8/12-8/17

Assault:

Occurred at 12:03 AM on 8/14 – High St.

Several callers reported a disturbance at a party in their apartment complex. When officers arrived, they observed a male flailing his arms in an aggressive manner hitting the people around him. It appeared as though he was trying to get back into the apartment. He was subdued and immobilized on the floor for his and officers’ safety.

Through interview of witnesses, it was learned that the male was the DJ at the party. A cell phone had gone missing, and he was suspected of stealing it. He was confronted and became violent, swinging his fists in an attempt to hit people. The party goers were able to get him out of the apartment, but he was attempting to get back in right when the police arrived. He was arrested for Simple Assault and Battery and being a Disorderly Person.

Burglary:

Occurred at 2:30 AM on 8/17 – Thorndike St./Lawton St.

Officers responded to a business in the area for general burglar alarm. There was a hole discovered in the glass in the front door, which was believed to have used to enter and exit the building. The cash register drawers were missing.


Occurred on 8/14 – Boylston St./Reservoir Rd.

Officers responded to the area for a reported burglary of a business. The storeowner was contacted by a friend who was walking past the store at night and noticed the front door to be ajar. The owner then came to the store and observed it was kicked in, so she called the police. Change from the register was reported missing.

Breaking and Entering
:

Occurred at 3:30 AM on 8/17 – Beacon St./Kent St.

An officer on patrol observed suspicious activity from 3 individuals walking in the area. He began to follow them, and when several other officers arrived, they approached the individuals, who were walking rigidly and appeared very nervous. One was observed to have a bulging pocket with wires sticking out of the pocket. After a pat frisk for weapons due to this individuals suspicious behavior, a knife as well as a GPS with it’s cables still attached were discovered. The other two were then pat frisked as well, and another knife as well as a flashlight were discovered.

By using the home feature, the owner of the GPS was contacted. The 3 individuals were arrested for B&E&L of a MV, Poss. of Stolen Property: over $250.00, and Possession of Burglarious Tools.


Occurred Overnight, 8/14-815 – Davis Ave.

A car was parked overnight and the owner returned the next morning to discover the front and rear driver side windows were smashed. Nothing was reported taken.


Occurred between 8/13 and 8/14 – Bonard Rd.

A victim reported his vehicle had been broken into. He had parked it the night before, and returned to it the next night and discovered a screwdriver in the ignition, and his GPS, 4 CD’s, and loose change missing.


Occured Overnight, 8/12- 8/13 – Elba St.

Officers responded to the area for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim reported her car alarm went off at 1 AM, and she went to shut it off, and forgot to lock the garage door. The next day, her husband noticed the vehicle had been rifled through and loose change was missing. It is unclear if the alarm went off due to the breaking and entering, or if the break happened after the alarm had gone off and the victim forgot to lock the garage door.

MV Accident:

Occurred at 7:04 AM on 8/16 – Harvard St./Longwood Ave.

A vehicle traveling west on Longwood Ave. approached the crosswalk on Harvard St. A pedestrian was crossing in it, but the driver reported not seeing him due to being fatigued. The pedestrian was struck, but did not report any injuries and refused medical attention. The driver was issued a citation for Failure to Stop for Pedestrian in Crosswalk.


Occurred at 4:28 PM on 8/15 – Newton St./Grove St.

A motor vehicle turned left from Grove St. onto Newton St. was struck by a driver who had gone through the red light on Newton St. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.



Occurred at 1 AM on 8/15 – Boylston St./Chestnut Hill Ave.

Officers responded to the area for a single MV accident. The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and the vehicle jumped the median and struck a utility pole at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Ave. The vehicle sustained extensive damage, and the driver was transported to the hospital.

Larceny:

Occurred between 8/1 and 8/16 – St. Mary’s St./Beacon St.

A project manager reported several tools missing from a construction site. The items were worth several thousand. This is the 4th larceny reported by this company in the last 3 months, the most recent being on Monmouth St. between 7/29 and 8/1. There, a project manager for a construction project reported having several expensive materials missing from his site. The master locks had been pried off the locked containers that they were in. There was no visible damage and no suspicious activity reported in the area over those few days.



Occurred on 8/12 – Kenwood Rd.

On 8/11, a person reported his bicycle stolen. The next day, the victim reported seeing his bicycle for sale on Craig’s List. He set up a meeting time and place with the seller, and officers went with him to the meeting spot to apprehend the suspect, who was arrested for Receiving Stolen Property over $250.
