Monday, August 4

NOISE COMPLAINT

A noise complaint on Holland Rd/Buckminster Rd was called into the Brookline Police Department.

Officers received report of screams from the middle of the street on Westbourne Tr. 

DISTURBANCE

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance including a physically aggressive individual. No crime was reported.

HARASSMENT

Officers responded to a case of harassment at a business on Harvard St. 

PACKAGE THEFT

An individual on Pleasant St. reported a package theft from their apartment lobby. 

LARCENY

Officers received report that a set of keys were stolen from a lobby on Pleasant St. The owner unintentionally left their keys on a couch and found that they'd been taken a few minutes later. They had their locks changed and were advised to continue to be cautious in the future. 

BAT COMPLAINT

An individual on Pleasant St. reported that they witnessed a bat flying around the ground level of their building. Animal control was informed of the situation. 

Tuesday, August 5

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

An individual on Chestnut St. reported that their neighbor's dog had been barking since the middle of the night. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY 

Officers responded to a report of a possible theft on Adams Street. The reporting party stated that cash was missing from their wallet and believed it had been stolen.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on Naples Road. The reporting party stated that their security camera captured footage of an unknown individual entering the backyard and attempting to open the back door of the residence.

SHOPLIFTING

Employees at a business on Harvard Street reported a past shoplifting incident. According to staff and security footage, the suspect collected multiple items from around the store and concealed them in a backpack that was also for sale. The suspect then fled the premises before employees could intervene.

FOUND PROPERTY

The front desk of the Brookline Police Department received a cell phone found in the rose garden area of Still St. Park. The cell phone is being stored for safekeeping. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

An individual reported that they witnessed two people attempt to open the doors of multiple vehicles on Harvard Street.

FOUND PROPERTY

A cell phone was turned into the Police Department for safekeeping. It was found on Beacon St. 

DISPUTE

Two individuals engaged in a verbal dispute over a parking spot on St Paul Street. 

Wednesday, August 6

BAT EXPOSURE

An individual on Beacon Street reported being awoken by a bat in their bedroom. The reporting party was able to isolate the bat while the Brookline Police responded to the scene to transport it for rabies testing. The test results came back negative.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

Officers received report of raccoons on the roof of a residence on Babcock St. 

SHOPLIFTING

Officers responded to a report of shoplifting on Washington Street. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

A case of malicious damage was reported on Clyde Street. An unknown individual painted the walls and floors of an unoccupied home with yellow and red paint.

FRAUD

A case of fraud on Longwood Avenue was reported to the Brookline Police Department. The victim was contacted by a caller posing as a representative from the Identity Fraud Department, who instructed them to withdraw money from their bank accounts and transfer it onto multiple gift cards. After providing the gift card numbers to the caller, the victim received no further communication. 

Thursday, August 7

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

Officers received an animal complaint from an individual walking their dog on Hawes Street. According to the reporting party, another dog, off leash, attacked their dog. No injuries were reported.

PACKAGE THEFT

An individual reported that a package was stolen from the lobby of their residence on Stearns Rd. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

A report was filed regarding an individual seen sawing the chain of a motorcycle on Beacon St. While it is unclear whether the person was attempting to steal the motorcycle, the reporting party found the behavior suspicious and contacted the Brookline Police. 

THEFT

Two individuals reported that their wallets were stolen from a closed cabinet at a school on VFW Parkway. The cabinets were not locked, however there has not been an issue with theft at this location previously. 

SHOPLIFTING

A business manager on Harvard Street reported a past shoplifting incident involving several items. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Officers responded to a report of a possible car break-in on Washington Street. The vehicle’s passenger-side window was found shattered.

FRAUD

An individual was scammed through a fraudulent apartment listing. The reporting party submitted their first deposit and was asked to send another deposit, this time larger than the first. Afterwards, the fraudulent party missed the apartment tour and did not communicate with the individual again. The individual quickly realized they were scammed and reported their situation to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department. Officers recommend that the individual file claims for fraud with their bank. 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A noise complaint on Beacon Street was brought to the attention of the Brookline Police Department. The reporting party heard a singular voice yelling and reported their concerns.

Friday, August 8

THEFT

A theft occurred on Harvard St.

FORGERY

The Brookline Police Department discovered that two individuals attempting to retrieve an impounded vehicle committed forgery and uttering by presenting a falsified notarized document.

PACKAGE THEFT

Officers received report of a package theft from a residence on Beacon St. 

SHOPLIFTING

A shoplifting on Harvard Street was reported. The individual was arrested at the scene.

Saturday, August 9

TRESPASSING

Officers responded to a report of trespassing at a residence on Washington Street. 

THEFT

An individual on Egmont Street reported that they have not received a check that was delivered. 

FRAUD

The front desk of the Brookline Police Department received a report of fraud. The victim was informed that their bank and phone accounts had been compromised and subsequently contacted an individual claiming to represent their bank. The caller instructed the victim to withdraw funds from their account and purchase gold. After obtaining the gold, the victim was directed to hand it over to an individual outside their residence. The victim was advised by police to follow up with their bank and to report the incident to the major credit reporting bureaus.

SHOPLIFTING

A shoplifting incident occurred on Commonwealth Ave. The suspect will be summoned to the Brookline District Court. 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

Officers responded to Halls Pond at Amory Park for a reported deceased animal complaint.  

Sunday, August 10

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

An individual reported seeing an individual follow them on Chestnut Pl. 

ABANDONED PROPERTY

A yellow bicycle was left on the baseball field on Robinson Playground for about a week.

BAT COMPLAINT

Officers received report of a bat inside a residence on Longwood Ave. Bay State Wildlife was notified and the exposed individual was advised to seek medical attention as a precaution.
