Police Reports 1/21/2014 through 1/22/2014

On January 21, a woman came to the Brookline Police Department to report an incident of assault and battery. The woman stated that she had been walking on Washington St. when a bicyclist was traveling towards her on the sidewalk. After informing the cyclist that he shouldn’t be riding on the sidewalk, he stopped in front of the woman and after arguing, threatened to punch her in the face. The cyclist threw the woman’s coffee into the street and the woman grabbed the bicycle to prevent the man from leaving. The bicyclist pushed the woman in the face and rode away.

On January 21, officers responded to the Trader Joe’s on Beacon St. for a report of shoplifting. An employee reported seeing a woman place two items into a bag and hide them under her coat. The woman will be summoned to Brookline District Court for Shoplifting.

On January 21, police were dispatched to the Starbucks on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. It was reported that a man had removed money from the tip jar and fled.

On January 22, an officer queried a vehicle traveling on Beacon Street. The search revealed that the vehicle had a revoked registration and that the plates were registered to a black Dodge Durango while the vehicle was in fact a brown Chevy Malibu. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and dispatch confirmed the plate to be revoked. The driver was cited for revoked insurance, attaching plates, revoked registration, unregistered motor vehicle, and expired inspection.

On January 22, an officer was dispatched to Goddard Ave. for a report of a live breaking and entering. A man reported that someone had been opening his door when they heard the resident and ran, leaving the door ajar. The incident is under investigation.
