Police Reports 3/20/2014

In the early morning of March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Washington St. with a defective headlight. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed the driver acting nervous and agitated. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was cited for possession of less than one ounce and for a defective headlight.

On March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travel through the stop sign at Newton St. and Goddard Ave. without stopping. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver did not have a license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for not being duly licensed and the stop sign violation. The owner of the vehicle was issued a citation for allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

On March 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Washington St. with a rejected inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A check of the vehicle and the driver revealed that the vehicle status was revoked, the driver’s license was suspended, and the driver had a warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to inspect the motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, and operating after suspension.

Police Reports 3/19/2014

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle cut across two lanes of traffic on Beacon St. without using a turn signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop and when approaching the vehicle detected an odor of fresh marijuana. While speaking to the operator, the officer observed nervous and fidgety behavior. Officers found the driver to be in possession of marijuana, prescription drugs and pills without a prescription, multiple cell phones, and cash. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for a marked lanes violation, no directional while turning, and possession of class B with intent to distribute. The driver was also given a citation for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana.

On March 19, dispatch gave out information on a shoplifting that had just occurred at a store on Beacon Street. An officer observed the vehicle that the suspect got into driving on Harvard Ave. and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The passenger matched the description of the suspect and was placed under arrest for larceny. The stolen merchandise was found in her purse and jacket. The driver was cited for no inspection sticker and no license in possession and was sent on her way.

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at Dean Road and Druce Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver was not duly licensed. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and not being duly licensed.

On March 19, an officer was dispatched to Winchester St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that when she returned home from a walk with her daughter, she had left their stroller at the foot of the residence’s stairs close to the sidewalk. When the woman returned later for the stroller, it was gone. The matter is under investigation.

On March 19, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the middle lane of Beacon St. turn left across the trolley tracks onto Washington St. while a vehicle waited in the left turn lane with a red arrow. The officer signaled for the driver to pull over and found that the driver was operating with an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed.

On March 18, an officer was dispatched to a residential building on Boylston St. to take a larceny report. The reporting party stated that he had had a package stolen from the building foyer. The man stated that UPS told him the package had been delivered yet he never received it. The matter is under investigation.

On March 18, an officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a report of past shoplifting. The store owner stated that on March 9 and 10th a female entered the store and used a plastic container to steal frozen yogurt from a machine. The matter is being investigated.

Police Reports 3/16/2014

On March 16, an officer was dispatched to Winchester St. and Atherton Rd. for a motor vehicle crash. The officer observed a vehicle that had driven up Atherton Rd. the wrong way and appeared to have hit a tree. At the scene, a witness reported seeing the vehicle hit his cousin’s car, drive off and hit a tree. The officer spoke to the driver who appeared unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him. The driver was placed under arrest and charged for operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and a one-way violation.

On March 12, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Clinton Road and Penniman Road. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and discovered that the driver had an outstanding warrant. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for the stop sign violation.

On March 10, an officer was dispatched to Park St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she had parked on Park St. and had returned to her vehicle approximately an hour later at which time she discovered that her front passenger window was shattered and her purse and iPad were missing. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 3/7/2014 through 3/9/2014

On March 7, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Upland Rd. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle in his driveway the evening before and had left it unlocked. When the man went to retrieve his laptop bag from the car a little after midnight, the man found that the laptop bag and its contents were missing and items in the car had been rifled through. The matter is under investigation.

On March 7, officers observed a vehicle traveling on Harvard St. change lanes abruptly and cut off another vehicle without signaling. The vehicle proceeded to slow down to approximately 5mph which due to the flow of traffic was an unsafe speed. The officers initiated a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver they observed red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to use a turn signal.

On March 7, an officer was dispatched to Manchester Rd. for a scam report. The victim stated that she had received a call that she believed to be from her grandson who said he had been arrested in Mexico and needed bail money. The grandson said that she would receive a call from an attorney about wiring the money to him. The woman received the call from the attorney and sent money by wire. The next morning the victim spoke to her grandson who stated that he hadn’t been in Mexico or arrested. The matter is under investigation.

On March 8, an officer observed a vehicle travel through a red light at the intersection of Kent Street and Longwood Avenue. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and spoke to both the driver and the passenger. The officer observed that the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and glossy, her speech was slurred, and she smelled of alcohol. Officers also detected an odor of marijuana and found that more than one ounce of marijuana was in the car. Both the driver and passenger were charged with Possession Class D with Intent to Distribute and the driver was also cited for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to stop (red light).

On March 8, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver’s license was revoked and he had an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On March 8, an officer responded to Perry St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had a package shipped to her, the Postal Service confirmed delivery, yet she never received the package. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston St. at a high rate of speed and making illegal lane changes. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for speeding, marked lanes violation, and operating after suspension.

On March 9, officers went to a residence on Chestnut St. for two active warrants for a suspect. The officers placed the man under arrest for the warrants.

On March 9, an officer responded to Cypress St. for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that his portable LCD player was taken from the trunk of his rental car. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, an officer was dispatched to a restaurant on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had placed her laptop on a table and then joined her friend at another table for approximately 30 minutes. When the victim returned to her table, the laptop was gone. The matter is under investigation.

On March 9, a man came into the Brookline Police station to report that his car had been stolen. The man stated that his car had been parked on Harvard St. and when he returned the next day, it was gone. The matter is being investigated.

Police Reports 3/6/2014

On March 6, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling in the area of Boylston St. and Reservoir Road. The search indicated a possible warrant hit for the vehicle’s registered owner so the officer initiated a traffic stop. Dispatch confirmed that the driver had two active warrants in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On March 6, a woman came into the Brookline Police Station to report a larceny from Ashville Road. The woman stated that she had placed an order online and UPS tracking indicated the package had been delivered, yet the woman reported never receiving the package. The matter is under investigation.

On the night of March 6, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. without headlights on. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and while speaking with the driver, he observed an odor of marijuana. The officer ran a search on the driver and the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver did not have a license in Massachusetts and his license from New York was revoked. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for failure to display headlights and not being duly licensed. The passenger had two arrest warrants in effect. The passenger was placed under arrest and cited for failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Police Reports 3/5/2014

On March 5, an officer was dispatched to Sewall Ave. for a report of suspicious emails. The victim stated that she received an email she had believed to be from her son, the email address was off by one letter, asking for a favor. When she asked what the favor was, she received an email back asking for money to be wired to an account. The emails were found to be a scam and the matter is under investigation.

On March 5, a man came to the Brookline Police Station to report a past breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The man stated that on Monday March 3, he parked his vehicle on Pond Ave. with his iPod charging inside. When he returned to the vehicle an hour later, the iPod was gone. No other items were taken.

On March 5, an officer was dispatched to Toxteth St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that a laptop had been shipped to him and tracking information said that it had been delivered the day before. The man reported never receiving the package.

Police Reports 3/4/2014

On March 4, officers traveled to Thatcher St. to carry out an arrest warrant. The suspect was placed under arrest and a search yielded cash, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. The suspect is being charged with Possession of Class A with Intent to Distribute.

On March 4, an officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. for a reported money scam by phone. The owner of the business stated that an employee received a call from an individual, claiming to be from NSTAR, who stated the power would be disconnected to the business. Later in the day, the owner received a call from the same individual who said the business needed to make an immediate payment or the power would be shut off. The matter is under investigation.

On March 4, an officer monitoring the speed of motor vehicles on Allandale Rd. observed a vehicle travelling at a speed in excess of the posted 30mph. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and speeding.

On March 4, an officer responded to the area of Boylston St. at High St. for a call involving erratic operation of a vehicle. The officer observed a vehicle driving with its tires touching the solid yellow line and initiated a motor vehicle stop. While talking to the driver, the officer observed that her speech was slurred, eyes were glassy, and there was a substance appearing to be vomit on her right leg and lap area. The driver was placed under arrest and charged for operating under the influence of liquor and failure to stay entirely within marked lanes.

On March 4, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for a minor traffic offense. Later in the day, officers observed the same vehicle exhibiting suspicious behavior, pulling into various alley ways near St. Paul Street and Egmont Street. Officers approached the vehicle on foot and spoke to the driver and passenger. The officers observed balloons scattered around the interior of the car, a large blue nitrous tank on the passenger side floor, and a marijuana pipe. Both the driver and passenger were placed under arrest for Inhaling a Toxic Substance.

On March 3, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. pull into a metered space at the corner of Harvard and Beals Streets. The vehicle then backed onto Beals St. facing the wrong direction on a posted one way street and exited the street driving in the wrong direction. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had an expired license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, one way violation, unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, and attaching plates.

On March 3, an officer was dispatched to Thatcher St. for a report of theft. The victim stated that when she arrived home from work, a package that had been delivered for her was already opened and the contents were missing. The matter is under investigation.

Police Reports 2/28/2014 through 3/2/2014

On February 28, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The search revealed that the vehicle had a failed inspection sticker and the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the status of the driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 28, an officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop for a red light on Harvard Street. The driver was found to be operating without a license and was placed under arrest.

On February 28, dispatch broadcasted a report of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had just occurred on Boylston Street. One suspect had fled onto Boylston St. in a vehicle and the other suspect was being chased on Boylston by the victim and two witnesses on foot. The victim reported seeing a vehicle pull up next to his van with two people inside and then seeing one of the suspects inside of his van. When approached, both suspects fled the scene. An officer observed a man matching the description of one of the suspects hiding on Heath Hill. Detectives apprehended the man and placed him under arrest. The man is charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

On February 28, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Elba St. for a report of annoying phone calls. The residents reported receiving multiple calls from an unknown party who demanded that they owed money and needed to pay. The matter is being investigated.

On March 1, an officer responded to Salisbury Rd. for a report of erratic operation of a motor vehicle. It had been reported that a vehicle had left a residence on Salisbury Rd., struck a snow bank, struck a tree, and then continued driving. The officer located a vehicle matching the description and spoke with the driver. While speaking with the man, the officer observed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils, and an odor of alcohol. The man was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of drugs, and leaving the scene of an accident/property damage.

On March 2, officers ran a query of a vehicle travelling on Washington St. which revealed that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and a revoked registration status. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and found that the driver had an active warrant in effect and her right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The woman was placed under arrest for the warrant and was cited for revoked insurance, revoked registration, unregistered motor vehicle, operating after suspension, and expired inspection.

On March 2, officers responded to a store Harvard St. for a report of an assault and battery. Officers spoke to both parties, neither of whom wanted to press charges. Officers found that one of the parties had an active warrant in effect and he was placed under arrest.

On March 2, an officer observed a vehicle make a left turn on Beacon St. where left turns were prohibited. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and a left turn violation.

On February 27, an officer responded to a store on Beacon St. for a report of a shoplifter. The manager reported that a man had entered the store, removed an item from its security cord and left with the item. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 27, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on West Roxbury Parkway at a speed greater than the posted 35mph. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver did not have a license but did have an active warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for speeding, not being duly licensed, and having an active warrant.

On February 27, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Sumner Rd. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny of property. The home owner reported that while at work, someone broke into her home. The victim reported that cash and items were taken from the house. An investigation is being conducted.

On February 26, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Boylston Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was cited and placed under arrest.

On February 26, an officer ran a random query on a vehicle travelling on Heath Street. The query revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the status of the driver’s license. The driver was cited and placed under arrest for operating after suspension.

On the evening of February 26, an officer observed a vehicle in the lower parking lot of Larz Anderson Park despite the park being closed to the public after dark. The vehicle began traveling on Goddard Ave. and the officer observed that the passenger side brake light was not illuminating. The officer conducted a traffic stop and requested identification for both the driver and the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt. A query of the passenger revealed that he had an outstanding warrant and he was placed under arrest. The driver was cited for defective equipment and sent on her way. During an inventory of the passenger’s property, police found cocaine and a stolen credit card. The passenger is being charged with possession of a stolen credit card, possession of a controlled substance Class B, the arrest warrant, and the seatbelt violation.

On February 26, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The query revealed that the status of the vehicle was revoked due to it being uninsured. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and confirmed the status of the vehicle. The driver was cited for uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, and operating after revocation of registration and the car was towed.

Police Reports 2/25/2014

On February 25, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Beacon Street. The query showed that the registered owner of the vehicle had an active warrant so the officer initiated a traffic stop. The warrant was confirmed and the man was placed under arrest. During an inventory of the man’s car, officers found cash, a cell phone, and marijuana. The man is also being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class D, with Intent to Distribute.

On February 25, officers were dispatched to Dudley St. for a report of a subject who had entered a home and left when confronted by the resident.  Officers located a man matching the description given by the caller in a nearby parking lot. The man was placed under arrest for breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony.

On February 25, an officer responded to Singletree Rd. for a report of someone entering locked vehicles. Witnesses reported seeing a man enter two separate vehicles before leaving the scene in a different car. The owner of one of the cars reported credit cards being taken from inside the car. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 25, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of Beacon Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A search into the driver revealed that they did not have a driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed.

On February 25, a store manager approached an officer in regard to a suspicious person that had just left their store on Harvard Street. The manager reported seeing a man in the store who had intended to steal store merchandise. The officer observed a male matching the suspect’s description farther down Harvard Street. Officers found the man in possession of stolen merchandise. The man was placed under arrest for shoplifting as well as an active warrant.

On February 25, an officer observed a vehicle travel through the intersection of Newton St. and Goddard Ave. without stopping for the stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating without a license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for unlicensed operation and failure to stop for a stop sign.

On February 25, an officer responded to a residential building on Beacon St. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny. A resident reported arriving home and finding several items displaced throughout the apartment. The resident and her roommate both reported several items missing from the apartment. The matter is currently under investigation.

Police Reports 2/24/2014

On February 24, officers responded to a residence on Orchard Rd. with multiple arrest warrants for two parties. Once entry to the residence was achieved, police searched the residence and located the two parties. Both were placed under arrest for their respective warrants and one was also charged with resisting arrest.

On February 24, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop and a check into the driver showed that he had a straight warrant in effect. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 24, an officer observed an expired inspection sticker on a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and expired inspection sticker.

On February 24, an officer ran a query of a vehicle travelling on Commonwealth Avenue. The search showed that the registered owner had an expired license. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and observed nervous behavior from the driver. The driver was removed from the vehicle and found in possession of heroin. The man was placed under arrest and charged with possession of Class A heroin.

Police Reports 2/21/2014 through 2/23/2014

On February 21, an officer observed a vehicle roll through a stop sign at the intersection of Pearl St. and Brookline Ave. without coming to a complete stop. The officer initiated a traffic stop. During his interaction with the driver, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicles interior and found the driver in possession of marijuana. The driver was cited for a stop sign violation and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On February 21, an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal U-turn on Harvard Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had an active warrant. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrant and cited for the illegal U-turn.

On February 21, an officer was dispatched to a store on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The manager stated that a customer had approached her and pointed out a male who was taking items off of the shelves and placing them in his pockets. The manager also observed the male taking items and confronted him. The suspect rushed out of the store and the matter is currently under investigation.

On February 21, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Manchester Rd. for a report of larceny.
A resident reported that she had had two packages delivered that morning but when she went back to retrieve them a few hours later, they were gone.

On February 21, officers responded to a residence on Sherrin Rd. for a report of burglary. Residents reported that their house had been broken into and jewelry was stolen from the bedroom. The matter is being investigated.

On February 22, officers responded to Dale St. for an attempted burglary. The resident stated she was woken by her home alarm going off and informed it was triggered by the basement door. The woman found the door to be ajar and the glass on the top portion of the door was broken. Officers observed footprints in the snow leading towards the door. The matter is under investigation.

On February 22, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Beacon St. with no front license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and cited for operating after suspension and failure to display 2 red letter plates.

On February 22, officers responded to Beacon St. for a traffic crash. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle that had rear ended another vehicle, officers observed glassy eyes and an odor of liquor. Tire marks leading up to where the accident occurred indicate that the driver was operating at a speed in excess of the posted 30mph. The driver was taken into police custody and was cited for speeding, following too closely, and operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

On February 23, officers ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The query revealed that the vehicle had a failed inspection sticker and the officers conducted a motor vehicle stop. It was found that the driver had an active arrest warrant and he was placed under arrest. The officers observed an odor of marijuana and found the driver to be in possession. The driver was cited for failure to inspect a motor vehicle, no license in possession, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

On February 20, an officer came to a stop at a red light on Harvard St. behind three vehicles. The vehicle directly in front of the officer was very loud while idling as if there was a problem with the muffler. When the light turned green, the vehicle accelerated and the muffler became louder than reasonable. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after license suspension and defective equipment (muffler).

On February 20, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Beverly Rd. displaying a commercial license plate but no commercial owner markings on the sides of the vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been revoked. The driver was placed under arrest.

On February 20, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard Street. The officer was alerted of a possible warrant match for the registered owner of the vehicle and they conducted a motor vehicle stop. Dispatch confirmed that the driver had an active warrant in effect and the driver was placed under arrest.

Police Reports 2/19/2014

On February 19, an officer observed a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. with a defective brake light and an inspection sticker that failed safety standards. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver to be operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and cited for operating a vehicle that had failed safety standards and having a defective brake light.

On February 19, an officer was dispatched to a gym on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that while working out he had placed his backpack into a locker but had left it unlocked. When he returned from his workout the man stated that his MacBook had been taken from his backpack. The matter is currently under investigation.

On February 19, an officer responded to a residential building on Summit Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that he had ordered multiple items to be delivered by UPS. On Monday, all of the packages had been reported as having been delivered however the man had been out of town. When he returned home, the man found that one of the packages was missing. The matter is being investigated.

On February 19, an officer was dispatched to a store on Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The store manager reported seeing a man enter the store, cut the security cable to a pair of headphones, place the headphones under his jacket and leave. The incident is being investigated.

Police Reports 2/18/2014

On February 18, an officer observed a vehicle on West Roxbury Parkway travel at a high rate of speed. The vehicle moved into the right lane to pass another car and almost hit a jogger, swerving back into the left lane and causing the other car to slam on their brakes to avoid being hit. The officer initiated a traffic stop and a license check showed that the driver only had a permit to operate in Massachusetts. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed as well as cited for unsafe lane change and speeding. The owner of the car was mailed a citation for allowing an unlicensed person to operate a motor vehicle.

On February 18, an officer was dispatched to the area of Boylston and Sumner Rd. for a check of well-being of a male party. The officer observed the man attempting to hitchhike on Boylston St. The officer informed the man that hitchhiking is illegal and had dispatch run an inquiry of the man. The search showed that the man had an active arrest warrant and he was placed under arrest.
