At approximately 5:30 PM Officers were dispatched to Beacon Street for the report of a stolen bike. Once on scene Officers met with the reporting party who told police that he had left his bike unlocked, leaning against a tree and went into a store. While in the store the reporting party was alerted by another patron that someone just stole his bike. The reporting party began to chase after the suspect. The reporting party was able to flag down a Boston University Police Officer who attempted to help him locate the bike. The bike was equipped with a GPS tracking device and after a brief search was found dumped in a nearby alleyway. The reporting parties’ saddle bags (which were attached to the bike) appeared to be mostly undisturbed; however a large amount of cast was missing.  Police are investigating.
