Police Reports 2/1-2/2

Shoplifting: Occurred on 2/1 at 2:17 PM- Harvard St.

An officer observed a subject exit a Harvard St. Stop & Shop walking quickly and looking over his shoulder as if to see if he was being followed. The subject was carrying a Stop & Shop basket that is supposed to be left inside the store once a standard retail transaction has occurred. Based on these observations, officers stopped the subject to investigate the suspicious activity. The basket contained merchandise from the Stop & Shop, and the subject could not produce a receipt for the items. A store employee verified the items to be stolen, and confirmed that the subject had been in the store. The subject was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

Traffic Offenses: Occurred on 2/1 at 4:35 PM- Washington St.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on Washington St. A query of the operator’s information revealed that the registration was revoked. The driver was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Operating an Uninsured MV, Operating an Unregistered MV, and Operating after Revoked Registration. The driver will be summonsed to Brookline District Court for the same charges. The vehicle was towed and both Massachusetts license plates were seized and placed into evidence.

Traffic Offenses: Occurred on 1/31 at 8:00 PM- Beacon St.

A blue pick up truck was traveling on Beacon St. that was displaying an expired registration sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Beacon St. A query of the operator revealed his license to be expired. The driver was issued a citation and will be summonsed to court for Unlicensed Operation and Failure to display Registration Sticker

Traffic Offenses: Occurred on 2/1 at 8:35 AM- Boylston St./ Warren St.

A white Mercedes took an illegal turn from Boylston St. to Warren St. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A query of the operator’s information revealed that the vehicle’s registration was revoked. The operator was issued a citation and will be summonsed to court for Operating with a Revoked Registration. The vehicle was towed and the license plates were seized.

Police Reports 1/31-2/1

Shoplifting: Occurred on 1/31at 9:51 PM- Beacon St./Harvard St.

Officers responded to a report of a possible shoplifter at the intersection of Beacon St. and Harvard. Officers spoke with two Trader Joe’s employees who stated that they observed a man place multiple items into a personal bag and walk out of the rear of the store without paying. The employees stated that they yelled to the man to stop, and followed him to a parking lot where they confronted him. The suspect could not produce a receipt for the items that were in his bag. The suspect was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/31 at 9:15 PM- Hammond St.

An officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hammond St. and Laurel Rd. A query of the driver revealed that he had an expired license. The operator was placed under arrest and issued a citation for Operating After Expiration. The operator’s license was seized and his vehicle was towed.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/31 between 8:15 AM and 5:30 PM- Alton Pl.

Officer responded to an Alton Pl. residence to take a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny. When the resident returned home, she noticed obvious pry mark damage to the front door, consistent with damage from another Breaking and Entering on Alton Pl. The victim reported several items missing from bedrooms.

Burglary Attempt: Occurred on 1/31 between 1:30 and 5:00 PM- Alton Pl.

Officer responded to an Alton Pl. residence to take a report of a Breaking and Entering attempt. The victim stated that upon returning home he noticed that the front door was broken, with pry marks on the door frame. The damage was consistent with another house break on Alton Pl. Nothing was reported missing from any of the apartments.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/31 between 1:40 and 3:00 PM- Summit Ave.

Officers responded to a Summit Ave residence for a burglary report. The officers spoke with the victim’s dog walker, who stated that he had left the house, and when he returned the dead bolt was locked. The victim did not have a key for the dead bolt. The victim led officers into the house through a back door, and noticed that several items were missing from the dining room and his bedroom. The suspect appeared to have locked the dead bolt to the front door and exited out the rear door.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/31 at 5:50 PM- Thornton Rd.

Officers responded to Thornton Rd for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that there was a man sitting in a gold car acting suspicious. The officer approached the driver, who stated that he was a pizza delivery driver who had just made a delivery. A query of the man’s information revealed that his license was suspended and he had a default warrant out of Quincy district court. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension and the default warrant.

Police Reports 1/30-1/31

Arrest: Occurred on 1/31 at 12:55 AM- Harvard St.

A blue Volvo sedan was travelling on Harvard St. without an inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the operator revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license. The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Operating after Suspension, Failure to submit vehicle for Inspection and Failure to secure child in Car seat.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/30 at 9:56 PM- Washington St./ Station St.

Officers observed a vehicle operating with no inspection sticker displayed on the front windshield. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Washington St. and Station St. A query of the operator indicated that he had a warrant out of Brookline District Court. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest.

Larceny: Occurred on 1/26- Aspinwall Ave.

An Aspinwall Ave. resident reported a past larceny. The victim stated that on Thursday January, 26, a package that had been delivered to her residence was stolen from her front porch. The victim stated that she had ordered an iPhone and it was delivered by FedEx, but when she arrived home the package was not on her porch.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/30 at 5:50 PM- Boylston St.

A vehicle traveling on Boylston St. made an illegal U-turn, crossing over Cypress St. and continued on Boylston St. in the other direction. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. A query of the registration revealed that it had been revoked. The driver was issued a citation for Revoked Insurance, Unregistered MV, Revoked Registration, and U-Turn Violation. The operator will be summonsed to court. Her vehicle was towed and the registration plates were seized.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/30 between 10:00 AM and 3:20 PM- Newton St.

Officers responded to a Newton St. residence for a report of a Breaking and Entering. The victim stated that she left her house at 10:00 AM and returned at 3:20 PM. The victim noticed that the glass on her side door was smashed and that the front door was open. Several rooms in the house had been ransacked. Items were reported stolen from two bedrooms.

Assault: Occurred on 1/30- Druce St.

An officer responded to Druce St. for a report of a past assault and battery. The victim works for a construction company, and he told police that he had been assaulted by a subcontractor on a construction site. The victim explained that the suspect was performing tests that involved driving a steel rod into soil. The victim told police that he had asked the suspect why he had performed the test incorrectly. The suspect responded by striking the victim in the head with the steel rod, knocking the hard hat off his head.
Two witnesses corroborated the victim’s account.

Based on the statements made by the victim and the witnesses, the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police Reports 1/27-1/30

OUID: Occurred on 1/27 at 4:19 PM- Washington St.

Officers were dispatched to a Washington St. establishment regarding a report of a man passed out in the front seat of a motor vehicle. Officers observed an unresponsive male in a parked, running vehicle in front of the establishment. After several attempts to awake the man, the subject exited the vehicle, appearing to be disoriented and unsteady on his feet. The subject slurred his words and appeared to have vomit on his shirt. Officers observed a ripped plastic bag in the ashtray consistent with the packaging of drugs.

Based on the observations of the subject, officers believed the subject to be under the influence of some type of drug. A search of the vehicle revealed a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine. Based on the facts and observations, the subject was placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Class B Substance, Possession of Class E Substance, and No Inspection Sticker. After an inventory search of the vehicle, the subject was additionally charged with two counts of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Ammunition.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/27 at 10:22 PM- Harvard Ave.

Officer was dispatched to a Harvard Ave. residence for a report of a B&E. The victim returned to the apartment at 10:00 PM and noticed that the rear window was left open and the dead bolt was unlocked. A laptop computer and several pieces of jewelry were taken from the apartment. The entry point is believed to be an unlocked basement window.

OUIL: Occurred on 1/28 at 1:25 AM- Boylston St.

Officer observed a dark colored sedan traveling on Boylston St. at a high rate of speed. The officer also noticed the registration sticker to be expired. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. at the intersection of High St. Upon reaching the operator’s window, the officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The operator slurred his words, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. When the subject exited the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet and disoriented.

Based on the officer’s observations, it was determined that the subject was operating under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest. The operator was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor- Second Offense. He was notified that his license would be suspended.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/28- Fuller St.

Officers were dispatched to a Fuller St residence for a B+E report. The victims stated that he believed that someone had broken into their apartment between 12:30 am on January 26 and 7:30 pm on January 27. Several electronics were reported stolen and the bedrooms appeared to be rummaged through. The point of entry is believed to be a balcony door.

Robbery: Occurred on 1/29 at 2:45 AM- Harvard St./ Columbia St.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Harvard St and Columbia St for an armed robbery by means of a handgun that had occurred approximately twenty minutes earlier. The victim stated that he exited a cab at Harvard St and Kenwood St. and started to walk towards his apartment on Columbia St. He stated that he was approached from behind by a man who pointed a gun at him and asked the victim for his wallet and cell phone. The victim handed the subject his cell phone and wallet and then returned home to call the police. The victim gave an updated description of a black or Hispanic male in his mid 20s, approximately 5'10-5'11, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, with a goatee, and slicked back shoulder length hair. He stated that the suspect had a black metallic handgun.

Malicious Damage of Town Property: Occurred on 1/29 at 2:35 AM- Beacon St/ Strathmore Rd.

Officer responded to a radio call for a reported dispute in the area of Beacon St. While traveling down Strathmore Rd., a person ran up to the cruiser and told the officer that there were two subjects breaking a sign towards the end of Strathmore Rd and Beacon St. On the corner of Beacon St. and Strathmore Rd., the officer saw a large group of people who appeared to be watching something. The officer observed two individuals pushing and pulling at a Town of Brookline traffic sign pole that was affixed to the ground. As the officer pulled up behind these two individuals, the sign they were pushing back and forth broke and fell into the roadway. Several witness told police that they observed the same two individuals pulling on the street pole that had fallen to the ground.

Based on the facts and observations, these suspects were placed into custody for Malicious Damage. In addition they were both charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Police Reports 1/26-1/27

Arrest: Occurred on 1/27 at 1:44 AM- Beacon St.

A blue van that was traveling on Harvard St made an illegal left turn onto Beacon St. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Beacon St. A query of the driver revealed that his license had previously been suspended. The operator was placed under arrest and was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Operating after Suspension and Left Turn Violation.

B&E of Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/26 at 9:30 PM- Monmouth St.

There was a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny from a Motor Vehicle on Monmouth St. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle on Monmouth St at approximately 7:30 PM and returned at approximately 9:30 PM. When he returned, his driver side front window was smashed and his GPS and wallet were missing.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/26 at 6:11 PM- Centre St.

There was a report of a residential Breaking and Entering and Larceny on Centre St. The victim stated that she had left her house at approximately 9:15 AM and returned at 5:10 PM, when she discovered that her apartment had been broken into. The victim noticed that all the contents of her jewelry box had been removed. The point of entry is believed to be the front door. Items were taken from a bedroom and the dining room.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/26 at 5:00 PM- Marion St.

A white-colored SUV failed to stop for the stop sign located at the intersection of Marion St. and Park St. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Marion St. A query of the operator revealed that he had an expired license. The driver was cited and summonsed to Brookline District Court for Operating with an Expired License and Failure to Stop.

Police Reports 1/25-1/26

OUIL: Occurred on 1/25 at 6:54 PM- Washington St.

At approximately 6:54, Brookline Police Dispatch broadcast that a black Nissan Rogue had just struck a parked vehicle on Washington St, and had left the scene. The reporting person had informed dispatch that the suspect vehicle had Florida plate, and he observed the vehicle turn from Washington St down Bartlett St. This information was relayed to responding police units. Officer was travelling on Washington St when he observed a black Nissan Rogue baring FL plates. At a traffic signal, the driver turned on the vehicle’s emergency flashing hazard lights and exited the vehicle. He stated that he might have run out of gas. The officer could smell a strong odor of intoxicating liquor on his person, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and his speech was slurred

The vehicle had what appeared to be a significant amount of fresh damage along the right side of the vehicle. Due to officer’s observations of the operator, he was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor.

The arrestee’s right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts has been suspended. The arrestee has been issued Massachusetts Uniform Citations for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Not Duly Licensed, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Class A Substance.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/25 at 9:45 PM- Corey Rd.

Officer observed two males walking through a private parking lot towards Corey Rd. As the officer passed the subjects, one male began to turn his head frantically and observe the cruiser, then say something to the other male. The two subjects were trespassing through a private lot and their behavior seemed suspicious. The officer pulled next to the subjects and exited the cruiser, identifying himself as a police officer.

Officers asked the subjects to remove their hands from their pockets while talking to the police. The officer later observed the subject with his left hand inside his pocket again, at which time the officer conducted a pat frisk. The officer located a pack of cigarettes that rattled when he removed it from the subject’s pocket. Inside the officer discovered multiple types of prescription pills. One of the pills had the part of the outer time release coating removed and was cut in half, believed to be consistent with cutting pills in order to ingest them by snorting them. The subject also had on his person razor blades which are often possessed for the purpose of cutting up prescription pills or other narcotics. Based on the above facts the subject was placed under arrest for Possession of Class B drug and Possession of Class E drug. The other subject was sent on his way.

ID Wanted Regarding 1/18 Robbery

Identification Wanted- C#2012-0333 (1/18/12)

C#2012-0333 Overview – On 1/18/12, at approximately 23:10 hrs., the above pictured suspect entered the Courtyard Marriott in Brookline (40 Webster St.), showed a black & silver firearm and attempted to rob the front counter. Suspect was not succesful in getting money. Suspect described as a dark skinned BM, 6’1-6’3”, broad build, wearing black knit hat, brown jacket w/dark colored hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans, black gloves, black & white sneakers, and dark colored scarf covering face. The suspect is believed to have arrived in the pictured vehicle (a black Jeep Grand Cherokee) approximately 10 minutes prior and parked a short distance away.

ID Wanted Regarding 1/20 Robbery

Identification Wanted C#2012-0368 (1/20/12)

C#2012-0368 Overview – On 1/20/12, at approximately 16:48 hrs., the below pictured suspect robbed the Gulf Gas station in Brookline (25 Washington St.), with the use of a large black firearm. Suspect is described as a WM, 40-50 yoa, 5’7-5’8”, medium build, wearing a black hooded jacket, baseball cap w/grey brim, light blue jeans, grey sneakers, black gloves, and blue mask covering face. Suspect committed robbery while additional customers were within the store. Suspect was very casual during the robbery and walked away from the scene on Brookline Ave. towards -Kenmore Square.

Police Reports 1/24-1/25

Robbery: Occurred on 1/24 at 9:32 PM- Beaconsfield Rd.

Officers responded to the area of Beaconsfield Rd. at Tappan St. for a report of a robbery that occurred by the Beaconsfield MBTA stop. The victim stated that she had gotten off the MBTA at the Beaconsfield stop and walked to the right on Beaconsfield Rd. She was pushed from behind up against a wall by an unknown suspect, who held her face against the concrete wall. The suspect repeatedly demanded the victim’s money and phone, and the victim handed him her whole bag. She then stated that the suspect fled back down the alley way towards either Beaconsfield Rd. or Tappan St. The victim was able provide the following description: Hispanic male, 16-18 yoa, 5'5", small, spoke with a Hispanic accent, wearing dark grey sweatshirt, dark pants, and believed him to be wearing sneakers.

Several units searched the immediate area for the suspect and any discarded property with negative results. At Brookline Police headquarters, the victim attempted to track the location of her cell phone using an "App" called "Mobileme" that was installed on her iPhone. This "App" allows the user to track the location of their cell phone in real-time if the phone is powered on. At approximately 11:00 PM the victim informed officers that the "Mobileme app" was now showing the phone to be powered on and located at the Brookline Village MBTA stop on Station St. Nobody matching the suspect description was seen in the area. Detectives were able to locate items believed to belong to the victim in a trash receptacle

The victim contacted detectives again and provided continual updates of the phone's location while the above detectives traveled to the Dorchester area of Boston. The victim reported that the cell phone was traveling on Dorchester Ave. towards Howes St. With this information, coupled with no vehicular traffic traveling at that time in the direction given, the suspect was believed to be traveling on foot. Detectives observed a teenaged male who fit the victim’s description walking at the exact location at the exact time the victim provided the information of that being the route of travel of her cell phone. This male was appeared to be using a cell phone and was the sole person in the area. Detectives approached the subject, and upon viewing the cell phone, it was immediately clear that this was the phone of the victim. The phone matched the description and had the victim’s name displayed on it. A search of the subject’s backpack revealed property that had been taken from the victim.

Based on the circumstances, the subject was placed under arrest for Unarmed Robbery. The property recovered from the arrestee’s person and from the trash receptacle was returned to the victim.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/24 at 2:44 PM- VFW Parkway

Officers responded to a VFW Parkway residence for a burglary report. The victim reported that she left her home at approximately 11:45 AM and returned at 2:30 PM. She noticed that the side door was open and she discovered her Apple was missing from her first floor office area. The victim told detectives that her son identified a family friend as the most likely person who would have entered the home.

Officers then went to the suspect’s home. At this point, based on information that officers had received from the victim’s son, the suspect was placed under arrest for B&E daytime and Larceny of the laptop. The laptop was recovered and returned to the victim.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/25 at 6:47 AM- Harvard St.

Officer observed a gray Volkswagen Jetta travelling on Harvard St. with a failed inspection sticker. The vehicle was also travelling in two lanes as it passed the intersection of Harvard St. and Stedman St. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the driver revealed that he did not have a right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts. The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle, Failure to Submit Motor Vehicle for Inspection and Marked Lanes Violation.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/23 at 11:45 PM- Harvard St.

Officer observed a gray Mazda sedan travelling on Harvard St. that was occupying two lanes. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the operator revealed that she had a Suspended Massachusetts Drivers License. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and Marked Lanes Violation.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/23 at 7:58 PM- Washburn Tr.

Officer was dispatched to a Washburn Tr. residence to take a Breaking and Entering and Larceny report. The victims stated that they left the house at 7:50 AM and returned home at 6:45 PM. The victims observed various pieces of jewelry on the bedroom floor. In the bedroom, items on the dresser and jewelry boxes were rummaged through. The victim reported that jewelry had been taken from the bedroom. The victims noticed the rear sliding door in the kitchen was not fully closed. A check on the front and rear doors revealed no signs of force entry.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/23 at 11:45 PM- Harvard St.

Officer observed a vehicle operating on Harvard Street with what appeared to be an expired inspection sticker. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard Street. The officer confirmed that the vehicle's state-issued inspection sticker had expired in October 2011, and Brookline Police Dispatch confirmed that the status of the registration was currently revoked, and the vehicle uninsured. The operator was issued Mass. Uniform Citation for failure to inspect MV, operating an unregistered MV, and operating an uninsured MV. A complaint application has been filed with Brookline District Court for the above offenses. The vehicle was towed and the plates were seized for evidence.

Police Reports 1/20-1/23

OUIL: Occurred on 1/22 at 2:40 AM- Harvard St.

Officers observed a green Honda Civic traveling on Harvard St. without the use of headlights. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Harvard St. Upon talking to the driver of the vehicle, the officer could detect a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle along with a strong odor of women's perfume and the odor of breath mints.

As the operator exited the vehicle, the officer noticed her to be very unsteady on her feet and observed her eyes to be blood shot and glassy. The driver agreed to participate in several field sobriety tests. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Operating a Motor Vehicle without headlights. The operator’s license was suspended.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/21 at 1:37 AM- Beacon St.

Officer was traveling on Beacon St. when he observed a white Ford Explorer driving with a head light out. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Beacon St. The operator could not produce any valid identification. A query of the driver revealed that he had a suspended license status. The driver was placed under arrest and issued a citation for Operating a MV with a suspended license, as well as Defective equipment.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/22 at 12:30 AM- Harvard St.

Officer observed a gray Saturn Aura traveling on Beacon St. with a license plate that was not illuminated by a light. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the operator revealed that she had a suspended Massachusetts license, and that the registration was revoked. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension. The subject was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Defective Equipment, Operating with a Suspended license, Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/20- Bonad Rd.

Officer responded to a call from a Bonad Road residence reporting that their house was broken into. Upon arrival, the resident explained that this was the second day in a row that his house was broken into. He told the officer that the previous day, the culprit entered through an unlocked rear basement door and stole a computer from the basement.

The victim explained that when they got home this evening, they determined that their home had been broken into again. Numerous footprints were observed in the snow in the backyard leading to a rear basement door, believed to be the point of entry. The victim stated that the culprit pulled out several boxes from cabinets in their basement laundry area as well as several small cardboard boxes from a small table in a basement bedroom. The culprit then went to the first floor area where he stole a cell phone from the top of a dining room table. The culprit then went up to the second floor where he went in the master bedroom which he ransacked.

Armed Robbery: Occurred on 1/20 at 4:57 PM- Washington St.

Units were dispatched to a Gulf gas station on Washington St. for an Armed Robbery that had just occurred. An employee reported that a male wearing a mask and black jacket had just robbed the gas station armed with a gun. The employee said that the white male fled down Brookline Avenue towards the Riverway.

Officers were able to review the video surveillance and gave out the following updated description; white male wearing a black jacket with hood, baseball cap with gray brim, jeans, black gloves, blue mask, gray sneakers and armed with a large black gun. Brookline Units canvassed the area but the suspect was not located.

The employee managing the register stated that the male stood at the counter and brandished a large black hand gun, demanding the money from the register. The employee emptied the register and the suspect fled the store.

Police Reports 1/19-1/20

Arrest: Occurred on 1/20 at 6:30 AM- Harvard St.

Officer was traveling on Harvard Street when he observed a vehicle with snow covering the rear windshield, impairing the operator's visibility. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the driver revealed that his right to operate was currently revoked. The operator was placed under arrest, and issued Mass. Uniform Citation for operating after revocation and impeded operation.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/19 at 4:45 PM- Boylston St.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. A query of the operator revealed that his right to operate in MA had been revoked. A query of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the registration had also been revoked. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after revocation. The passenger, the owner of the vehicle, will be summonsed to court for revoked registration and also knowingly allowing an unlicensed operator to operate a motor vehicle.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/19 at 11:10 AM- West Roxbury Parkway

Officer observed a green van traveling at a high rate of speed on Newton Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop on West Roxbury Parkway. A registry query revealed that she does not have a Massachusetts license. The driver was placed under arrest and for speeding, operating without a license and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/19 at 10:15 AM- Beacon St.

Officer observed a red Chevrolet SUV with no visible inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Beacon St. The operator produced an expired license. BPD dispatch confirmed the status of both the vehicle and the operator. The operator was placed under arrest for unlicensed operation. He was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for failure to have MV inspected and Not duly licensed.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/19 at 6:40 PM- Colchester St.

Officer responded to the area of Colchester Street and Hawes Street to take a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim’s front passenger-side window had been smashed. A GPS unit and a laptop computer were taken from the vehicle.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/18 at 10:45 PM- Armory St.

Officer responded to Amory St for report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that his vehicle was broken into while he was out of town. The rear left passenger window had been smashed and a satchel had been removed from the back seat.

Larceny: Occurred on 1/18 at 7:47 PM- Beacon St.

At approximately 7:47 PM, dispatch gave out a call where an individual took a backpack from a vehicle while in traffic. The victim stated that he was travelling on Washington St. en route to pick up his daughter. He stated that he had stopped for a red light and heard honking coming from another vehicle. The victim proceeded onto Beacon St. as well as the vehicle that was behind him. The victim stated that the traffic was rather heavy and he stopped in the left travel lane due to another red light. The car that had been honking behind the victim pulled into the right travel lane next to the victim and began to yell at him. The operator of the other vehicle then got out of his car, opened the victim’s passenger side front door, and grabbed his daughter's backpack which was lying on the floor and removed it from his car. The individual got back in his vehicle and proceeded on Beacon St. The victim followed the suspect’s car and was able to take down his license number.

The registration came back to a white Chevrolet Trailblazer. Officers went to the residence listed on the registration in an attempt to locate the offender. The individual admitted that he was involved in the incident on Beacon St. He admitted to getting out of his car, opening up the victim’s car door and pulling out the backpack that was lying on the floor. Based on the circumstances, the individual was placed under arrest for Larceny from a Person.

Attempted Armed Robbery at Webster St. Marriot Hotel

Attempted Armed Robbery: Occurred on 1/18 at 11:12 PM- Webster St., Marriot Hotel

On January 18th, 2012 at 11:12 PM Brookline dispatch gave out a call of an armed robbery that had just taken place at The Marriot Hotel on Webster St. Units responded to the area and a description was given out of a black male wearing a black hat, a dark scarf and a tan work jacket who displayed a firearm and attempted to obtain money from the staff at the front counter of the hotel.

Several units responded to the area and conducted a search for the suspect but were unable to locate him. Detectives began a follow up investigation with the witnesses to the robbery.

An employee was working the front counter when she observed a man she described as being a dark skinned black male, wearing a black knit cap, a black scarf over his face, and black or dark grey gloves wearing a tan "work jacket" come into the lobby and approach the counter. The male placed an object on the front counter which the employee recognized to be a silver and black firearm. The male asked her to open the cash drawers, which revealed no money. The suspect then quickly exited the hotel after being unsuccessful in his robbery attempt. The suspect fled the hotel out the front door onto Webster St and made a right turn and headed toward Harvard St. A hotel guest who witnessed the incident from the lobby called 911 to report the robbery.

Based on interviews of hotel employees and hotel guests who witnessed the incident, the suspect that attempted to rob the Marriot was described as:

Dark Skinned Black male, 6'1"- 6'3", broad shoulders, wearing a black knit hat, a dark scarf, dark gloves, a tan work jacket and work boots. The suspect brandished a black and silver semi-automatic handgun and fled out the front door toward Webster St and went right toward Harvard St.

Police Reports 1/17-1/18

Arrest: Occurred on 1/18 at 1:48 AM- Washington St.

Officer observed a white Lexus fail to stop for a red signal. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Washington St. A query of the driver revealed that his right to operate a motor vehicle was suspended. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and a subsequent search of his person revealed a knife that was determined to be a “per se” dangerous weapon. The search also revealed a small amount of marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle after suspension and carrying a “per se” dangerous weapon.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/18 at 12:30 AM- Harvard St.

Officer observed a red Nissan sedan travelling on Harvard St. The officer observed the vehicle travelling in between two marked lanes on the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvard St. A query of the driver revealed that his license was suspended. The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and Marked Lanes Violation.

MV Accident/Pedestrian: Occurred on 1/17 at 5:38 PM- Harvard St. and Longwood Ave.

Officer responded to the intersection of Harvard Street and Longwood Ave. for a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian. The operator stated that she did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk and that she was not going that fast during the accident. The driver stated that she was turning left from Harvard Street onto Longwood Ave when she struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to the Brigham and Women's Hospital for pain in her right foot. The victim stated that she was walking in the crosswalk during the time of the accident, and she was in the middle of the street when the vehicle struck her. She was knocked to the ground and felt the tire run over her foot. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police Reports 1/13-1/17

Arrest: Occurred on 1/16 at 1:50 AM- Boylston St.

Officer was traveling on Boylston St when he observed a Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. A query of the driver revealed that his right to operate in the state of Massachusetts had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest. The operator was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Operating After Suspension and Speeding.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/13 at 7:35 PM- Essex St.

Officer was traveling on Commonwealth Ave. when he saw a vehicle cut across several lanes of traffic with no turn signal. The officer had to stop suddenly to avoid a collision. The officer initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that he had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and was issued MA uniform citation.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/14 at 12:48 AM- Boylston St.

Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Boylston St when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Boylston St. The officer conducted a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that her license to operate was currently under suspension. The driver was issued Massachusetts Uniform Citation and she was advised she would be summoned into Brookline District Court for the traffic offenses.

Motor Vehicle Accident, Hit and Run: Occurred on 1/15 at 5:59 AM- Harvard St.

Officer was travelling on Harvard Street when he observed an unoccupied red Jeep Cherokee parked on Harvard Street. At this time the vehicle had no obvious significant damage. Several minutes later, the officer passed the vehicle again, but now observed the vehicle to have extensive damage to the rear end and under carriage. The officer observed a large field of vehicle debris immediately behind and around the vehicle, including a headlight assembly with red paint transfer which matched the headlight assembly of a Ford Crown Victoria. This information was relayed to the numerous Brookline Police units who began canvassing the area around the accident scene, looking for a white Ford with heavy front end damage.

With this information, another officer observed a white Ford Crown Victoria stopped, but running in the middle of the roadway several blocks from the Coolidge Corner intersection. There was heavy front end damage to his vehicle, the front air bag had deployed, and it was missing pieces of the front grille and headlight assemblies. As a result of the investigation, the driver was cited for Leaving the Scene of Property Damage MVA, Operating a MV Contrary to a 1-way Sign, and Failing to drive completely within marked lanes.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/16 at 12:50 Am- Boylston St.

Officer was performing stationary radar on Boylston St. when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Boylston St. A query of the driver revealed that her license had been suspended. The driver was informed that she would be summoned to the Brookline District Court for Operating After Suspension and Speeding, and she was issued a citation for those offenses.

Breaking and Entering: Occurred on 1/16 at 4:00 PM- Cutler Ln.

Officer was dispatched to a Cutler Ln. residence for suspicious activity. A resident had called and stated that someone walked into his house and acted like it was hers. The resident told police that he heard the front door open, and a woman calling out. The woman stated that this was her house. The resident stated that he was the owner and he asked her to leave, which she did. The woman then got into a dark blue car and drove away.

At 8:38 PM, the resident’s son heard the doorbell ring and he saw the same woman from earlier standing outside the door. The resident then called 911 for police assistance. The woman was placed under arrest for B&E -Putting a person in fear. She will also be charged with Resisting arrest.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/17 at 8:35 AM- Boylston St.

Officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that had an expired inspection sticker. A query on the vehicle revealed that vehicles' Inspection sticker had in fact expired in July 2011. It also revealed that the RMV had suspended the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts. The operator was issued a citation for Operating after Suspension and having an Expired Inspection Sticker. He was placed under arrest

M/V Crash, Two arrest, Injury to child

On Jan 13th at 10:13Pm officers were dispatched to South Street and Newton Street for reports of an M/V crash. A single car crash, the car had struck a utility pole. When officers arrived they found a male party sitting outside the car holding a young child. Witness on scene informed officers that another subject, the driver was seen walking away from the crash scene. That subject was located by officers at the Stores of Putterham. (The intersection of Grove and West Roxbury Parkway approx 3 tenths of a mile away.)
Based upon the information the officers had the Driver was arrested and charged with OUIL , Leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with injury and Operating without a license. Also as a result of the preliminary investigation an ICE detainer has been requested by this Department.
The passenger has been arrested and charged with Allowing through wanton or reckless conduct substantial bodily injury to a child and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The passenger is the owner of the vehicle.
The child passenger was taken from the scene to the Children’s Hospital, where they underwent surgery. The child has been listed as critical but in stable condition.
Traffic investigators have taken over the investigation which is still ongoing, part of which has led to the request for a search warrant for the vehicle.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/13 at 6:14 AM- Longwood Ave.

Officer observed a white BMW travelling on Harvard St. that was not operating safely in a marked lane. The operator then failed to signal when switching lanes. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Longwood Ave. A query of the operator revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, Marked Lanes Violation and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/13 at 12:17 AM- Boylston St.

Officer was monitoring traffic on Boylston St. when she observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that her diver's license was suspended. The driver was issued a citation for speeding and operating after suspension and she will be summonsed to court for those offenses.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/12 at 10:10 PM- Washington St.

Officer was traveling on Washington St when he observed a red SUV. A query of the vehicle indicated that the registered owner had an active warrant. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Washington St. The driver was confirmed to be the person associated with the active warrant and was placed in handcuffs. The officer could detect a strong odor of fresh marijuana emanating from his clothing and the arrestee told the officer that there was marijuana inside his jacket pocket. The officer located a large bag of what was believed to be marijuana.

Officers could detect a strong odor of fresh marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A passenger consented to a search of her backpack which revealed what was believed to be more than one ounce of marijuana. The passenger was then placed under arrest.

The driver stated to police that he buys marijuana from the passenger. The driver was issued a By-Law citation for Possession of Marijuana Less than One Ounce, and criminally charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law, Possession of Class E-drug and his warrant from West Roxbury District Court. The passenger was charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law, Drug Free School Zone Violation of Controlled Substance Act and Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute.

Shoplifting: Occurred on 1/12 at 4:36 PM- Harvard St.

Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at CVS on Harvard St. Employees identified the 3 individuals who were involved in shoplifting in their store. A CVS employee told police that she observed one suspect bend down to take something from the bottom of a shelf, open up her bag and then quickly walk behind a second individual for concealment. The suspect consented to a search of her bag which revealed an item from CVS. She could not produce a receipt for the item and an inventory check confirmed that the item was missing.

Based on these facts she was placed under arrest for shoplifting. Also in her possession were two pairs of earrings that were confirmed stolen from a Mint Julep store on Beacon St. in Brookline. She will be charged with 2 counts of shoplifting. The other two individuals were also placed under arrested for shoplifting- joint venture.

Police Reports 1/11-1/12

Attempted Robbery: Occurred on 1/11 at 10:30 PM- Beacon St.

Officers responded to the Washington Square Trolley Station on a report of two women fighting. Upon arrival officers located a male witness and a female party, who described another woman that had been involved who fled towards an alley across the street. The officer located the woman and asked her where she was coming from. She was unsteady on her feet and her answers did not make sense.

Officer then spoke with the victim, who stated that she had taken the trolley to the Washington Square stop. After departing the trolley, the victim felt someone pulling at her pocketbook, which she identified as the other woman. The victim began to yell for help and the two women struggled over the pocketbook. The two women ended up on the ground, with the offender on top of the victim, choking her. The victim was finally able to get the attacker off of her, at which time the offender walked away. The offender was placed under arrest and charged with one count of Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob or Steal.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 7:30 and 10:30 PM- Toxteth St.

Victim reports that sometime between 7:30 and 10:30 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle and removed his GPS unit.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 8:00 and 9:30 PM- Kent St.

Victim reports that sometime between 8:00 and 9:30 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and removed her GPS unit and a hand bag.

B&E Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/11 between 8:30 and 9:15 PM- Stearns Rd.

Victim reports that some time between 8:30 and 9:15 PM someone smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle and removed a GPS unit.

Motor Vehicle Pursuit: Occurred on 1/12 at 1:01 AM- Beacon St.

Officer was on patrol on Beacon Street when he observed a vehicle operating without headlights. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver produced the registration, but stated that he did not have a license. The driver then suddenly shifted the vehicle into drive and rapidly accelerated on Beacon Street.

The officer returned to the cruiser and pursued the vehicle on Beacon Street. The officer observed the vehicle turn onto Strathmore Road and lost sight of it upon reaching the fork. At this point the officer terminated the pursuit. A query of the suspect revealed that his driver’s license is revoked. The suspect was issued citation for Failure to Stop for Police, Operating to Endanger and Operating Without Headlights at a Time of Darkness.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/11 at 2:47 AM- Harvard St.

Officer traveling on Harvard St. noticed a Toyota Camry not staying within the solid marked lanes. At several points the vehicle swerved from the right to left, crossing over the white line that separates the lane from the shoulder. Several times the vehicle traveled over marked parking spaces. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the driver indicated that his right to operate a vehicle had expired. The driver was then placed under arrest. He was issued a citation for Marked Lanes Violation and Not Duly Licensed.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/11 at 12:04 AM- Beacon St.

Officer observed a Toyota Corolla traveling on Beacon St. driving over the painted lines separating the lanes in the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop for failure to operate safely within a marked lane. A query of the driver revealed that the vehicle had a suspended registration and that the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest. During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers found a small bag containing marijuana. The driver was issued a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration, Marked Lanes Violation and Possession of Marijuana.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/10 at 10:30 AM- Cypress St.

Officer was conducting traffic enforcement when he observed a sedan turn from Boylston St. onto Cypress St. without signaling. The officer initiated a traffic stop. A check with the Registry of Motor Vehicles revealed that her license was suspended. She was then placed under arrest. The driver was issued a citation for operating after suspension, failure to use turn signal, and no license in possession.

Suspects in B&E Arrested by State Police

A Toyota Corolla taken from a Kent Sq. residence during a breaking and entering on 1/9 was recovered after a traffic stop by the Massachusetts State Police in Arlington. A state trooper made a traffic stop of the vehicle in Arlington, and the two occupants of the car were arrested. Several others items taken from the Kent Sq. residence were found inside the vehicle.

Police Reports 1/9-1/10

Burglary: Occurred on 1/10 at 2:00 AM- Kent Sq.

Officer was dispatched to a Kent Square residence to take a report of a Breaking and Entering. The victim explained that she had arrived home in the early morning of 1/10 after being away from her home for several days. She noticed that some of her possessions had been moved around and that dresser drawers had been opened. Several items were reported missing from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and office areas. It is believed that the perpetrator/s entered through a window.

Burglary: Occurred on 1/9 between 4:30 and 5:00 AM- Kent Sq.

Officer was dispatched to a Kent Sq. residence for a Breaking and Entering report. The victims heard footsteps on the stairs and in the hallway between 4:30 and 5:00 AM., but they believed it to be another member of their family. It was also noted that the door to the back hall stairs was open. When the residents of the home awoke to go to work, they realized that one of the cars that had been parked in the driveway was missing. Throughout the house, several items had been moved about and several items were reported missing, including the automobile. It is believed that the perpetrator/s entered through the basement door.

Motor Vehicle Accident: Occurred on 1/9 at 4:23 PM- Harvard St.

A vehicle was turning left into TJ Max parking lot when a cyclist was traveling on Harvard Street. The vehicle struck the cyclist with its front bumper. The cyclist was knocked over and transported to Beth Israel Hospital for a foot injury. The operator will be cited for failure to yield.

Police Reports 1/6-1/9

O.U.I.L: Occurred on 1/8 at 2:25 AM- Beacon St.

Officer was observing traffic in the Coolidge Corner area when she observed a white Lincoln Towncar merge into the right “Straight Only Lane” and then make an abrupt left turn from the right lane. The officer then observed this vehicle swerve several times to both sides of the travel lane. This vehicle came to a stop at a red light while in the right lane with the left turn signal activated. As the light turned green the operator quickly turned right onto Beacon Street which is where the officer initiated a traffic stop.

While the officer was speaking with the driver, she could detect a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from the inside of the vehicle, and the operator had slurred speech, and glassy red eyes. The driver agreed to partake in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver was impaired due to alcohol intoxication. She was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor. Her license was seized and destroyed and she was notified that her license would be suspended.

O.U.I.L: Occurred on 1/8 at 4:05 AM- Cypress St.

Officer was parked in the driveway of the Pierce School when she observed a hatchback style vehicle drive past her at a very high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Cypress St. While talking to the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. The driver agreed to take part in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired due to alcohol and he was placed under arrest. The driver was issued a citation for Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and Speeding.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/6 at 10:15 PM- Boylston St.

Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Boylston St. when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the outside lane. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that his license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension and speeding.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/7 at 1:08 AM- Washington St.

Officer was monitoring traffic on Franklin St at the intersection of Cypress St. The officer observed a grey colored SUV travelling on Cypress St. come to a complete stop without illuminating a directional or hazard warning lights. The vehicle was stopped for a short time and then continued on Cypress St. The officer then initiated a traffic stop for impeding flow of traffic. A query of the operator revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle after suspension.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/9 at 2:00 AM- Boylston St.

Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Boylston St in Brookline. The officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Boylston St. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. A query of the operator revealed that the driver did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle. The driver was placed into custody for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Traffic Stop: Occurred on 1/8 at 5:29 PM- Boylston St.

Officer was traveling on Harvard St. when he noticed a black Nissan Frontier with a 2011 sticker showing. A query indicated the vehicle's registration status was expired and also indicated that the registered owner had an expired license. The officer then initiated a traffic stop on Boylston St. Upon talking to the operator, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer observed in plain view a pipe in the center console with burnt residue inside. The driver then voluntarily turned over a case which contained a substance believed to be marijuana and more drug paraphernalia. The driver was informed that he was going to be summonsed to court for Operating with an Expired License and Operating with an Expired Registration. He was also issued Town By-Law Citation for Possession of Less than One Ounce of Marijuana.

O.U.I.L.: Occurred on 1/6 at 12:53 AM- Boylston St.

Officer was conducting traffic enforcement when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Boylston St. The officer initiated a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver and noticed that she was slurring her words and that her eyes were glassy. The driver agreed to partake in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver was impaired due to alcohol intoxication and subsequently placed into custody for Operating under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and additionally charged with speeding. Her license was seized and destroyed.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/6 at 1:00 AM- Longwood Ave.

Officer observed a white Oldsmobile Intrigue sedan that did not have operational tail lights. The officer then initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Longwood Ave. and Marshall St. The driver immediately stated that he did not have a driver’s license on him. A query of the operator with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor revealed that the driver had a revoked Massachusetts Drivers License. The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Drivers License, Defective Equipment and Marked Lanes Violation.

Arrest: Occurred on 1/6 at 12:06 AM- Beacon St.

Officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker on the license plate. The officer then conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Beacon St. and Ayr St. The operator informed the officer that the vehicle belonged to his friend who was seated in the passenger seat and further advised that he only had a learner’s permit, however he did not have it with him. A query revealed that the driver did not have a learner's permit but a Massachusetts identification card only. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle without a license. The passenger was issued a citation for Allowing an Unlicensed Person operate his motor vehicle and not having the registration sticker displayed.

Police Reports 1/4-1/5

Burglary: Occurred on 1/3 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM- Davis Ave,

Victim reports that some time between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on January 3rd someone stole her son's mountain bike from the front porch of a Davis Ave. residence. Suspect gained access to the porch and removed one of many bicycles from the porch area.

Malicious Damage: Occurred on 1/4 at 3:11 PM- Gibbs St.

Officer responded to a radio call for a malicious damage report at a Gibbs St. residence. The victim stated that over the past few years he has been having incidents involving finding nails in his vehicle's tires while it has been parked inside his garage. The victim found three nails in his two rear tires.

Breaking & Entering Motor Vehicle: Occurred on 1/4 at 12:18 PM- Harvard Ave.

Officer was dispatched a Harvard Ave. residence for the report of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle. The victim stated her vehicle, a Honda Accord, was broken into. Though still intact, the driver's side window had two holes near the bottom of the window and was cracked throughout the pane of glass. It was determined that none of the victim’s belongings were missing, and the vehicle did not appear to be entered.

Police Reports 1/3/2012-1/4/2012

Larceny: Occurred on 1/3 at 8:00 PM- Kent St.

Officer was dispatched for a reported package theft. The victim stated that his laptop computer was stolen. The victim stated that he checked the status of the laptop computer that he ordered. The status indicated that it was delivered today and was signed for by an unknown party. However, the victim returned home from work and discovered the laptop was not in the lobby and he could not locate it. Based on the delivery time and the fact that someone signed for the package it is believed it was stolen at the same time.

Larceny: Occurred on 1/3 at 3:29 PM- York Terrace

Officer was dispatched to York Terrace for a larceny report. The victim explained that at 11:30AM she was in her driveway and accidentally left her purse on the trunk of her roommate’s car. She returned at approximately 1:30PM and her purse was gone. Her roommate did not move her car in the time that the victim was gone. Her roommate also did not remove the purse from the trunk of the car. The officer checked in the driveway around the car, the area surrounding the house and up the street in both directions, but the purse could not be located.

Motor Vehicle Accident: Occurred 1/3 at 8:15 AM- Brookline Ave. & Washington St.

At approximately 08:15, a box truck turning onto Brookline Ave. from Washington St. struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The pedestrian was struck while she was pushing her 2 year old daughter in a stroller on Washington St. The accident was low speed. The front bumper of the truck came into contact with the pedestrian's left side but not the stroller or child. The impact, however, resulted in the both parties and the stroller falling to the ground. Both mother and child were transported to Mass. General Hospital where they received additional medical attention and were released. Follow up investigation resulted in the operator being issued a citation for a failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police Reports 1/2-1/3

Burglary: Occurred on 1/2/12 at 7:00 PM- Winchester St.

Police responded to a Winchester St residence for a report of a past Breaking and Entering. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the resident. The resident informed the officer that he returned home at approximately 6:45PM this evening to discover that the front door to his apartment had been compromised and items from inside had been removed. The residents had been on a weekend vacation

The officer observed marks on the door and the door frame consistent with a pry tool, and the dead bolt had popped out.

Arrest:Occurred on 1/2/12 at 1:45 AM- Boylston Street

An officer observed a green Toyota Camry parked to the side of the road which appeared to be occupied by at least two occupants. After traveling around to Commonwealth Ave. and back onto Harvard Ave., this officer observed the same vehicle to now be turning onto Harvard Ave, now appeared to be occupied by at least 5 occupants. The officer pulled alongside the vehicle and observed the operator hold up what appeared to be a plastic baggie with unknown substance and make the motion of wrapping the baggie up and placing it in either a jacket/sweatshirt or other article of clothing. The vehicle reached approximately 48 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone. The officer then initiated a traffic stop. Upon reaching the driver’s side window, the officer was able to smell a strong odor of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The operator was informed that the officer had observed him looking at a bag of marijuana while stopped for a red traffic signal at Harvard St. and Beacon St., at which time the front passenger picked up a black sweatshirt from the floor and handed it to the officer saying it was inside. A search of the sweatshirt revealed a plastic sandwich baggie containing a substance believed to be marijuana. Also in the sweatshirt was a red metal pipe with residue. A subsequent search of the occupants and the vehicle revealed more marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Four occupants of the vehicle were arrested for Conspiracy, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, and School Zone Violation.

O.U.I.-L:Occurred on 1/2/12 at 12:20 AM- Commonwealth Ave.

Approximately 12:20 AM an officer was in the area of Washington St. at Commonwealth Ave. stopped for a red traffic signal. Before the traffic signal turned to green and while still on solid red, a maroon colored Chevrolet Astro van, accelerated to a high rate of speed through the solid red light and continued to accelerate at a high rate of speed on Comm. Ave. towards Warren St. At this time the officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle.

The vehicle then made an abrupt lane change into the right hand lane, getting behind an MBTA bus. The officer activated the emergency blue lights and siren in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop. The driver made no attempts to stop and continued traveling on Comm. Ave and finally came to a halting stop in front of 750 Commonwealth Ave.

Upon approaching the driver’s door, the officer could detect a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was asked to the exit the vehicle and was observed by the officers as unsteady on his feet. The driver agreed to partake in several field sobriety tests. It was determined that the driver was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest for OUI-L, Failure to Stop, Operating to Endanger, Speeding, and Red Light Violation. His license was seized and he was notified by police that effective immediately his license was suspended.

Police Reports 12/30-1/1

12/30 Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Police responded to Parkway Road to take a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim stated that their vehicle was stolen sometime between 6:00 PM on 12/29 and 8:00 AM 12/30. The vehicle was parked in their off-street parking spot. Upon further investigation, the vehicle had been found stripped of parts and a license plate by the Milton Police.

12/30 Burglary

Police responded to St. Paul Street to speak to the caller about a possible break in her building. The caller reported that she had reported her apartment had been broken into back on 12/26. She was alerted to an open window to another apartment in the building. She went to talk with the neighbor and found the front door appeared to have been forced open. A check with the resident confirmed the apartment was not how it was left. Detectives are continuing to investigate.

12/30 Fraud

Victim came into the police station to report someone had been using her debit card without permission. The victim stated she was alerted to the fraud by unknown charges on her statement.

12/30 Malicious Damage

Police responded to Washington Street to take a report of malicious damage. Victim reported to Police that a portion of her fence had been damaged.

12/31 Arrest

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 1:36 AM after observing a vehicle fail to stop for a red light. During the stop it was found that the operator’s right to dive had been suspended in Massachusetts and that he had a warrant for his arrest. The operator was placed under arrest for the warrant, operating with a suspended license and traffic offenses.

12/31 Arrest

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 7:23 AM. During the stop it was found that the operator had a warrant out for his arrest. The operator was placed under arrest for the warrant.

12/31 Malicious Damage

Officers responded to HRI Hospital on Babcock Street for a reported disturbance. During the disturbance there was excessive damage to the building and property inside. The responsible party will be summonsed into court by Officers.

01/01 Arrest

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 4:52 AM after observing the vehicle driving erratically on Beacon Street. During the stop the officers found that the operator was not recognized by the Massachusetts registry. The operator was placed under arrest for operation without a license.

1/1 Malicious Damage

Officers responded to Blake Road for a report of Malicious Damage. The victim reported to police that their vehicle had been parked in their driveway and at some point over night the windshield had been shattered and the mirror on the driver’s side had been broken.

Police responded to Washington Street for a report of Malicious Damage. The victim reported that he was driving down Washington Street around 4 pm when his vehicle was struck by an object causing damage to the front bumper of his vehicle. Officers found broken glass bottle in the street near where the victim’s vehicle was struck.

Police responded to Middlesex Road for a report of an attempted Breaking and Entering Report. The victim reported to police that they came home to find the glass in their entry door had been smashed, but did not appear that anyone had gained access to the house.

Larceny at St. Marys Church

St. Marys Church on Harvard Street reported today that the baby Jesus and a lamb were taken from the nativity set. They were last seen last night out front in the set on the corner of Harvard Street and Linden Street. Any one with any information is asked to contact the police.
