Wednesday, March 20th

8:21AM: A man called police to Linden Street because he found graffiti on the sidewalk outside of Saint Mary’s Church. The graffiti appeared to be from a stencil and said “stop abuse.” Police took photos. The graffiti was located in front of the main entrance so it was cleaned before service began. Police are investigating.

3:23PM: Police were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for shoplifting. The loss prevention officer told police he noticed someone concealing items in the back of his wheel chair. A search of the chair found multiple stolen items. The suspect was arrested and booked for shoplifting.

3:55PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for shoplifting. The manager told police he noticed a man acting suspiciously. Upon closer noticed, the manager saw the man taking items from his shopping cart and placing them into his backpack. When the manager confronted the suspect, he left the shopping cart but took off with the backpack. The man is described as a black male wearing all black clothes with a black backpack. He was last seen on foot traveling towards Coolidge Corner School on Harvard Street. The suspect was not located.

Tuesday, March 19th

3:40PM: Police were dispatched to Mason Terrace for larceny from a mailbox. The reporting party stated he was expecting two rent checks, but when he went to the mailbox he could not locate them. He checked with his tenants, who confirmed they both delivered the checks earlier in the week. Police are investigating.

Monday, March 18th

8:38PM: Police were dispatched to Harvard Street for a past shoplifting. Officers met with the businesses’ loss prevention employee. He stated that at approximately 8:30pm he noticed a woman attempt to leave the store with two full bags of clothes she did not pay for. The employee confronted the woman, so she dropped the bags and fled the store in the direction of Coolidge Corner. The items were recovered. Police are investigating.

Sunday, March 17th

11:37AM: A woman found property in Skyline Park. The reporting party stated that while she was walking along the path she noticed something shiny and glimmering on the ground. She picked up a large diamond like gem. She gave it to police and it has been placed in an evidence locker for safe keeping.

12:52PM: A man came to the Police Station to report lost property. The reporting party stated that he left his black Swiss backpack at Pine Manor College gym on Sunday, March 10^th. The man coaches basketball and at 6pm he left the gym, accidentally leaving his backpack with his Mac Book Pro and several personal papers there. When he returned at 9pm, the bag could not be located. Police are investigating.

3:09PM: Officers were dispatched to an apartment building on Fuller Street for package theft reports. Two separate packages were delivered to this address but the victim never received them. The first one was delivered on March 8^th, but when the reporting party arrived home at 8pm, she could not locate it. The second package was delivered on March 16^th. When the party arrived home on the morning of March 17^th, the package was missing. The vestibule in the apartment building is unlocked.

Saturday, March 16th

11:27AM: Police were dispatched to Bellingham Road for a possible theft of a license plate. The reporting party told police that this morning he noticed his front license plate to be missing. Officers inspected the car and noticed small scratches which appear consistent with a minor motor vehicle accident. It is possible the license plate was torn from the vehicle as a result of the accident. The reporting party was unaware of any accident and could not determine the last time he saw the license plate. Police are investigating.

Friday, March 15th

7:03AM: Police were dispatched to an apartment building on Center Street for an assault and battery. The victim told police he was sitting in his chair in the hallway when a man, in a derogatory manner, asked him to move his feet. When the victim did not move his legs the suspect punched him in the face. Because of the intimidating nature of the crime, the suspect will be summoned to court for Assault and Battery.

4:21PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon and Winthrop for a report of an assault with a knife. A man told police he was walking down Beacon Street when he passed a woman and noticed she was holding a knife. They exchanged words and the woman continued walking eastbound on Beacon Street. She was described as approximately 5’2” with “dirty blonde” hair, black pants, black hat, and a floral jacket. There was an additional assault that was possibly perpetrated by the same woman in a nearby coffee shop. The suspect was not located. This case is being investigated.

4:51PM: A knife was found in the bushes in front of a home on Washington Street. The knife is described as a 6.5 inch folding knife with a brown wooden-handle and the numbers “747” engraved on the handle. In regards to the above assault with a knife case, which happened approximately 30 minutes prior to this, the victim was brought in to attempt to identify the knife. The man told police the knife that was found was most likely not the knife involved in his assault. Police are investigating.

7:23PM: Police were dispatched to Greenough Street for a report of disturbance of peace. An anonymous party told police that they noticed a black male using a loud speaker to yell about racism in the town of Brookline. Upon arrival, Police did not observe anyone acting suspiciously. Officers observed a vehicle leave the area shortly after police arrived. This case is under investigation.

Thursday, March 14th

7:01AM: Officers were dispatched to a home on Rawson Road for a report of malicious damage. The reporting party stated that sometime between 9pm and 11pm the previous night someone threw eggs at their home. It appears this house was the only one targeted. This case is under investigation.

9:33AM: Police were dispatched to Women’s Health Services on Harvard Street for a disturbance. A woman believed a man, who was standing out front of the address, was videotaping her. The two exchanged words, the woman struck the man in the face then left the area. Police were able to identify the woman and summoned her to court for assault and battery.

1:44PM: Police were called to Harvard Street for an attempted shoplifting. The loss prevention employee told officers that he noticed a man concealing several items and trying to leave the store without paying. The employee confronted this man and made him wait in the loss prevention office for police to arrive. All the items were returned to the store. The suspect was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

Wednesday, March 13th

9:06AM: Officers were dispatched to Coolidge Street for a bat call. The reporting party told officers that at 1:30am she was awakened by something flying over her head. When she turned on the lights, she realized there was a bat in her room. The reporting party eventually trapped the bat in one of the bedrooms. Police arrived on scene but could not locate the bat. The Brookline Health Department has been notified of this incident.

4:37PM: Police were dispatched to Beacon Street for a past shoplifting. The manager of the business told police that she reviewed surveillance footage after she noticed a recently stocked shelf completely empty. While checking the cameras later that day, the reporting party noticed that at 2:20pm, a black male entered the store and began taking several items off the shelves and placing them into his bag. He then exited without paying. It is possible this suspect has shoplifted in this area before. Police are investigating.

Tuesday, March 12th

9:03AM: Police were dispatched to Brookline High School for a report of graffiti inside the building. A school security guard told officers about the new graffiti he found, which appears to be a tag. This case is under investigation.

Monday, March 11th

12:06PM:  Police were called to Tappan Street for found property. A woman found a single Nissan car key lying on a snowbank near her home. The key was brought to the station and secured in a property locker for safe keeping.

5:46PM: Police were dispatched to High Street for a malicious damage report. A man told police he parked his car on Saturday, March 9^th, at around 11pm in the High Street parking lot. He returned to his vehicle on March 11^th at 4pm and noticed both drivers’ side tires were flat. Upon further inspection, he noticed a slash mark in each of the tires. This case is being investigated.

11:44PM: Police were conducting a special attention assignment at the Brookline Town Hall due to recent reports of an individual trespassing on the property after hours. During a check of the building, officers found an unsecured door. Officers performed a building check and discovered a man sitting in one of the offices on the first floor. The man was placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Night Time with Intent to Commit a Misdemeanor.

Sunday, March 10th

3:30PM: Officers were dispatched to Browne Street for a past larceny. The reporting party told police that he had recently ordered a 3-pack of Nest indoor security cameras. FedEx claimed that the package was delivered at 12:18pm on Friday, March 8^th. When the reporting party arrived home at 6pm, the package could not be located. Police are investigating.

Saturday, March 9th

5:58PM: A man called police to report malicious damage to his motor vehicle. The reporting party told officers that he rents a parking spot on Harvard Avenue and has had his vehicle parked there for 2 weeks. Today he received a phone call from the property owner telling him that one of his windows was broken. When he went to check on the car he noticed that the right side window was shattered but nothing was missing from the vehicle. The reporting party is unsure of when the damage took place. This case is under investigation.

6:12PM: Police were dispatched to Stetson Street for a bat call. Upon arrival, the reporting party told officers at 6pm he and his wife came home to a bat flying around their house. They called 911 and waited outside for police to arrive. It does not appear anyone was bitten by the animal but human exposure forms have been completed. The bat was detained and sent to the lab for rabies testing.

7:58PM: Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for shoplifting. The reporting party, a loss prevention employee, told police that a man in his 30’s had just fled the store with several articles of clothing. The suspect is described as a white male, 6’2”, wearing a dark colored hoodie, gray sweatpants, and a Patriots winter hat. It appears that the man stole multiple jackets and other clothing items. Police are investigating.

Friday, March 8th

3:04PM: Officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, the loss prevention employee told police that he noticed a woman place several items in a shopping cart and only pay for a few. When confronted, the suspect admitted to taking several items without paying. Loss prevention employees detained the woman until officers arrived. The suspect was verbally advised of trespassing and will be summoned to court for shoplifting.

5:52PM: Police were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for shoplifting. A loss prevention employee told officers that ultimately the items had been recovered, but the suspect fled. The reporting party noticed a man rolling up clothing items and placing them under his arm. When the loss prevention employee confronted the man, he returned the items but fled towards Beacon Street. The suspect is a Hispanic man in his 40’s, with a mustache or goatee, wearing a black jacket (possibly with “BU” letters) and blue jeans. Multiple units canvassed the area but could not locate the subject.

10:36PM: There was a report for shoplifting on Commonwealth Avenue. A man with multiple reusable shopping bags stole several items before fleeing towards St. Mary’s Street. An employee attempted to follow and stop the suspect but eventually lost him. The reporting party told officers that he did not recognize the suspect as a shopper in the store. The subject is described as a 40 year-old white male, wearing a green and white checkered jacket. This case is under investigation.

Thursday, March 7th

4:32PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party, the store’s manager, told officers that he noticed a recently restocked shelf completely empty. When he checked the surveillance footage, he recognized an individual from a previous shoplifting incident. The surveillance footage shows the suspect putting numerous boxes of tooth paste in a shopping bag, and exiting the store without paying. The suspect stole approximately $300 worth of toothpaste. Police are investigating. 

5:16PM: Police were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for shoplifting. The reporting party, a loss prevention employee, told officers that a man had just attempted to leave the store without paying for several clothing items. When the reporting party confronted him, the suspect dropped the items and fled towards Harvard Avenue (Allston). A short time later, Brookline Officers stopped a man matching the description in a local coffee shop. He was positively identified by the loss prevention employee. He will be summoned to court for shoplifting.

Wednesday, March 6th

7:05PM: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for the report of shoplifting. The manager of the business advised Brookline dispatchers that he was in pursuit of a suspect wearing a blue jacket and carrying an orange backpack. Police noticed an individual matching this description. Officers questioned the suspect who admitted he stole a bottle of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, and the merchandise was returned to the store.

2:10PM: Police were dispatched to Coolidge Corner for a report of shoplifting. Officers were met by the store manager who showed them surveillance footage of an unknown man stealing 30 deodorants. The suspect covered his face while entering and exiting the business. The subject is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or black male with a beard, wearing a black coat with white and gray stripes, and black pants. He fled towards the Centre Street parking lot and was not located by officers. Police are investigating.

Tuesday, March 5th

10:54AM: Police were dispatched to Amory Street for a report of a dog bite. The reporting party stated that on Monday, March 5^th at approximately 2pm her dog was attacked by another dog. While sledding down a hill, a loose dog charged over and bit her dog. The reporting party took her dog to the vet where they discovered a puncture wound. The reporting party’s dog is not registered with the Town of Brookline, but is updated on their rabies vaccination. The other dog is not registered with the town nor updated on their rabies shot. Their owner was advised and given a citation for the incident.

3:23PM: Officers were dispatched to Cumberland Avenue for a past larceny. A couple has been renovating their home and recently went on vacation. When they arrived home on Sunday, March 3^rd, they saw a large amount of water in the basement and noticed a pipe leaking. They called the contractor to assess the damages and upon arrival, he noticed numerous copper pipes missing from the basement. The copper was last seen on presidents day weekend. This case is under investigation.

Monday, March 4th

9:13AM: Police were dispatched to take a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle on Crowningshield Road. The reporting party stated that on Sunday morning at around 9:30am, she found the contents of her center console strewn about the seats and noticed her plastic bag with approximately $40.00 worth of quarters to be missing from the car. The reporting party believes that this incident occurred sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday morning. The doors on her vehicle were unlocked and she has no surveillance cameras. This case is being investigated.

9:32AM: Officers were dispatched to store on Commonwealth Avenue for a report of shoplifting. The lost prevention officer told police that the suspect had just left the store with video game accessories without paying. The lost prevention officer supplied police with a description and stated he boarded a Boston University bus. A short time later Officers located a person matching the suspect’s description on said bus. A police “show up identification” was conducted.  The suspect was placed under arrest and charged him with shoplifting and possession of control substances.

Saturday, March 2nd

9:10PM: Police were dispatched to upper Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting. The reporting party, a loss prevention security officer, stated that between 8:45pm and 9pm he witnessed a female taking several items and leaving the store without paying. The reporting party attempted to stop the suspect but was unsuccessful. The suspect is described as a white female, brunette colored hair, in her late twenties, wearing a black jacket and gray sweatpants. Officers attempted to locate the subject with negative results. This case is under investigation.

Friday, March 1st

11:49AM: An anonymous person came to the Police station with found property. The reporting party told police that they found a wedding ring in a sealed window envelope outside of the Dunkin Donuts on Boylston Street. The ring has been placed into evidence for safe keeping.

Tuesday, February 26th

5:47PM: A citizen came to the Police station to report a larceny on School Street. The reporting party stated that at 8am, he locked his daughter’s electric scooter to the bike rack near the main entrance of Pierce School. When he returned at approximately 5:30pm, the scooter, lock, and helmet were missing. The item is a blue Razor e100 electric scooter. Police are investigating.
