8/29-9/3/2017

On 8/29/17 Officers were dispatched to the area of 1322 Beacon St. for the report of a Motor vehicle hit & run.  Upon arrival the Officers spoke with the reporting party and investigated the claims. In the end the reports were determined to be unfounded all parties were advised.

On 8/29/17, an Officer observed a subject who he knew to have active warrants for his arrest. The subject was stopped and subsequently placed under arrest for the three outstanding warrants.

On 08/29/2017 a citizen arrived at the Brookline Police station front desk to report possible fraud. The victim was attempting to sell an item on Craigs List, and got what she believed was a scam response. The victims bank informed her they believed the “ buyer” to be a scammer.

On 08/29/17 a citizen arrived at the Brookline Police Station to file a malicious damage report.   The victim reports large scratches on both sides of his vehicle.  A report was filed.

On 8/29/17, Officers responded to an address on Woodland Rd. for an attempted Breaking and Entering. Upon arrival Officers observed a knife on the ground outside of a door to the left side of the front door of the residence. There was forced entry to the door handle. A subject was located and subsequently charged with breaking and entering and resisting arrest.

On Wednesday 08-30-2017  Officers responded to an address on Babcock St. to take report of a stolen bike.  The victim reports securing her bike to a rack with a U-lock and cable lock.  .  The bicycle is described as a white and gray Giant brand women's "Defy" with an aftermarket bike rack, odometer, and a BU sticker.  This information has been entered into NCIC by dispatchers.

On August 30, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Perry Street for a Breaking and Entering with a larceny from a motor vehicle that had occurred approximately ten minutes prior. The suspect was described as a thin black male wearing a dark baseball cap, polo shirt with stripes and khakis. The suspect entered the motor vehicle and took two black bags from a motor vehicle. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the subject. Detectives arrived to process the scene for finger prints.

On 8/31/17 Offices responded to an address on Holland Rd. on a report of a missing person. After the report was taken, the subject’s family called to report she had returned home. Officers went to the address to confirm. Everything checked out ok.

On 8/29/2017,  Brookline Animal Control Unit, received a report from Newton Wellesley Hospital, reporting an animal bite that occurred in Brookline.  The animal bite was reported to have occurred on 8/27/2017, at Harry Downes Field.  An Investigation into this matter is currently being conducted.

On 08/31/17 Officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Cypress St. and Boylston St. A random vehicle query of a Nissan Altima revealed the registered owner had an active warrant.  Once the vehicle was stopped it was determined the registered owner was in the vehicle and was subsequently placed under arrest.

On 8/31/2017 at approximately 0800, Animal Control responded to Harry Downes Field on an investigation of a dog bite that occurred on 8/27.   An investigation is ongoing to identify the owner of the offending dog.  An exposure form and the Brookline Health Department will be notified.

On 8/31/2017 Officers responded to an address on Boylston St for a report of found property.  The property is described as small plastic bags containing a white/yellow powdery substance. The bags have been placed into evidence locker, for destruction, pending an investigation. A follow up by the detective unit is requested.

On 8/31/2017 Officers responded to an address on Beverly Rd for a Fraud Report stemming from a hacked email account. The case is under investigation.

On 8/31/2017 Officers responded to Lee Street on reports of a motor vehicle crash.  One driver was transported to the hospital, one operator was given a citation for failure to yield right of way. Both vehicles were towed.

On August 31, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Walnut St for a larceny of a bicycle. The bike was reportedly stolen from in front of the victim’s house. A report was filed.

On 08/31/2017 Officers were dispatched to the area of Dwight & Babcock St. for a reported hit and run motor vehicle crash involving Town property. The caller reports witnessing a U-Haul truck strike a town sign and flee the area.  Responding officers were unable to locate the U-Haul truck; photos were taken of the damaged sign.

On Friday, September 1, 2017, Officers observed a white Ford Van travelling eastbound on Beacon St. without a valid Inspection Sticker (Expired June, 2017). The Officer conducted a traffic stop and realized the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with the following; (MGL 90:23) Operating After Revocation (License). (MGL 90:20) Fail to Submit Motor Vehicle for Inspection.
  
On 09/01/2017  Officers observed  a red Honda Accord displaying an expired inspection sticker (expired 02/2017) and  conducted a traffic stop on Cypress Street at the intersection of Tappan Street.  A query on the cruiser laptop revealed the registration status was Revoked due to lack of insurance. The operator was issued MA citation for the following offenses; MGL (90/34J) - Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, MGL (90/23) - Operating after Revoked Registration MGL (90/9) - Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, MGL (90/20) - Failure to submit Motor Vehicle for Inspection.

On 09-01-2017 Officers were dispatched to an address on Cedar Rd. for a larceny report.  The victim reports someone stole his back pack type leaf blower from his enclosed trailer. There were no witnesses to the event, and there are no surveillance cameras in the area. A report has been filed.

On September 1, 2017 officers responded to an address on Beacon St for a fraud report. The victim reports she received a call from a male party with an accent stating that he was from Spain. The male party told her she won 700,000 dollars in a lottery. The caller stated that told she needed to pay 45,000 dollars for income tax to Spain. Ms. Martino stated the caller gave her two names and bank accounts to wire the money to. Unfortunately the victim did send some money. A report was filed.

On 9/1/2017 Officers responded to an address on  Wellington Terrace  on a report of an attempted larceny and malicious damage of a bicycle. The victim reports he placed his grey Raleigh men's bicycle on his front patio to his home.  The bicycle frame and rear wheel were locked together by means of a Kryptonite style lock, thus making it impossible to ride away.  A report was filed.

On September 1, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Harvard St for a report of assault that just occurred. The alleged assault happened between two co workers.  After speaking with both parties a hearing with the Brookline Court is being requested for 265/13A Assault and Battery.
  
On 9/2/2017 Officers observed a male party fueling a moped at a gas station on Harvard St.  The Officer noticed that the moped had damage throughout including body panels held together with duct tape. The Officer approached the operator and inquired about his lack of helmet and the moped. A VIN check on the moped revealed that it had been reported stolen on 8-24-2017 out of Boston.  The subject was placed under arrest and charged with the following; G.L. c. 266, s.60: Receiving Stolen Property Over $250.00.

On  9/2/2017 I Officers responded to the Brookline Police front desk to talk with a former resident regarding a past larceny. The victim reports that as she was moving out of her Egmont street apartment she had numerous bags taken from the side walk. This was move-in day for new students and there were lots of items on the sidewalk. No video surveillance is available. Tracking software is being used to locate several items. A report has been filed.

On 9-2-17 Officers responded to school Street on reports of a single vehicle accident. The operator reports falling asleep and drifted onto the sidewalk, striking a traffic signal before coming to rest at 50 School St. No injuries were reported on scene. Photos of the damage traffic signal and vehicle were taken.

On September 2, 2017 Officers assigned to the Loud Party Car responded to Garrison Road for a group on the street that was rough housing and drinking. The group told Officers they were waiting for Uber rides. They were asked to quiet down to which they complied.   At approximately 0059 hours, Officers were dispatched to Garrison Road for a report of the same group of people being loud and playing loud music from their cars. An additional call was received a few hours later. The Resident was cited $100.00 for Noise Bylaw violation.

On Sunday September 3rd, 2017 Officers responded to an address on Beacon Street  for a report of an attempted breaking and entering. The reporting party stated a male wearing all black and a gold chain with pendant tried to open one of his windows twice while he was home and possibly left in the direction of Kent Street. The caller reports he was asleep in the living room when he heard someone tampering with one of the windows on the Kent Street side of the building (of his basement level apartment). A search of the area was unsuccessful.

On 09/03/2017, a citizen entered the Brookline Police station to report malicious damage.  The victim reports over the past few weeks she has noticed that her tires have been deflated on several occasions. This past week she took her vehicle to Midas Auto Service on Commonwealth Ave to get her tires looked at. The mechanic at Midas informed her that her driver's side tire appears to have a puncture mark.  The punctured tire was then repaired and not replaced. The victim believes this is a result of someone from her work. A report was filed.

9:58 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to South Street at West Roxbury Parkway for a report of a traffic crash. The two vehicles made contact when vehicle one attempted to make the light on South Street and the other vehicle had a green light travelling on West Roxbury Parkway. The operator of motor vehicle one will be mailed a traffic citation for Failure to Stop for Red Light. The second vehicle was towed from the scene. No one was injured.

10:21 a.m.: A resident contacted dispatch regarding leaf blower use on Washington Street. He requested a quick response in order to catch them in the act. Officers did so and advised the building superintendent of the town bylaw.

11:15 a.m.: While conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Harvard Street and Beacon Street, an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn from Harvard Street onto Beacon Street. A traffic stop was conducted. During the stop, dispatch confirmed the operator’s license was revoked. He will be summonsed to court and was issued a citation for Operating a MV after Revocation and for taking the prohibited left turn. His license was confiscated and the vehicle was towed.

11:31 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Boylston Street for a report of a past larceny that occurred on 8/27. The reporting party stated she had been shopping at the Trader Joe’s on Beacon Street with her purse in her cart. When she arrived at the cash register, her purse was missing. She has contacted her bank and all of her credit card companies. She was also advised to have a marker put on her information to prevent the creation of fraudulent accounts in her name. Please do not leave purses or bags unattended in your carts while you shop.

1:57 p.m.: An officer responded to Fuller Street for a report of a bicycle theft. The reporting party stated he had locked his bicycle to a pole on Wednesday (8/23) and discovered it was gone on 8/27 around 6:00 p.m. The responding officer was informed of a found property report from 8/27 regarding a white bicycle. The reporting party identified the bicycle as his and was advised on how to recover the bicycle from the police station.

3:30 p.m.: While assigned to the front desk of the police station, an officer was approached by an individual who wished to file a lost property report. She stated that between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. she left Murphy Park and forgot to take a bag with her. She returned to the park to look for the bag, but could not find it. The bag contained various items including a wallet, cash, debit and credit cards, and two hoodies. The credit cards have been cancelled and no unauthorized activity has occurred on the accounts. The party was advised to contact the major credit bureaus of the matter.    

5:30 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Harvard Street for a report of an attempted bicycle theft. The victim stated that on 8/27 at approximately 11:25 p.m., he heard a buzzing noise outside. He looked outside and saw that his bicycle, which had been locked in front of his residence, was missing. He went outside and saw a male riding the bicycle. The reporting party managed to get his bicycle back and the subject ran away. He is described as about 6 feet tall, in his thirties with a shaved head, wearing a green shirt, dark colored jeans, and a grey backpack. The reporting party was advised to contact police right away in the future.

5:55 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Englewood Avenue for a report of a past residential breaking and entering. The officer spoke to the victim who stated that her bicycle had been in the building’s first floor hallway for approximately one week, but was discovered missing at 5:30 p.m. There was recent damage to the interior doorframe of the building’s foyer. Detectives processed the scene and collected evidence. The building’s landlord informed officers that he had observed the damage to the door at approximately 12:00 p.m.

6:55 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Freeman Street for a report of a past residential breaking and entering of an unlocked apartment. Upon arrival, the victim stated that at 5:00 p.m. he left his apartment to go do laundry in the basement of the building and left his door unlocked. He returned at approximately 6:00 p.m. and discovered his watches were missing. The building’s front desk employee informed the reporting party that there is security surveillance by the elevators and would notify officers when it is available.

9:14 p.m.: A citizen reported a past B&E&L from a motor vehicle. He stated he parked his vehicle in a parking lot on Beacon Street and returned to his vehicle at approximately 2:30 p.m. He placed a box of contact lenses in the vehicle and then left the vehicle to run errands. He does not believe he locked the car. He then left the location at 2:45 p.m. and parked his vehicle on Washington Street. Later, the victim discovered the box of contact lenses and another small box were missing from his car.

8/25/2017

12:11 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Euston Street for a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim stated he had last seen his bicycle on the morning of 8/24, but when he returned home at approximately 11:30 p.m., his bicycle was missing. The resident’s roommate stated she observed the bicycle still locked to the stairs at approximately 2:00 p.m. The lock had been cut and was found on scene.

1:48 a.m.: Officers responded to an address on Winchester Street for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the caller who stated that on 8/22 she was walking home when she encountered a male who attempted to engage in conversation. As he continued to try to speak to her, she became fearful and ran into her building. On 8/25, she observed the same male in the vestibule of her apartment building and contacted the police. Officers spoke to the subject who stated he was waiting for a friend. He was advised that he needed to vacate the premises unless he was specifically invited by a resident and future visits might result in trespassing or other charges. He vacated the premises and the caller was escorted to her apartment.

7:00 a.m.: An officer spoke to a representative of the management company at the same address on Winchester Street regarding an individual in the building. The male was located and identified as the subject involved in the incident that occurred earlier. He claimed he was looking for a friend and was observed knocking on several apartment doors. Officers escorted the subject out of the building and the property owner arrived on scene. The subject was issued a verbal no-trespass order and was advised he would be subject to arrest if he went onto the property again. Officers requested that the management company remind tenants to lock their doors and deny access to unknown individuals.

10:30 a.m.: A subject was placed under arrest for an active arrest warrant related to a car break that occurred on Naples Road. Officers and detectives located the party in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Winslow Road. At the time of his arrest, the subject was in possession of bolt cutters, screw drivers, a wrench, and stolen gift cards. Officers received the proper owner’s address and information on where his vehicle would have been left. His vehicle was located and appeared to have been broken into. The proper owner could not be contacted, but he was provided information via email. The bolt cutters and gift cards were placed into evidence.

10:45 a.m.: Officers responded to an address on Beacon Street to serve a warrant. The subject could not be located at his residence, but he arrived at the front desk at approximately 10:45 a.m. At this time, he was placed under arrest for a warrant for Larceny by Check.

12:05 p.m.: An officer responded to the intersection of High Street and Chestnut Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving town property. The operator had changed lanes before turning onto Chestnut Street and had crashed into a stop sign. He was issued a citation for Unsafe Lane Change. The Highway Department was notified of the damaged sign.

12:13 p.m.: An officer spoke with a party who believed he had been scammed by a landscaper. On 8/3, the reporting party provided the landscaper with a check for work that was to be done in his back yard. The landscaper was meant to bring a contract to the resident before any of the work was done and before the check was cashed; however, the check was cashed and the reporting party never received a contract. The landscaper stated he would bring the contract on various occasions, but failed to do so and the victim can no longer contact him. The victim has started civil proceedings at Brookline District Court.

12:28 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on John Street for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that between 7/19 and 8/1 he had deposited a check for his insurance company into a mailbox on Harvard Street. He was later informed that the company did not receive his payment. The party contacted his bank, but records on how the check was cashed are unclear. Detective follow up has been requested.  

1:07 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted on Beacon Street when a vehicle was observed turning right through a red light from Harvard Street onto Beacon Street. During the stop, the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. He was identified and dispatch confirmed he was the subject of an active arrest warrant. The subject was placed under arrest without incident.

8/26/2017

A citizen reported that a spare tire had been stolen from the back of her vehicle. She stated that she had parked her vehicle on Linden Street on 8/23 between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. and when she returned to the vehicle, the spare tire and cover had been removed.

11:42 a.m.: A citizen reported he had attempted to purchase parrots from an online site. On 8/22 he purchased two parrots and sent a money gram to an individual in Virginia. He later sent an additional sum of money for the birds’ insurance to another individual in Virginia. When asked to send more money, the reporting party stated he believed he had been scammed and stopped responding to emails from the company. Officers were provided copies of the transfers made and emails between the two parties.

10:13 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Harvard Street for a report of a bicycle theft from a bike rack on a vehicle. At approximately 7:05 p.m., the vehicle was parked on Harvard Street and the bicycle was locked to the bike rack. At 10:10 p.m., the bicycle was missing. The lock had been cut and was left on the vehicle. The lock was placed into evidence and the bicycle’s serial number was entered into the database.

8/27/2017

1:21 a.m.: An officer arrived at an address on Worthington Road to assist a fellow officer with found property. The officer had observed a white bicycle on the ground at the beginning of a driveway. The garage door at the rear of the residence was also unlocked/open. None of the residents were home at the time and it did not appear that forced entry had been used to enter the garage. The garage was closed and the bicycle was transported to the station pending determination of ownership.

3:30 a.m.: An officer observed three males looking into buildings on Harvard Street with a flashlight. The officer stopped the individuals and other officers arrived to assist. While speaking to the three males, it was discovered that one of them had a default warrant. He was placed under arrest. Officers safely removed a hypodermic needle from his person during the process.  A camera was also found in his possession and placed into evidence. The subject was later transported for medical attention.


6:33 p.m.: An officer was approached by an individual on University Road stating that her motor vehicle had been maliciously damaged sometime in the past several weeks. On 8/15 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the vehicle was parked and on 9/27 at approximately 4:00 p.m. she observed a scratch on her rear bumper and multiple scratch marks on the passenger side rear door.

12:04 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Beacon Street to meet a party who reported her vehicle had been egged. The reporting party stated she was driving her vehicle through the intersection of Marion Street and Beacon Street when her vehicle was egged. There was no damage to the vehicle. There was a similar incident on 7/26 and officers are working to identify those responsible for these events.

8:05 a.m.: Officers, along with Brookline Fire and Fallon Ambulance, responded to Washington Street for a motor vehicle crash with personal injuries. While travelling on Washington Street toward Cypress Street, motor vehicle #1 was rear-ended by motor vehicle #2. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. One of the operators was transported by Fallon Ambulance for additional medical attention. Officers assisted in the exchange of information and advised both parties to contact their insurance companies.

9:11 a.m.: Brookline Dispatch received a call for a leaf blower complaint in the area of Russett Road and Ashville Road. The caller was unable to see the company working in the area. An officer responded to the area and found that no leaf blowers were in use. An insulation company, roofer, and tree company were working nearby.

10:18 a.m.: An officer responded to a call for a leaf blower complaint on Washington Street. The company was advised of the town bylaw. They were finished working for the day and left the area.

11:30 a.m.: An individual turned in a found cellphone to the front desk of the police station. The cell phone was found at Griggs Park and has been placed into evidence pending determination of ownership.

11:30 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Washington Street for a noise complaint regarding a leaf blower. Upon arrival, the officer observed a landscaping company, but no leaf blowers were in use.

12:55 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Ivy Street regarding an attempted breaking and entering that occurred earlier in the month. The homeowner showed officers the side porch door. Glass in the bottom corner of the door had been punched out and broken, but has since been replaced. A sheer curtain inside the door was stained and submitted to detectives. Detectives also photographed and processed the scene. The resident believes the incident took place between 7/31 and 8/2 while she was away. Officers attempted to contact two parties who were working or present at the address at the time. Detective follow up has been requested.

5:17 p.m.: Officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Avenue for an attempted shoplifting. The manager of the store stated a male subject attempted to steal merchandise by concealing it in his bag. As he went to leave, the manager approached the male and he returned the items, but began to threaten the store employee. He was later located by officers on Commonwealth Avenue. The store manager participated in a show up identification and confirmed he was the male who attempted to shoplift. He was placed under arrest and charged with Shoplifting and Threat to Commit a Crime. Officers were provided a receipt for the store item and video surveillance of the incident.

7:39 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Downes Field for a report of a missing cell phone. The reporting party was able to track the phone to the area of the field, but when officers responded it appeared that the cell phone was turned off. Later, officers attempted to locate the phone again by calling it, but the phone went straight to voicemail.

10:09 p.m.: A citizen reported his bicycle was stolen. The victim stated he had locked his bike to a bike rack on Harvard Street at approximately 6:00 p.m. and when he returned at approximately 10:00 p.m., the bicycle was gone. The lock was also taken.

10:50 a.m.: A query of a vehicle’s license plate revealed the vehicle’s status to be revoked for failure to pay insurance premium. A traffic stop was conducted on Middlesex Road. During the stop, the operator did not have his license in his possession, but dispatch confirmed he was a licensed operator. The operator was issued a citation for Operating After Revocation, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and not having his license in his possession. The vehicle was towed and he was sent on his way.

10:43 a.m.: A resident spoke to an officer at the front desk of the police station stating he found an ammunition shell and wanted to turn it in for disposal. At this point, the individual removed mortar round from his bag. The scene was secured by the officer and the Brookline Fire Department and Boston Police Bomb Squad were notified. All employees were evacuated from the building. The Boston Bomb Squad responded to recover the mortar and determined that it was deactivated. The resident stated he had located the mortar in his basement. Detectives and officers went to the party’s resident and did not locate any similar items. The resident was advised to contact the police if anything similar is ever located.

2:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon Street for a graffiti complaint. The owner of the business stated sometime on 8/17 someone defaced the outside concrete walls with graffiti. Photos were taken of the graffiti and the incident will be investigated further.

4:48 p.m.: A citizen reported his dog was bitten by another dog. He stated that the incident occurred on 8/15 at Dean Park. His dog was playing in the park when another dog was let off leash and bit his dog. The reporting party’s dog was taken to the vet for treatment which included multiple stitched to the dog’s ear. Follow up by the Animal Control Officer has been requested.

7:41 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Station Street at the Brookline Village T Stop for a report of a past malicious damage to a rental vehicle. Upon arrival, the reporting party and victim stated she parked her vehicle before 5:00 p.m. and returned to it at approximately 7:30 p.m. to find a long scratch on the front left bumper and words written on the rear driver side window. Before boarding her train, an unidentified male had approached the victim and followed her asking her questions. She eventually asked him to leave and she boarded her train. Officers will contact transit authority in efforts to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect.

11:10 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for a report of larceny. Upon arrival, a store employee stated that a male had been leaning over the counter reaching for the cash register. He then ran out the door and fled the scene on a bicycle heading south on Harvard Street.  A sum of money was missing from the register. The male was wearing dark clothing and carrying a black bag. Camera surveillance from another business in the area depicted the male leaving on a dark bicycle. Follow up by the detective division has been requested.

12:13 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Williston Road regarding malicious damage to a vehicle. The victim’s vehicle had been parked on Williston Road on 8/21 at approximately 11:00 a.m. and when he returned to the vehicle he observed a large dent and scratches on the front of the hood. The party has reported similar damage in the past.

1:03 p.m.: A vehicle was stopped by an officer for a lane violation that occurred at the intersection of Beacon Street and Harvard Street. During the traffic stop, it was found that the vehicle registration was revoked. The operator was issued a citation for Marked Lane Violation and Operating After Revocation and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was towed form the scene.

3:05 p.m.: Two citizens reported a past larceny from a building that occurred at a business on Beacon Street. The reporting party stated they had left their purses in the break room on 8/18 at approximately 5:30 p.m., but the purses were missing at approximately 9:00 p.m. Both victims were advised to contact their banks and credit/social security agencies to have their accounts frozen. They are currently monitoring their accounts for unauthorized transactions. On 8/21, one of the pocketbooks with the other items missing was returned to the owner by mail. Detective follow up has been requested and surveillance footage will be provided to officers when available.


7:31 p.m.: An officer was approached by a citizen in the area of Center Street regarding a stolen bicycle. The party stated his bicycle was locked to a bicycle rack at approximately 1:00 p.m. and when he returned to it at 7:30 p.m., the bicycle was missing and the cable lock had been cut.

8/17/2017

7:50 a.m.: Officers responded to an address on Franklin Court to serve an arrest warrant/probation violation. The subject was placed under arrest without incident.

9:10 a.m.: An officer observed a vehicle make an aggressive maneuver on Washington Street when he failed to signal a lane change. A traffic stop was conducted. It was found that the operator’s right to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts was suspended. He was placed under arrest. An inventory search of the vehicle led to the discovery of prescription pill bottles. As a result, the operator will also be charged with Possession of a Class E Substance. He was issued a citation for Failure to Signal Lane Change and Operating After Suspension.

1:08 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Beals Street for a larceny report. The reporting party stated her Kindle tablet was stolen on 8/16 between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. At the time, she had received a grocery delivery during which the deliveryman had entered her residence. The reporting party contacted Amazon who forgave charges made on her account. The delivery company and deliveryman were contacted by the officer. Detective follow up has been requested to investigate the unauthorized charges.

2:20 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Aspinwall Avenue. The caller stated that their Vespa had been taken from their driveway and now an individual was outside the address with the scooter. The reporting party stated he had left his scooter in the driveway at approximately 12:20 p.m. and noticed it missing at approximately 2:10 p.m. Shortly after, he saw the young male walking toward the house with the Vespa. Officers spoke to the young male who stated he was at Pierce Playground when he bought the scooter from another male. He also had a BB gun in his possession. It appeared the vehicle’s seat lock had been broken and the key ignition hole had been tampered with. The male will be charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Minor Possession of Air Rifle.

4:35 p.m.: A citizen reported she was the victim of internet fraud involving her bank accounts. She stated a sum of money had been illegally taken from her account. She is working with her bank to resolve the issue and was advised to contact the credit bureaus and FTC Identity Theft Web Page.

7:15 p.m.: An officer responded to the intersection of Chestnut Hill Avenue and Dean Road for a town property damage accident. The officer spoke with one of the operators who stated he was making a turn onto Dean Road when he struck a traffic/pedestrian signal which fell onto another vehicle. There were no injuries and the operators had exchanged information prior to the officer’s arrival. The Highway and Signal Department were notified.

8:16 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Engelwood Avenue for a report of stolen packages. Tracking information showed that two of the packages were delivered on 8/3 and one of them was delivered on 8/8. The reporting party contacted her landlord and asked about the building’s security.

8/18/2017

11:02 a.m.: Officers responded to a business on Harvard Street for an attempted shoplifting. An employee had observed the subject place an item in her bag only to return it to the shelf when she noticed the employee. Officers also spoke with the manager of another business on Beacon Street who stated the same party had concealed items in her bag then placed some of them back on a shelf and left the store. A female party matching the subject’s description was located. The store employees participated in a show up ID and confirmed she was the shoplifter. She was placed under arrest and the stolen items were returned to the businesses. The party will be charged with two counts of Shoplifting Under $250. Video surveillance will be provided to the police when available. While in booking, officers discovered the subject had given false information during the shoplifting arrest. Brookline Dispatch confirmed the individual had two default warrants. She was informed of the additional charges for the warrants and False Name.

2:08 p.m.: Officers observed a suspicious male at Amory Park. An officer lost sight of the individual as he went to speak with another male who later left in the opposite direction. When the suspicious male observed the police officer, he reversed directions. He was later located at the intersection of Amory and Freeman Street where he was found to be in possession of multiple types of drugs and a sum of cash which were placed into evidence. The subject was placed under arrest and is being charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and Possession of a Class C Substance. 

2:52 p.m.: Officers responded to Washington Street/Brookline Avenue for a hit and run accident. The reporting party stated that she was travelling on Washington Street approaching a red light at Brookline Avenue. When the light turned green, another vehicle swerved into her lane coming into contact with her vehicle. She pulled over hoping to obtain the other driver’s information, but they continued on Boylston Street. On 8/19 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the party provided officers with the possible vehicle registration. Officers identified and spoke with the other operator who was cooperative and provided information over the phone. The reporting party was contacted and will follow up with the other operator and her insurance company.

8:53 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street at Winchester Street for a scooter accident. Upon arrival, officers observed an individual being treated by a passerby. Brookline Fire and Fallon Ambulance Paramedics arrived and took over treatment. It appears that the operator was travelling westbound on Beacon Street when he lost control of his vehicle. The operator was transported for further medical attention.

8/19/2017

9:50 a.m.: An individual reported he was the victim of identity theft. He stated that his credit card had been compromised and a party was attempting to use his personal information and credit card to make various purchases. The credit card company is following up and the charges have been blocked. He has filed an affidavit of fraud with the major credit bureaus and provided information for the Fraud Victim Assistance Department and FTC Identity Theft Page.

11:00 a.m.: A citizen reported she was the victim of identity theft. She stated she was informed her credit cards and PayPal account had been compromised. She also discovered her cell phone had been compromised and disconnected by the perpetrator as well. She received a call from a party claiming to be her credit card company, but when she contacted the company again they stated no one had called her. She did not provide any of her information. The companies are following up on the accounts, which have been placed on hold.

12:31 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Chestnut Hill Avenue for a town property damage accident between a truck and a town tree. The truck operator was parking in front of the address when he drove into an overhanging tree branch which damaged the box truck’s top right corner. The bark of the tree was damaged from the contact. Pictures were taken of the damage.

1:35 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Brookline Avenue/Parkway Road for a past B&E&L if a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the owner of the vehicle stated she parked her vehicle at the parking meter at 11:30 a.m. and when she returned to it at 1:30 p.m., she noticed her rear passenger window was smashed and her laptop bag was missing. The bag was discovered in the bushes. Various items were missing from the bag including the laptop. Detectives processed the scene. At this time, several open packages were also observed nearby with a pair of gloves next to them. These were placed into 
evidence and submitted for DNA testing.

8/20/2017

9:36 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Beacon Street for the report of a B&E&L of a motor vehicle. The registered owner stated she parked her vehicle the previous evening at approximately 
8:00 p.m. and when she returned to it the following morning, the contents of the glovebox had been strewn about the front seats. There was no damage to the vehicle suggesting force was used. An iPod Touch was missing. Detectives attempted to process the vehicle. While on scene, another victim stated his vehicle has been broken into and items had been rummaged through. Nothing was taken.

12:09 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business on Cypress Street for a potential attempted breaking and entering. A pane of the front window display was completely cracked, but intact in the frame. Officers observed a small hole in the bottom corner. Based on observations, it appeared to be malicious damage rather than an attempt to break in. The reporting party was advised to contact his insurance company regarding the damage. Officers obtained security footage from a local business. Further follow up by detectives has been requested.

5:39 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Perry Street for a suspicious package containing knives. The officer took the bin and submitted them into evidence for proper disposal.

8/21/2017

6:17 a.m.: An officer responded to Naples Road for a B&E of a motor vehicle report. The reporting party stated she had parked the vehicle in her driveway at approximately 10:30 p.m. the previous evening and when she went outside at approximately 6:15 a.m. the next morning, she found her vehicle had been rummaged through. Cash and checks were missing from the vehicle. The party was advised to contact her bank and not to leave valuables in her vehicle. There was no evidence that force was used to enter the vehicle and follow up by the detective division was requested.

9:07 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Thatcher Street for a past B&E&L of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated nothing was out of place vehicle at 10:00 p.m. the previous evening. When she returned to the vehicle the following morning, the driver’s side door was open and contents of her glove compartment were on the passenger seat. Change, a hockey bag, and skates were missing from the vehicle.

11:22 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on VFW Parkway for a leaf blower complaint. The 
caller stated that construction workers were using leaf blowers. They were gone on arrival.

5:36 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Heath Street for a report of a stolen wallet. The victim stated that she left her backpack containing her wallet in her office at approximately 4:00 p.m. and when she returned at 5:05 p.m., the wallet was missing. She contacted her bank and discovered a transaction had been made and cancelled all of her debit and credit cards in the wallet. She was advised to contact the FTC and major credit bureaus.

6:15 p.m.: A citizen reported to the front desk that his bicycle was stolen from the bicycle rack at the MBTA Station on Station Street. The incident occurred sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The bicycle and lock were gone.

An officer was dispatched to a business on Boylston Street for a report of a threat by an employee directed toward another employee. The two employees had been working at the register when one of them became angry and began yelling. He was sent home early and the police were contacted. The employee then began threatening the other employee. The subject will be summonsed to court for Threats to Commit a Crime.

1:59 a.m.: An officer observed a vehicle travelling north on Washington Street at a high speed. The vehicle turned onto Bartlett Crescent and then took a left turn onto Bartlett Street in violation of the posted One-Way. The officer activated his overhead lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle continued onto Westbourne Terrace until it struck the curb causing damage to the tire and rim. The operator then jumped into the backseat of the vehicle. The operator and passenger were identified. The operator was not licensed. He was placed under arrest and issued a citation for Unlicensed Operation of a MV and Violation of a One Way. The vehicle was released to the passenger who had an active driver’s license.

9:48 a.m.: An officer responded to the front desk of the Brookline Police Station for a report of package theft. The reporting party stated she received confirmation that her package had been delivered on 8/10. The packages are usually left inside the unlocked front door of the building by the mailboxes. The victim filed a claim with FedEx and has provided officers the tracking number.

9:52 a.m.: An individual was placed under arrest for an active arrest warrant. He was transported to the Brookline Police Station where he was booked and advised of his rights.

10:06 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Beacon Street for a noise complaint regarding the use of leaf blowers. Upon arrival, the officer met with the landscapers and advised them of the town’s leaf blower by law.

10:30 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Thorndike Street for a report of a suspicious person in the reporting party’s hammock. Upon arrival, the subject was gone, but officers discovered a wallet containing an ID. Officers brought the wallet to the station for safekeeping.

12:00 p.m.: While on patrol, an officer met an individual regarding an attempted package theft. The reporting party stated he received an online notice stating his package had been delivered on 8/15. On 8/16 at approximately 11:40 a.m., the package had been opened and left right outside his apartment door. The merchandise was still in the box.

12:34 p.m.: A citizen reported that his motor vehicle had been stolen out of a parking lot on Harvard Street. Officers were able to obtain video surveillance from the area and observed a male with facial hair, wearing a blue button shirt, black shorts, and tan shoes get into the victim’s vehicle and exit the parking lot onto Harvard Street. At approximately 6:48 p.m., Brookline Dispatch received a second call from an address on Thorndike Street. The original caller stated the party that had been on her hammock was now sitting on her neighbor’s porch. Officers arrived and observed the individual noting that he matched the description of the subject involved in the motor vehicle theft. He stated his name which matched the ID in the wallet that was discovered on Thorndike Street earlier in the day. The subject was placed under arrest for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Officers canvassed the area for the vehicle, but were unable to locate it.

11:58 p.m.: Officers, along with Brookline Fire, responded to the Pierce Park Playground on the Harvard Avenue side for an outside fire. Upon arrival, the slide of the jungle gym was engulfed in flames. Brookline Fire arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Brookline Fire informed officers that he believed the fire was set intentionally. A resident of Harvard Street approached an officer and stated that at approximately 11:30 p.m., he observed four young males in the area of the fire. At approximately 2:30 a.m., the officer spoke to two male parties at the Pierce Playground basketball courts. The officer took their information and sent them on their way. The Parks Department was notified of the incident and the play structure was taped off.  Follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

Resident Scammed Out of Thousands of Dollars

8/15/2017

6:40 a.m.: Officers responded to an address on Clark Road for a disturbance. The reporting party stated her neighbor had come over to confront the resident regarding the revving of a motorcycle and grabbed her by the shoulders during the interaction. The neighbor will be summonsed to Brookline District Court for a clerk magistrate’s hearing for the charge of Assault and Battery.

11:30 a.m.: An officer observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Beacon Street make an illegal right on red onto Washington Street. A traffic stop was conducted. It was found that the operator’s license was suspended non-renewable. The operator was placed under arrest without incident and was issued a citation for Operating after Suspension and Right on Red Violation (Posted).

12:10 p.m.: Brookline Dispatch received a call for a shoplifter out of a business on Beacon Street. Officers located the individual on John Street. An officer returned to the business on Beacon Street and spoke to an employee who observed the subject take an item from the store, conceal it in his bag, and exit the store. The employee participated in a Show Up Identification and confirmed that the subject officers had stopped was the shoplifter. He was placed under arrest for Shoplifting Third and Subsequent Offense. The merchandise was returned to the store and officers were provided with a receipt which was placed into evidence.

1:28 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Stedman Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The vehicle’s operator stated he was travelling westbound on Stedman Street when his GPS fell from his windshield. While attempting to retrieve it, he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene. The operator stated he was uninjured. The Town Forestry Division was contacted to inspect the tree.

Larceny Under False Pretenses

3:44 p.m.: The victim was approached by a subject and asked for her help. Suspect stated he owed a large sum of money to the immigration office, but he also had a winning lottery ticket that he needed to cash in but was unable to collect due to his “immigration issue”. Victim agreed and withdrew a total of $10,000 from two banks.

First suspect is described as a light-skinned white or Hispanic male, around 35 years old, 6’02”, thin build, clean shaven, bald on top of his head with dark short hair around the sides, wearing a long sleeve shirt and gray/blue pants.

Second suspect is described as the following: darker-skinned Hispanic male, 6’0”, medium build, between 20-30 years old, with black curly hair, wearing a dark blue shirt with vertical pink stripes, blue jeans and black boots.

12:15 a.m.: A query of a vehicle travelling eastbound on Beacon Street revealed the vehicle’s registration was revoked. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Beacon Street and St. Paul Street. The operator, also identified as the registered owner, was found to have an expired license. The operator was issued a citation and will be summonsed to court for Operating After Revocation, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

1:17 p.m.: Officers responded to an address on Freeman Street for a larceny. The reporting party stated that she had mailed checks to their landlord on 7/26, but she never received them. It was later discovered the checks were both cashed by another individual.  


8:50 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a bank on Harvard Street for fraudulent activity at ATM machines. An employee stated he witnessed two males at the ATMs who he had been tracking through multiple states. Officers identified the subjects and found them each in possession of various credit cards which they had used to make fraudulent transactions at the ATMs. The two men were placed under arrest for Uttering a Forged Instrument, Illegal Use of a Credit Card, Identity Fraud, Possessing 4 or More Falsely Embossed Credit Cards, and Larceny over $250. Further follow up will be conducted by the bank with the New England Electronic Crimes Task Force.

Confession Leads to an Arrest

8-11-17 At 4:00 AM a subject walked into a Boston Police station to confess to a stabbing that occurred in Brookline on June 15, 2016. During that incident a man was walking his dog on Vernon Street when he was attacked. Here is the blog from that incident…

Blog Report from 6-16-2016
Last night at approximately 9:50PM, Brookline Dispatch received a call for a robbery in progress on Vernon Street.  Reporting party was a witness to the incident and immediately contacted Police.  A Suspect description was given as a black male, approximately 26 years of age, clean shaven, wearing dark colored pants, and dark colored puffy jacket or hoodie with a logo on the front. Suspect was last seen running on Vernon Street heading towards Park St. The adult male victim was discovered to have suffered non-life threatening stab wounds to his upper body. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. This is an active investigation.

The subject was transported from a Boston Police station to Brookline Police Headquarters.  The subject was interviewed by detectives.  Based on the statements made by the subject it was determined that there was probable cause to believe that this subject committed the stabbing over a year ago. The subject was arrested and charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery –Knife, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.


On 8/11/2017 at approximately 1:18 a.m., an officer responded to Gibbs Street for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim who stated he got an argument with an individual in an Uber Pool. The victim exited the Uber in an attempt to walk home, but the other rider also exited the vehicle and assaulted the reporting party. He then ran in the direction of Commonwealth Avenue. Officers canvassed the area, but could not locate the suspect. Detective follow up has been requested.

8:17 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business on Beacon Street for a reported shoplifting. The subject was located at the intersection of Beacon Street and St. Paul Street. Store employees stated they saw the individual enter the restroom with two items and leave the room with only one. Employees conducted a show up identification and identified the male as the subject from the incident. The subject was notified he would be summonsed to court for Shoplifting.
An officer responded to Skyline Park to speak with a Parks Department employee who stated he observed tire tracks in a circle shape on the field. Officers photographed the tire tracks.

10:03 a.m.: At the intersection of Beacon Street and St. Paul Street, an officer observed a vehicle 
without a license plate attached to the front of the vehicle and no bumper. The officer found that the vehicle registration had been revoked for failure to pay insurance premium. A traffic stop was conducted. The operator was found to have an expired license and he was issued citations for Operating a Motor Vehicle Not Duly Licensed, Operating and Uninsured MV, and Operating After Revocation of Registration. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

9:34 a.m.: An officer spoke to an individual who wished to report damage done to his tires. He stated that sometime between 6:00 a.m. on 8/4 and 6:00 p.m. on 8/10, while his vehicle was parked in the rear of an address on Hamilton Road, his right tire was punctured and needed to be replaced. The party’s left rear tire had been similarly damaged between 7/30 and 8/3 and he observed several damaged tires in the rear parking lot. The responding officer observed several vehicles with flat tires, but was unable to contact the owners at the time.

Officers responded to an address on Clark Road for a past attempt on the back door of the residence. The resident stated he had left for vacation on 7/31 and when he returned on 8/11, he found the screen door of his back door was cut. At this time, it is believed the suspect did not enter the residence.
An officer was dispatched to an address on Tappan Street for a B&E of a Motor Vehicle Report. The reporting party stated he had parked his vehicle in his parking spot behind his residence at approximately 10:00 p.m. on 8/3. When he returned to it the following morning he found the center console and glove compartment were open and rummaged through. His vehicle had been left unlocked and a few items were missing. Follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

1:29 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard Street for a past shoplifting. The store owner stated that a subject had purchased lottery tickets, but the employee accidentally gave him too many tickets. When he attempted to inform the individual of the error, the subject claimed there was no error and left the scene with two other individuals. Officers were able to observe the subject in the store and the vehicle he left in on surveillance footage. An individual was contacted regarding the incident, but refused to provide the subject’s contact information. Both of them will be summonsed to court.

11:16 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Strathmore Road for a noise complaint. The party had previously been advised of the complaint. When the officer returned to the address, the resident was very cooperative, turned down the music, and asked his guests to leave. He was issued a Town By-Law Ticket for Nuisance Control Violation.

8/12/2017

10:10 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Mason Street for a burglary report. The resident stated he left at approximately 8:45 a.m. and returned at 9:25 a.m. to find two laptops and an inactive iPhone were missing. The two laptops were tracked to a location in Mattapan, but a more precise location is being determined. The house’s patio doors had been left open and there was no sign of forced entry. The scene was processed and fingerprints and boot prints were recovered form the backdoor and rear porch.  

10:12 a.m.: A Brookline Officer responded to Cottage Farm Road for a breaking and entering investigation. This address was located only a few houses down from the address on Mason Street. At approximately 8:30 a.m., the resident observed damage to windows in the rear sun room/porch area of the home. A door that is typically locked was also found unlocked. It appears entry was made through the windows and the subject exited through the door. The subject was unable to gain entry into the house. The scene was processed. Two umbrellas were found missing from the front vestibule on the other side of the house.

An officer observed a vehicle travelling on Boylston Street without a valid inspection sticker. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Boylston Street and Chestnut Hill Avenue. Brookline Dispatch confirmed the vehicle’s registration was revoked as the vehicle was not insured. The operator, also identified as the registered owner, will be summonsed to court for Operating After Revocation – Registration, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Failure to Submit Motor Vehicle for Inspection.

8/13/2017

1:04 a.m.: An officer observed a vehicle travelling north on Washington Street make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Davis Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted during which the operator’s driver’s license was found to be suspended. The operator was issued a citation for Operating After Suspended License and Illegal U-Turn (posted).

2:10 a.m.: An officer responded to a traffic crash on Washington Street. While travelling south on Washington Street, a vehicle was struck on its driver side door causing damage to the rear end of the vehicle. The other vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side front end. The operator of the second vehicle was issued a citation and given a written warning for Following Too Closely and No License in Possession.


4:29 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Stedman Street for a noise complaint. Officers advised the resident of the complaint and he had all of his guests leave. He was issued a Town By-Law Ticket for Nuisance Control Violation.

2:39 p.m.: Officers spoke to two individuals at the intersection of Amory Street and Dummer Street regarding a bicycle which fit the description of one that was reported stolen.  During this interaction, officers began to speak to a third party that was known to them, and at the time believed to be involved with the other men. While attempting to gain further information, the subject with the bike fled the scene on the bicycle. The other two males were questioned. It was later determined that the subject who fled had an active arrest warrant. Furthermore, one of the two men who stayed on scene also had a warrant and was placed under arrest. The subject who fled on the bicycle was mailed a citation for Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, multiple Marked Lane Violations, and Operating Through a Crosswalk at Amory and Commonwealth Avenue.

An officer responded to a location on Newton Street for a stolen car report. After entering the vehicle into the database as stolen, it was located on the front lawn of a residence on Meadowbrook Road. Officers arrived and assessed the situation, concluding that the vehicle had rolled from the original location to the property on Meadowbrook Road.

6:01 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Ivy Street for a past larceny report. The victim stated that he and his wife had discovered various items including a camera, jewelry, and cash were missing from their residence. Other items in the same locations were left untouched. There was no sign of a break and the victim stated he has had multiple people and companies working on his property.


10:24 p.m.: A query of a vehicle’s registration on Beacon Street revealed the vehicle had a suspended registration status. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension – Registration and Unregistered Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

8:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on Longwood Avenue for an attempted B&E that occurred the day before. At approximately 5:00 p.m. the previous evening, the resident noticed damage to his front door and lock, including pry marks. The party stated he was home during the time, but did not hear anyone trying to break in. It does not appear that the suspect made entry. Detectives arrived and processed the scene.

7:45 a.m.: Brookline Animal Control responded to an address on Waverly Avenue for a bat in a house. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate the bat, but advised the residents that the Brookline Health Department will follow up. At 10:13 a.m., Animal Control responded to the same address and captured the bat and transported it to the State Lab for rabies testing.

9:19 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Alberta Road for a report of a B&E of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that she had parked her car in her driveway at approximately 10:15 p.m. the previous evening and left the vehicle unlocked with her wallet in the center console. When she returned to the vehicle the next morning, the wallet was gone. The wallet was located on the street with its contents scattered on the road. All contents were accounted for excluding cash.

An officer responded to an address on South Street for a report of a B&E&L from a motor vehicle. 
Upon arrival, the victim stated that she had parked her vehicle in her driveway the previous evening at approximately 9:00 p.m. and when she returned to it at approximately 8:30 a.m. on 8/9 she realized the vehicle had been rummaged through. Only change was missing. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

5:53 p.m.: Officers reported to Amory Park for a report of a “drug deal”. The reporting party stated she had observed tow individuals approach two males sitting on a park bench. Based on the interaction she believed it to be a drug transaction. Officers located the individuals on the bench. One of them was found to have marijuana and a large sum of cash in his possession. These along with plastic baggies and a digital scale were placed into evidence. This subject will be summonsed to court for Possession with intent to Distribute Class D drug.

Arrest made last night


Officers arrested a juvenile last night and charged him with breaking into cars. The subject was located in the Washington Street and School Street area. He had several items of value we would like to return to the rightful owner.  If you notice items missing from your car such as change or other small items of value, please call to report it and we hopefully can reunite you with your valuables. Unknown if this subject is responsible for the other motor vehicle break ins we had last week. These occurred a few blocks north off Washington Street.  The cases are still under investigation. It does appear that the vehicles targeted have been left unlocked. Please make sure your vehicles are locked and no valuables are left in plain sight.

12:29 a.m.: A query of a vehicle travelling westbound on Beacon Street revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Beacon Street and James Street. The operator was cited for Operating After Suspension – License.

An officer was dispatched to an address on Jamaica Road for a report of found property. Upon arrival, an officer located a purse with its contents, including passports, spilled over the porch. One of the passports belonged to an individual who had reported a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle earlier in the day. The purse and its contents were photographed and submitted into evidence.

9:00 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on High Street for a B&E&L of a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated that the previous evening he had parked outside a restaurant and when he returned to the vehicle, he discovered a purse was missing from the center console. There was no damage to the vehicle. Surveillance footage from the area has been placed into evidence.

11:00 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Gardner Road for a larceny report. The reporting party stated she had two packages stolen from her front step while she was away. She was notified the packages were delivered on 8/3 and 8/4, but a neighbor could not locate them on 8/5. The reporting party will obtain the tracking numbers of the package and follow up with officers.

An individual reported that he left his phone in a Lyft vehicle. He has used the Find My iPhone application to send alerts to his phone, but received no response. Lyft Customer Service advised him to contact the local police.

8:44 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on Winchester Street for an attempted residential breaking and entering. The subject could not be located due to the lack of a description from the reporting party. Detectives processed the scene.

9:32 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on St. Paul Street for a report of two stolen bicycles. The bicycles were last seen the previous evening locked to a railing on the front steps of the residence. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on 8/7, two of three bicycles were gone and the lock had been cut.

9:55 a.m.: An individual was placed under arrest for an active default warrant. He was taken into custody without incident.

An officer was dispatched to Pond Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. While waiting at a red light on Washington Street, one of the vehicles struck the other from behind.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Franklin Street for a report of a residential breaking and entering and larceny of property. The reporting party stated that the incident occurred sometime over the past weekend. Various items were found to be missing. The point of entry appears to be a window with an air conditioning unit and the suspect then exited the residence through the front door. Detectives arrived and processed the scene.

An individual stated she received phone calls and emails from a company claiming to have a civil suit against her for failing to pay back a loan. The victim stated she never took out such a loan nor does she have an account with one of the banks involved. She requested information be sent to her lawyer. She completed a fraud report and was advised to contact the Federal Trade Commission and major credit bureaus regarding the incident.

An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and South Street for a report of a two car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the Brookline Fire Department was checking the scene as one of the vehicles sustained major front end damage. The other vehicle had rear end damage mostly to the underside. The operator of the second vehicle was issued a citation for Following Too Closely.


A query of a vehicle travelling westbound on Beacon Street revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Beacon Street and James Street. The operator was confirmed to have a suspended license and was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension.

2:20 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Beacon Street due to a defective break light. The officer noticed that the subject’s status was revoked/insurance. To follow the subject will be summonsed to Brookline District Court. 

4:13 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Beacon Street for a burglar alarm. This case is under investigation. 

7:12 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Tappan Street for a Breaking and Entering of a Motor vehicle. The party stated that the vehicles glove compartment and middle console had been rummaged through. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested at this time.

7:44 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Tappan Street for a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The subject noticed that the middle console and glove compartment of the vehicle were both open and rummaged through. The subject filed a police report and this case is under investigation. 

8:45 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Gardener Road for a report of an attempted Breaking and Entering. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

8:47 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Beaconsfield Road for a Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle. A follow up by the Detectives Division has been requested.

9:18 a.m. An officer was assigned to an address on Winthrop Road for a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The party stated the vehicles console had been rummaged through and items had been stolen. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

11:26 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on VFW Parkway for a report of a Breaking and Entering.  The case is under investigation.

12:00 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the front desk to take a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. The party noticed that the vehicle had been rummaged through and appeared to have items missing. This case is under investigation.

12:49 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police station for an identity theft report. The subject filed a police report and the case is under investigation.

1:10 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the front desk to meet with an individual who was the victim of a fraud email requesting a money transfer. A follow up by the Detective Division has been requested.

1:15 p.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Gardener Road to a report of a Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property. The vehicle appeared to be rummaged through. This case is under investigation.

2:21 p.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Regent Circle for a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a motor vehicle. A follow up by the detectives has been requested.

3:30 p.m. An officer responded to an address on Regent Circle to a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.  This case is under investigation.

8/5/2017

1:02 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Amory Street and Freeman Street. . The subject had failed to stop at a Stop Sign, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Revoked Registration and Revoked Registration. The operator of the vehicle was informed that he would be summonsed into Brookline District Court.  

2:40 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop, the subject operating the vehicle after suspension-registration. The subject was cited and will be summonsed to court regarding the offense.

11:31 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Boylston Street where that party had reported a hit and run.

9:46 a.m.: An officer was assigned to an address on Monmouth Street for a bike theft report. The 
cable lock on the bike appeared to be cut and had been left on the ground. This case is under investigation and there is no further information at this time.

10:30 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Loveland Road for a report of a breaking and entering of a home. This case is under investigation.

12:31 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to Boylston Street for a motor vehicle accident. The reporting part stated he had been traveling eastbound on Route 9 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car. Both of the vehicles were towed and the operator was issued a citation for Marked Lanes Violation.

12:59 p.m.: Officers responded to Cypress Street for a report of a stolen license plate. The license plate was stolen off of a vehicle parked on Davis Avenue sometime between 8:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. A stolen license plate report was completed.

An officer was dispatched for a report of a truck that took down utility wires on Allerton Street. The Brookline Fire Department determined the wires were cable television wires and posed no danger to the public. An officer observed damage to a porch at an address on Allerton Street and left a note for the resident detailing the incident and contact information for the police department.

10:57 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a bank on Beacon Street for a threat that occurred on 8/1 at approximately 3:00 p.m. At that time, a customer had threatened an employee stating he had a bomb in his backpack. Surveillance footage will be provided to officers when available and the subject was contacted and advised that he would be summonsed to court for Terroristic Threats.

3:30 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Village Way for a report of harassing phone calls. The officer contacted the number that had been used to make the calls and requested they call the Brookline Police Department.  


12:58 p.m.: A query of a vehicle’s registration revealed the registered owner’s driver’s license had been suspended. A traffic stop was conducted on Washington Street. It was confirmed that the operator was the registered owner and he was issued a citation for Operating After Suspension.

5:19 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Summit Avenue and Short Street for the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle that had been stolen from Cypress Street. There did not appear to be any damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was processed and the owner was notified of the recovery of his vehicle.
