Officers placed suspect under arrest by virtue of a Straight Warrant. Several items were seized in the process.

Officer responded to a report of a past breaking and entering. Victim stated that he returned to his apartment because his roommates informed him their apartment might have been burglarized. Residents of the apartment discovered their rooms had been rummaged through and personal items had gone missing.

Units responded to a call of 2 victims who had just been robbed at gunpoint on Egmont St. Victims stated that 3 male suspects approached them displaying a handgun, and proceeded to rob them of their personal items. Suspects are described as:
Suspect #1- dark skinned black male 5'10" 16-20 years old wearing a royal blue sweatshirt with a grey and orange backpack
Suspect #2- Lighter skinned than suspect # 1, 5'11"-6'0" short black hair, 16-20 years old, red sweatshirt or jacket, silver and black earrings depicting words
Suspect #3- black male, 5'10" short black hair 16- 20 years old dark sweatshirt.
Witness later reported that Pleasant Street near Dummer St he observed three black males taking off sweatshirts and stuffing them in backpacks and then continue on Pleasant Street toward Commonwealth Ave. Two black males were wearing white T-shirts and the third was wearing a red plaid T-shirt.

Armed Robbery
Approximately 508PM Brookline Police responded to St. Paul
and Egmont Street for a reported armed robbery. Early reports of three victims,
local college students, had been robbed and a hand gun had been shown. No one
hurt, officers are looking for three subjects described as black males late
teens. Personal property was taken from the victims. This is still an active investigation.

Officers were dispatched for a report of a white male who entered the monastery waving a flashlight around in a threatening manner demanding money. Officers observed the subject yelling very loudly at clergy members. Subject was placed under arrest and charged with One count of Home Invasion, one count of Armed Robbery, Three counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous weapon (Flashlight).

Officer responded to a report of a male subject stealing copper along the train tracks. A query check revealed that the male subject had an outstanding default warrant. Subject was placed under arrest.
MV Theft/Auto: Since 9/17 – Summit Ave
Victim, owner of a c company, came into the station to report a stolen vehicle. Victim stated that a driver took out a cab and did not return it. Even after numerous attempts to contact the driver, the driver failed to return the vehicle.
Robbery/Attempt: 9/20 at 8:45pm – Beacon St & Westbourne Terr
Officer responded to a report of a past Assault and Battery. Victim stated that he was approached by a male subject who asked for his wallet. The subject then proceeded to swing and hit the victim. In an attempt to fight back, the subject ran off in the direction of Westbound on Beacon St. Subject is described as a black male, dark complexion, 18-25 years old, slight build, 5'9" tall, short hair, possibly shaved head, wearing an oversized large green camouflage jacket and dark pants, possibly jeans.

Officers Arrest Suspect Involved In B&E
B&E of MV: 9/17 at 9:30pm – Gibbs St
Victim reported that his vehicle was broken into overnight. Victim stated that he left his vehicle unlocked and did not turn the alarm on.

Officer responded for a B&E&L of a motor vehicle. Victim stated that she returned to find that her front passenger window was smashed. Upon further inspection she discovered items missing inside.

Officer responded to a report for a Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle in progress. Victim stated that she saw the male suspect enter her vehicle and when the victim asked what he was doing, suspect left the vehicle in a hurried manner. Suspect is described as a white male, 6'00, early 20's, with close cropped hair and with normal build wearing a dark colored jacket.

Units responded to a report of a man striking vehicles with a bat. Caller stated that the male suspect was inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers removed the suspect and placed him under arrest. Suspect will be charged with 2 counts of B&E of a motor vehicle, 4 counts of Malicious Destruction of property, (for the damages made to vehicles and storage units), 2 counts of Larceny from a motor vehicle, 1 count of Possession of a class E substance, and One Count of Disorderly Person.

Liquor Compliance Checks
Brookline Liquor Stings
The Brookline Police Department will be conducting liquor stings, which involve liquor compliance checks starting now throughout the year. These stings will be conducted at all liquor licensed establishments, including package stores, restaurants and variety stores. These compliance checks are part of the duties of the department’s liquor control officer and will be done on a continuous basis throughout the year.
Preventing underage drinking is everyone’s responsibility. Compliance checks reassure youths do not have easy access to alcohol and that people over 21 years of age are not buying alcohol for underage youths, including employees and liquor license holders. Such activities and frequent oversight of alcohol retailers increases compliances.

Officer responded to a report of a hit and run. Victim stated that he was crossing in the crosswalk along Powell Street when a vehicle made contact with his left leg. Several units arrived on scene to check the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Victim stated that he was riding his bike in the area of the Longwood MBTA stop when he was punched in the left side of his face causing him to fall off of his bike and to the ground. He immediately got up and exchanged punches with two male subjects, between 14-16 years old: Suspect 1 described as baby faced, short afro hair (1-2 inch), short sleeve Red polo style shirt, and dark colored, normal fitting pants. Suspect 2 wore a blue shirt.

Upon arrival, officers noticed loud music and talking coming from the top floor of an apartment on Dwight St. Residents stated that they were having a birthday party. Residents were advised of the complaint and were each issued citations for violating the Nuisance Control By-Law.

Officers responded to a report of a past larceny report. Caller stated that she forgot to bring her backpack into the theatre, and later returned to find her bag missing. Caller’s backpack contained numerous property items.

Caller claimed that he was being victimized by a caregiver who was using his credit & debit cards. Caller stated that the caregiver had taken his vehicle and the credit/debit cards a few days prior. Caller was notified of unauthorized cash withdrawals and transactions. Officers have requested a warrant for the caregiver’s arrest.This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to a report of a tow truck dispute. Victim stated that his towing company was proceeding to tow a vehicle that was parked in a lot that was clearly posted no parking. The vehicle was on the lift when the owner of the vehicle ran over demanding to return his vehicle back to him. The subject became irate, jumped into the driver side of the van and drove the van off the tow truck causing damage to the tow truck, and proceeded to try to leave the parking lot. Victim tried to take picture of the vehicle registration plate when the subject hit the victim with his vehicle. Victim sustained pain to the left side of his torso. Subject was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon(vehicle), Malicious Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct.

Officer was dispatched for a report of a town property pole on the ground with part of a black bumper. Officer responded to a report of a shoplifter who was observed placing items into his back pack. Subject was placed under arrest for shoplifting. Officers later revealed that the subject had drugs on his persons. Subject will be charged with possession of a class A drug (heroin), and possession of a class B drug, (Suboxone), without a prescription.

Officer responded to a report of a MV/bicycle accident. Operator of the vehicle was pulling into a parking spot when she came in contact with a cyclist.

BCW/Rotary Children's Clothing Drive
4th ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CLOTHING DRIVE!
The Brookline Commission for Women and The Rotary Club of Brookline are co-sponsoring the 4th Annual Children’s Clothing Drive. We will be accepting clean, wearable clothing and shoes for children ages 0-5, newborn clothing is especially needed. Donations will be made directly to Brookline families in need, as well as Newborn Necessities and Eastern Service Workers. Clothing that is washed and ready to wear will be much appreciated. We will also be collecting financial donations, canned goods and diapers for the Brookline Food Pantry.

Officer observed a vehicle go through a red light. Officer noticed that the subjects appeared nervous and smelt of a fresh odor of marijuana. Upon further investigation, officer uncovered a clear bag of marijuana in the center console. Subjects were placed under arrest. Subject 1 was charged with violation of controlled substance law and possession of Class D marijuana, and Subject 2 was charged with Possession with intent to distribute Class D marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Distribution School zone violation.

Not Duly Licensed: 9/6 at 11:10am – Boylston St
Officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Operator did not have a MA driver’s license but provided officer with an expired International Passport. Operator was placed under arrest and charged with Not Being Duly Licensed and Speeding.

Bicycle Theft & Bicycle Removal Program
This August, the town of Brookline has seen the highest volume of bike thefts since recent years. Sector 2 and the area around the Brookline High School continue to be hot spots for bike thefts – in addition to Station Street, Linden Street, BHS/Tappan Street area. During the warmer months, most bikes are stolen while left unlocked in driveways, outside of schools, stores, or open garages. We advise all residents to stay alert and properly secure their bikes, especially for the upcoming months. Last year, the greatest volume of bike thefts occurred during the months of August, September, and October.
Bicycle Removal Program
The Brookline Police Department regulates bicycle parking on the public way. For these purposes, the public way primarily means town sidewalks, but also includes public parks. The principal intent of these regulations is to ensure that short-term parking for bicyclists is available in the town and second and that bicycles are parked in a safe and secure manner. One of the important ways of meeting these intentions is to remove abandoned bicycles that are taking up valuable spaces which could be used by other bicyclists (**it should be clear that the bicycle spaces in the town are not intended for long-term storage). Finally, the regulations address the fact that parking a bicycle to some fixtures is not acceptable: trees can be damaged, benches rendered unusable, or hand railings be unavailable to those who need them most.
If you see a bicycle that appears to be in violation of these regulations, please contact the "BrookONline" Website to make a report. If internet access is not available, contact the Brookline Police Community Service Division at 617-730-2248.
An abandoned bicycle (that meets the established criteria), or one that is in violation of the time (72 Hours) restrictions will be tagged and removed. A bicycle determined to be inoperative will be removed by the Department of Public Works for Disposal. A bicycle determined to be operative will be held at the Brookline Police Department of 30 days.

BICYCLE PARKING ON THE PUBLIC WAY
Bicycles ARE permitted to park against a building, street sign pole, or on a bicycle rack or other facilityspecifically intended for that purpose.
Under NO circumstances shall a bicycle obstruct the pedestrian path of travel or handicap access ramps. A parked bicycle must leave at least 36 inches of an obstruction free path of travel. Bicycles are NOT permitted to be parked to: fire hydrants, hand railings, benches, trees, trash receptacles and parking meters. Bicycles in violation of the above regulations shall be tagged and removed immediately if presenting a public safety hazard as noted in this section. Bicycles shall NOT be parked longer than 72 consecutive hours at the same location on any public way or sidewalk. If the bike is determined to be working bike, a green colored tag will be affixed, and after a 72 hour time period be removed for storage purposes. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will transport the bike to Police Headquarters, and the sector officer will generate a report, identifying the bike and removal date. No motorized vehicles shall be parked on a bicycle rack or other facility specifically designed and intended for bicycle parking. Violators are subject to immediate removal by the Brookline Police Department. Motorized vehicles parked on sidewalks will be issued a parking citation and towed.ABANDONED BICYCLE ON THE PUBLIC WAY
A bicycle with one or more of the following defects will be considered abandoned and can be removed and destroyed:
(a) No tires or wheels
(b) Have warped wheels or frame
(c) Missing, rusted or broken chain in such a state that renders the bicycle inoperative
(d) Missing or warped handle bars
If the bike is determined to be in one of the conditions described above, a red colored tag will be affixed the Police Department and the Department of Public Works will be notified for immediate pick up and destruction. The Officer will sign, date, and place the time on the tag for documentation purposes. The tag will be secured to the bike where it is visible to clearly observe.
