At 9:50am, a resident walked into the station to report embezzlement by an employee at their business on Harvard Street. The embezzlement occurred over the course of the past year, and the case is under investigation.

At 10:49am, a man was arrested during a traffic stop on Brookline Ave for driving with a suspended license.

At 11:06am, a man was arrested after shoplifting from a business on Beacon Street. The man was caught fleeing from the scene and the stolen items were returned.

At 1:57pm, a cell phone was reported stolen at the Babcock Street T stop. Officers searched the Naples Road area. A report was taken by the transit police.

At 7:14pm, a man was arrested on Harvard Street for shoplifting.

At 10:47pm, a breaking and entering was reported on St. Paul Street. The caller stated that the crime had occurred earlier in the month. A report was taken.

At 5:24pm, an officer was requested to Harvard Street. A restaurant stated that two customers left without paying a large bill. A description of the suspects was given as two young women wearing dark clothing, with one wearing a red jacket. A report was taken.

At 7:20am, a man was arrested at a business on Commonwealth Ave after assaulting the clerk. The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

At 10:07am, a disturbance was reported on Beacon Street. A woman had entered a store and stated that she was on the phone with kidnappers, who had a relative of hers and demanded money. Officers determined that this was a phone scam and that the relative was unharmed. The incident is being investigated.

At 11:44am, an attempted shoplifting was reported at a store on Beacon Street. The suspect is described as a white female in a black puffy coat, who left the scene in a white sedan. The merchandise was left behind at the store. A report was taken.

At 10:31pm, an ongoing fight was reported on Kent Street. Two suspects were summonsed to court on assault charges for the incident.

At 1:36pm a caller on Russett Road reported a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. According to the caller it occurred at some point between the previous night and that morning. Several items were reported stolen. A report was taken of the incident.

This is the only reported incident like this in the area, residents are reminded to lock your doors and hide your valuable from plain sight.

1/27/2016

At 10:22am, a caller on Sumner Road called to report a suspicious man at their home, which they did not answer. Officers located the man and arrested him on several charges including attempted Breaking and Entering.

At 11:47am, a disturbance was reported on St. Paul Street. A caller reported hearing loud voices and footsteps. A wounded man was found at the scene and was transported to an area hospital. Officers are investigating.

At 11:49am, multiple callers reported a traffic incident on Harvard Street. Two wounded males were found in the street, and were sent to area hospitals. This incident is seen as being connected to the one at St. Paul Street and is being investigated as such.

1/26/2016

At 9:40am, a caller on Kenwood Street reported an attempted Breaking and Entering that had occurred the previous day. The officers responding found evidence of the attempt but determined that no entry was made. A report was taken and the matter is being investigated.

At 6:42pm, a shoplifting was reported at a business on Harvard Street. A male suspect was arrested at the scene.

At 8:47pm, a male suspect was arrested on Pond Ave on a warrant for previous charges.

At 11:26am, a resident on Chestnut Street called to report suspicious activity after their home alarm system was triggered. The alarm company had notified the resident, and neighbors reported spotting footprints along the side of the house. Officers confirmed that a break-in had occurred. A report was taken and the matter is under investigation.

At 2:47pm, a caller on Eliot Street reported a breaking and entering at their home. The break in occurred at some point earlier that morning. A report was taken and the case is being investigated.

At 9:02pm, Brookline Police officers assisted the Newton Police in transporting multiple shoplifting suspects to their department after they were detained on Boylston Street in Newton.

At 12:55pm, a caller reported that their vehicle was damaged while parked in a garage on Harvard Street. The vehicle was found to have pry marks on it from some time in the past three weeks. A report was taken.

At 10:03am, a newly installed stop sign was reported stolen from intersection of High Street and Allerton Street. A report was taken.

At 2:56pm, a resident reported the theft of their cell phone. The phone was taken about 20 minutes before the call. A report was taken.

At 10:56am, officers were called to a business on Beacon Street for a reported customer disturbance. A man was yelling in the lobby and throwing papers. Officers spoke to the man and sent him on his way.

At 9:12am, a shoplifting was reported at a business on Harvard Street. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man of medium build, wearing a gray hoodie and jeans. A report was taken and the case is being looked into.

At 12:06pm, a resident reported that paperwork was stolen from their backpack while at a business on Harvard Street. The theft occurred while the victim was at work on Monday. A report was filed.

At 6:26am, a caller reported the theft of cosmetics on Commonwealth Ave. The caller stated that they had a video of the potential suspect, who is described as a middle-age white male with glasses, jeans, a blue jacket, and a blue hat. A report was taken.

At 7:11pm, a small group of teenagers was reported egging cars in the area of Washington Street and Gardner Road. The group was gone when the officers arrived.

At 12:53pm, a caller on Winchester Street reported that their phone was taken at a local business. The theft had occurred an hour prior, and the victim had since returned home. A report was taken.

At 4:16pm, a vehicle’s license plate was reported stolen on Hawkes Street. A report was taken.

At 7:36pm, officers responded to a shoplifting at a business on Beacon Street. A male suspect was taken into custody.

At 8:49pm, a resident on Winthrop Road called to report suspicious activity. A male claiming to be from a local news station had rung her doorbell. Unsure of what he wanted, the resident called the station, which stated that it had no reporters in the area. Officers searched the area, but could not find him.

At 9:45am, officers responded to an Assault and Battery on Harvard Street. The officers resolved the issue, and the victim stated that they did not want to press charges.

At 2:27pm, a caller reported their cell phone stolen from a business on Beacon Street. The victim’s friend gave a description of a suspicious male possibly attempting to take the phone earlier. The possible suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, about 5’6”, with dark hair and wearing a black shirt and black pants. A report was taken.

At 11:17am, a Breaking and Entering was reported on Tappan Street. Two bikes were taken from the property. A report was taken.

At 6:22pm, an attempted larceny was reported at a residence on Eliot Street. Two packages were opened but left behind. All contents were still there. A report was taken.

At 11:58pm, officers spotted a shoplifting in progress occurring at a business on Harvard Street. A male suspect was arrested at the scene.

At 3:54pm, a caller reported a woman’s wallet as stolen from a business on Beacon Street. A third party caller contacted officers about it, and a report was taken.

At 9:55am, officers were called about offensive graffiti written on a light pole at the corner of Dudley Street and Warren Street. A report was taken.

At 11:32am, a break in of a motor vehicle was reported on Beacon Street. A description of the suspect was noted.

At 12:14pm, a resident walked into the station to report an identity theft. A report was taken.

At 6:25pm, a theft was reported on Euston Street. Several packages were reported as taken earlier in the afternoon. A report was taken.

At 6:58pm a man suspected of trespassing was brought to the station. After speaking with the property owners, he was cleared and sent on his way.
