s license was revoked and the driver was placed under arrest.

On October 8, an officer responded to Kent St for a report of a larceny. The individual stated that a computer and another electronic device were taken from the apartment sometime in the morning or afternoon. The matter is under investigation.


On October 8, an officer responded to Park St for a report of a stolen package. The individual stated that the package was delivered sometime on September 29 but she could not locate it. The matter is under investigation.
