July 18th Police Reports

Arrest

  • Occurred between 1:45AM and 2:56AM (7/18)-1425 Beacon Street

Amanda Bouthillier was arrested and charged with Operating without a License in Possession, Operating a Motor Vehicle while not duly licensed, and Operating an Unregistered vehicle.

While on patrol police pulled over a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. Upon investigation officers found Bouthillier did not have her license in possession. Bouthillier was subsequently arrested.

Revoked Registration

  • Occurred between 5:56AM and 6:30AM (7/18)- Boylston Street/Caitlin Road

While on patrol officers noticed a vehicle with a revoked registration. Vehicle was stopped and the driver was informed he would be summoned to court for driving with a revoked registration.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 12PM (7/16) and 7:30AM (7/18)-116 Tappan Street

Officers reported to a call of a larceny. Victim reported that several emblems were stolen off her car which was parked in her driveway. The value of these emblems is approximately $400.

July 17th Police Reports

Operating after Suspension

· Occurred at 12:33AM (7/17)- 386 Harvard Street

Officer on patrol noticed a vehicle with no headlights. Upon pulling the car over it was learned the driver had a suspended license. The driver will be summoned to court for operating after suspension, and failure to display headlights.

Attempted Burglary

· Occurred between 4PM (7/16) and 7:15AM (7/17)- 93 Winchester Street

Suspects attempted to enter a business by removing several screens that attach to the outdoor windows. It appears as though the windows were not breached and the suspects were unable to enter the premises.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred between 11AM and 2:30PM (7/10)- 80 Francis Street

Person called because he found several names written in fresh cement. Apparently some children had written their names in the sidewalk in front of his residence while the cement was still drying.

July 16th Police Reports

ARREST

Occurred at 7:33PM (7/16)- 100 Harvard Street

Cheryl Jackson was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), giving a false name to police, possession of a class B substance (cocaine), and receiving stolen property.

Police responded to a call from a cab driver who claimed to be the victim on an assault. The driver explained he had picked up a woman later identified as Cheryl Jackson, and she did not have enough money for the fare. When attempting to get the woman to exit the vehicle the driver reported Jackson got out of the vehicle reached in her bag took out a large kitchen knife, and began walking towards him. He backed up away from Jackson and proceeded to be chased around the cab by Jackson. Jackson then attempted to break the fare meter located inside the cab. When police arrived they noticed Jackson who was still visibly acting in a belligerent manner yelling at the victim. Officers noticed a large knife in the bag she was carrying and she seemed to be heavily intoxicated. She became uncooperative with the officers, and was unable to provide her name.. Jackson was arrested and brought to the station. While being booked Jackson gave false names to the police and an inventory search yielded a glass pipe which tested positive for cocaine. A further investigation led officers to the supermarket where Jackson was originally picked up by the victim. When police spoke with employees at the store it was learned Jackson had stolen several items, which she had in her possession at the time of arrest.

Aggravated Assault

Occurred at 3:54PM (7/16)- 68 Harvard Street

Victim reported that one his tenants became belligerent with him the afternoon of the 15th. The woman later identified as Julie Katz, tried to enter the victims office, when asked to leave she pushed the door slamming it into the victim. The suspect repeatedly attempted to gain entry to the office through physical force. The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises as a result of this. The suspect will be summoned to court for assault with a dangerous weapon (door).

Burglary

Occurred between 11PM (7/15) and 7:30AM (7/16)- 41 Hammond Pond Parkway

Police responded to the scene where victim reported that sometime overnight someone had broken into her house and stole several of her belongings. The suspect gained entry to the house through a basement window which was forced open. The suspect stole the victim’s purse which contained around $1300 in cash, as well as several credit cards. The purse itself was valued at $300.

Malicious Damage

Occurred between 11PM (7/13) and 9:36AM (7/16)- 1240 Boylston Street

The victim’s car which had been left unattended since Friday was vandalized sometime over the weekend. The rear window along with both right windows and the windshield were all either cracked or broken. The cost of the damage is unknown.

Occurred between 5PM (6/28) and 7:17PM (7/16)- 27 Chestnut Street

When returning home from vacation the victim discovered that her hot tub cover had been torn open. The lock to the hot tub was also broken. The tub cover was valued at $400.

Occurred at 7:10PM (7/16)- 162 Goddard Avenue

Victim noticed about a dozen youths near the functional hall which she manages. The youths fled when she approached and upon further investigation the victim noticed one of the classroom doors had been opened and malicious damage had been done to the inside.


Larceny

Occurred at 3:54PM (7/16)- 90 Longwood Avenue

Victim reported that he lent his acquaintance his wallet and when it was returned his credit card and state ID. were missing. In addition several fraudulent charges were attributed to his account.

Occurred between 6PM and 7PM (7/16)- 1364 Beacon Street

Victim reported that she left her purse at Seven Subs, and returned an hour later to find it missing.

Occurred between 9:45PM and 11:30PM (7/16)- 364 Harvard Street

Victim reported her car had been broken into and several items had been stolen. Officers noticed a large rock had been used to smash the vehicles window and gain entry. A GPS navigation device valued at $500, and a thermometer valued at $30 were stolen from the vehicle.

July 15th Police Reports

Larceny

Occurred between 9PM (7/14) and 9AM (7/15)- 2 Gardner Road

Victim reported sometime over the night his GPS device was stolen from his unlocked vehicle. The GPS device was valued at $800.

Occurred between 12:20PM (7/14) and 12:20PM (7/15)- 112 Gardner Road

Victim reported that sometime over the night someone had rummaged through her unlocked automobile. The contents of the glove box were scattered throughout the vehicle, although no items appeared missing.

Occurred between 10:30PM (7/14) and 8AM (7/15)- 117 Gardner Road

Victim reported that someone had entered his unlocked vehicle over the night. The suspect rummaged through the vehicle eventually making off with a pocket knife and a pair of sunglasses.

Occurred at 12:45PM (7/15)- 19 Englewood Avenue

Victim reported that his passenger’s window to his vehicle was left down, and that someone had stolen his cell phone from the passenger’s seat. The phone was valued at $200.

Malicious Damage

Occurred at 2:36PM (7/15) – 283 Harvard Street

Police responded to the Verizon store where workers reported a belligerent man they just had an encounter with. The suspect entered the Verizon store and became confrontational when the services he wanted could not be provided. The man repeatedly threatened the workers and also smashed a telephone when one of the employees attempted to call police. It appears that during the engagement the man had told the workers his address. Police then went to the address and found a man matching the description of the suspect. He explained that he was the man in the store, and was informed he would be summoned to court for intimidating a witness, malicious destruction of property, threats to commit a crime and trespassing.

July 14th Police Reports

Malicious Damage

Occurred between 1AM and 8:50AM (7/14)- 20 Lagrange Street

Police responded to the scene where the victim’s car had a smashed driver’s side window. The damage occurred sometime over the night.

Protective Custody

Occurred at 2:12AM (7/14)- 8 Juniper Street

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival police noticed the suspect walking around with no shoes on, heavily intoxicated. The suspect could not tell police a proper current address, and due to his extreme belligerence was placed in protective custody.

July 13th Police Reports

ARREST

Occurred at 12:58PM (7/13)- 306 Harvard Street

Anthony Franklin was arrested and charged with attempted larceny.

Police responded to the Gap clothing store where employees had a shoplifting suspect in custody. The workers noticed Franklin put a shirt under his own shirt, and confronted him. They brought him to the manager’s office where police were called.

Assault

Occurred at 11:32PM- 33 Egmont Street

Victim came into the Police Department to report a recent assault. Victim said she had been arguing on the telephone with an acquaintance that she had a long history of disagreements with. The suspect then came to the victim’s house and which time she allegedly took two swings at the victim with one of the swings hitting the victim in the face. This case is still under investigation.

Larceny

Occurred between 2:44PM and 2:59PM- 211 Washington Street

Owner noticed two men enter his establishment and quickly exit moments later. Owner then noticed that a ladies watch valued at around $20 was missing from the window display. The suspects are described as 45-50 years old and both males. One of the males had short curly hair and was wearing a baseball cap.

Malicious Damage

Occurred between 5PM (7/12) and 7:17AM (7/13)- 815 Newton Street

Victim reported that sometime over the night several of his construction vehicles were spray painted. The value of this damage is unknown.

Police Officer Exam

New Information For Police Officer Exam Applicants who would have been Age 21 before the May 19thTest Date

On April 18, 2007, Governor Patrick approved Chapter 33 of the Acts of 2007, “An Act Relative to Civil Service Examinations for Appointment as Police Officers.” which states that: “No person shall be eligible to take an examination for original appointment to the position of police officer … if he will not have reached his 21st birthday on or before the date of examination.”

Before this law was passed, applicants had to have reached their 21st birthday as of April 23, 2007, the last filing date. The new legislation allows individuals who turn 21 on April 24, 2007 through May 19, 2007, to file for the examination. If this legislation affects you, you may now apply on-line or request a paper application.

Please review the examination announcement poster 9395 . Applications must be filed or post marked no later than July 25, 2007; the application processing fee is $75.00.

If you apply, you will be scheduled to take the makeup examination on September 29, 2007. Your exam results will be processed so that you will appear on the new police officer list at the same time as those candidates who take the exam on May 19th.

July 12th Police Reports

Motor Vehicle Theft

· Occurred between 11:30PM (7/11) and 9:50AM (7/12)- 70 Hallwood Road

Police responded to a call of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime overnight his vehicle, a 2004 Ford Explorer was stolen from his driveway


Larceny

· Occurred between 8:30AM and 5PM (7/10)- 345 Harvard Street


Police responded to Devotion School to a report of a past larceny. The victim reported that he is a camp counselor at the school and sometime during the day his I-pod was stolen from the counselor’s cabinet.


Mischief

· Occurred between 4PM (7/10) and 6:30AM (7/11)- 815 Newton Street

Victim reported that several fire extinguishers were stolen from the construction site and emptied. All of the empty fire extinguisher canisters were recovered.

July 11th Police Reports

Larceny


· Occurred between 8AM and 3:30PM (7/11)-157 Cypress Street

Victim reported he left his bike unlocked in his back yard for about 7 hours. When he returned the bike was missing. Bike was valued at around $100.

· Occurred between 2:30PM and 6PM (7/11) - 397 Harvard Street

Victim reported that her package was left in the locked lobby of her building for several hours. She stated when she returned the box was ripped open and its contents missing. The value of the items was around $100.

· Occurred at 7:29PM (7/11)- 900 Commonwealth Avenue

Officers responded to CVS where a manager reported an alleged shop lifter. The manager witnessed a man placing items from the shelf into a plastic bag. When he confronted the man to return the items, the suspect placed some of the items back, while several of the items still remained in his bag. He then quickly exited the store. (Suspect described as a light skinned black male 30-35 with short hair last seen wearing a white t shirt with blue jeans).

· Occurred between 8PM (7/11) and 1:35AM (7/12)- 615 Chestnut Hill Avenue

Officers responded to a report of a past larceny from a motor vehicle. Suspect reported the vehicle was parked in his driveway overnight when he returned the passenger window was smashed and the glove box was left open. A few items were discovered missing from the vehicle including, a cell phone, battery charger, pair of sunglasses and an accessory plug, the value of these items is unknown.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred between 5PM and 5:45PM (7/11)-186 Tappan Street

Suspect broke into a motor vehicle by smashing the passenger window. Suspect appeared to have moved several items around the contents of the vehicle, but the victim reported nothing appeared missing.

July 10th Police Reports

Theft

· Occurred between 8PM (7/09) and 9:43AM (7/10)- 1200 Beacon Street

Officers responded to a call of a stolen license plate. Police spoke with the victim who claimed she last saw her plates in tact on Monday July 9th. She noticed the front plate missing the next morning.


Larceny

· Occurred at 12:45PM (7/09) –Washington Street/Beacon Street

Police responded to a report of a larceny. They spoke to a victim who claimed she was in Tai Chi class for about an hour. After the class the victim noticed her fanny pack missing. The fanny pack had been in the back of the room where Tai Chi was taking place. Among the items stolen were several credit cards, $350, several ID cards, and a cell phone. Victim was advised to cancel all her credit cards immediately.

July 9th Police Reports

Assault

· Occurred between 1PM and 1:57PM (7/09)- 155 Harvard Street

Victim reported that while shopping for groceries at Stop and Shop she noticed a strange man following her around the store. The man allegedly brushed her dress and was at times extremely close to her. When she asked what the man was doing he said, “Sorry” and walked away. However, the victim then noticed the man following other women in the store, taking camera phone pictures up their dresses. She noticed the man again while on the street and called police immediately. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, 5’8-5’9 and roughly 200lbs. He is described as having a stocky build and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a oversized white t-shirt.

Unduly Licensed

· Occurred between 2:03PM and 2:30Pm (7/09)- 319 Harvard Street

While on patrol officers witnessed a vehicle fail to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. After pulling the car over police learned the driver had an expired license. The driver will be summoned to court for, Failure to Yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, as well as Operating after an Expired License.

July 8th Police Reports

Arrests

· Occurred at 12:13AM (7/08)- Beacon Street/Winthrop Road

Termayne Brown was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

While on patrol Officers noticed two males roughhousing near the intersection of Beacon and Winthrop. One of the men Termayne Brown was heavily intoxicated. During questioning Brown became elusive and belligerent, several times disobeying officer’s orders and trying to walk away. At several points Brown even became combative with officers. Brown was subsequently arrested.

· Occurred at 1:58AM (7/08)- Longwood Avenue/ Harvard Street

Jean Garcon was arrested and charged with Operating after Suspension, and a Right on Red traffic violation. Officers observed a motor vehicle going through a red light. After stopping the vehicle it was learned that the driver later learned to be Jean Garcon had a suspended license. Jean Garcon was arrested and transported the Brookline Police Station.



Malicious Damage

The victim reported she went on vacation on June 29th and when she returned July 7th she noticed damage to her property. Someone had apparently dumped three separate piles of rock and dirt on her yard damaging her flowers.

July 7th Police Reports

Arrest

· Occurred at 11:18PM (7/07)- 1196 Commonwealth Avenue

Gregory Howell was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. While on patrol police noticed five suspects riding bicycles at a high rate of speed, members of the group fit the description of suspects involved in recent robberies taking place in the area. When police tried to speak to one of the suspects he fled on bicycle as did the other 4 members of the group. One suspect, Howell darted dangerously through traffic at high rates of speed while attempting to evade officers. When police eventually caught up to the male, a safety frisk produced a large folding knife.

Revoked Registration

· Occurred at 12:37AM (7/07)- Washington Street/Brookline Avenue

While on patrol officers noticed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. After pulling the vehicle over it was learned that the driver’s registration had been revoked. Driver will be summoned to court for Driving after Revocation.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred at 2:00AM (7/07)- 452 Chestnut Hill Avenue

Police responded to a call of malicious damage. While speaking to the victim police learned that the man’s flower bed next to his house had been damaged. Eight to ten flowers were pulled out of the ground.

· Occurred between 9PM (7/06) and 9:00AM (7/07)- 634 Chestnut Hill Avenue

Victim reported that sometime over the night her vehicle had been damaged. There was a long scratch embedded in the drivers side of the vehicle, it also appeared the antenna in the back had been bent.

· Occurred between 5:30PM and 6:30PM (7/07)- 1350 Beacon Street

Police responded to the Ritz Camera Store to a report of malicious damage. The manger reported sometime after closing the store the front door was smashed.

Assault

· Occurred at 10PM (7/06)-300 South Street

Police responded to Bournewood Hospital to a report of an assault. Police spoke with an employee at the hospital who reported that a patient had assaulted another patient. The suspect allegedly approached the victim unprovoked and pushed her and then scratched her. The suspect will summoned to court for Assault and Battery.

Robbery

· Occurred between 7:55PM and 8:00PM (7/07)-Centre Street/Fuller Street

Police responded to a call of an unarmed robbery. The victim reported he was traveling home on Centre Street when approached from behind by two females and one male. The female attempted to get the victim to stop when that was unsuccessful the male suspect stopped the victim with his arm. The female suspect then pulled the victim off his bike, and then forced him to a bushy area where she searched him for his wallet. When not finding the wallet, all 3 suspects rode off with the male suspect on the victims bicycle. The suspects were described as two dark skinned females between 18-19 years old riding dark colored mountain bikes. One female was last seen wearing a blue and white stripped shirt with a shoulder length cornrow hair style. The second female suspect was described as dark skin with a frizzy pony tail. The male suspect was described as dark skin around 20 years old, wearing jeans and a short sleeve t- shirt with an afro type hair style and muscular body build.

July 6th Police Reports

Larceny

· Occurred at 9:24AM (7/06)- 1 Buckminster Road

Victim reported that on 7/05 he had parked his vehicle outside his apartment building, and when he returned the next morning he found several items missing. Among the items missing were a lap-top computer valued at $800, and a digital camera valued at $600. No forced entry to the vehicle was discovered.

· Occurred between 4:40PM and 4:55PM (7/06)- 24 Harvard Street

Victim reported he left his bike unattended behind Pomodoro Restaurant for about 15 minutes. When he returned his bike was missing.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred at 1:33PM (7/06) -599 Brookline Avenue

While on patrol Officers noticed a vehicle with a smashed window. They contacted the driver of the vehicle who reported nothing was stolen but the glove box appeared ransacked.

July 5th Police Reports

Arrest

Occurred at 8:52AM (7/05)- Harvard Street/Thorndike Street

Eric Swartz was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after suspension, and a number plate violation. Police noticed a vehicle without a front license plate. After pulling the vehicle over Officers learned the driver’s license to operate was suspended. Eric Swartz was subsequently arrested.

Bomb Threat

Occurred between 1:27PM (7/05) and 3:20 (7/05)- 1 Harvard Street

Officers responded to a call from a receptionist at Northeast Security. Victim reported that at approximately 1:04PM he received a call the caller said, “There’s a {explicit} bomb in the building get the {explicit} people out now”. Police evacuated the building, and did a security sweep concentrating on any suspicious packages, none were found. Police are looking into who made the false claim.

July 4th Police Report

Arrest

Occurred at 12:07AM (7/05)- 19 Eliot Cres.

Denis Slivka was arrested and charged with Operating while Under the Influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, driving on the sidewalk, and driving with an open container of alcohol. Officers responded to 59 Eliot Street. Upon arrival officers noticed a vehicle crashed into the porch of the residence. The vehicle had apparently jumped the curb and knocked down a tree, before crashing into the porch. Upon speaking with witnesses police learned that Slivka had crashed into a fire hydrant then continued to drive down the road while being chased on foot by a resident. The car then crashed into the front of the residence at 59 Eliot Circle. In the car police found an empty Jack Daniels bottle, a ¾ full bottle of vodka, and an empty wine bottle and an empty beer bottle. Subject was arrested and transported to Beth Israel Hospital.

Burglary

· Occurred between 11PM (7/03) and 2:24AM (7/04)- 234 Harvard Street

Officers responded to Kashmir Food & Spices in response to an audible alarm. Officers noticed a large hole in the wall leading to 232 Harvard Street, as well as a store shelf knocked over. It appears the suspect broke into the neighboring cleaners at 232 Harvard then broke through the wall into Kashmir Food & Spices. No items were reported missing at this time.

· Occurred between 7PM (7/03) and 2:27AM (7/04)- 232 Harvard Street

Officers responding to an alarm at 234 Harvard Street discovered a hole leading to Harvard Cleaners at 232 Harvard Street. Upon investigation it was discovered a door to the cleaners was forced open. Officers found multiple items missing as well as a file cabinet which had been pryed open. Among the items stolen are a water bottle, a crow bar, a hammer, a Red Sox baseball cap, and two boxes of perishable food.

Larceny

· Occurred between 10PM (7/03) and 8:08AM (7/04)- 1067 Beacon Street

Officers responded to a call of a larceny. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who said that over night a Dwarf Boxwood (small bush) had been stolen from her property. The bush was valued at $75.

· Occurred between 4PM (7/01) and 4PM (7/02)-50 Goddard Avenue

Victim reported on 7/04 that sometime between Sunday and Monday an unknown suspect broke into a storage room located in the building (Polmanakos Dormitory) and stole his suitcase. The police notified the proper authorities at Hellenic College. The suitcase was valued at $500.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred between 1:30AM and 8:59AM (7/04)- 30 New Terrace Road

Victim reported that sometime over the night someone had smashed the side front and passenger windows in her automobile which was locked. In addition to the broken windows officers discovered the left rear tire punctured. The value of this damage is unknown.

July 3rd Police Report

Arrests

· Occurred at 3:18AM (7/03)- 0 Perkins Street

David Balerna was arrested and charged with, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm while under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, marked lanes violation, possession of a class D substance (Marijuana), and possession of a class E substance (Vicodin). Officers observed a car driving erratically, not keeping in the marked lanes of the roadway. Officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle and upon a safety frisk discovered a loaded .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun in Balerna's waistband. The man was placed under arrest. Police searched the vehicle, and found two unmarked bottles of prescription drugs, two folding knives, one butcher knife, as well as a bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.


· Occurred at 1:44PM (7/03)- 125 Lee St

Steven Lander was arrested and charged with Operating after Suspension. Officers noticed a vehicle traveling at high rate of speed. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer noticed the driver had a suspended driving license. Lander was additionally charged with speeding, and a seatbelt violation.

Larceny

· Occurred between 7AM (7/02) and 5:36AM (7/03)- 230 Heath Street

Officers were dispatched to a report of breaking and entering of a residence. The victim reported that sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning a suspect had gained entry into his house by breaking the backdoor window. The suspect’s wallet containing $400 was taken from the home.

· Occurred between 5PM (7/02) and 6PM (7/03)- 37 Lapland Road

Officer responded to a call of breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who said she left her car unlocked in her driveway for about an hour. Upon returning she discovered about $6 in change missing from the vehicle.

· Occurred between 3PM (7/02) and 1PM (7/03)- 790 Heath Street

Victim reported that on 7/02 he parked his car in his driveway and left it unlocked. When he returned to his vehicle the next day he noticed a bag of change in the amount of $150 missing from his car.

· Occurred between 1AM (7/03) and 8AM (7/03)- 48 Summit Avenue

Victim reported that someone had stolen two clay pots and a large cactus from the outside of his residence. The value of these items is unknown.

· Occurred at 7:07p.m. (7/2)-Washington Street/Corey Road

. Robert Desautels was arrested and charged with possession of a class D substance (Marijuana) with intent to distribute. In addition to the drugs officers found a large amount of cash, a glass pipe, several lighters, as well as a box cutter.

Operating Violation

· Occurred at 2:11a.m. (7/2)- Boylston Street/ Brington Road

Officers traveling in their squad car observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. Officers pulled the car over and informed the driver he would be summoned to court for having an expired Registration and Operating After Suspension.

· Occurred at 5:37p.m. (7/02)- 1408 Beacon Street

While on patrol officers observed a vehicle that appeared to have an expired registration. When pulling the driver over for that violation police learned he has an expired license. The subject will summoned to court for Operating After Suspension and Operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Larceny

· Occurred at 10:30p.m (7/01) to 8:14a.m. (7/02)- 111 Holland Road

Victim reports that he parked his rented car in the driveway of 111 Holland Road at 10:30p.m upon return to the vehicle the next morning he discovered the passenger side window smashed and a GPS navigation device missing from the dashboard. The GPS device was valued at $300. No other items were taken from the vehicle.

· Occurred at 9:10p.m. (6/26)- 10 Brookline Place West

On July 2nd Police responded to the New England Art Institute on a report of larceny. Police met with the security director for the school, who explained that on June 26th a male came into the building and when asked to sign in he wrote illegibly. Cameras capture the man checking doors to residences in the building. When he found a door unlocked the suspect entered the residence then proceeded to steal a lap-top computer. The computer was valued at $200. This case is still under investigation.

· Occurred between 8a.m. and 12:06p.m. and from (1/29)-(7/02)- 750 Commonwealth Avenue

Police responded to the Guitar Center store on July 2nd for a report of a larceny. The manager explained that on 7/02 he discovered one of the guitars valued at $3750 missing from the store. He explained he last saw the guitar on 1/29 while doing inventory.

· Occurred at 7a.m (7/02)-230 Heath Street

Officers responded to a dwelling where the owner said a man had broken into his house and stolen goods. The man said the house was broken into sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. Entry was made by breaking a back door window. The suspect stole $400 from the homeowner’s wallet which was left on the kitchen table.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred between 8:15a.m. and 4:50p.m. (7/02) -233 Tappan Street

Caller informed officers that he and his wife had left their residence at around 8:15a.m when they returned at 4:50p.m, they discovered damage to their home. The front storm door was broken.

Larceny

· Occurred at 3p.m. (6/29)- 204 Chestnut Street

A woman reported that her child’s bike, a blue and white Mongoose; had been stolen from 204 Chestnut Street at around 3pm on June 28th. The bike was valued at $200.

· Occurred at 1:50p.m.(6/29)- 400 Washington Street

A victim came into the station to report a stolen green Trek Antelope 800 bicycle. The victim stated he left his bike unlocked at 400 Washington Street and unattended for several hours. Upon his return his bicycle was gone. The bike was valued at around $100.

· Occurred at 10:50p.m. (6/29)- 419 Washington Street

A victim reported a stolen 18 speed red and gray Mongoose bicycle. The victim said he locked the bike at around 8pm. Upon his return at 10:50pm the bike was missing. The bike was valued at $250.

· Occurred at 10:40a.m. (6/29)- 117 Clinton Road

Officers responded to 117 Clinton Road at approximately 10:40am to a call of a breaking and entering, and larceny of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival the victim reported to police she had found her car unlocked and her purse missing the morning of June 29th. The purse contained $90; no forced entry of the vehicle was discovered.

June 30th, 2007

Arrests

· Occurred at 1:54p.m. (6/30)- 1129 Beacon Street

Upon arrival officers spoke with two witnesses who reported seeing two males leaning over a scooter. One of the witnesses went to investigate and found the scooter running and the front starter panel ripped off, lying on the ground next to the scooter. At this point witnesses called police. The witnesses were able to give police a through description of the suspects seen by the scooter. At this point officers several blocks away on Longwood Ave. radioed in after reporting seeing a male on a bicycle fitting the description given by the witnesses. The juvenile was found in possession of a small screwdriver. He was placed under arrest. The juvenile is charged with possession of burglarious tools, larceny of a motor vehicle, and malicious destruction of a motor vehicle.

· Occurred at 1:17am (6/30)- Sears Road/Lee Street

Irfan M. Usman (Male, age 21) was arrested when officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Lee St. near the rotary at Warren St. Upon arrival Officers saw a green 2006 Dodge Caravan with heavy front end damage disabled on the road, and a concrete light pole knocked over lying in the street. Usman was charged with operating while under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, and a marked lanes violation.

Malicious Destruction of Property

· Occurred at 10:14am (6/30)- 71 School Street

Officers responded to a report of a car with a smashed window. The owner of the vehicle reported that the car was left in the rear parking lot of 71 School Street on June 29th at approximately 9pm. The owner returned to the vehicle the next morning (June 30th) and noticed the front passenger window smashed. Upon investigation a rock was discovered in the front seat of the automobile. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.

Malicious Damage

· Occurred at 7p.m (6/30)- Hawes Street/Colchester Street

Officers responded to the intersection of Hawes Street and Colchester Street for a report of an attempted larceny of a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated he had parked his car on Hawes Street and Colchester, at around 7pm. Upon return he noticed his window smashed.

Arrests

  • Occurred at 11:02 p.m. (7/1/07)- Longwood Avenue (C#3754)

A twenty-five year old female was arrested for Domestic Assault and Battery.

  • Occurred at 12:15p.m. (7/1)-92 Harvard Street (C#3737)

Sharon Surprise (female age 37) allegedly entered the home of a neighbor demanding money for medication. Upon being rejected the funds Surprise apparently punched the man in the head, and then again demanded cash. Surprise was arrested at her home without incident.

Larceny

-Occurred at 9a.m. (7/01) -1030 Commonwealth Avenue

Upon arrival Officers noticed the front door of the establishment (Kayuga Japanese Cuisine) completely smashed and partially open. The store owner stated that around $600, and a Dell lap-top computer had been stolen from the cash register. Upon further investigation the officers noticed the phone lines behind the building outside in the ally had been severed. This tactic prevented the alarm company from being immediately notified of the break in.

-Occurred at 5p.m. (7/01)- 5 Caitlin Road

The owner of the vehicle reported he had gone away on vacation on June 24th, and had just returned. Upon arrival the owner found his car’s drivers side window smashed. The owner noticed his Garmin c550 GPS device valued at $800 missing from the dashboard

Robbery

-Occurred at 11:17pm (7/1/07) -179 Babcock Street

The victim reported that she was leaving a friends house when she heard several people running from behind her. When she reached the corner of Babcock and Dwight Street, a male ran from her right side grabbed her by the shoulders. As the male held the victim, 3 females proceeded to rifle through her pockets, grabbing her purse. Among the items stolen were a leather handbag, cell phone, an iPOD shuffle, a Sony digital camera, and a ladies wallet containing several credit cards. The victim was advised to immediately cancel the credit card services. The victim was able to give police an accurate description of the suspects. The group was described as consisting of three female’s who all had dark skin tone, and were all early to mid 20’s, one of the females was wearing a blue shirt.

-Occurred at 11:31p.m (7/01) - Harvard Street and Naples Road

Officers responded to a report of a robbery which took place on Harvard St near Commonwealth Avenue. The two victims who were visibly shaken were interviewed by police. They reported they were walking along Harvard Street with hooked arms listening to an iPOD, when suddenly they were split apart by a female who demanded everything the two had. The female was accompanied by 3 males and 1 other female. The females were described as 18-24 years old one of the females is about 5’6” and was last seen wearing a white shirt and black headband. The other female was described as being 5’8” with dark skin tone also wearing a white shirt with a black headband. One of the males involved was described as 18-24 years of age with a medium build and was last seen wearing a white shirt. The other two suspects were described as dark skin tone and both were wearing white shirts.

Motor Vehicle Theft

-Occurred at 7p.m. (7/01)-1 Larz Anderson park

Dispatch received a call of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner reported he parked the car on Goddard Avenue by the lower lot of Larz Anderson park. The owner entered the park at around 3pm and last saw his car around 6:50pm. When he arrived 20 minutes later the owner discovered his car missing. The owner reported all his doors were locked and the keys were in his possession. The owner could not give an estimated amount for the cars value.

Threats

-Occurred at 1:25p.m. (7/01)- 1530 Beacon Street

Officers met with a woman who claimed the two involved used to be roommates but were not getting along. The victim had moved out of the apartment two weeks ago and was staying with a friend. The victim returned to 1530 Beacon Street at approximately 12:30pm July 1st, to secure some of her property. Upon arrival the roommate became angry with the victim allegedly raising her hand in a striking manner as well as throwing a magazine in her direction. The argument then turned verbal in which the victim alleges the roommate said she would “kill you”, with the threat targeting the victim. After that statement there was no further discussion between the two and the victim promptly exited the apartment and reported the incident to the Brookline Police Department. The police spoke with the roommate who said she did not want any problems with police and the roommate could come back to claim her property at anytime without incident.
