8/1 - 8/2

Sector 2

Fraud: 08/01/2013 at 3:01 p.m. – Station St.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Station St. after receiving a report of a scam. The victim stated she had received a phone call from a man claiming to be a representative from the United States Immigration and Citizenship Services. The caller said he needed her passport number as well as a $1,000 payment for an investigation and a $400 fine. At this point, the victim hung up and called Immigration Services, who informed her that they had not called her seeking payment for an investigation or a fine. The victim then contacted the police to report the scam.


Sector 3

Larceny: 08/01/2013 at 10:32 a.m. – Beacon St.

A victim reported the theft of his golf bag and clubs and a jet boat control module. The items were briefly left outside of the victim’s residence, during which time they were stolen. The victim spoke with neighbors, but found no witnesses. A suspect has not been apprehended thus far.


Sector 4

Receiving Stolen Property: 08/01/2013 at 3:01 p.m. – Beacon St./ Washington St.

An officer observed two males driving scooters acting suspiciously. The officer observed the drivers initiate an illegal U-turn, Fail to Yield to Oncoming Traffic, and travel through a red light on Beacon St. The officer then alerted dispatch to the suspicious males and their infractions. One of the suspects was observed soon after by another officer and was told to stop. The suspect failed to stop and attempted to evade the officer. The officer pursued the suspect, observing him travel the wrong direction down Beacon St. before traveling through a red light and taking an illegal left turn onto Washington St. Another officer in an unmarked cruiser observed the suspect on Washington St. and alerted dispatch. The suspect’s movement continued to be tracked, leading officers to converge on Thayer St., Waverly St., Emerson St. and Davis Ave. The scooter continued down Davis Ave. at a high rate of speed until making contact with another vehicle, throwing the suspect from the scooter. The suspect attempted to evade officers on foot, but was apprehended and placed under arrest.
