JANUARY 8, 2020
At 1:15PM, an officer responded to a business on Harvard St for a past burglary. At approximately 2:30PM on January 7th, the suspect entered the business through an unlocked rear door. The suspect then goes to the manager's office and steals cash. On the way out, the suspect goes through an employee's bag and steals additional items. The incident is under investigation.

At 10:25AM, an officer responded to the Lawton St Community Garden for destruction of property. Over the past few months, there have been several instances of items being taken from the garden or disturbed. Sometime over the past few days, garlic plants were dug up.
At 3:15PM, officers responded to a business on Harvard St for a shoplifter that fled towards Boston. It was determined that the suspect filled a shopping cart with items and walked out of the store without paying. When confronted by staff, the suspect left the cart behind and fled the store. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
An officer responded to a residence on Park St for a package theft report. The package was left in a secured lobby area and was stolen sometime on January 4th.
An officer responded to a hotel on Webster St for an item stolen from a hotel room. Over a span of less than an hour, entry into the hotel room was made and a pair of sneakers were stolen.

At 3:05PM, a victim came to the police station to report a theft. The suspect purchased a video game from the victim online and requested a return a day later. When the game was mailed back to the victim, the game disc was missing.
At 6:22PM, officers responded to a residence on Yarmouth Rd for a residential alarm activated. Upon the arrival of officers, a smashed window on the rear door was located. Officers entered the house and determined no one was inside, but multiple items were moved around. It is unknown what was stolen at this time.

At 9:30AM, officers responded to the intersection of Brookline Ave and Aspinwall Ave for two suspects of a past burglary stopped by management. Upon further investigation it was determined that the two suspects had broken into an apartment on Village Way multiple times over the course of several days. Both suspects were arrested for burglary.
An officer responded to a gas station on Commonwealth Av for two motor vehicles stolen the day prior. Upon further investigation it was determined that two suspects entered the business pretending to be employees of a car share service. Believing the suspects were legitimate employees, they were provided keys to two vehicles. Both vehicles were later remotely shut down and determined to be in Boston.
At 2:30PM, officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave where a suspect was leaving the store without paying for a television. The suspect was stopped a short distance away and placed under arrest for shoplifting.
At 8:50PM, officers responded to a business on Harvard St where a suspect was seen concealing items without paying and then fleeing the store. The suspect was stopped a short distance away on an MBTA bus. The suspect was arrested for shoplifting.

At 2:00PM, an officer responded to a residence on Beacon St for a past burglary. The burglary was determined to have occurred sometime over several days with two televisions and an Ipad stolen. The case remains under investigation.

At 3:40PM, officers responded to Freeman Street for a package theft that just occurred. The reporting party stated a male and female took a package from the front porch of a residence and fled towards Commonwealth Avenue. Other officers located the two parties on Commonwealth Avenue where they were found in possession of the package. The two parties were summonsed for larceny.

At 3:30AM, officers responded to a gas station on Commonwealth Avenue for a party breaking the business' windows. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect inside the store with windows broken, actively stealing items. The suspect refused to comply with the officer's commands and a brief foot chase occurred. The suspect was arrested a short distance away.
At 3:26AM, officers responded to a hotel on Boylston Street for a report of a stolen wallet with the suspect fleeing on Boylston Street. The suspect's vehicle was stopped a short distance away. Upon further investigation it was determined that the suspect had stolen the victim's wallet from his hotel room after being invited over to celebrate New Years. The suspect was arrested for larceny.
At 4:38PM, officers responded to a building on Beacon Street for a report of a fire. Upon arrival with the Brookline Fire Department, the fire was determined to be a minor boiler fire and was quickly extinguished.
At 11:00PM, an Uber driver was assaulted by a passenger he picked up on Beacon Street. The suspect reportedly smashed a beer can against the driver's head and fled when the driver said he was calling the police. The incident is under investigation.

Once on scene officers spoke with the manager who told police the following: The suspect entered the store carrying two empty shoulder bags, and proceeded to walk the cosmetics isles placing items into his bags. He then proceeded to exit the store where he was confronted by the manger. The suspect then fled the scene with the stolen merchandise. Police are investigating.

At approximately 11:40 AM officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a reported larceny. Due to the caller being an anonymous customer, the staff was unaware of the larceny even happening. Upon further investigation of the security camera footage, it showed a suspect conceal merchandise and leave the store. Police are investigating

At approximately 5:00 PM a Brookline resident came into the station to report a package theft. The reporting party had received a notification that her package was delivered to her work at 12:20 PM. When she went to her work to retrieve the package around 5:00 PM it was missing. Police are investigating.

At approximately 7:00 AM officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of a larceny from a vehicle that had just occurred. While police were en-route to the scene, the reporting party confronted the person near his car which caused the female suspect to flee the scene. The victim then gave an accurate description of the suspect and told police the direction of flight. Shortly after receiving the tip, police made contact with a person who matched the description who eventually admitted to stealing items. She was arrested for Breaking and Entering of a vehicle, Larceny from a building, and possession of a class A drug.

At approximately 10:40 PM Brookline PD dispatch received a radio call to assist the Massachusetts Department of Probation to serve and arrest warrant on a wanted felon. The suspect was wearing his court mandated GPS bracelet, which showed he was at home on Kent Street. The warrant was served without any further incident or charges. The suspect was booked on his warrants.

At approximately 11:30 AM Brookline Police received a report from a victim of a dog bite that happened on the day prior to the report. Once one scene officers spoke to the victim who told police that she was walking down Columbia Street when she passed a person walking their dog on a leash. As the dog crossed paths with the victim it jumped up and bit the victims arm. The dog was up to date on all its vaccinations, however it was subject to the mandatory 10 day precautionary quarantine and the owner was issued a citation for the bite.

Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who told police that she had received notification that her package was delivered. When she went to retrieve it after work, it was not in foyer. Police are investigating.

At approximately 4:30 PM Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Avenue for a report of a theft from a locker. Once on scene officers met with the victim who told police the following: The victim had put his belongings, including his wallet in a locker and left for a short time. When he returned they were missing. The victim then received and alert that his credit card had been used at a CVS in the area. Police are investigating.

Once on scene officers met with loss prevention agents who gave a description of the suspect and told police that they observed a man picking out sweaters. The suspect was observed grabbing about 6 sweaters, then exiting the store without paying or the items. He then got into a waiting vehicle and fled the area. Police are investigating.

Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who told police the following: When she returned home from a friend’s house she went to her car when she noticed a large scratch in the shape of an "X" on her hood consistent with her car being keyed. Police are investigating.

At approximately 10:18 AM officers responded to a report of a stolen package on White Place. Once on scene officers met with a witness who told police the following: The witness watched the suspect run up to the doorstep of a residence and grab a package, then run back to a waiting car and get in the back seat. The car then fled the scene traveling the wrong way on White Place. After seeing this the witness took pictures of the car and showed them to police. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to police units in the area. A short time later an officer saw the vehicle fitting the description and initiated a traffic stop. After talking to police the suspect admitted to taking the package and he was placed under arrest.

At approximately 8:43 PM officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a report of an assault that had just transpired. Once on scene officers met with the victim who told police the following: The suspect was an employee of the store and was finishing up her shift. Per company policy her bag was to be searched before she could leave the premises. During this search some items from the store were discovered and alleged to be stolen. The store employee pointed their findings out to the suspect. The suspect became angry and assaulted the manager and then ran out of the store. Police are investigating.

At approximately 12:15 PM officers were dispatched to Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting. Officers began to canvas the area looking for the suspect. Police then noticed a man who fit the description of the suspect in the area. Officers attempted to make contact with him. The man noticed the officers and fled. As he ran away he threw a bag he was carrying. Police caught up with him and searched the bag which contained the stolen merchandise. He was then placed under arrest for shoplifting.

Once on scene officers met with the victim who told police that he received an email notifying him that his package had been delivered. When he went to retrieve the package it was missing. Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who told police that he locked his bike up to a pole outside his apartment the night before. She then realized someone had gone though her glove compartment and emptied the contents onto the passenger seat. The reporting party also noticed two missing pairs of sunglasses. First on scene was an off duty Brookline Police officer who immediately began CPR on the bicyclist with assistance from two witnesses. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. Police are investigating.

At approximately 11:13 AM officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Avenue for a report of shoplifting. Once on scene officers met with loss prevention agents who gave police a description of the suspect. An officer saw a person matching the suspect’s description further down on Commonwealth Avenue and made contact with the suspect. After identifying him it was discovered that he had active warrants for his arrest. He was placed under arrest for his warrants and for shoplifting.

At approximately 6:00 PM officers were dispatched to Linden Street for a report of a stolen bicycle. Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who told police the following: She locked her bicycle to a street sign on Linden Street on Wednesday (11/6), and when she went to retrieve it today (11/9), only the front tire was attached to the sign. Police are investigating.

Once on scene officers met with the reporting party who told them that they had parked their car on the street the night before. When the person returned to her car today (11/11) she noticed damage to the front of her vehicle. Police are investigating.

Once on scene Officers met with the reporting party who told Police the following: At approximately 5:40 the reporting party was preparing dinner when she heard a loud "Bang" thinking that a tree had fallen onto the house she exited to house to investigate. After looking around the outside of the house they discovered the rear glass door of the house was smashed and some furniture had been moved around, but nothing was reported stolen. Police are investigating.

At 12:07 PM Officers were dispatched to Commonwealth Avenue for a report of a shoplifting. Once on scene Officers met with the loss prevention staff who told them the following. While in the store a loss prevention agent noticed an individual familiar to him for a past instance of shoplifting. After recognizing the suspect he watched him remove a coat off the rack, he then watched him put the coat on under his jacket in an attempt to conceal it and leave the store. Loss prevention confronted the suspect who admitted to attempted to steal the coat and agreed to wait for police. He was issued a citation for shoplifting and the items were returned.

At approximately 4:40 AM Officers were dispatched to Clinton Road for a report of a larceny from a car in progress. Once on scene Officers met with the reporting party who told Police the following: The reporting party was asleep in his bed when he was awoken by the sound of a car horn, after hearing this he looked outside to his driveway where he noticed the interior lights of his vehicle were on and the drivers side door was ajar. He then exited his home and shouted at the person which caused him to flee the scene. Other units in the area reported seeing this suspect and attempted to catch him unsuccessfully. Police are investigating.

At approximately 12:42 PM officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of shoplifting. Once on scene officers met with an employee at the store who told police the following: The suspect entered the store around 12:30 PM and was wandering around, she then made her way to the phone accessories area where another costumer noticed her take something and place it into her pocket. After this she paid a phone bill and exited the store with the stolen item. Police used the phone number from her phone bill and were able to contact her and retrieve the stolen property and issue her a summons to court for shoplifting.

On November third there was three separate incidents of cars being broken and items stolen. Two of these incidents happened on Jamaica Road and one on Highland Avenue. All three of these incidents involved vehicles that were left unlocked. The thief targeted loose change, sunglasses and other small items. Police are investigating.

At approximately 9:15 AM while conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Parkway road and Netherlands road, officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at the posted stop sign. After seeing this, a traffic stop was initiated. After identifying the driver it was discovered that he had active warrants for his arrest. After he was placed in handcuffs a pill bottle was found in his pocket containing prescription pills that were not prescribed to him resulting in additional charges.
