Northside Residential Breaking and Enterings

Between January 23 and February 6, 2012, there have been 18 residential burglaries and attempted burglaries, primarily on thee north side of Brookline. We believe there are two different patterns and culprits for these crimes. For one pattern, the suspect is breaking in through front doors during the early afternoon hours (12:00 noon – 2:00 pm). This suspect may be ringing doorbells to determine if anyone is home. For the second pattern, the suspect is gaining entry through first floor window equipped with a crank mechanism to open the window, mainly during the early evening hours (5:30 – 7:30 pm).

Brookline Police are encouraging the community to report suspicious us individuals or vehicles in their neighborhoods. If you observe suspicious activity (someone ringing your bell stating they are looking for someone who you know does not live inn the building), please note the description of the person or vehicle, try to record the number of individuals involved, their height and weight, if they have facial hair, what they are wearing, anything they may be carrying, etc. If a vehicle is involved, please record the license plate and the make/model of the vehicle, number of occupants in the vehicle, direction the vehicle is traveling in. etc.

Please call 911 or 617-730-2222 to report suspicious activity.
